Adding DTS-MA soundtrack to an mpeg 4 video file

Cross-posted from Audition forum which directed me here.
As a personal project I am attempting to take some high definition videos (1080P) with low definition sound and bump the sound up to at least CD quality in Premiere via mpeg4 files.  For example Bob Dylans "Duquesne Whistle" video is 1080p but has an audio bitrate of only 254 Kbps.  I would like to take the CD version of the song (which almost always is used for the videos so synching is not usually a problem) and replace the 254 Kbps audio track with the higher bitrate CD track.  The CD hasn't arrived yet from Amazon, but I guess it should be in the 600-700 kbps range.
Similarly I want to take some Blu-Ray MTS-MA .m2ts files and extract the musical segments, such as individual songs on Glee disks which I own.
There are multiple problems which I've encountered.  Premiere Pro does not recognize the audio in a .m2ts file so I have to convert the file to a .mov in order to get both audio and video into Premiere.  But the program which I use to do the conversion down-rezes the audio to 320 Kbps so I lose the DTS-MA ~1500 Kbps.
This thread DTS Audio   mentions Tranzcode, Tranzgui and the DTS-HD MAS encoder suite.  Would these allow me to read the DTS-MA track, split it into a codec supported by Premiere, and they allow me to render back to DTS-MA?  Even better would be if they would allow Premiere to accept the audio track, and then allow the rendering of a .mp4 with DTS-MA with the selected subclip.
A subset of this would be doing the same thing for the CD audio track.  I assume DTS-MA would be overkill her, but is there a way to get greater than 320/640 kbps audio output from Premiere, i.e., the CD audio bitrate between 700 & 800?

CD bitrate is actually 1,411 kbps.
.m2ts is a fairly standard video format that many camcorders use so Premiere ought to be able to import it directly without having to transcode the files. Also I would have thought that you should be able to select a higher bitrate audio settings for your export. With .mp4 that would probably be .AAC and at 320kbps bitrate an AAC encoded file should be virtually indistinguishable from a CD version of the same audio.
But this is slightly the wrong forum because, although you are asking about audio, this Forum is for Audition users. You should probably really be asking about Premiere import/export formats in the Premiere forum.

    HI,
If iChat is Open and your think Accounts/Screen Names are logged in then go to the Window Menu
This should list the accounts that are logged in with various keystrokes ( Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) and a Number) shown next to them.
Using these should get the Buddy list "back".
It is possible to Hide the Buddy list and then Quit iChat.
iChat will then "remember" where the windows were eve if this was Hidden.
Can you confirm that after reinstalling or restoring from Time Machine with possibly an Earlier Version you have Downloaded the COMBO version of OS X 10.6.8 and "run the COMBO" (Installed it - again) to update iChat ?
It is possible the text chat Window is also Hidden on double clicking a Buddy.
The easiest way for this to happen is to use a second Display and drag some windows to the second Display.
iChat "remembers" where you last had Outgoing Chats so Audio and Video windows will be where you left them as will Text Chats.
Incoming Chat Invites are normally in set places unless there is a chat already open to that Buddy.
With  Windowing issue like this is sometimes pays to delete com.apple.ichat.plist itself  (on it's own) and restart iChat  (this plist holds the window positions amongst other things)

  • Importing a mpeg video file into itunes

I tried click and drag but that doesn't work. How would I get some mpeg video files to work in iTunes so I can transfer them to my iPod? I also tried "add file to library" that doesn't work either.

iTunes supports the following video content formats:
Video content purchased from the iTunes Store.
QuickTime and MPEG-4 movie files that end in ".mov", ".m4v", or ".mp4" and are playable in QuickTime Player.
    Video podcasts.
If your videos are MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, you will have to use a third-party application to convert the videos into a format that iTunes supports. If you search this forum for something like "video convert", you should find a number of suggestions as to a converter.

  • Mpeg video editing in iMovie

I am new to a Mac and have downloaded mpeg video files for editing in iMovie from my PC. I have bought the QT component so that I can view the video on the Mac, which I could not do before, but I cannot import into iMovie. What do I need to do to edit my movies? I am very fustrated that I cannot do this.

Get MPEG Streamclip (which is free) and convert your clips to Apple Intermediate Codec. Then use File/Import to import into iMovie.

  • Mpeg Videos mute when converted

When I import an mpeg video file into iTunes, it plays fine. However, if I "convert for iPod", to let it Sync onto my iPod, the sound is removed, both in iTunes and on the iPod. Is there any way to fix this?
This only happens to certain mpeg video files, whereas others work fine.
I have the most recent iTunes (7.4.1 I believe) and a video iPod

It sounds as if the .mpg file you've converted is MPEG-1 muxed, meaning that the audio and video are contained within the same track.
As a test, open the .mpg in QuickTime and Show Movie Properties. If it says "MPEG Layer 1 Muxed", it falls into the case above.
Try converting the .mpg using the free MPEG Streamclip application. It has an option to convert to iPod/iTunes.

