Adding Day, Month, Date,Year, Time to Menu BAR

My Menu bar now shows "Thu 9:14 PM". I want to change it to Day, Month, Year, and Time. I presume this is done by Apple>System Preferences>Language & Text>Formats>Customize, but I can't get any further, and the words "Type text and drag element to create a custm format" doesn't help. Type where? Drag from where? Drag to where?

Drag an element from the list below into eg the Short box and add text eg : instead of /. But I don't think this will give you what you want - go instead to Date & Time Preferences/Clock, and select Show the Date. But it won't give you the year.

  • Date and time in menu bar

    Hi everyone,
I'm having a very silly problem that is driving me crazy. I found similar problems on this forum but not exactly the answer to them.
The "Show date and time in menu bar" checkbox System Preferences will not remain checked. I have checked it 50 times but every time I close it and go back it's unchecked.
Based on some suggestions on the forum I check the SystemUIServer in Activity Monitor and it's hanging (i.e. Not Responding). I tried force quitting and restarting but it doesn't get it going. Somehow I think these two problems are related.
I also tried deleting the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file under ~/Library/Preferences and logging out and back in to go back to system defaults on the menu bar but that didn't work either.
Alot of people solved similar problems by installing OS X 10.5.2 but I'm already running 10.5.2! I'm running out of ideas here.
    Any help is appreciated.

Excuse me, my interface is in Dutch and I literally translated the name.
Desktop and Screen saver I believe, select the menu for the screen saver.
There is a box you can tick, it will display the time when the screen saver is running.
It could be displayed like 3553 instead of the correct time.
If that is the case check in another user account, or make a new user account in Apple menu>System preferences>Accounts. Does the problem occur in the new account as well?

  • Date and Time on Menu Bar

Up until now the date and time has been displayed on the menu bar as...
    Tuesday, November 28, 2006 8:09 AM
Now, for some reason, it's being displayed as...
    Tue 8:09 AM
Here's what I've tried in trying to restore the format...
    1) System Preferences > Menu Bar Clock > Show Date and Time in Menu Bar
    2) Deleted the following preference files:
    com.apple.MenuBarClock.plist
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Does anyone know how I can restore the format?
    Thanks!
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.2.x)   128 MB, 700 MHz PowerPC G4

It looks like there can be as little
as 6 or so characters between the two sets of
    icons
    That sounds low, especially in
the Finder, even at the lower screen resolutions. I
just played with stepping down resolutions on this
Mac, and various right-side icons (the CoreServices
eject.menu, Display, Classic, and sound icons, plus
    those from MenuMeters) disappeared
before the date and time (shown as "Tue 28 Nov, 04:00
PM" were affected (right-side menu items are
    truncated from left to right).
In my case, just the date disappeared. So instead of seeing...
    Tue November 28, 2006 5:43 PM
    ...I was seeing...
    Tue 5:43 PM
The icons to the left (on the right side icons) were still there and unaffected.
    What Display
    resolution do you normally use?
    It's set at 1024 X 768.
    Does the time&date
format go back to the expected form if you increase
resolution to maximum as a test? If the format
affected by starting up in Safe Mode?
After trying the remedy you reference in your previous post, the format is back to where it was so I won't be able to test it. But I guess you suspect that the Date and Time was truncated because there wasn't enough space between the left side and right side icons, is this right? It would seem like a logical explanation...

  • Show date and time in menu bar won't stay selected

Using 10.6.7 with all updates as of the time I am writing this.
Show date and time in menu bar is unselected and unselectable. When I select it (click it) it will unselect itself. I will see the checkmark for 1/2 a second, but won't stay selected.
I've reparied permissions in the Disk Utility as described by a similar post (on an older version of the OS) with no luck.
At a little bit of a loss. Spending the mandatory 30 minutes with various forms of Google searches with no luck.

