Adding digital copies to apple tv

How do you add Digital copies of movies to your Apple TV?

You do not.
Digital copies are added to the iTunes library on the computer and access from the ATV via Home Sharing.

  • How do I move DVD digital copies from my iphone to a new computer's itunes account, same Apple ID?

I just got a MacBook Pro and I also have an iphone. My current main itunes is on a PC that I will not use any longer. I have several movies on my iphone which came with DVD's as digital copies, not purchased through itunes store.
In the past, I've lost these kinds of movie digital copies through syncing my phone on a new computer. I don't want this to happen again but I am totally lost since these are not itunes purchases.
How can I sync my iphone on my new mac's itunes and not "erase and replace" all the movies currently on my phone? Or how can I get them onto my Mac's itunes account so when I do sync my iphone, they'll still be there?
    Thanks!

It's best to copy from your old computer to your new computer before syncing your phone with your new computer for the first time:
    http://osxdaily.com/2010/03/21/copy-itunes-library-from-a-pc-to-a-mac/
If everything were from the iTunes Store, you could do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1329
Since it's not all from the iTunes Store, you should copy your library from your old computer to your new one, as noted above. If that's not possible and you can use only your phone as the file source, you will need to use a third-party utility such as Senuti:
    http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
There are many similar utilities. Some work just as well as Senuti and are even free.

  • When will Apple Support Ultraviolet Digital Copies?

This is something of a cross post for iPad & iPhone, but I won't be cross posting it as they can be a bit annoying.
I'm a huge fan of digital copies, wasn't once, but now am.  Having digital copies is something that does factor into me deciding when to buy a film on Blu-Ray and when to wait.
The new thing that is being pushed now is Ultraviolet, a quasi-cloud type service, for digital copies.  However it can only be used by a select few devices; Mac (and even Windows) don't support it.  Personally I prefer the standard digital copy, I maintain my library, back it up when I make new purchases and save my recipets in case anything happens.  And of course a big reason I prefer it is because I won't be hopping between two services for them.
My question is when will Apple support Ultraviolet Digital Copies?  Or will there be an alternative where the Blu-Ray will include a code for a traditional digital copy that if used will void the UV copy and vice-versa?
I would personally prefer an alternative as I'd hate managing two accounts to handle my digital copies.

  • Will digital copies from blu-rays stream on apple tv in full hd?

Will my iTunes digital copies from blu-rays stream on the new apple tv in full hd? I have some right now on my apple tv 2 that stream from the cloud but do not appear to be in 720p. Can someone help me clarify?

It probably depends on the specific digital copy, but all of the ones I've ever gotten have been SD, not HD, I would guess that the movie studio expects you to play the Blu-Ray disk if you want HD and so provides SD for portable devices.
    Regards.

  • Unable to play legal digital copies of movies on Apple TV

I have two DVDs that came with digital copies and although they're downloaded and sat happily in itunes, I'm unable to play them on my Apple TV. It says that I am not authorised to view them and must use the ID and password that I used to buy them. They work fine on iphone, ipad and in itunes - it's just Apple TV. I have other movies on itunes that are viewable, it's just these digital copies that I am unable to play

I do - but I registered the movies with my main one - which is also the one that Apple TV uses.

  • Digital copies won't play on Apple TV

When I try to play digital copies of DVD's with an itunes voucher code they will play on the computer. However when I try to play them on Apple it says authorisation of computer is needed within itunes even though the computer is authorised for Apple TV. Can anyone tell me why. If I play the movie in itunes on the computer I can then stream to the Apple TV but it will not let me play it the other way around.

I’ve been having the same issue’s [AirPlay / HomeSharing not working or working intermittently] after some digging and testing I found that this worked…please note I made the change 1 hour ago and things are still working.
    Steps to Fix:
    Login to the Router
    Select Wireless settings
Change the “Wireless Mode” change it to 11G only. [Default is mixed mode]
Power off your computer[s], Apple TV and all other connecteddevices [wireless/wired].
Unplug the power on your router and wait 20 seconds…then plug it back in.
Once the router is full started up [5 min]…now turn on all your connected devices such as computer[s], Apple TV and all other connected devices[wireless/wired]
You should now be able to access Airplay as well as HomeSharing.

