Adding Duplicates or Altering Contacts from MobileMe to Outlook on My PC

Outlook is used as my primary contact manager with MobileMe. Shortly after I purchased my IPad, the following message came up from MobileMe:
"Synching with "MobileMe" will change more than 25% of your contacts (Add 1182/Delete 0/Modify 1175"
This was trying to duplicate and/or modify contacts in Outlook from MobileMe which was a no no! I went to the Apple Store, a support person kindly reset and checked everything and it was working fine. We reset the notification status in MobileMe to any changes and it came up again to say:
""Synching with "MobileMe" will change more than 0% of your contacts (Add 13/Delete 0/Modify 1"
Again, a no no, just in lesser numbers since the notification threshold was set to any changes. I then turned off my sync with contacts button on my IPad
I am now receiving a new message that says,
"Register this computer in the Advanced option under the synch tab in the MobileMe Preferences on this computer.
How can I prevent MobileMe from trying to alter my contacts in Outlook? I also need help getting it all reset on my Ipad.
Thanks

In Outlook export the contacts as vCard files and then it just a matter of opening Address book and either importing them or you can drag them into the app.
It's a pretty simple process.

  • Filter contacts from MobileMe in iPhone AddressBook

    Hi all,
I need to add/edit/delete AddressBook contact in my application, but since the contact's entry will be duplicated after sync with MobileMe, it will cause some problems in my app. To avoid these problems,
I am trying to filter the contacts from MobileMe and let user only access contacts from iPhone. I know there have non-public API that can solve the problem, but i can't use it because needing to publish the app in apple store. So is there any other idea that can filter the contacts from MobileMe?
    Please advice, thanks a lot!

The speed of the iPhone is quite fast. The processor in the phone exceeds pretty much every phone out there. There are no upgrade options also.

Try using the app My Contacts Backup, which will back up your contacts as an attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself, open it on your Mac and double-click the attachment to import them to Address Book (or Contacts if you have Mountain Lion).

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

i am unable to transfer my contacts from my ms outlook to my new blackberry 8900 curve. how do i go about doing this since i've lost my phone and am handicapped without my contacts

    Hi there!
With the limited information in your post ("unable to transfer" is pretty sparse information), I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Problem Importing Contacts from CSV to Outlook 365 Home Premium

I have exported contacts from gmail to Outlook CSV format, unable to import to Outlook 365.  Error suggests:
There was a problem importing your contacts.
Phone numbers and websites can only contain English characters (a-z or A-Z), numbers (0-9), and specific symbols (such as @). Please try again.
I exported from Outlook 365 a CSV file and column by column copy/value pasted the data from the gmail generated file to the Outlook 365 (People) CSV and saved.  I also searched for any such vaguely referenced trouble spot character and removed anything
that feel out of description (I didn't find anything obvious)
characters left in place on emails were (underscore _), characters left in several phone numbers were (comma's , (pause prompts)).  I may have a phone number or 2 that also contain the English character "x".
    Please help

    Hi,
Make sure you exported the Gmail contacts as Outlook CSV format.
In addition, you can also try exporting the contacts as the vCard format, test if it can be imported into Outlook properly.
If you deleted the column of phone, import the contacts into Outlook, will the same error show up?
If you have an Outlook.com account, you can try import the contacts to Outlook.com, create the Outlook.com account in Outlook, after the contacts sync completes, move the contacts to the target account.

  • Moving Contacts from Windows XP Outlook to Mac Leopard Entourage

Is this possible? Can you provide directions? I have Bootcamp if it helps. Thanks.
    Louis

    Latan:
There is a way of importing contacts from Windows XP Outlook to Mac Leopard Entourage and that is by saving a file in a Text - comma separated values and then importing into Entourage.
    Here is how:
    1. Open Outlook in Windows
    2. Click on File and then *Import and Export*
    3. Choose *Export to a file* and hit Next
    4. Choose *Comma Separated Values (Windows)* and hit Next
    5. Then highlight Contacts and hit Next
    6. Choose a filename and a place to save the exported file and hit Next
    7. Confirm with a check mark next to *Export "Contacts" from folder: Contacts* and hit Finish
The above will have generated a file with the exported contacts from Outlook. Remember its name and location on the HD.
    1. Open Entourage in Leopard
    2. Go to File and choose Import
    3. Place a check mark on *Contacts or Messages from a text file* and click the *Right Arrow* at the bottom right of the window.
    4. Place a check mark on *Import contacts from a tab- or comma-delimited text file* and click on the *Right Arrow* at the bottom right of the window.
    5. Locate the file that you created above and highlight it in the next window. Once done then hit Import
That should bring in all the contacts into Entourage.
The above instructions are for importing outlook contacts into Entourage (Office 2008 for Mac). If you have any other version then it should still work however the menu choices may be slightly different.

