Adding color to type after effect is applied?

Using Illustrator CS6.  Created type and applied an effect (Graphic Pen) and the yet I could not get it to do anything but come out as black.  How do you apply color to the effect?  Thanks.

Sounds like you are accustomed to the way how this effect works in Photoshop (foreground colour defines the result).
Not so in Illustrator. In Illustrator you may create opacity masks in conjunction with plain filled rectangles. Or use blending modes through the Transparency palette.

  • Color grade from after effects to premier

I started my color grade in after effects before i edited my video how do i send the footage over to premiere using dynamic link? or should i export the footage individually and then import them to premier?

There is no one best way to do this for each project. On professionally produced high end projects final color grading is usually the last step by the initial color grading could have been applied upon import of the camera original footage using LUT's. For most projects that are finalized in Premiere Pro I color grade in PPro or Speed Grade. The new Magic Bullet suite from Red Giant makes this very easy and effective if you need advanced color grading.
Inside AE I will often nest sequences for initial color grading inside AE and if a shot needs a bunch of help I'll color grade before I start. I know this doesn't help much but the best, most efficient workflow depends on the project.

  • Color correction in after effects

I was wondering how you put a color correction pack into after effects once you download it. all help is appreciated.

    > Color Finesse may not be in the AE tryout version.
There is no difference between the trial version and the non-trial version. See this page for details:

(Ignore the part on that page about Color Finesse not being in the trial version. That's wrong.)

  • There is no after effect in applying creative cloud?

there is no after effect in applying creative cloud and when I go on the site and I click on the download still does not

If you do not see a program offered in the Creative Cloud manager it usually means that your machine does not meet the system requirements.

  • Sa Color Finesse in After Effects Cs6 is locked how to unlock?

I have a cloud subscription and After Effects Cs 6 will not unlock SA Color Finesse 3. How do I unlock?

The Adobe AE installer always installs Color Finesse for you with no extra work on your part. It is then automatically serialized the first time you apply Color Finesse to a layer.
If you've tried using an installer from our website (which does require a serial number), then as Myleium says, the easiest fix is to uninstall AE and then reinstall it.

  • SRGB monitor and SRGB color space in After Effects

Hello, I would like to ask some really basics about color correction. I do mostly animations and editing that plays on web and television sometimes. Im using a dell 2713hm monitor. Should i use the sRGB profile when i color correct? Also should i set my After Effects also to sRGB color space? thanx

My monitor comes calibrated in sRGB i think. But in any case, i m getting the spy4elite tool these days so will fix this issue.
So lets suppose it is. And please lets keep the explanation as simple as possible, cause i have read A LOT and i got confused.
From my understanding when having 8bit and i need to export for web, i should use the sRGB both in profile monitor, in AE color management and in output module? If that is correct, i wanna know what i do when i do 32 bit compositing, and also what i do when i got things for television (either motion graphics/3d or footage)
    thanx

  • Alexa color issues in After Effects

Hello,  I am working with DPX files in After Effects CS6 (Mountain Lion) that are in the Alexa Log C color space with no intermediate color grading or treatment straight from Technicolor.  My problem is this:  I am trying to color correct the DPX files to match Avid DNxHD color graded reference quicktimes that were genereted from the same DPX files using a LUT and a CDL.  In the past I have never NOT been able to match color perfectly using LEVELS by adjusting the color in each color channel individually while comparing it to the clip I am matching it to.  Not only do I find it impossible to match the DPXs made from Alexa raw footage to a color corrected version of this same clip that is in quicktime DNxHD format but I am finding the red channel in the DPX files behave in ways that are unlike anything I have ever worked with before.  I have done extensive research in regards to this issue to no avail.  Technicolor has supplied a LUT for NUKE and SHAKE that along with a CDL, is supposed to recreate the color grade of the quicktimes.  I have used Colorista free to input the CDL values as well as LUT buddy to incorporate the LUT that I was given with no luck.  Even compensation with levels does not work because the red channel will NOT cooperate.  I also used the LUT utility in After Effects with the same results.  I even contacted the person in charge of such things at Technicolor and they admitted that they gave up on After Effects in regards to providing a solution to color matching Alexa footage that has been converted to Avid DNxHD and baked with a LUT and CDL.  I can't be the first person to have run into this issue and there MUST be a solution out there that doesn't involve switching to Nuke.  Anybody?

    Hi Jonas,
Please forgive my latency in this response, things have been crazy.  Thank you again for your help in this, here is the drop box link to the DPX file:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/44859261/test-dpx.dpx
I will also tell you what I do know,  Technicolor has been taking the ArriRaw files from the Alexa and using the Color Front OSD to convert them to DPX files.  I was told that the DPX files have a LogC conversion LUT baked into them that was supplied by ARRI.  Along with these DPX files we receive quicktimes of the shots in Avid DNxHD format that have been converted to linar color space.  I am uncertain as to the process (if they are produced by processing the DPX frames or if another process is used to generate them from the same ArriRaw files).  I would love to know the answer to this myself.  I also think that a CDL has been baked into the quicktime that is supplied by the director of photography.  I am still collecting information while trying to get shots done as well.
With all that said, my issue is still a mystery to me.  Upon any attempt to use (Levels) in After effects to get the DPX files to match the quicktimes that we were supplied by Technicolor, (like I have done thousands of times in the past with no problem until now and only with files generated from the Alexa) I cannot get the DPX to match, the color information in the DPX files acts as if it has been clipped, making it impossible to reach the range of colors in each of the color channels that are being displayed in the quicktime.  Particularly in the red channel.
I have the LUT that Technicolor is supposedly using to generate these quicktimes that along with the CDL which I also have and am using Colorista free to introduce to the clip, is supposed to match the DPX to the quicktime but these do not work either nor does any supplemental adjustments.
Somehow, someone at Technicolor is able to go from an ArriRaw file to a quicktime with a specific colr grade that is unattainable by me using the DPX files that I assume these quicktimes were created from.  Sice color is color, I should be able to do the exact same thing anyone else does to a clip no matter what UNLESS the DPX files I have have been compromised which I am told over and over again are not.  This is where I hope you can shed some light on my delima.  If you can take this DPX file and match it to the PNG I pasted into this thread than you are doing somethng I am not and I hope that is the case.
    Thak you again Jonas!

