Adding copyrights

I am trying to add my copyrights to my photos and the organizer is missing the Advance Dialog box from the photo downloader.
I'm using Photoshop Elements 9 on Windows Vista 32-bit.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • What is best practice for adding copyright page, etc?

    Hi Folks,
    I'm using iBooks Author for the first time. When I added a copyright page using Insert > Pages > Section > Copyright, I get a loose page that I was able to drag in front of the table of contents. However, the copyright page now has no formatting. That is, it spans a full two-page spread without the page break in the middle, like the rest of the book. How can I get the the same format for pages before the TOC?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    iBooks Author will definitely need a code view feature to users can hack the XML manually and fix these things.
    While I don't see that happening , (a) you can show package contents and go nuts now, if you like and (b). feel free to use iBA's menu to feedback [ http://www.apple.com/feedback/ibooks-author.html ] for any features, changes, etc. you may have in mind for the future and (c) remember, the best defense is a good offense...best way to stay out of jams w/IBA is to not get into them in the first place...practice with different templates to see which may support specific needs.
    For use of the appllcation, if you haven't seen it already, try:

  • Adding copyright question

    Is there any way to add a logo copyright instead of just the standard typed info in Lightroom or even in CS3? I'd like to add logo to batch things and am not fond of the typed copyright look in lightroom.

    Not natively. You either use LR/mogrify (google for it) as an export plugin, or you use the print panel in 2.0 beta.

  • How to remove copyright text

    Just created my first iphoto book, was going to get it printed when i noticed in the slideshow that next to every photo or on every page there is a copyright symbol with my name next to it. Is there anyway to remove that? I went into settings, and i see the option, but cannot set it to zero, i can only control the font and size, therefore it will not remove it from my pages. I also unselected "automatically enter photo information" because the photo file numbers where showing up on the book before i unselected that. The photo book is for a client and i don't want my name showing on every photo and page.
    Thanks for any help you can provide!

    adding copyrights to photos is not a feature of iPhoto - how did you add these copyright notices? Where are you seeing this option? I do not and have never seen a copyright option in iPhoto '09.
    the proper way to preview your book is Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it. A slide show is not a good, accurate preview of your book

  • How best to include a copyright in JavaDoc?

    Hello.
    I am wondering how best to include a copyright notice, standard legal boilerplate, etc. in JavaDocs.
    I realize that many developers include the text directly in a JavaDoc comment (perhaps using a template in their IDE for generating that automatically), but that seems less than ideal to me. Having a long boilerplate takes up a lot of unnecessary space in source files; with several hundred or thousand source files, that can be a big waste. Also, if the notice needs to be changed or updated, than going back to find and edit every instance of the notice can be challenging, even with a global search and replace. What I would like is basically the equivalent of an "include" tag that will include a single copyright notice wherever it appears, but JavaDoc does not appear to have a suitable feature.
    The initial approach I have taken is to define a custom taglet with this ability. I am also playing with a custom annotation for noting copyrighted code as an additional reference to the copyright notice. The basic structure I have so far looks like this, in org.sample.legal:
    - Copyright.java (interface defining a few constants such as default copyright date, default owner, etc. as well as the full default copyright notice)
    - CopyrightAnnotation.java (annotation type for marking code as copyrighted)
    - CopyrightTaglet.java (taglet for adding "@copyright" tags in JavaDoc)
    Here's what the top of CopyrightTaglet looks like, to give a better sense of what it can handle:
    package org.sample.legal;
    import com.sun.tools.doclets.Taglet;
    import com.sun.javadoc.*;
    import java.util.Map;
    * Represents the "@Copyright" tag.  If empty, the default copyright notice
    * will be displayed.
    * <p>This tag can be used in any overview, package, class, or interface
    * {@link com.sun.javadoc.Doc}.  This is not an inline tag.</p>
    * <p>The tag can display a default value, the default value modified with
    * a different copyright date, or a completely custom value.  To display the
    * default value, use "@Copyright" alone.</p>
    * <p>To specify a different date, enter the copyright years separated by
    * dashes (-) or commas (,); optional spaces are allowed.  For example, the
    * following will be recognized as valid dates:</p>
    * <ol>
    * <li>"@Copyright 1999"</li>
    * <li>"@Copyright 1999, 2000"</li>
    * <li>"@Copyright 2001-2003</li>
    * <li>"@Copyright 2001-3, 2005</li>
    * </ol>
    * <p>To display a completely custom value, simply enter whatever text is to be
    * displayed after the "@Copyright" tag.</p>
    * <p>The text is displayed in italics to remind the reader of its
    * importance.</p>
    * @Copyright
    @CopyrightAnnotation
    public class CopyrightTaglet
    implements Copyright, Taglet {
    private static final String NAME   = "Copyright";
    private static final String HEADER = "Copyright:";The "@Copyright" tag by itself produces output (based on the constants in the Copyright interface) like this:
    Copyright:
    Copyright &copy; 2008 by Sample Organization. All rights reserved.
    I have this all working fine, but my main question concerns whether this is a reasonable approach. Is there a better approach to this problem of making a single copy of the copyright text available everywhere? What other approaches are common?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Your approach lets you choose which classes, interfaces and members are copyrighted, or apply different copyrights for different parts of the source code. But in many cases (such as the Java API), the entire published API gets the same copyright notice. So we put the notice in the footer of each page:
    -bottom '<font size="-1">Submit
    a bug or feature<br><br>Java is a trademark or registered trademark of Sun Microsystems,
    Inc. in the US and other countries.<br>Copyright 1993-1999 Sun Microsystems, Inc.

