Adding comments in Contribute

We are having multiple employees work with Contribute in
updating / sharpening content on our website.
Is it possible in Contribute for the user to place comments
on the site viewable only by other employees indicating what had
been changed?
Basically it would be like the comments you can add in an
Excel spreadsheet. This would help other users see what had been
changed.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

    Is there a way in Pages to show and print all the added "comments?" (those you add by highlighting text)  I am a teacher, and I would  like students to be able to view my comments on printed versions of their papers. I know word displays the comments off to the side of the document, and those comments can be viewed all at once and printed alongside the document.

    There doesn't appear to be a way to print conmments in either Pages or Numbers in the Mavericks versions.

  • Allow user to fill in a fillable pdf but disallow adding comments and annotation

    Hi there.  I have a fillable pdf created by livecycle designer.  I want to let users fill in the form but prevant them adding comments and annotatons to the form.  I cannot reset the above requirements in form property - form security if I have already set a password and allowed user to fill in the form.  Can I user javascript to that effect during the document loading?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    If you save the form as a Dynamic XML Form in the save-as dialogue, then the user will not be able to apply comments. They can only do this in flat or static PDF forms.

  • During adding comments PDF got corrupt.

    We have given the PDF to our client created using Export option of Indesign CS5 after that we make them comment enable using Adobe acrobat 9 pro software.
    Our client freelancer used Adobe Reader XI (11.0.07) which was updated on 22/05/14 to give comments on that PDF.
    Once again our client wants to add some more comments in the PDF using Adobe acrobat 9 pro. But during this the file got corrupt. Below is the statement given by them.
    "I received the proofread corrections back from the proofreader last week but there were still a few extra corrections to mark on. However when I attempt to mark these extra corrections on the proofs myself and then save it, the pdf immediately becomes corrupt and unreadable. IT were unable to solve the issue but they said that it might be some sort of font error. Could you look into this to see if this is an issue. It might simply be the case that it is a very large file and so it has become corrupt for that reason. I’ve never had this happen before on one of my files though, could you let me know if you have heard of it happening or if you know of any reason why this might happen?"
    We are also trying the same process at our end but there is no such problem face by us. We even try to add the comment in the PDF worked by freelance using Adobe reader XI but everything goes fine.
    We are able to add comment in Adobe acrobat 9 Pro and no file corrupt issue face by us. Is it possible for you to let us know the reason of such problem at our client end. Size of PDF is 178 MB.
    Even in acrobat reader XI we dont face any problem in adding comments.
    Is anyone let me know why our client is facing this type of problem.

    Linda, I'm wondering if there's some "conflict" being triggered because you're using both Win 7 and WinXP --
    Specifically, I wonder if the two systems have off-kilter time stamps, and that's why FM is giving the "newer creation date" problem.
    I don't quite understand what role the XP system has in your test, though -- can you not just use FM == and == make the PDF on the same Win7 box, make the comment on that box, then import the comments?
    Understandably you will probably eventually need to be able to import comments from all sorts of other systems, but for troubleshooting could you try making the full create-comment-import cycle on the Win7 box only?
    If that does work, then you might see of you can set the system time on the XP box to be somewhat slower than the Win7 box, and re-try with the XP box in the mix.
    Edit: changing the system time clock is suggested only as a testing procedure, to see if we can isolate the exact cause, I'm not suggesting that in order to work reliably all your reviewers would need to synchronize their systems :-)

  • Trouble adding comments using Reader X from enabled comments in Acrobat 9

    I am a Technical Writer with Acrobat 9. Regularly I make my documents comment enabled for reader. IT has been updating systems and some of my recipients now have Reader X. Because of the difficulty they have, when they open the commentable PDF they are having trouble adding comments and wind up printing the document, marking up the hard copy, scanning it and emailing it back. What am I doing wrong? Is Reader X not downward compatible? We want to move forward with technology, not backwards.

    Right click the document opened in Reader X and then click "Select Tool".
    Hope that helps.

  • Saving after adding comments

    I either scan documents to PDF using Paperport program (came with printer) or have PDF's emailed to me from others.
    When I open PDF documents eg invoices, I often need to add comment/s and then save the PDF.
    Everytime I go to save after adding comments/sticky notes, Reader x makes me save either to a new location or change the name of the document- then I end up with 2 copies, original and commented. How do I change it to simply save/overwrite document in original location with same name?

  • Urgent need for Adding Comments

    Hai,
    I have to add a comment before the root node dynamically.
    I am adding a comment dynamically by using the following code.
    //Getting the docuement.
    DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document doc = db.parse("cd.xml");
    //Getting the root element
    Element rootElement = doc.getDocumentElement();
    //creating the comment.
    Comment comment = doc.createComment("A Document Comment");
    //Adding comment before the root element.
    rootElement.getParentNode().insertBefore(comment,rootElement);
    //Transforming in to the xml file.
    DOMSource ds = new DOMSource(rootElement);
    StreamResult sr = new StreamResult(new java.io.File("cd.xml"));
    TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer trans = tFactory.newTransformer();
    trans.transform(ds,sr);
    Program is compiling and running sucessfully. But it is not getting added into the result XML File.