  • Day, date and time in menu bar

    Hello:
New MacBook and new to Apple computers. I can get day of week and time of day to display, but would also like to have the date displayed. I've followed the directions, but date won't display. When I right click on the day/time, the entire display (Monday, February 11, 2008, for example) is displayed, but grayed-out. Does that mean that my MacBook, with Leopard, can't display day/date/time? Niggling issue, but if anyone has a solution, please respond.
    Thanks,

  • Is there a way to change the date format so that delegates have to choose a day, month and year from a drop down menu as my delegates keep forgetting to change the year of their information

When my delegates are filling in a event form i have put together, a large number of them forget to change either the month or year on the date field. Is there a way to have a date field that has drop down boxes for day, month and year so they have to choose rather than a date been already on the screen??
    Thanks

    Hi Christopher,
The WEEKDAY function allows specifying either Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week:
    WEEKDAY
The WEEKDAY function returns a number that is the day of the week for a given date. WEEKDAY(date, first-day)
date:  The date the function should use. date is a date/time value. The time portion is ignored by this function.
first-day: An optional value that specifies how days are numbered.
Sunday is 1 (1 or omitted):  Sunday is the first day (day 1) of the week and Saturday is day 7.
Monday is 1 (2):  Monday is the first day (day 1) of the week and Sunday is day 7. Monday is 0 (3):  Monday is the first day (day 0) of the week and Sunday is day 6.
But I think you are referring to the first day of the 'workweek', for which I do not see a means of defining a custom value.
Since you want to 'insert categories', though, you could easily define your own, using WEEKDAY(date) or WEEKDAY(date,1), plus an IF statement to return the category label appropriate to the day. Here's one for a Sunday to Thursday work week. Dates are in column A, the formula is in whichever column you want as the Category column. For the example, I've placed it in column B.
    B2, and filled down: =IF(WEEKDAY(A)<6,"Work","Off")
The top table shows the weekday numbers returned for each day of the week for each of the three permitted values for the optional second argument. The bottom table shows the results from the formula above, used to define a category label for each date:
A10 was left blank intentionally, to determine if the lack of data resulted in an error. The Warning message, flagged by the blue 'warning' triangle, is "The formula uses a number in place of a date." The 'date' assigned to this numerical value of zero was a Friday, but I'm not certain when. Probably best to avoid extra rows with no date shown.

    Barry

  • I want to accumulate rain for the day, month and year; What formula can I use?

I want to accumulate rain for the day, month and year; What formula or expression can I use.
I am using a Rain Wise product that converts pulses to an analog value.  The Rain Wise device can be
set to measure up to 1", 5", or 10".  I will be setting the unit to 10 inches in increments of 0.01 inches.
What I would like to do is everytime the signal increments I would like to count it as 0.01 then after reaching
a period of time whether it be a day or a month reset back to zero.
Need some advise on this problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Ryan,
Lookout gets a Modbus over Ethernet signal which originates as a 4-20mA input to a Moxa Ethernet I/O Module (E1240) in the field.  In Lookout I created a ModbusEthernet Driver and a tag which scales 0 - 65534 RAW to 0-10 Eng.  [0 - 10 is inches of rain]  Also, another piece of information is that after the rain gauge maxes out at 10 inches it will zero out and start over.
I though the accumulator was time based and took a sample over a specific time period, for instance, one sample every 30 seconds then accumulate.  If this is so then if I have 5 inches of rain and then it stopped raining, then 30 seconds latter it would sample, it would see 5 inches and add that to be 10 inches when actually it had only rained 5 inches.
I really need some help with this process,

  • Why can't I set month, date and time on my imessage?

Why can't I set month, date and time on my imessage?

The way the date/time was displayed was changed in iOS7. There had been numerous complaints about not having a date/time stamp on all posts, so it was changed to display the time for all by sliding the post to the left. They left the date stamp to show differently. I couldn't tell you what it does for posts more than a week old, as I never save my messages that long.
Meg's post provides for software where you could move the SMS to the computer and it should contain a full date/time stamp on it.

  • Get day month and year of a date

Hi all i need to get the week day of a date, the week, the month, the year of a generic date.

Actually SimpleDateFormat is probably better. Calendar's months are opaque constants.

  • New library did not give me folders divided by day, month and year.  My previous one did.  How do I make this happen?

