Adding D110a wireless printer to Mac

Hello, I've been working for hours trying to install my new D110a printer to my Mac, running OS 10.6.5.  After researching other issues in the forums, I've still had no luck.
• The printer is connected to my Linksys WRT110 router and is working with ePrint services just fine (The router uses WPA2 Personal with TKIP or AES)
• I am able to connect to the printer via a WIFI-connected Dell laptop
• From my Mac, I can always connect to the printer's EWS
• My Mac can find and print to the printer within the first minute of turning on the printer (most of the time), but after that minute, finding the printer and printing to it is impossible (connecting to the EWS is still possible from the Mac, though)
• I have downloaded the newest HP drivers for Mac and have run HP update on the printer
• The printer is set on a static IP, which again has been working with ePrint and my Dell
• When I add the printer to my mac via the IP address, I can intermittently connect to the printer's information via "HP Utility", but when I try to print, it says that the printer is "Paused" (I resume, but it goes back to being paused)
• Trying to connect via Bonjour is just as inconsistent
Again, I've gotten it to work on occasion, but nowhere near consistent.  I've disabled Norton and the firewall, but still no luck.
I've gone through the mac troubleshooting info already.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Let me know if you need more information.
Joe

All right--I repeated step 2 from (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=40232... again, and tried to install...no luck.
I restored the router to factory defaults, restored the printer to factory defaults, and started from scratch.
Again, I was able to install the find and install the printer within one minute of turning on the printer through the installation.  I could print, scan and communicate without any problems, from my Mac.  After a few minutes though, my computer wasn't able to find the printer.  I couldn't print, scan, or gather information from the printer.  I could print via ePrint, but not directly from my computer.
When I try installing again, it won't find the printer...UNLESS I turn off the printer and turn it back on again (then communications are fine for the first few minutes, then gone again thereafter).
Quick question--can the printer be connected to more than one computer?  Or do I need to set it up through one computer, and have the computer share the printer?  This wouldn't solve my problem, necessarily, because no other computer is turned on when I'm working on this...just curious.
Thanks again for the help,
Joe

what is a good wireless printer for mac POC 10.7.4,having problems with hp 3050A

    Hello Flajack,
Thanks for the post.  I did some checking here and the HP 3050a is compatible with MAC OS 10.7 in a wireless environment.  What kind of issues are you having?  Installation? Connectivity?  Maintaining a wireless connection?  I've included a couple of my favorite links below to assist in getting this resolved.  Check the information in these links and let me know how it goes from there.  Good Luck!

  • Adding a wireless printer

I am are trying to add a Canon MP620 wireless printer to our office setup of 2 G5's (non intel) with an airport extreme (the older round type as my avatar) but after installing the printer software and drivers the next step should be to go to the main menu on the airport extreme and select 'ADD WIRELESS CLIENTS' but for some reason this is dimmed and we can proceed no further.
I have tried adding the printer by turning on the mac address under 'ACCESS' and adding the address here but this does not work either. I have tried every conceivable configuraton in the manual setup of the airport extreme settings with no joy.
The printer and airport are both 802.11g/b compliant, so no conflict there. I have even taken the printer home and set it up in exactly the same way with my G5 (again non intel) but with a time machine which worked straight away.
Does anyone know why the 'ADD WIRELESS CLIENTS' should be dimmed?

Resolved by connecting directly to mac as per Apple's site on connecting a wireless printer. However it took 3 go's before it worked.

  • Best all-in-one wireless printer for Mac 10.9.2

Looking for best wireless all-in-one for home use.  I have Mac OSX 10.9.2, iPhone 5, iPad and a wireless network.  Not technically inclined.  Any recommendations?

I wish a few more users would take the time to share their experiences with printers. I have had a Canon MX870 for several years that is nothing but a perpetual headache -- it needs to be reconnected to the network three or four times a day or it simply will not print. There are lots of posts on this topic and I have tried every possible solution with no luck. I am reluctant to buy another Canon -- this experience has left me doubting their products. I am also reluctant, based on past experience, to consider an HP product. So that pretty much leaves Epson -- but which Epson? I am looking for an all-in-one wireless printer that will STAY CONNECTED to the network. Top-quality printing would be nice, but frankly, it's not on the top of my priority list. I just want to be able to use the printer, scanner and copier without wasting an hour of my day on maintenance. If you have had positive experience in this regard, please take a few seconds to post your recommendations. Thanks. (I am running the latest version of Mavericks on a new Mac Pro.)