    Document doc = db.parse("cd.xml");
    //Getting the root element
    Element rootElement = doc.getDocumentElement();
    //Transforming in to the xml file.
    DOMSource ds = new DOMSource(rootElement);...
    trans.transform(ds,sr);The node you are using as parameter of the DOMSource constructor is the rootElement. The comment you insert before that element is, of course, before the rootElement object, so the DOMSource object should be created with the comment node as the constructor's input parameter.

  • On click of lov new jsp page which has only text area for adding comment

    hi all ,
    please help me to do this task. on click of lov new jsp page should be opend which has only text area for adding comment and upon clicking submit on the jsp page the value entered on the textarea should fall on the text field of lov.
    with regards
    prabhakaran.p

    The only reason I see for such a requirement is "Notes" require more space for entering a detailed note and would be inconvenient to write it in small single-line text input box. But, still in this case, getting the entered text back to the page and displaying it will have the same inconvenience of reading it from that field. And, I still think that removing one amongst the two (text field or image link) would be good, design wise.
    Anyway, did u try the following:
    1. Add a flow layout to the table bean
    2. Add text input and image item to the flow layout.
    3. Attach the notes page as the destination uri for the image.
    Did u start the working on it, let us know how far did u reach so that we can guide you through from that point.

  • Adding comments 4.x, where the easiest place?

    Hey,
    Want to help organize a bunch of photos by album (Smart), but only see the Batch Change for adding comments. In 5.x you can easily add in the bottom left. I see a place there in 4.x for comments but doesn't open when clicked on. Any other ideas on how to easily organize photos by names of individuals or groups thereof?
    TIA
    DHS

    If you have a photo or photos selected and you see the comment box at the bottom left - you just click on the box, your cursor will appear and you start typing
    If you selected info and don't see the comment box, grab the divider between the source and info window and stretch it out.

    Ben

    Hi Ben,
    You add comments via the 'Get Info' window of the file. Do the following:
    1. Click once on a file you wish to add comments to.
    2. From the menubar select File->Get Info
    3. At the top of the Get Info window you'll see the Spotlight Comment section and that's where you type any comments you want which, in turn, will apear in the Comments column when viewing a Finder Window in List view.
    If you do not see a field under Spotlight Comment where you can type, simply click on the disclosure triangle and it will appear.

  • Cant save PDF after adding comments

    Is it possible to save a PDF I have added comments to over the original file. The PDF I am currently commenting on is not read only but I get an error when I try save it over the original file.

    I am working in Windows 7. The error I get states something along the lines of " File is currently in use and cant and cant be overwritten, If I enter another file name I can save the file. It could be a number of issues not relating to adobe reader but I am just wondering if Adobe reader allows you to save commented PDFs with the same name as the original document that was opened.

    Thanks for the architecture comments. I'm interested in this topic because ALARM brought me to arch (although I've replaced the raspberry pi with an Intel-based machine now).
    Well, I'm afraid of starting some kind of flame war by suggesting this officially as a lowly arch noob. I'll leave it up to the people who might profit by something like this (i.e. ALARM – or maybe they don't care and are fine with the current solution, in which case the change is not required at all). For the record, I like the glob solution. It's more flexible than just 'all' and it's easier to memorize the difference between 'any' and '*' compared to 'any' and 'all'.
    It turned out the "adding users" topic is not an issue, because I realized I can simply set "User=nobody / Group=audio" in the systemd unit file to get rid of root privileges while keeping the permission to play audio without logging in. I also set up a minimal Arch VM to test if gnome-icon-theme can be dropped. I found no problems without that package, so I think I'm now ready to upload the modified PKGBUILD (and related files) to the AUR.
    I'll flag this topic as solved. Feel free to add more comments though. Thanks everyone

  • Want to use Reader Extensions for highlighting and adding comments

    Hi,
    The basic use for which we plan to use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions is for highlighting and adding comments.
    In a J2EE application, we create PDF document at runtime using (PDFBox). The purpose to use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions is when the end user sees the PDF created he/she should be able to add highlights and add comments to the PDF document and save it back to server.
    The question is what all I need to do. Just install Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions on the server. What should be done specifically when the PDF is created using PDFBox? Add any information to the PDF so that when PDF is viewed by the user he/she can add comments or highlight.
    Can I get sample application and I also need Developer Guide. I think Developer guide comes with the setup? Did not find any place where I can down load a demo setup of Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
    Can you please guide me in the right direction? I am collecting more information as I search the internet and go through the forum, but it will be very helpful if someone can give correct information.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Jay Chandran.

    Hi,
    I was reading Adobe Reader SDK document (Acrobat_SDK_overview.pdf), in that it is mentioned under
    About rights-enabled documents:
    You cannot programmatically rights-enable a PDF file.
    Well I am confused, because my requirement is like this:
    1. PDF is created using (PDFBox) as part in a J2EE application.
    2. After the PDF has been created, from the J2EE application, the PDF will be send to LiveCycle Extensions to right enable it. (There is no user interface, and it is planned to be done programatically using Adobe libraries. The PDF will be send to LiveCycle Server and Right Enabled PDF will be returned.)
    So if there is no way to "programmatically rights-enable a PDF file", how can it be done without having an web interface?
    Just to confirm, PDF can be prgramatically right-enabled using LiveCycle libraries right? I have to right enable PDF files prgramatically and not using LiveCycle web interface.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Jay Chandran.
