Adding contacts via a PC.

Previously I had a Nokia and used their 'PC Suite' to add contact details as it was easier than using the phone keypad. I could enter all of the information and then upload the details directly to my phone.
Now that I am using BB desktop manager I am wondering what is the best way to transfer input from my PC. I can see the options to export data (as a CSV file) but the options insist on enclosing the fields with speech marks and by the time it is imported into Excel it is a nightmare as telephone numbers are converted to mumeric fields and lose the starting zero etc.
Is there an easier way to do what I want? Perhaps a thrid party program or suchlike even? I 'vbe only had my BB8320 a few days and love it already but theoptions available on the desktop manager seem very limited compared to the Nokia options.

Step 1.: Syncronize your PC Suite with your phone, to make sure it has all your contacts (I assume you know how to do this). Then, from the Contacts app (part of the Communication Centre, as Nokia likes to call it nowadays) in PC Suite select File / Export and save the comma separated file.
Step 2.: Using Nokia2Google open the previously exported csv file, and just save it as a different file. Conversion to the Google format is automatically done, as you save it.
Step 3.: In the GMail web interface go to Contacts and press the Import button. Select the saved cvs file and confirm the import. And there you go.

Adding contacts via Mail app not working

New feature for iOS 8 will capture information from a mail message and allow you to add a contact.
It works most of the time, but I have had several mail messages with contact information (phone number, different Email, address) that will not allow me to add them to the contacts with this new feature. I tested it with a user and had her send me a message formatted the same way as another message that worked and it still would not allow me to add her via the new feature. Is the phone looking for certain information in a particular format in order for it to be added?

Just got my first iPhone, an iPhone5. I added the contacts via my Mac, but the phone on its own added my 5000 Facebook friends as contacts and won't let me delete them. How can I delete them? Thanks.

I just got my first cell phone, an iPhone5. I added my contacts via my Mac. But the phone on its own imported the contact info of all 5000 of my Facebook "friends." When I go to one of them, hit edit, and try to delete them, the phone tells me that I cannot delete a Facebook friend. This is a nightmare. Please, I beg you, tell me how I can get these Facebook friends off of my contacts list. Thank you!

Newly added contacts suddenly become strangers (not shared their details with you)

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). After re-sending the contact request multiple times (which is instantly accepted, it doesn't seem to even display on my friend's side, he just instantly becomes my contact again) it seems to have sorted itself out and that person is now in my contacts, hopefully for good. Now yesterday I added a new contact and the same thing happens, she appears as a stranger about 10 minutes after accepting my contact request, even though it seemed fine on the mobile app while she was online, but now even mobile considers her as not part of my contacts, and also her profile picture isn't displaying on the mobile app. Note : there is already a thread about this in the Skype for Windows Desktop section, however since this problem has clearly nothing to do with the client you're using and is related to the platform/whatever software runs on Microsoft's servers, I'm reposting this here. Skype for Windows Desktop version 6.20.0.104 running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and Skype for iPhone version "idon'tknowwhat because there's no "about" page apparently" running on iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5S. My Skype account isn't linked with any Facebook nor Microsoft account (it was, but it's been unlinked about two months ago). Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below). I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work. I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together. My contact does the same. As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact. When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names. On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'. They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them. I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved. I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now. I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed. I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit. I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version. I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out. I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things, I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. Adding contacts to my new 8900 is not working.

adding contacts from oultlook and /or outlook express to my new 8900 is not working. i tried everything from removing and re-installing the desktop manager to removing the battery of the device. nothing seems to be working.

Ah, very helpful when we have the complete information.
Desktop Manager 4.7 is not compatible with Outlook 2000, so that won't work. You will need to use DM version 4.2, Service Pack 2; or upgrade your Outlook to 2003 or better.
For Express, it should work with Outlook Express 6. Check your advanced sync settings configuration and make sure you have it set to two-way sync and to notify you.

Need help 2 get my new BB to receive my contacts via bluetooth from od phone!

Hi guys, I just got a lovely BB Curve today and have spent the last 4 hours trying in vain to get it receive my contacts list via bluetooth from my old phone. I have paired them up and can send to my old phone but cannot receive to my BB. My old phone attempts to connect and then it comes up with a connection failed message. I have tried all sorts: making sure phones are visibile, setting them to 2 mins ....then changing it to "yes" ...making sure devices trust connection and then asking for a prompt....taking the encryption off...then leaving it on....
I really am at my wits end as I have over 150 contacts and cannot face having to write them all out and manually type them in
I am also terrified of getting into my new car tomorrow and finding out that my BB won't pair to my in-car bluetooth set up!