  • Copyright Message

    I wish to add copyright information to my photos. I want to do this:
    a) as part of the file metadata (I believe there is away to do this in full Photoshop)
    b) As a text layer in the photo (embossed?, transparent?). I suspect I need a jpeg that I can add to the picture - but need help on how to do this effectively
    How can I do these two things?

    Hugh,
    Here are some options for adding copyright to the metadata of your files:
    - You can add the copyright automatically as you import photos using the Adobe Photo Downloader. In the downloader, click Advanced Dialog at the bottom, then under Apply Metadata on the right, select Template To Use: Basic Metadata. Then you can enter a value for Copyright.
    If you use this option, however, beware that a bug in PSE 6 will prevent the downloader from correctly identifying duplicate files that it has already downloaded from your camera or card.
    - In the Full Editor, you can add a copyright to individual files using the File > File Info command.
    - You could get a third-party tool such as "exiftool" that will add copyright notices to a batch of files at once. I'm sure there are other tools that do this as well.

  • Removing copyright notice from images

    Hope someone can help me with this one........ whilst looking at watermarking techniques in PS6, I have inadvertantly added  "Copyright Eric Hall" which is attached to all of the images I convert from RAW to JPEG. All of the images I upload to Facebook have this copyright notice attached.  Can anyone tell me how I remove it. Thanks in advance  :-)

    Yep convert all your raw to jpg without the watermark, easy as that. Before the conversion verify what you want in your metadata and make sure when you do the conversion (assuming through a script via batch or image processor) that your action for creating a watermark is not included.
    If this does not help, then you are going to have to go into detail and probably post a screen shot of your watermark and how it was originally added as Chris mentions.