  • Edited video file name now cant open in other programs

Opened a MPEG video file in HP MediaSmart video Main program and edited the file name. Now when I try to open the file it will not open in Windows Media player or my other video edit/programs.  I did not make a copy of the file or do I have a backup, it's the original.  How can I fix this?

    @Goonies_2015 ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.  What I expect you have done when doing the change to the file and saving you ended up removing the .avi or .mpg file extension.
So what you can try is to go to the file where ever it is located.  Copy the file then paste it.  Then rename the file whateveryouwant.avi or .mpg.  If this does not work then you may have edited it and saved the blank formatted file with no extension.  If that is the case I am not sure if you can recover it.
Here are some links you can check out.

Now the two links may not be exactly what you need but may have the answer when it comes to recovering video files.

  • IMovie won't let me import video files

I have been trying to import MPEG video files from a disc into iMovie and every time I try to do this the Optimizing Video box pops up and nothing happens (I then have to force iMovie to shut down). What can I do to get my video files imported into iMovie?  Thanks for the help!

    iMovie cannot handle mpeg files.
You need to convert thoe files back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion onwards, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • ITunes library not importing video files.

    Hi All,
I'm having trouble getting video files into my iTunes library on my Windows Home Server.
I have the latest version of iTunes running (10.5) on Windows Home Server - all working fine with music. However when I either drag, add through "Add File to Library" or putting the file in the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder.
The file either just doesn't add at all, or in the case of the "Automatically add to itunes" folder moves into the "Not added" folder.
I know that the video files I'm adding are okay because:
    - They play in QuickTime fine
      - A fresh install of itunes on another computer adds them fine and they appear in the Movies Library no problem.
I've tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes with the same result. If I create a totally new library - also results in the same problem.
Any ideas? Seems something about iTunes on my server (windows home server) is resulting in it having issues with video files - once again music is no problem at all.
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Stew

I wish i knew. It seems to be very random in which videos it doesn't add. Is it too much to ask to watch SNL clips on my iPod?

  • Problem With Adding MPEG-4 Video Files

I've downloaded a couple of videos already in IPod video format, MPEG-4. The problem is that I can't add these to my library in ITunes. I can add just about any video file, then convert the selection to a format compatible with the IPod, but I can't seem to successfully add videos already in this format. Why is this?? Any help would be appreciated.

On a side note...when I try to open in Quick Time, I get an error stating that it's a bad file name or volume name. I don't get this error when I try to load it into ITunes.

  • Upgrading to iTunes 10.6.0.40 imports MPEG-4 movie files as "QuickTime movie file" not "MPEG-4 Video file"

Recently updated itunes to 10.6 and since then adding any new MPEG-4 Video file itunes is flagging as QuickTime.
This creates an issue since my Apple TV doesn't recognize these types of files in iTunes.
To validate it's the itune upgrade, previous "MPEG-4 Video file" entries added and played on Apple-TV were imported an now show as "QuickTime Video file"
    Thx

This problem has been resolved after the ATV update was received.
The ATV now recognizes the videos marked in itunes as Quick time eventhough they are Mpeg-4 video files.

  • Playing MPEG video problem

I have this problem when I tried to play MPEG video.
I imported a 10 Mb MPEG video to director cast, it used
    QuickTime to play.
But the video itself plays little slow at first (the sound
was playing smoothly). It's like the video was buffering while
playing itself at the same time. After a few seconds, the video
    plays normally.
My video is 320 x 240 size, running on 24 fps.
    My project is 640 x 480 size, tempo 30.
I've updated my QuickTime player to the latest version.
Yes, I did safe video preloading. I placed the video 5 frames
before it is needed to play.
I checked the following settings :
    Video, Audio, Paused, DTS, Streaming.
and the Playback is set to Sync to Sound.
I tried opening the MPEG with windows media player, and it
    plays smoothly.
But the same problem occured when I tried to play the video
on director stage and director Video: QuickTime preview.
    I wonder what was wrong.
    Please help.

  • To Decode and play  MPEG-2 Video files with JMF

    Hi ALL,
I amin serious trouble with a problem. I am developing a Simulator, a function of which is to decode MPEG-2 Video files in real time and play it as well.I have got a MPEG-2 Decoder implemented in C from an open source and need to integrate with my Simulator which is writtebn in Java. The integration part I am doing via JNI(Java Native Interface). Now I have a bunch of C files in MPEG-2 decoder which are to be compiled during the Execution of the Java Simulator. Can anybody give some idea about how to call multiple C files from the Java Source through JNI at one go? Another problem I am facing is in calling a single C code from the traditional "HelloWorld" Java Code itself. The problem comes when I am trying to compile the shared library between the C native code and Java Code in my Linux Machine...I am getting the following message:
    /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/.../../../crt1.0 : In function '_start' :