  • Missing Purchases/Digital Copies - HELP

    Hi,
I recently noticed that I was missing about 20 or so out of over a hundred digital copies in my itunes account. These are a mix of Itunes store purchases and movies added via digital copy from a blu ray purchase. I regularly stream these on my Apple TV and use to redownload to my ipad and iphone. I contacted support and they basically told me that i wasnt entitled to them and should have them backed up. Some of these movies were newer and some have been in there since apple started adding movies to the cloud.  Wasnt the purpose of apple added these all to the cloud was for the purpose of streaming and redownloading content you already own? Has anyone had this issue? Suggestions?

    Hi MBlevins
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If you are having issues with getting content to the iPod Touch, I would check the resolution for the movies. High Definition movies are only compatible with iPod Touch 4th Generation and later.

There is another way you can get those movies to the iPod Touch as well. You can download directly from the iPod Touch.

  • Can I play digital copies of movies on my iPod classic?

I recently downloaded my digital copy of a movie that came with my DVD-blu ray combo pack. The movie shows up in my library, but when I try to transfer it to my new iPod classic, it says it can't transfer it becasue it can't play on this iPod. Does this mean that all digital copies can't play on this iPod? Help!

  • I need to deauthorize all of my computers, will it affect what i already bought with itunes, digital copies, etc?

I need to deauthorize all of my computers, will it affect what i already bought with itunes, digital copies, etc and once i authorize it again, will I be able to watch everything i had on the same computer with my digital copies and everything else?

No it doesn't affect your files.
    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

    Easy, Buy this:

These drives are pretty tough. On airline flights I see people fumbling with them all the time to watch DVDs. They hold up well.

  • Trouble with digital copies

Hello all, I'm having problems transferring a digital copy of a film to my iPod from iTunes. I get this message:
The iPod is currently linked to another iTunes library. In order to copy the movie to this iPod, you must link this iPod with this iTunes library.
Doing so will remove the other digital copies from my Nano. I recently replaced a dead computer and I was unable to recover most of my files from the dead hard drive, so my digital copies reside solely on my iPod. I was, however, able to resync my music library with recovered data and I can add music from my current library (plus new music purchases) to my Nano to my heart's content. Why is this stupid digital copy giving me such headaches? DRM? Am I screwed?
    Before anyone asks:
    - The Nano is set to "manually manage music and videos" already. It didn't help.
    - I can add other videos to my iPod (from iTunes Store and other sources) with no issue.
Is there any workaround for this other than pulling the other DC's off my iPod and re-adding them later? Thanks in advance!

    DRM? Am I screwed?
It's possible. Do an internet search for a possible workaround.

How do I get digital copies from my computer to show up on my AppleTV without having my computer on?  Is there a way to get them to appear under purchased?

Actually, if you mean Apple/iTunes purchased content, you can go to the content area and go to Purchased... e.g. if you go to Movies > Purchased all the movies you have purchased through iTunes/Apple will appear there... ditto for Music, TV Shows, Music...
for local copies of media, computer needs to be on with iTunes running...

  • Syncing Digital Copies to Multiple iPhones

I have some movie digital copies in my iTunes that I sync with my iPhone. I'd like to load some of them on my wife's iPhone who syncs as a different profile and iTunes instance.
Is there any way to be able to get her iPhone to load a movie without actually making a separate copy of it in both iTunes folders?

Applications can only be synced from one iTunes library. If you are connected your iPhone or iPod >touch to an iTunes library that you don't normally sync with, you can still transfer purchased >applications from the device by choosing File > Transfer Purchases in iTunes.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1977 (Syncing Applications from the App Store)
So you can have multiple Phones synced to your computer/library, all those can have the same apps, but you can't transfer the apps to another computer using a different account in itunes and start using those apps on different devices.