    Hi All
Just changed external hard drives and am setting up a new library to pull all the new locations together.  How do I get the library to be subdivided by day, month, year?  It came up just ordered by date but not subdivided.  Seemed simpe but I have been at it for hours with no success.
    Thanks,
    Henry from Vermont

Thanks so much for the quick response.
    History:
    started in LR4 in PC
Moved to Mac and OSX with LR5 (Mac Pro Book retina with solid state drive
    so fast)
I had my PC original photos on an external PC drive that was filling up and
only could be red by mac but not written.
Just bought a 1tb drive and formated it for Mac
Moved through finder all photos and LR catalogs from PC 640gig drive to new
mac formated 1tb and then imported them which did not take a long time and
did not bring originals into the mac.  This was a new catalogue.  I still
have the old one and the files on the PC external drive.
LR finds and displays these originals (a mix of raw and jpegs with a few
tifs.  A 14 year collection, perhaps 18,000 images) but the list is not
subdivided in any way, just one large group of photos in date taken
sequence.  The old catalogue was subdivided by day, month, year.  I may
have created duplicates but have not checked.  I had a backup copy of some
    lost photos which imported.
My goal is to have all photos broken out by date.  I must retain edited
results and would like to maintain meta data.
Is this enough info?  What else would you like?
    Thanks,
    Henry

  • Date & Time in menu bar problem

    Hi
OK, I cannot get my digital clock icon to display in the menu bar on top of desktop. I had it in the past but when I go to 'date & time' in system preferences, select box to click on it, and it will deselect itself somehow. End result, no digital clock in my menu bar.
    Any suggestions please???
    Thanks,
    Maree

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/ as the folder's location; when this folder appears, double-click the item Clock or Clock.menu inside and see if it appears in the menu bar.
If the clock appears, enter ~/Library/Preferences into the Go to Folder prompt and move the file com.apple.systemuiserver.plist in that folder to the desktop. Try adding the clock again.
If the clock does not appear or the item doesn't exist, use Pacifist to extract Clock.menu from your Mac OS X installation disks and then run the combo updater for your version of Mac OS X.

    Say, you have two items

b_day.txt_inc - the number which should b added.
b_day.txt_result - to store the result.
    in WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM of b_day.txt_inc, write
    begin
    b_day.txt_result := to_date(b_day.txt_refdate + b_day.txt_inc,'dd-mon-rrrr');

  • Adding fields with data type "TIMS" to the BP transaction

    hi all,
This  is Anil regarding the addition of fields to the BP transaction.
here my problem is for BP transaction I could not find any BADI or screen exit  to add the fields. Even EEWB tool does not allow us to cretate the fields with data type "TIMS". so could you please suggest any other way to add these fields to BP?
when I enter the values to the time fields in BP transaction, they must reflect in
    BUT000 table also?
    Regards,
    Anil .

In the physical layer, Column Properties change the data type to int.
If still problem exists, In the Business Model, write a case statement like
case when column1=1 then 1 end
and apply count aggregation on the new calculated column, add the column to presentation table, use that new calculated column for report.

  • No more date in the Apple menu bar with OSX 10.5.6

What is for me a glaring omission from both windows and Mac is the option to show the current date. The trick described at http://cybernetnews.com/2008/05/22/cybernotes-add-the-date-to-mac-menubar-clock/ however worked perfect. Until now... Unfortunately, it looks like with OSX 10.5.6 this no longer works. The behaviour when you have the date components in the time configured is odd: at first the top-right system menus seems to behave normal, eg when you click the airport option. But when you move the mouse down to select a menu item, the menu closes quickly on you and leaves the air tunes menu marked blue. Similar things happen with Time Machine and other system menus; rendering the top-right menu practically useless. Switching back (via Preferences to -in my case- Dutch system setting) will remove the date from the clock and restore the menu to normal behaviour.
Does anybody know a nice little date utility for in the menu bar that works with 10.5.6 ? Thanks !

I have no issues using the trick described in that method. Something is likely wrong with your system. It's also possible that the issue is specific to the Dutch localization.
either way, try resetting your time display preferences
    enter the following terminal command
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
then log out/in. Your time display will be reset to the default. change it again using the method in that link.