  • Microsoft Pro Photo - Geotag metadata in Lightroom

    Geotagging (embedding location information in image metadata) has occasionally been mentioned in posts in this forum, but I just thought I'd share my recent experiences with Microsoft Pro Photo Tools (MPPT) with those that may not be aware of its existence/capabilities.
    MPPT is essentially a metadata editor with Geotagging capability - and it is free (
    ). Since version 2 it has supported Adobe's XMP sidecar file format. I've recently used it with the following workflow to tag my images with location info directly from a separate GPS:
    1. Whilst shooting pictures, I carry around my Garmin GPS, recording my track (optional).
    2. Back at home, I download my images into LR, automatically adding copyright metadata, etc to all files at import.
    3. I download the track information from my Garmin GPS, saving it as a GPX file.
    4. I then open up the track GPX file and the images in MPPT.
    5a. Based on the date/time exif data embedded in the image file and the date/time information in the track file, MPPT automatically identifies the location of each image and displays them on a map.
    5b. If you have no GPS, you can easily enter in location and fine tune on a map. For example, enter "Seattle Art Museum" and the selected images are associated with the location of the Seattle Art Museum and shown on a map for you to fine tune!
    6. With one click, MPTT then writes location metadata (Country, State, City, Location, etc) to either the original image file or the sidecar XMP (depending on user defined configuration) - I write the data to XMP.
    7. Back to Lightroom and sync metadata (one click). At that point, all the location metadata is visible within the Library module.
    I was impressed how easy this all was. One day this capability may well be within LR, but until then this is an easy way to geotag your images.

    Have you looked at Jeffrey Friedl's cross platform tool? http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/gps and http://regex.info/blog/2008-10-29/979
    This works inside Lightroom, understands track log files, works with manual tagging from google maps and much more.

  • Organizing image library with Bridge

    Hi! I'm new to the Adobe Forums but very experienced online. I need some help with Bridge.
    I've been tasked with cleaning up an existing image library of (currently) ~40,000 images. I have another batch of ~8,000 files I'll be adding later. I'm using Bridge CC on Windows 7. I don't have access to Lightroom, haven't used Bridge much since CS3, and use Aperture as my DAM at home, so I'm re-discovering how things work.
    We have numerous, not well-organized folders with many duplicates, retouched versions, multiple sizes, etc. I want to be able to search, delete duplicates manually, and move remaining files into a new folder structure. I'm also assigning labels and adding copyright/ownership metadata.
    I'm having a couple of problems using the Edit->Find command.
    When I've run Find and built a list, then do any editing operation like delete files, the Find command starts over instead of retaining the existing results. This is obviously time-consuming and throws me out of whatever set of images I'm trying to manage. Is there a way to use the Find results and NOT have Bridge start the search over?
    I also need a way to search with both AND and OR operators. Example: Find JPEG or TIFF or Photoshop or Camera RAW images and filename foo. I can't use specific criteria to narrow my search, so I'm getting a huge set of results. This takes forever, eats RAM, and my first issue makes it impossible to do any editing.
    I'd also appreciate any tips or suggestions to make this job easier.
    Thanks in advance for the assistance.
    Dave

    I'm not sure why that functionality isn't just built into a better Find command? Adobe?
    As this is a user to user forum you are not addressing Adobe here, you need to use the Feature request site from Photoshop Family for this:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/
    Also be aware that you have very specific needs and while Bridge can be a very powerful tool for organizing files it s not that very good for archiving in long term with large numbers of files. ideally you should use a combination of Bridge and a real dedicated DAM (digital asset management) application like Canto Cumulus (can be costly for custom build solutions but has also a single user version at a reasonable price) Canto can find duplicates by itself and has the option to build customized queries for searching.
    You also have Extensis Portfolio and some other reasonable cheap solutions you could take a look at. However, for the ideal DAM you need a custom build one that sadly comes also with a price

  • Trying to import and rename Raw files in an automated process

    I have been managing for quite a while with Bridge and ACR but recently started playing with the demo of Lightroom and bought the software yesterday. There have been no problems key wording or processing existing Raw files etc. but I have become a bit unstuck on the process of importing new Raw files to the catalogue and I wondered if anybody can offer some advice on best practices. I am trying to maintain the formula I adopted after reading the DAM book.
    My plan was to have Lightroom see the raw files as the card is mounted on my desktop and add them to the catalogue in a predesignated place, while automatically renaming them according to my standard file name format e.g Karyl_Raw_090402_V5F8581.dng, then adding copyright data and converting to DNG all at the same time.
    I just ran a test with a small number of files and Lightroom was able to import the files complete with the copyright data stored in the IPTC section, which I had previously edited as a metadata preset, but it didn't rename them apart from adding the .dng suffix and they were all dumped in a subfolder within my user's picture folder on the Mac. In ACR I used to import the original .CR2 files, make any adjustments and then do a batch rename before copying to the final folder, which all worked. Obviously the hope is to make this all very automated and efficient so I'd be grateful for any pointers and good advice.
    Thanks
    Ashley

    I seem to be getting there now and have discovered the renaming presets on the right hand side of the import panel. It's actually all working rather well but I'd like to find out more about the various IPTC fields to see if there is more information I should be adding.

