Adding 'discription' space when viewing photo's in my 'Gallery'

I've posted several albums in my 'Gallery'. Until today I hadn't really worried about the description of any photo in any album. Today I added a descriptions to all the photos in one album.
Now when I go to my "Gallery" on the web and bring a photo up, then click on the 'I'...what I see in my description box is about half of what I wrote. Unlike the the text entered in the 'description box' before I published the album I'm unable to scroll when I view it on the web so about half (more or less) of what I wrote is worthless. Is there any way to enlarge the viewing box in my web "Gallery" so the complete description shows?... or be able to scroll after getting to that site?

HEY--
You're not alone. The same thing is happening to me. This is what happened: First, my computer had too many photos on iPhoto, and I couldn't download anymore, (I have a G5 and lots of memory too but it didn't matter since I have tons of pictures)and my computer would say my start-up disk was full. I tried to delete some images to no avail. So I decided to buy another hard drive. I wanted to use that one for my photo library rather than the first hard drive, so I had enough room to work with.
I still couldn't download photos to it, since iPhoto was still on my first hard drive. So, I tried moving iPhoto to my second hard drive by dragging it and placing it there. It asked where my library was, so I directed it to the location I thought it was in my Pictures folder.
This is when things started getting mixed up. It no longer was backing up my iPhoto library to my Pictures folder. Whenever it would ask me to update my thumbnail cache, it started substituing dashed lines instead of my photos in its place. Little by little, this was happening. I could still download new photos into my iPhoto Library, but some photos from the past were getting corrupted and I couldn't salvage them or see them in any way, other than the dashed lines.
Recently, I have had two weddings to edit, and I cannot see the photos for the reception of one of them after I updated the thumbnail cache again. I thought it would bring my photos back, but rahter it made them so I can't see them!
I have read the other posts about this same issue, and I am about to just take my computer into MacDocs, but rather I'd like assistance here if possible since I need this taken care of, and I pay $100 every year for MacPro, and noone was available there to help me!!!
Please... any help would be appreciated. I too nervous to move anything else, and I would like some REAL help to this issue.
Thank you in advance!

  • X2-00 spontaneous switch off when viewing photos

My daughter uses a X2-00 since about half a year. From time to time when viewing photos she made with the phone, the phone spontaneously switches off and restarts. Restart is without problem, but should not occur at all. An update to the latest software version did not resolve the issue. It's still the same photos that cause a restart.
Any ideas what might cause this issue?

Remove the battery for a couple of minutes..Insert and see if the phone switches ON..
If not, Confirm that the battery is charged.. Leave on charging for 10-15 minutes and then try switching ON while charger is connected..

My Finder is freezing when I am viewing photos in the column view.  It works fine in list, cover flow, and thumbnail.  Any ideas as to why the column view quicklook might be causing it to freeze?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the easy fix first: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.

  • Small issue when viewing photos

Hi, I only got my Xperia Z2 today and I've noticed something going on when i view photos that wasn't happening earlier. When I take a photo with the camera in the camera app it's fine and looks good, but then when I go to view it by pressing the little thumbnail in the camera app the photo is always displayed in landscape and for some reason seems to dim and darken considerably after a second or two. This only happens when i view the photo in the camera app, if I exit the app and go to the photos app it works fine.  Anyone know why this happens and how to change it? Is it some sort of power saving thing because I'm at around 1/3 battery? Any help is appreciated

  • Iphoto 11 spinning balls when viewing photos

Hi - We're pretty frustrated so seeking help here as iPhoto support via Apple Care has not offered a solution to our issue. We have late 2012 iMac 8mb RAM with 3.2 (or 3.4) processor.
    We have 3 Nikon cameras; D80, D300S, D800.
    The D800 is the newest.
Uploading from cameras into iPhoto works perfectly.
However, when viewing a particular Album that contains photos from all 3 cameras, we get spinning ball and have to wait for up to 30 seconds to go from one photo to another
The spinning ball is random BUT doesn't happen on D80 or D300S photos. Only happens on D800 photos, which makes us wonder if there is a bug in iPhoto. The D800 is supported in iPhoto.
More info: The size of the photo doesn't seem to matter, as this can happen when one is going from a large MB photo to a small one, and visa versa. It doesn't hang on particular photos, but seems to be random.
The D800 is a 35 megapixel camera if that info helps at all. The other cameras are much lower megapixels.
I don't know enough about computers to solve this myself, but iphoto support has not found the problem. I think it's a lot simplier than we think but don't know what to do next.
Apple Care iPhone support had us repair the library and even make a new iPhoto library but we got the same issue.
The album with the issue contains 173 photos, so of which are HDR. It is not getting stuck on HDR photos, but sometimes it can. Like I said, it's random.
When we put that same album into Elements12, there was no issue of spinning balls, so I also wonder if it's the size of the entire library that has something to do with this issue. (the iPhono Library contains 5,000 photos. Support confirmed that there is plenty of free memory so that is not the issue either, but we are going to have the 8mb upgraded to 16MB anyway but we don't believe this will solve anything at this point.
We really wanted to buy Aperture but wonder if we need to resolve this issue in iPhoto first....Thank you  & I hope I provided enough info. I tried...-Lynn

