Adding contacts from emails issue

When I receive an email from a new contact on my BlackBerry, and try to add this contact to my list of contacts by selecting 'Add to Contacts', instead of showing the new contact information, I get taken to the page 'Select Contact' and am unable to automatically add the new contact. Would be grateful for any advice on how to solve this problem

Once you've tapped "Add to Contacts", you see the "Select Contact" screen.
You need to tap NEW at the bottom of the screen if this is a new contact.
Select "Search" if you want to add that information to an existing contact.

  • Missing contact when "create new contact" from email or number

I am having a really strange problem on my iPhone and think it will be a fun mystery to solve. Please help me!
It is currently set up with google so that my mail/notes are using gmail IMAP and my contacts/calendars are using Google Sync. So far it's been working pretty well except for all the known many bugs and issues (please fix these, google!). I have no other email, calendar, or contact accounts set up (not even syncing with my computer).
I received an email from a friend who I did not yet have a contact for, so in the email header I clicked her name and chose to "Create new contact." As usual, the email address was already in the "email" field, so I just edited her name and filled out the "company" field and pressed Done. The "from" field in the email updated to show that the contact had been added to my phone and that it recognized the email as being from her.
Now, I go to add a number to her contact and when I navigate through my contacts list, her name is no where to be seen. I've tried searching through the contacts by using the search bar at the top of both the Phone and the Contacts apps, but nothing shows up. However, when I compose an email and start typing her address, it recognizes her as a contact. Even weirder, I just tried the entire phone search spotlight feature, and it found her contact right away, as if it were any normal contact. When I click on it, it brings me to her contact page, which I cannot edit, and when I press the little left arrow "Contacts" in the top left of the screen to go back to the whole listing, she's not there!
When I go to add contacts using the little + symbol in the top right of the phone app, it works normally and the contact appears as usual. But every time I try to do a new contact from email, this happens! Choosing to "update existing contact" works fine, though. So I've been forced to create an empty contact with her name in the Phone app, and then add the email to it.
Please help my find where in my phone this contact is residing, and how to bring it out so I can find it. I have tried force-quitting the relevant apps from the multi-task dock, and even turning off and on my phone, but to no luck.
Update: Just tried creating a new contact from a phone number I've previously dialed and the same thing happens! Where are my contacts going?? This is so weird!
Not sure if this is just a google sync issue, but I figured I'd post it in case other people are having similar issues
    Device: Apple iPhone 4
    Carrier: AT&T
    Country / Language: USA English
    OS: iOS 4

I recently experienced a similar event. I was adding from Contacts "+" button on the iPhone 4. I completed entering the data & hit "done". I went back to add a photo. I hit "done" & went to test the result. No new contact. Search did not find it. Tried two more times with different contacts. Same result.
At one point, the "All Contacts" directory went blank. Nothing. Seconds later the contacts returned. Scary. I rebooted the iPhone. No new contacts but old ones fine.
I then entered with an old iPhone on OS 3.2 same data. Showed quickly via MobileMe. On the new iPhone added photo the photo. All OK. From an iPad, OS3 I did the same. Added photo in new phone. All OK. I added from the new iPhone including photo. All OK.
The iPhone IOS4 reboot may be the answer. Wish I had tried older systems before reboot.

  • I want to delete a contact from email contacts but cannot find contact in any of my contacts list

I want to delete a contact from email contacts but cannot find contact in any contact list.

In the present iOS, it's all or nothing. You can suggest Apple add the ability to edit the call history log here:

  • Import Contacts from emails like hotmail, gmail,...