  • Where did the window go that gives the choice to connect by bonjour to a wireless printer in Mac OS 10.8?

I am trying to set up a wireless printer to a new macbook pro.  Both the printer and the computer are on the same network but are "not connected".  The printer works fine connected USB.  In previous systems there is a window that gives the choice of how to connect and bonjour is listed along with USB.  I cannot seem to find that window in 10.8.  I think the computer is just trying to connect USB and needs to be told to look for wireless printers?  The printer does not even appear in the add window when it is unplugged.  The drivers are updated.  I have restarted everything.  I have also run the wireless set up app that came with the printer.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks, Barbara

First is the wireless in the printer connected to your router? Is the Mac connected wireless to that same router? Can the Mac ping (/YourHardDrive/Applications/Utilities/Network Utility, ping mini-tab) the printer's IP (that your wireless router gave to that printer)?
Plus in 10.8.x to add a printer is first to get it's "driver" for that printer. Sometimes Apple might have a driver (for certain models) that will get in Software Update (when printer is attched to your Mac). The other way is to go to printer's web page and get their latest OS X drivers.
Then once you have the drive just open System Preferences->Print & Scan pane and use the + button to add the new driver for the printer. For this networked printer make sure you get the IP of that printer because you might need that IP here.

  • Wireless printer for Mac OS X v 10.5.8

I have a Mac OS X v 10.5.8 - are there any wireless printers that will work with this version?  I purchased an HP Deskjet 3520 and it is not compatible.  Apparently I need to have a minimum of 10.6.  What HP printers are compatible?
    Thank you.

  • HP C6180 not responding with wireless print from Mac OS X 10.9

My Printer does not work with wireless printing from my Macbook Air OS X 10.9
I tried all the normal stuff I can find.
The text that is there is: The Printer is not responding.

    Hi XavierMaassen,
I understand you have a Photosmart C6180 that you're having issues using in Mac 10.9. I'm sorry to hear this has been happening, but I will certainly do my best to assist you.
I'm wondering how you installed the printer. If you had it installed prior to upgrading to 10.9 that could be part of the problem. There are currently no HP drivers available for this printer for 10.9, so you need to uninstall the HP software and install the printer via the Apple updates. Once you do that you should be able to print normally and scan using 3 different methods.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • No way to set up wireless printing in Mac OS X Lion

I just got a CP1025nw color LaserJet, and there appears to be no way to set up the wireless printing feature in Lion.  The included HP Installer application on the CD refuses to run on any system later than 10.6.x.  The software downloaded through Apple's software update feature allows me to print over USB, but there is no capability to set up the wireless.

    Hi zcave,
For products that don't have the option to connect to wireless networks using the front panel, the only option is with the Full Feature software install. Currently this product does not have a Full Feature software solution.
There is a workaround, if you have a windows pc as well (or have a way to get the product near a windows pc - i.e. a friend's house - temporarily).
You can run through the USB setup of Wireless from a windows system, inputting your home wireless network info during this process. Following that, the printer will be on the network (or will be configured for your network, if you brought the printer to a friend's house). Now, after installing the driver on the Mac via USB, you just need to remove the printer from Print & Scan (The USB version) and add the Wireless entry (Bonjour).
    Hope this helps

  • Wireless printing w/Mac and PC

    Help!
I can print wirelessly over my AE using Rendezvous with no problem; however, I can't figure out how to adjust my system to allow a PC using Windows XP to wirelessly print over the same local network.
I did check the "Printer Sharing" in my Sharing Folder preferences... but to no avail. The PC setup wizard just does not "see" my HP Desktop 5100 during its search for printers.