Not sure you can send/receive contacts via BLUETOOTH. Once the two devises are paired, then your done with the 2 minute limit and all that stuff. If each devise sees the name of the other devise, your done there. Then make sure there "connected" to each other. If not select the devise, press menu and select connect. Once that's done, your connected. Your car set-up should be just as simple. The setting about phone book entries, is for a bluetooth devise (headset, your car... things you make calls from and talk through) to have 'access' to your phone book to easily make phone calls. It doesn't copy or transfer your phone book, just has access. If your old phone has an option to "send contact via bluetooth" you'll probably have to do that for each contact and even then, I don't know that Blackberry will take it. Blackberry will however take v-cards. So if your old phone can e-mail a v-card, that would work. Blackberry can also synchronize with desktop applications like microsoft outlook and ever google mail. That way you'll have all your contacts from these locations as well. If your old phone can sync with these applications, that's another way to complete this task. This is done through your Blackberry Desktop Manager which also has a sync with other devises' so if your old phone has the ability to connect to a computer, you could try that. Many mobile phone carriers have software in their stores that help with this process and might be able to do this for you without charge.

Was this the very first time you ever plugged the phone into that computer?
Did you pay attention to the prompts you were given when you plugged it in?
Did you have iCloud backups turned on before you did this? I hope so... If you did, restore the phone from the last iCloud backup from before you wiped it. If not, then the photos, etc. are gone. Apps and music can be re-downloaded.

that's the fun thing:
You add your own property (and it'll be invisible to outlook users, not to worry).
Extended Properties allow you to define custom property on Exchange Items. And it has a
method for setting those too.
Here's a short post doing a very simple intro on using Extended Properties.
Glen's Exchange Blog is a generally useful resource when working with EWS, I'm confident you'll be able to find lots of tips there as well.

I have similar problems trying to synchronize my calendar, also after update on 7.1.1. on my Iphone 5.
It doesn;t replace the outlook entries on Iphone 5.
I didn,t try to synchronize the contacts, because it may fail.

As I am not willing to put my Contacts data on iCloud, I am no longer able to update Contacts between MacBook, iPhone and iPad. This greatly reduces the value of these products.

Sending contacts via SMS

Hi!
I would like to get your expert advice on the issue we are experiencing with our Z10 and Q10 units and this is about sending of contacts/business cards.
We are not sure if it is a network-related thing. Tested on two different carriers as well with the same result.
The issue is that while BB Q10/Z10 have the facility to share a contact via SMS, it seems to be not working.
We do it by holding a particular contact that we wish to share, then click share icon.
From the options, we choose 'Text Messaging, fill in the 'To' field, enter a message and then press the send button.
While the .vcf is seen to be attached, nothing happens and a red clock icon just appears.
Recipient does not receive the business card.
Is this a known issue on BB10 devices?

Hi manalotomarvin,
When sending a VCard via SMS, the BlackBerry smartphone switches into MMS mode. If MMS service is not enabled for the device, you will not be able to send the VCard.
I would recommend testing the MMS service by sending a photo to another contact via SMS, to see if that will send. If this fails, I would suggest contacting the wireless network provider, to verify MMS service is enabled.

Will newly added contacts and messages gets deleted after restoring old backup on iphone..??

Hey everyone, i backup my iphone 4 a month ago after that , i defeated the final remaining enemy 'ryth' in infinity blade 2
than after 3 months i bought my new 4th gen ipad 32gb with cellular i installed unfinity blade 2 on it an when launches it it started from begining, don't know why icloud saves didn't worked. But the problem is that now on my iphone it also sarted from begining. Some discussion said backup your phone for this problem but if i backup my phone from that one month old backup will it delete my new added contacts, new messages on phone and on whatsapp?
and if anyone have solution for IB2 without restoring the hone that would be great....! Plz halp...!!

I must be more specific:
I am attempting to send a vcf from a Windows Computer using Outlook to another Email account that syncs with an iPhone. When I read the e-mail on the iPhone, I can't see the vcf file. But I can see the contact on outlook as a VCF.

install the Desktop Manager. you can download it from the software section of the Blackberry.com website.
take the one "without Media manager" and install it on your PC.
then after openingthe Desktop Manager :
first, do a backup of what's in your Blackberry Storm
then you can do a manual synchronization, just choose ascii file and follow the instructions.