Yes, occurs in both RAW & JPEG
Here's what we learned today: when we call up the Album in question (but does happen in other albums but trying to stick with just one for now) it is now confirmed that it's only happening with D800 photos, but doesn't matter the size of photo or whether Jpeg or Raw. Can be either/or.
BUT, once we go thru the entire album of 174 photos, the time lag is gone the second time we view the photos. (no spinning balls & can scroll rapidly thru entire album) Wouldn't this suggest not a camera issue?
If we close out of iPhoto and go back into iPhoto and to that same album, we get the spinning ball delay between some of the D800 photos as before, but also confirm that it doesn't hang up on same photos each time but hangs only on D800 photos.
One more thing that may mean nothing - The abum has 174 photos. The first 100 or so photos were shot with the D80, the next group are D300s, and the last bunch (from photo #145 to 174) are D800, so the hanging doesn't begin until #145, but might not hang until photo 150. It's random, and different each time the album is opened AFTER iPhoto is closed & re-opened. As long as the album remains opened we can even go to other albums & go back to that album & all is still fine. It's just the intial opening of iPhoto each time.
This particular album IS a "rated" album so it has that cog wheel on the album file. Because it contains all photos that my husband rated as "3-star photos", I thought maybe the "smartness" could be the issue, but he has other albums with D800 photos that aren't rated & those photos can also hang...
Hubby has gone out to shoot post-blizzard photos & we'll do as you suggested upon his return & make new iPhoto library! Thanks! Will report back!

  • N96 - poor quality when viewing photos

when taking a photo with the n96 the image quality is great when viewing it just after taking the photo, but then when i view the images through the 'photos' application the quality is terrible, really pixelated and looks as though it hasnt loaded properly or something? i find i can sort this out by going into edit, saving the photo again, then when i view it the quality is back to normal.
    anybody any ideas whats wrong?

    Do you mean the preview?
You have to click on the picture to open it. What you are seeing initially is a quick preview. If you leave it there for a few seconds it will "clean" itself. Or just open the picture by pressing the center select, You will see that it's not pixelated.

  • IPod Restarts When Viewing Photos (Every 1 out of 3 times)!

When I try to view my photos (mainly doing a slide show), the IPod unit will restart. One time, the unit froze and I had to perform a manual reset. I have not seen a resolution yet in the forums. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

An Update for what it is worth, and still with no resolution. It appears that I have the auto restart issue only when I view photos and I have previously configured the slide show to turn on music using my music library on the Ipod. If I view photos and it is working ok. with the music playing in the background, and then I leave photos to go listen to my normal music library, and then I come back to viewing photos again, when I start the photo slide show at this point, this is where the Apple restart occurs. I have been able to isolate this down on both my Ipod and my wife's Ipon Nanao Special Editions. Any body else having this problem? When I turn off the background music under the photo slide show preferences, I can go on with photos all I want with no auto restart. So for now, no more back ground music in my photo slide shows.

  • Apple TV reboots when viewing photos and selecting slideshow mode

Just purchased the A-TV, so only experience is with the 2.3 OS release. I can view my synced photos without issue, but when I select slideshow mode, the screen goes black for a few minutes and then the box reboots. The diagnostics state there is not a hardware problem, but this is hopefully not a 'feature' of A-TV. Help!

There could be a/some photos causing a problem, are you able to sync your photos in batches to try to eliminate this possibility.

  • IPhoto 08 crashes when viewing photos

    Hi,
I'm using iPhoto O8. I have about 4000 photos in the library. I'm using this on an intel iMac.
All has been working fine. However, it has now decided to crash if I try to view a photo. The programme will open fine and I can see the thumbnails for the events and the thumbnails for the photos. However if I then double click a photo it crashes.
I've tried deleting the preferences file (within users>library>preferences> etc.
I've also tried rebuilding the iPhoto library (alt+apple held whilst starting iPhoto)...
However, when I tried rebuilding the library (first three options selected) the rebuild also crashes.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!
    Edward

Download iPhoto LibraryManager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use its rebuild function - this creates a new rebuild library leaving your existing library alone so if it does not fix things you still have exactly what you had before to work on

  • Is there a way for GPS coordinates to override a 'places' tag when viewing photos on the map?

I like to have 'places' tags for all of my photos in Elements Organizer so I can filter photos without the map view.  The problem is that some of my photos already have GPS information from my camera.  When I tag a photo that has EXIF geo data with a 'places' tag, it moves the photo on the map to the less specific lat/long of the tag and no longer uses the lat/long of the photo itself.  I would like to use the data EXIF data from the photo, if it exists, rather than the lat/long from the places tag.
Alternately, it would be cool if Elements would auto-create places tags based on the lat/long from a photos EXIF data.  That would also solve my conflict between places tags and EXIF data from the photo.
Any ideas?  Am I out of luck?

Why don't you just put a passcode lock on the phone so no-one else can use it when you're not around?
You can look at the history in Safari, but that won't prevent someone from clearing the history and cookies after they use it.

  • Can I 'lock' or change the orientation when viewing photos

I have uploaded lots of holiday snaps, some portrait other landscape. The landscape ones are great and use all of the screen but when I rotate the ipad2 to better vied the portrait pics - the screen rotates. Very frustrating.
    Can anyone help please.

You can lock the screen two ways.
Double tap the home button to bring up the recent apps tray. Swipe all the way to the right. See if the lock icon is on the left side . If so, tap it to lock the screen. Then tap the home button to return to the photo that you were viewing.
Or - if you have the side switch set in your settings to lock the screen - use that. The switch is above the volume control switches on the side of the iPad. Try switching that to see if the screen locks.
Read this to see how the side switch can work for you.

  • Ipod freezes when viewing photos

I got a new Ipod yesterday and when I try to view the photos after uploading them to the ipod it will freeze about half way down when I view all the photos in the photo library and the last 12 months catagory. im using a macbook and the photos are stored in Iphoto.

I deleted a couple photos in the area the ipod freezes but it still freezes. Resetting it does nothing but restarts the ipod and then it still freezes when I go back and veiw the photos in through photo library and last 12 months. I created folders to group the photos to test the ipod and see if it will freeze when I view the same photos the ipod is freezing on when I veiw them in "photo library and 12 months". And the Ipod does not freeze when I view the photos in their gruoped folders. So it can't be a corrupted file, can it?