  • Adding voice over to after effects project

    Hi,
I'm very new to after effects and so far am mastering the basics and introducing keyframes to adjust opacity, position etc. I'm pretty happy with what I have created thus far on my project, but now I wish to record a voice over on my video.  I know I can create a voice over track in audition, but I would like to see the preview of my video while I speak to I can time myself right etc.  I have always done this very easily in iMovie.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please even if it means having a preview of my video in audition.
    Thanks,

The way you want to do this is a little bit backward for AE.  The most common way to work is to import an audio file of the voiceover, and then animate using the voiceover as a reference.
So I'd recommend just recording the voiceover, importing it into AE, then adjusting your AE animation.  It shouldn't take very long.

  • Cinematic Color Plug In-After Effects?

I recently purchased the product. I am not sure if there is any way to get the "Cinema" color without purchasing the Magic Bullet plug in which is semi-expensive. I am just interested in playing around at this point-I am new to video.
Are there any other "Cheaper" plug ins available or a way to adjust color natively in program to achieve that look?

  • Importing from After Effects - Curves and Remove Grain

I did some color grading in After Effects, I applied two Color Corrections: 1) "Curves" and 2) "Remove Grain".
However when I exported to into a Premiere Pro Project and then imported it as a project into CS5.5, it said "The preset used by one or more sequences in the project  requires third party components that could not be located...."
    Then it said
    "Video Filter missing:  AE.ADBE CurvesCustom
Video Filter missing:  AE.VISINF Grain Removal"
    Where can I get these?
PS: I have the original boxed FULL VERSION of CS5.5 Master Collection.

shooternz, I guess it's quite clear what  ectobuilder50 is talking about.
He created a composition within AE, applied some filters on footage and then exported this composition as Pr Pro project.
Then he tried to open that project in Pr Pro and got this:
ectobuilder50, I'd recommend you to use Adobe Dynamic Link instead.
Create a composition within AE and apply any filters and/or presets you like, then just save AE project.
Create a brand new or open existing Pr Pro project, then use File -> Adobe Dynamic Link -> Import After Effect Composition... if you are on Windows or smth like this if you are on Mac:

  • After effects color corrected clip not showing correctly in Premiere

    Hello all,
I have recently made a short film with a few effects in Premiere and After effects CS4.  I have used the Dynamic Link to accomplish this.  I have added color correction with Color Finesse in After effects.  The problem is I some of the color correction is not showing up in Premiere once it has finished.  Some of them are adjustment layers and some are not and the ones that are showing up are diverse like that as well.  I have rendered the footage and rendered the premiere time line, it fixes it at first but won't build a DVD the right way then the fixes just seem to disappear when scrolling through the timeline.
Is anyone else haveing this problem?
Do you think it's something wrong that an update will fix?
    Maybe a new codec?

Describe the exect DL steps you took.

Mylenium is correct, the LE version of Color Finesse included with CS4 is for use in After Effects only. To use Color Finesse inside of Premiere or AME you'll need to upgrade to the full PI version. You can find information on available upgrade paths at http://www.synthetic-ap.com/cfupgrade
And if anyone has the PI version and the color correction is disappearing when rendered by AME, be sure to update to the latest version of Color Finesse. Version 2.1.10 corrected an issue that would cause that symptom.

  • Often I can only right click or double click in after effects (usually while using Color Finesse)

Hey, I can't seem to find anyone else that is having this issue.
I use Dynamic linking from Premiere to color a project using Color Finesse in After Effects. Whats the timeline is dropped in, I'll drop in the color finesse effect, open up color finesse, color, and hit okay. When I come back to After Effects, it seems like every other time I do this sequence of events, I can't left click anymore. The only way to scrub through is to left click or double click on the player head. I can't click and drag effects (I just double click). I can't load presets or anything. I have to get back into color finesse and then it works normally again. But once I'm back out of color finesse and into after effects.... it's back. This is driving me insane, as it makes everything take twice as long. Also, I might add that this happens on MULTIPLE computers. So I do believe it's something that I'm doing wrong or something and not the computer. However, it could quite possibly be a setting with color finesse or something with color finesse, cause I'm really the only one on these computers that uses color finesse.
Anyway, thanks for any help in advance.

  • After Effects Color Settings

    Hello Everyone.
I noticed Inside File-Project Settings- Color Settings, My working space is set to None. Is this color setting works like the Photoshop,  that you have either Adobe RGB 1998, or ProPhoto RGB ?
Also In The Dept, It is set to 8 bit.
My Images, are Originally Raw Shots 16 bit and later saved as a .Tiff format.  and their color setting is Adobe RGB 1998, Or ProPhoto RGB. 16 bit and some In 8 bit , and some of my Images
Have been saved for the web are sRGB, 8 bit.  And my Videos are from Canon 5D, and they are 1920 by 1080 24 fps.  I also have many old Shots from my Canon GL1, that are "NTSC not HD".
But I am not sure about this After Effects Color Settings..  Is this color setting has to match the PhotoShop Color setting ?
    Thanks.