  • Wireless Printing: for Mac and PC

I am running a home wireless network. The AEBS --> Linksys router --> Modem. In addition, there is an HP LaserJet 2100M attached to the router. So the problem is I need to be able to connect my Macs and my wife's PC to the printer. I have no problem with the Macs - they are running through AppleTalk. Using Printer Setup Utility the location shows up as "Local zone". I think the problem may be that the PC doesn't recognize "AppleTalk".
So the question is how can I get the Macs and PCs to both connect to the printer?
I have tried using HP LaserJet Utility (OS9 vers) to change the settings on the printer. When I try to assign a manual TCP/IP address to the printer it states that "valid IP addresses must be entered for manual configuration" (even though the address should be valid: 192.168.150.101 on my network). therefore, I have to use the "Automatically obtain TCP/IP config from the DHCP server". I have also downloaded the HP LaserJet Utility for OSX. This doesn't seem to do much, and doesn't include the same options as the OS9 version - as far as I can tell it just uses the Apple "printer setup utility".
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Thanks
    Rob

The PC does not have to use Appletalk to communicate with the printer. If Appletalk works with the printer, let the Macs use it. After all, if you never changed anything on the printer, but just used it out of the box, there is no reason why you need to change anything for the PC.
You should just set up the PC printing on the network as if the Macs were not there, using whatever protocol the printer and PC want. You are probably just having a problem configuring the printer interface on the PC. Be sure that you are trying to communicate with it through your network interface, not through the printer port, although that should work, too, if your PC is connected that way.

  • Can't connect to wireless printer from Mac

I have 2 wireless printers.  My Macs can connect to one, but can not find the other.  My PCs can connect to both just find.
The printer I can't connect to is a Lexmark 4650.  I'm running the install CD, but when it tries to find the printer, it doesn't find it,
so I can not complete the setup.

If you have the printers IP address open Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.

  • Wireless printing and Mac OS 10.6.8

I have recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.8 (Software Update) and it appears to have removed my wireless connection to my HP Printer All in One C8180.  Computer instructions do not feed into the printer. It was fine before the upgrade. I have a Mac OS X (10.6.8), Mac 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Can anyone suggest what to do?

Unless you've tried this already, before you roll back to 10.6.7 it may be worth re-installing the 10.6.8 update using the combo updater: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
The combo has all the updates since 10.6. Sometimes on this forum people report issues after doing the latest point update to the OS. Using the combo often, though not always, fixes things.
It's worth repairing disk permissions before and after updating.

  • Wireless Printing from MAC OS10.4 to Lexmark Z600 Series

Does anyone know how to connect my mac wirelessly to my printer? I have a Verizon modem/router and connect to the internet wirelessly through that.
    Thanks.

Connect the printer to the router with a cable. Turn it on. Your Mac will see it. The drivers should already be on your machine.
You can also attach the printer to another computer. Share it by turning on printer sharing in the sharing preference. Your mac will see it as long as the other computer is connected to the net, even if that computer is also connected wirelessly.

  • HP Photosmart D110a wireless printer keeps going offfline, unable to print

No changes were made to the system.  The printer was working a couple a days ago and now it is not printing at all.  The wireless network test report is ok.  The network diagnostic utility is ok.

I have this under warranty and every time I call the answer is to reinstall the software. What a bunch of you know what.
So everytime I use the printer in a different day, reinstall the software - basically pull an Office Space and smash this printer to save your self work and go buy a Canon

I cannot add MacBook Air (in same room) to the Network.
    Please help.

    Hi Dagnabit47,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue adding a wireless printer on your MacBook Air. The article linked below will walk you through the process of adding the printer and ensure the MacBook Air setup correctly.
OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14143
    Add a Wi-Fi printer
Follow the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to your Wi-Fi network and turn it on. Use the instructions to unpack the printer, install ink or toner, and add paper. For more information, see this article:
Apple Support article: Connecting a Wi-Fi printer to your Wi-Fi network
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure OS X has the latest information about printer software it can download from Apple. If Software Update doesn’t list an update for your printer, you have the latest software.
Open a document to print, then choose File > Print.
Open the Printer pop-up menu and choose your printer in the Nearby Printers section of the menu. If you don’t see your printer, choose Add Printer from the Printer pop-up menu.
A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear.
If you’re asked for an administrator name and password
Select your printer when it appears in the list, and then click Add. OS X automatically uses AirPrint if your printer supports it, or it selects printer software (also called a printer driver) and downloads it from Apple if necessary.
    I hope this helps.
