Adding dates to Photo captions

Anyone know if it is possible to automatically include the capture date with the file name in the caption for Photos? (I'm using iPhoto)

You could try this.
In iPhoto, highlight a photo (test this first!) then go to > Photos > Batch Change...
Set "Title" to "Date/Time"
Then go to File > Export..
Set in Filename tab, Name, "Use Title"
Then export the test picture, either using the export option above, or clicking on the iWeb icon and see what happens.

Because of search engines and validation I would really like to use the STATIC "HTML Data Set Photo Gallery" http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/gallery_pe/static/china.html.
But I definitely need captions for the Photos. I found possibilities to add them via XML, but not for the HTML-Version.
As far as I got I think I have to edit this function from "gallery_hds.js" and add some RegEx, to extract caption text.

This text must be extracted via RegEx - similar to the rows within the if-Statement of the upper mentioned function "PhotosFilter". But here my RegEx-knowledge is definitely to short!

Including a date in a photo caption and being able to use the search function for the date

I have included both a text and a date as part of the photo caption on each of my photos. When I have attempted to search for a specific date or year, however, nothing comes up. For example, if I search for my photo on "Fido 1985", I can find Fido, but if I simply enter "1985", I get nothing.

Use Find >> By Caption Name or Note menu option for such a search.

Lightroom 5.0 on Windows 7 - Photo Caption problem in Book Module

Using Lightroom 5.0 on Windows 7, I have produced a 76 page book in the Book Module with multiple photos on most pages, but two photos were not showing their captions, and did not print same in a proof PDF print run. I had the photo captions in the Meta Data, but have subsequently entered the pertinent photo caption via Custom Text from the left control panel, and also directly into the photo caption print box without success. I have changed the photo size, without a successful outcome, but when I did an auto cell fill of the photo the caption appeared within the photo, but disappeared when sizing was reduced back. I have exhausted all help avenues at this stage.

Photo Captions in Calendar

I am making a calendar and adding photos to the date squares with a caption for each photo (i.e. - Johnny's Birthday). All of a sudden in the month of March the font for captions has changed from Gilsans 8 Light to Helvetica 12 Bold - and I can't find a way to reverse it. I have gone to the Design section for the date where the photo is and there's no option for captions. i have also gone to the date where the caption appears, and I can't change it there, either. Any thoughts?

With the Setting pane showing select the text in one of the date boxes. Then reset the font in the Setting pane at right and click on the Change Everywhere button. That will change ALL of the date boxes in the calendar,

That's correct - Photos supports geotagging, but only allows viewing of that information. Once an image is in Photos, geotags cannot be added, deleted, or edited. This post suggests some apps for editing geotags outside of the Photos app. As you mentioned, you can edit the geotags in iPhoto, export to the finder and then import to Photos. I would guess (and hope!) we'll see this added in an update, and hopefully soon!

IWeb photo captions published via ftp?

I'm new to iWeb - are photo captions published via ftp now that MobileMe is defunct? The info in Publish Site says no. As I wish to use photos purchased and downloaded from a stock agency, they must be captioned with the photographer's name. I can work around this by acknowledging the photographers in a list above the Album I've created rather than under each photo (if this proves to be acceptable to the stock agency), but this isn't ideal. Thanks for any advise you can offer.

Captions added to the images inside a photos template are published no matter where you publish your website.
The number of caption lines is chosen in the photo Grid popup window...

IWeb Photo Captioning from Aperture Metadata

I'm not sure if this should be under iWeb or Aperture. I use Aperture 2.1 and iWeb '08 2.0.3. In iWeb I have albums of photos from Aperture. When using the media browser for adding Aperture photos into iWeb, the standard nomenclature is for the iWeb caption to use the Aperture 'Version Name'. Since iWeb can be set to have more than one caption line, I was wondering if there was a way to map Aperture metadata into the multiple lines of iWeb photo captions? As it is, any additional iWeb caption lines have to be added manually. Can this additional caption information be added automatically?