  • Export a pdf to a swf file with navigation buttons???

    I have CS4 and I've tried to export a couple indesign files using the swf export feature, but it the navigation of the file is very weak and not very intuitive, and when you zoom in to any of the text the text goes fuzzy.
    I would like to just convert a PDF to SWF file with navigation buttons, page controls, zoom in/out, single or two page view options, so that my end user can view it with the free flash player, but I don't have time to build the file in Flash and I don't want to use an online service that comes with a per month or per publication fee.
    Any suggestions??

    I've looked at that, but most of the pdf's that I need to convert are more than 10 pages.  I want a program I can download, install and use without a per use cost, or per publication cost.
    I'm looking more for a plug-in for either Acrobat, or Indesign or stand alone program that would convert them without adding copyrights, or ads to the file.

  • Multiple Imperative Feature Requests

    I am a MN Photographer and have been using PS Lightroom through 2 betas and 2 release versions. I have been amazed at the improvements Adobe has added, but from my point of view, they need to add a few more features to make LR more robust and efficient!
    I love the way LR makes terrific web galleries!
    I am running LR from a Seagate Barracuda 300 External Hard Drive with Firewire connection. I am using a Mac Powerbook (1GHz Processor) with 60GB HD and 55% free, w/ 2GB DRAM, and an Apple Cinema Display. I can't complain about slow downs, but keep my permissions tuned once a week, both on the Mac PB and all EHDs.
    LIGHTROOM FEATURE REQUESTS
    1. From the Web module, there is only one option for adding Copyright Info to images in the Web Galleries, either ON or OFF. It would be a great addition to have this option variable by type size, type placement on images, and opacity. I last generated a web gallery and some of the images said, "2007 Alex Bachnick All Rights Reserved," but many of the images said, "Alex Bachnick All Rights Reserved," without a year. A few images said, "Copyright 2007 Alex Bachnick All Rights Reserved," like it is supposed to! The LR application has been inconsistent so far in this area. By adding a line of copy that can be saved, and by varying the opacity and placement on images would be a huge step forward!
    2. It is IMPERATIVE that you embed metadata into the Web gallery images. This is primarily for adding keywords and copyright information, but LR is inconsistent so far. Sometimes metadata is preserved, but it doesn't always get embedded when exporting images.
    3. When I generated a Flash Web Gallery, some of the color was good, some of it was terrible. I have suggested before that you write into the action that takes the original image, reduces it in size, then convert to profile from Prophoto to sRGB. I suspect that you have a script in there "Save for Web". This script is denigrating the color when Convert to Profile would preserve the color. Admittedly Safari is the primary web browser I use, and it's color-centric, whereas most of the others IE, Netscape, and Mozilla, aren't.
    4. When I use HTML for the web galleries, the color is spot on, but a young friend told me it would be better to hit one button to go through the images as in a rapidly advancing slide show, rather than hitting each image, and then wait for it to enlarge. This could be another marked improvement, if you made the output a slideshow from the Web Module.
    5. I tried generating a slideshow from the Lightroom menu, and had about 200 images in a collection. The application went through the motions, but I tried opening the slideshow but it didn't work. I tried it in PDF format and it output a 135MB file that ADobe Acrobat couldn't open. It is still not working. I have also used a third party application Photo to Movie (www.LQGraphics.com). This is a $50 application that you can add music to and vary the zooms and dissolves and this works incredibly well!!!
    6. One of my biggest problems so far is the sort mechanism. I have about 9500 images in my library, and about 5% of those were made from about 2004 and on. My images are sorted by "capture time," but the images shot back in CY 2004--2005 are mixed in somewhere way down in the pile. There are some bugs in the program for reading the capture time, and so far this is not working accurately!
    7. From the Lightroom Library module, several times I have exported images for 3rd party needs and the application puts out varying results. In March I output some images for Communication Arts magazine. They specified file size and format, and it took me several times to export the images to their specifications. I recently exported some images for submission to a UK based stock photography agent. The images came from 5 different cameras~~Hasselblad w/ Imacon Digital Back, Kodak DCS-14, Canon 1ds MkII, and Canon D-20. There were 10 images that needed to be output as JPEGs (