Do you kno wany functions atht permit to import contacts from
main emails (yahoo.com, hotmail, gmail, ...) if the user accepts to
give his user and password .
it is used to send invitations to diffrent users. A lot of
sites begin to use that, it is completely viral and I found scripts
for .net, c++, php, vb, .. but not for ColdFusion.
It is comletely actaul to have this fucntion available since
concurrent use it and I don't find any way to do it in Coldfusion
except by using cfx_http5 but is does not use the API of the emails
providers and is not easy to support( if the email change his
design, the cfx_http5 function has to be corrected each time).
I think it could help a lot of users to have this function
    available for Cold Fusion.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it isn't possible, I was
just mentioning that you might want to consider another option,
giving the user a bit more control.
I haven't seen any CF based solutions for what you are
describing, but If you've found scripts in c++, consider turning
that into cfx_tag. If you can find a Java based solution, that
might be easier to integrate by installing the class/jar file and
    using cfobject.
Screen scraping is probably the only option unless the target
service provides an easily consumable source such as XML or through
an API. In the case of a Yahoo Premium account, you can export
contact information, such as to a CSV. You may also have to develop
the authentication mechanism which might require the use of an API
key along with some encryption mechanism (usually MD5) to encode
the api key, userid, and password to obtain an authentication
    token.
As far as "MySpace is doing it", there might be some behind
the scenes agreements that have been worked out both from a
technical as well as a legal aspect. I would suggest that you
contact each service that you are planning on supporting with this
feature directly. The response you get back should give you a
pretty clear indication on what is allowed, assuming you can get
    past the "Customer Support" screeners.
You mentioned that what you are attempting is temporary in
nature, but can the user be 100% convinced that it is temporary?
Unless the user has 100% access to your system to verify that the
information hasn't been kept in a log or database, they can't be
sure. Case in point, Disney is a well respected company but
recently one of their employees was caught in an Identity Theft
    Scheme. (
    http://www.identitytheft911-newdimensionsfcu.com/alerts/alert.ext?sp=996)
    A user's permission doesn't mean that you haven't violated
the services "TOS" . While there are coding applications in other
langages that can perform email harvesting, that doesn't
necessarily mean that they are legal just because they exist.
Here's an excerpt from the Yahoo Developer docs on the Mail
    API (
    http://developer.yahoo.com/mail/docs/html/index.html)
. Item 2, while it specifically states "User Data", the
contents of the address book could be easily construed as user
    data.
    1. You must use the Browser Based Authentication API to
enable access to the user's Yahoo! account through your
    Application.
    2. You may not use the Yahoo! Mail Web Service API to mine or
scrape user data from the user's Yahoo! account.
    3. You may not use the Yahoo! Mail Web Service API to
recreate a mimicked version of Yahoo! Mail on your site.
    4. You may not use the Yahoo! Mail Web Service API to display
the user's Yahoo! account information in a third party email
    client.

  • Cannot delete old contacts from Email send to list

Have deleted contacts from contacts list, from Email accounts in computer etc, still the old names remain. tried re-syncing accounts still didn't work.

It has been like that since as long as I can remember. Whenever you email someone from your phone it keeps their address in the previous recipients. I believe I read a long time ago that you can get rid of them by going into the settings app and reseting the network settings, but I've never tried it myself.

  • Iphone won't fetch contacts from email accounts

When I got and set up my iphone 4 it successfully important my contacts from two email accounts (Gmail and a Yahoo-connected label). But when I add new contacts on the computer, they don't show up on the phone. I've tried adjusting the "fetch" and "push" settings, but to no avail. What might I be doing wrong? Thanks.

Recieving email is no problem normally be that POP or IMAP based
However sending over 3G/Edge/GSM requires you to use the smtp address supplied by ATT to send over the mobile networks and NOT your ISP smtp.
You do however need to use your ISP smtp when at home to send over your Wifi.
When sending you may have better//more consistent results if you switch off any wifi connections and just use the ATT service to avoid having smtp conflicts.

  • Adding contacts from Yahoo Address Book

I want to add the contacts from my yahoo address book to my iPhone. Should I sync the contacts to my phone through iTunes or will it delete all my current contacts on my phone and I should just manually add the contacts onto the phone in order to not lose my current contacts?

Syncing my iPhone to Yahoo Address Book did not delete the contacts on my iPhone. It instead added the contacts to my phone and put the contacts from my phone into my Yahoo Address Book.

  • Sync added contacts from iPhone to Address Book

As I am out and about I add new contacts on my iPhone. But when I sync with my Mac they are ignored. This contrasts with other mobile phone suppliers who do a 'sync merge' as standard updating both the phone and PC with added and amended contacts since the last sync. How can I get iTunes to execute this most basic of functions?

I posted earlier today, asking how to get my contacts to sync both ways, or IF they can sync both ways, but so far, no one has replied. I updated my contacts on my imac (10.6.7) and when I try and sync my iphone4, it tells me if I go forward with the sync, it will effect at least 25% of my contacts on my computer, so the iphone, with the older contacts, is going to overwrite those in my address book on my mac.
I have been searching other posts to see if I can find the answer, and found this post here.  So I am wondering if resetting the sync history would help me?  I went to isync and clicked on it but the message is a bit unclear, to me anyway ;-)   It sounds like resetting the isync history will cause me to loose some information?  Can you clarify?  Or help me sort out how to get the updated contacts from my mac's address book into contacts on my iphone4?