I'm banging my head on this too.. I prefer to use iWeb for several reasons: one is that I publish to a non-Apple webhost; and I prefer the editing capabilities of iWeb vs Aperture/iPhoto -- plus the templates are more varied.
It's hard to believe that Apple doesn't provide this extremely basic capability. I've noticed other threads on this & it doesn't seem that it's possible.

Adding Hyperlinks to photos in iWeb

Using a photo template in iWeb, I am having trouble adding hyperlinks to photos as well as to the 'captions' beneath the photos... is adding hyperlinks simply not possible in a photo template or available only on selected templates?

Globally changing selected parts of photo captions

Is there a way to make batch changes to parts of photo captions? Something like "find and change" in word processing software.
For instance, I accidentally had the time setting wrong on my camera so that AM was PM and vice versa. I would like to change the AM to PM without affecting the actual time associated with images. This will be very tedious if I have to do it manually...

Oh, so you have been appending the batch change entries -that explains it.
The "Title" field can be batch changed like any other field, only you have to find and to select a suitable Metadata Preset that contains the "Title" field.
I have changed my presets so often, that I am no longer sure, if one of the standard presets contains this field, but you can easily define your own preset, containing all fields you want to edit.
In the Metadata tab of the Inspector Panel set the "Metadata View" selector to "Edit",
In the "Metadata Views" panel click the cogwheel to add a new view and name it,
From the right column of the panel add the "Title" tag to the new View (this tag is located in the IPTC -> Status section of the Metadata Fields.
Then use this new preset in the "Batch Change" dialogue.

Is photo caption automatic in iPhoto 5?

I've created a book using the "Watercolour" theme in iPhoto 5. I don't see any way to change the file names of pictures. Since the file names aren't visible when building the book, am I to assume that my book will not have captions for each picture?

I'm not sure what you're referring to. In the Watercolor theme there's only one page that includes a text box and that's the one photo per page. You must add text to those boxes after the book has been created. There are no title or file name text boxes in that theme.
If you check other themes you'll see that some will automatically include any comments that you've added to the photo in the main library. But not all themes have that capability. The Classic, Portfolio and Year Book do.

Adding data to a specific row in excel

Hi there,
I have problems with my data collection from serial read block. I get every time 16 bytes when I write certain command to my serial device. But after a continuous data written to excel, that is let say six rows of data and after that I get one byte of data which I do not want to save in current updating excel sheet.
For that now, I have taken a case structure with two cases, one case contains nothing when I read the one byte and another case contains the code(Spreadsheet file VI) for adding data to excel when 16 bytes received one by one. Still, I am not getting what I wish for. The one byte case adding zero to the current excel file at row 6 and then continuous with 16bytes of data in remaining rows and again after 6 continuous rows it adds zero and so on. I don't know why it is adding zero even i did not put any code inside the case of it.
How could I eliminate this adding of zeros?

You misunderstood my point. I have no code inside the adding zero case. It adding by no meaning. I have only written in one case to add continuous data to excel when ever I receive more than one byte. If I receive one byte exactly, I would not like to append this to excel but currently my program is doing that.
I have added my code snippet which is not the current working code. I am out of access to my current code. But instead I have attached similar one. You merely assume that the data is coming form serial read block.

Adding data labels to column graph

I work in the financial industry and I have to add data labels to all bars that appear in my ten year performance graphs (see http://fundinvestor.calamos.com/ClosedEndFunds/CEFund.aspx?name=CHI under the "Performance" tab as an example). Is there a script that can do this? What am I doing wrong? Adding data labels to bars is ridiculously simple in Excel, why can't I find the way to do it easily in Illustrator?

You really don't enter identical data into 2 tables. You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).

Think about it this way... What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change. WHOOPS!! Now, you've got a BIG problem. For instance, you have a customer
named Bill Gates. In one Table you update Bill's address to 1835 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039 and in the other table you accidentally update Bill's address to 183 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039. Now you have 2 addresses for Bill. Why would
you want that??? Which is right? No one knows. If you have one address, you just have to update one address and if there is a mistake, you just have to update one address, but you don't have to waste time trying to figure out which is right
and which is wong...and then update the one that is wrong.
Post back with specific questions.
Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.