  • Double Contacts from MobileMe syncing

I have an original iPhone running iPhone software 3.0.1.
Whenever I sync my contacts via MobileMe (not just syncing through iTunes) I get double contacts on my phone.
Things that I have already tried...
    1) Checked for duplicates in Address Book and merged any duplicates
    2) MobileMe advanced setting to replace MobileMe data from Computer data
    3) Checked MobileMe settings on iPhone and turned off and back on the "Contacts" setting (deleted all existing contacts from phone and did not merge phone with address book.)
    4) Restored iPhone as New Phone and synced from MobileMe again
I've seen two other posts on the forum that address this, but none of it has worked.

I had the same "double contacts" issue and followed the steps on the support article referenced above by Jason L. It took care of the problem for me!
This is what you need to do:
    1) On iTunes, plug the iphone and allow it to sync, then make sure the "Sync Address Book Contacts" under the "info" Tab is disabled. (If it was enabled, un-check that option and sink again manually, so that the new setting takes place).
    2) On iphone, Choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then tap your MobileMe account, and slide Contacts to Off.
3)Select "Delete from My iPhone/iPod touch."
This will clear one of the duplicate lists, and now you will only have one set of contacts, which for the time being will be stored only in your iphone. It might take more than a few seconds depending on the size of your contact list.
Now you need to re-enable syncing and allow your iphone contacts to merge with those on your MobileMe account. Merging is the command that will allow you to have a single set on contacts in sync between the iphone and address book. I saw on your earlier post that you were reluctant to do this, but there is no way around it:
    4) On the iPhone, Choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then tap your account to slide the Contacts Sync option back on.
    5) When prompted, select Merge with MobileMe or Microsoft Exchange.
    Done!
The whole thing is described in more detail here (reposting Jason L.'s link): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3677

  • How do you restore contacts from Mobileme to MacBook?

Just purchased iPhone 4s.  Have been having difficulty getting iPhone and MacBook to sync with MobileMe.  Somehow have deleted all contacts from my MacBook but they remain on MobileMe.  Have checked all settings (I think) and have reset sync data on MobileMe.  No results.  Any ideas.

You connect the iPhone to the MBP using the supplied cable and set up the iPhone in iTunes to sync your contacts. Posting in the iPhone forums might be a better venue for you.

  • How do i transfer contacts from macbook to outlook on my pc

How do I transfer contacts from my macbook to outlook on my pc?

    Hello Sm1942,
You can sync your contacts in one of two ways. The first way is to use iTunes to sync them over and you can find the option in the Info tab to sync them. The other option is using a syncing service like iCloud and you can set that up on both on your iPhone and your MacBook Air. For information on how doing either option, the articles below will get you going.

  • I have set up iTunes and iCloud with my iPhone 4S but have not been able to get information from the manual for transferring contacts from Microsoft Office Outlook to my phone contacts.  Is this possible and, if so, how are the contacts transferred?

I have set up iTunes and iCloud with my computer and my iPhone 4S but have not been able to determine whether contacts on Microsoft Office Outlook can be transferred from the pc computer to the phone.  Is transfer possible using iTunes or iCloud or other method to transfer the contacts.  If so, what are the steps for making the transfer successful.

  • How do I transfer all of my contacts from iCloud to Outlook ?

Forgive my ignorance, I am a noob... For my work, I use both an iPhone and a Balckberry, which I sync with Outlook. How do I transfer all of my contacts from my iPhone / iCloud to Microsoft Outlook so that I can put them on my Blackberry as well ? Thank you for your response, even though this may have been covered before.

Back up your Outlook Contacts first. (Select all and drag them to an empty folder).
Back up your iPhone Contacts. (Use an app from App Store like "Multi Edit" or search for "Contacts Backup".
Download and install "iCloud Control Panel for Windows".
Sign in with your Apple ID.
    Sync Contacts with Outlook
The iPhone and Outlook Contacts will be MERGE.
After you sync BB with Outlook you will have ALL of your Contacts on both devices and Outlook.

  • Transfer of contacts from Iphone to Outlook

I have an Iphone 3GS and Outlook on my laptop. Outlook has collapsed and while we have recovered the emails all the contacts have disappeared. I have the contacts on my Iphone, as up to the time Outlook collapsed I was syncing on a regular basis. How do I safely transfer my contacts from the Iphone to Outlook? I only ask as I know that Outlook overwrites the appointments in the Iphone calendar and I would not want Outlook to overwrite my Iphone contacts with an empty contact file. Many thanks.

Put at least one contact in Outlook. This entry can be fake, that doesn't matter, the important point is that Outlook not be empty. With your phone connected, iTunes running, right-click in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings". When you hit the sync button, you should get a merge or replace prompt regarding your contacts, select merge.