  • Adding contacts from my Mac to my iPod

It seems I have somehow lost all but a half dozen Contacts on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). No idea how that happened. I spent some time inputting so it's kind of frustrating. Is there a way to get the contacts from my Address Book on my desktop Mac over to the Pod? I backed stuff up to the Cloud a while ago but it doesn't appear to be there.

Thanks, again. I followed the instructions from the iTunes 11 page but, there still seemed no option open to me. Turns out I had to turn OFF the Cloud in the iPod Settings (not obvious to me, the non-techie person) and then apply the changes to get my Contacts back. I have now turned the Cloud back on and all seems to be well so far. I presume it will store my Contacts properly and they won't go missing again. Weird little glitch there...

  • HT2486 how to sync all contacts from email server

I have configure Mail in Apple MACBook Air and all mails are in sync with server mailbox (MS Exchange) but my contact list is empty.
how to sync all my existing contacts from server to MACBook Air?

You can try using the Outlook.com API which is part of Live Connect.  The documentation can be found at

  • How do I add new contacts from email in Gmail app

I recently just switched over from the native iPhone Mail app to the Gmail app and I'm enjoying the Gmail app a lot.
However, I have one issue that I can seem to figure out.
With the Apple Mail app, inside any email you can hold down on the sender and it will allow you to save that email address as a new contact.
Is there a way to do this within the Gmail app? When you hold down on the senders info it only allows you to copy the info. It doesn't send it to the Contacts app to make a new contact.
Am I missing something or does the Gmail app just not sync up with Contacts that way?
    I'm running an iPhone 4S ios 6.1.3
    Thanks!!

The mail app that came with the phone allows you to add email senders as contacts because that feature is built into the iphone operating software.  I have looke dat gmail app on my phone and htere is no way of doing what you said you would like to do

  • Can't create new contacts from email message

I get an email message that has a phone number in it and of course an email address. I want to create a new contact. I hold down on the phone number and a dialog appears asking if I want to add to contacts. I select it and press Create New Contact. I type in a name. I click Done. The dialog disappears. I go to Contacts and there is no entry. Is this supposed to work?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

This solved it. Don't know why. Shouldn't be like this. When I searched for it, the file appeared. Not only it it appear but my three other attempts appeared as well. All four of them are in Contacts. That's a bit wacked I think.
    Thanks very much.
Wait it gets better. I went back to the email. Clicked the email address to save it. Selected Add to existing contact. Found the contact. Added it. Click Done, and the name is gone again from the Conatcts directory. Used the search function again, and it reappeared.
But there's more. Left the phone app. Came back to it and the name is gone again. Apparently every time I want this name I have to add it by searching in Spotlight, and of course it's not updating iCloud so it's never going to get back to my computer.

  • Search recently added contact from Nokia E71. Plea...

    Hello Everyone,
I have Nokia E71 and I have problem in searching a very important contact which I ha added about 14 days ago.
I am very confused for how can I search this contact as fast a possible.
I there is any way to search this contact as I am not remembering any single detail of this saved contact and I have about 750 contacts saved in my cell, so to find one by one each contact is also not possible. So anyone please help. Any paid or unpaid application installation availability is also preferable as that contact is very important for me.

    Hello Swati,
You can search that contact if you install Zebrost from ovi store. Here is the link for installing Zebrost-
    http://store.ovi.com/content/37501?clickSource=browse&categoryId=23&contentArea=applications
After installing Zebrost, go to your contact list and type #a15 if you want to search the contact that you saved 15 days ago and #a20 if you want to search contact saved in last 20 days and so on. You can also search the contact with job title as manager as it searches contact in all fields.

  • Changed over to email, when adding contacts to email, says they are invalid when they are not.

Since changing over to the new improved email system, so I could be more organized, when I try and put my contacts in, it says they are invalid and doesn't recognize them.  When in fact there are no spelling errors, the emails are typed in correctly, with correct characters.  I am so frustrated.  Any answers?

There are no known issues with the creating of contacts. We would like to see the methodology of input  as well as the content you are putting in. I have sent you a private message so we can work further on this