    1. LR uses what was written in the copyright field so it's your data entry that is inconsistent.
    2. Are you 100% certain this is not working reliably under 1.1? It definitely wasn't working at all under 1.0 and Adobe responded to complaints. Since 1.1, I've taken large numbers of Web-generated pictures into iView and not found any cases where the metadata was missing. "Sometimes" is too vague. How exactly can you prove it? What programs prove it?
    3. Not sure, but isn't this a problem because of Flash? Also the browser you use is not important - it's the browser that your visitor uses that you need to focus on.
    4. Realistically, Flash is better for this. You can always get someone to write/modify HTML templates to do such a slideshow, but the built-in templates are already very complex and this suggestion would add another layer of browser incompatibility.
    7. This isn't a feature request. Raise this in the main forum - and be specific (your post was also too long and got truncated). How can anyone help you if you say "varying results"? It's unlikely that any variation is random.
    John

  • Quicktime pro settings for the Ipod and web.

    I was reading an article on creating files specifically optimized playback on Ipod and I also listed the video formats that are supported below. Below these settings are 2 questions that I have.
    H.264 video
    File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
    Video: Up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3
    Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
    MPEG-4 video
    File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
    Video: Up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile
    Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
    Is it possible in Quicktime Pro to create one file that could be used for a website to download and view 30 minute videos in Quicktime as well as be available for people to download to their ipods?
    For the website I realize I would want to use the correct HTML protocol as well as the "Fast Start" features in Quicktime Pro for playback while downloading.
    If it is possible,what settings could be used to create this type of file that could be used for a website and ipod?

    I would still use the save as method to change the file extension. The default "open with" application for .m4v is iTunes, not QuickTime Player and not all users have installed it. Viewers know what a .mov file is. A .m4v may confuse them.
    Use the Export to iPod settings (nearly foolproof) and test the file so you're sure it plays in QuickTime and the iPod.
    Next use the Movie Info window to add "Annotations". These can be things like changing the "title", adding copyright notices, artist names and dozens of other things.
    Also set the movie "poster frame". This special frame shows as an image when, or if, you decide to use RSS feeds or Podcasts for the file.
    Now that you've edited the file you need to save it. A "regular" Save may not preserve the fast start properties. Using "Save As" will restore the fast start feature.
    Your viewers can either watch the file in the browser window or click on your other link and choose to save the file to their computer.

The images came from 5 different cameras~~Hasselblad w/ Imacon Digital Back, Kodak DCS-14, Canon 1ds MkII, and Canon D-20, and Canon S-3. There were 10 images that needed to be output as JPEGs (their specs), but again, the copyright info and keywords had to be added to the files in Photoshop afterwards. Half the images needed to be resized, because the images were supposed to be 48MB files! I spent an hour doing what LR should have but didn't!!! This application is supposed to be saving me time, but in this case, I spent more time in PS CS2 getting it right.
    Finally, Adobe folks have worked really hard to get us working photographers an application that works across multiple platforms. Can we all work together to get these much needed improvements into the LR application? Please? Please? Please? Pretty please w/ sugar and honey!!!
    I talked to a friend yesterday who submits work to various magazines and stock agencies and is using Photomechanic and IViewMedia Pro to add metadata, captions, and keywords. These 2 applications are doing what Lightroom should be able to do~~consistently adding copyright info to files as embedded metadata.
    Lightroom has a ways to go, and I will be glad to get eventually a "one-stop-shopping" program that fulfills all my image output needs!
    Thanks,
