Adding existing folders in mailbox

Adding existing folders in mailbox

You can't add folders in the Mail app unless you have an IMAP email account. You cannot add folders for local storage like you can in mail clients on a computer.
If you go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your inbox, trash folder and sent folder are - if there is an Edit button at the top of the window - tap that and then tap Add Mailbox at the bottom.
If the Edit button is not there - you cannot create folders on the iPad. Your email account is not IMAP. Only IMAP email accounts can create folders on the iPad. Any folders that you would already have in an IMAP account would sync to the device as well.

Greetings.  I'm following the steps in the following link from Adobe:

The final step, after selecting the folder I want to add, is to select Import.  Except, the Import button remains grayed out.  I'm not sure what to do in order to select Import and add the folder I already have.

Thank you for the information.  Yes, that seems to make sense based on what I've discovered using LR 4.  Still trying to come up to speed.  Appreciate everyone's help with their tips and insight.

Folders per se cannot be imported - only pictures (or movies) in a folder can. So, you have to select a folder containing at least one picture or movie (all pictures and movies found are automatically selected when the import dialog opens). This is probably not the case for the folder you want to add, so "no photos found" is displayed in the dialog center and the "Import" button is greyed out.

  • How to transfer pics from PC to Ipad2 without deleting existing folders?

Whenever I try to transfer pics from pc to Ipad2, existing folders are deleted (which mens I only have one folder, cuz everytime I try to transfer a new folder with pics, the previous is deleted)?
I also tryed to trasfer all my folders with pics at one time, which was very simple, BUT then all the pics are totally mixed up and not in the correct folders
I have google'ed this issue, and I can see other are having the same, but I can't find any solution any where.
    Pls help :-)
    Thanks

Create a parent folder on your computer that will contain the named folders of photos you want transferred to your iPad. Select this parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes. To add a new folder of photos to your iPad, place the folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync. To remove a folder of photos from your iPad, move the folder out of the parent folder followed by a sync. The same applies to individual photos. You can remove individual photos from an existing folder in the parent folder on your computer followed by a sync to remove the photos from your iPad, or add individual photos to existing folders of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync to add the photos to your iPad.

  • Can't name new folders or rename existing folders in Finder

I can't name new folders or rename existing folders in Finder. I've never had this happen before. I tried both using the new folder icon and choosing "new folder" from the actions icon. The only unusual thing I'm doing now is working with Spaces enabled, but I can't imagine that this has anything to do with the problem. Selecting and hitting "return" doesn't allow me to either erase existing text or overwrite with new text. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Same here --
I just created a new folder and couldn't change its name. Finder would give me "more info" (permissions certainly not an issue) and allow me to delete (and then recreate) the folder, but not change its name.
Problem came from out of the blue, on a one-week-old system with all OS updates. Also found this old thread, which also suggests a Finder restart: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8989639
So that'll probably do it, but what gives?
Not so impressed with 10.5.7 so far... first a complete system crash while doing no more than downloading updates (a few hours after booting up for the first time), then networking stopped working (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2003868), now this...

I have duplicated these problems on two different Windows XP systems. Neither JDeveloper 10.1.2 or 9.0.5 builds have exhibited these problems.

    Hi Shay,
This dynamic project source feature is going to kill us! We have more than 15,000 files in our projects. Currently, part of them are managed by JDeveloper. Developers have option to load only the files they are working on. If all files in the project source will be loaded automatically, that will definitely be a nightmare to us. The JDeveloper will be frozen from time to time when it start to looking for new files...
Think about why people pick Oracle instead of SQL Server - Oracle is good in handling large data. We, JDeveloper users, sincerely hope JDeveloper team can design/test the JDeveloper on large scaled project before formally release it.
Thanks for your hard work though.

  • Adding existing subversion project to an Oracle database project

Is there an easy way to add an existing set of files to a new ODT project? I'd like to be able to get the latest version from SVN and then place my oracle database project in the same directory. I can "add existing item.." just fine but the problem is the folder structure. There is no "show all files" button in the solution explorer so I can add existing folders that way. I can't create a new folder because I get a warning that it already exists. I'd like to be able to use visual studio without maintaining two sets of source control files on my local disk.

    1.Dowbload ojdbc6,jar file.
2.Right click on project name > Properties > Libraries > Add Jar

  • Creating Folder for Existing Folders

Is it possible to create a new folder for AR for iOS so that you can move already existing folders into it? My folders have become a bit cluttered as I had to create more for specific files, but they should all be filed under another bigger folder. Thanks!

Question: "Is it possible to create a new folder for AR for iOS so that you can move already existing folders into it?"
Answer: (Assuming that you are referring to the PDF documents and folders that you access inside Adobe Reader for iOS) Yes, you can create nested folders using the file browser user interface in Adobe Reader for iOS,
In the main screen (showing Documents, Acrobat.com, Camera to PDF, My Account, Help), you can create a new folder.
    Tap Documents.
Tap Edit in the upper right corner.
Tap the folder icon with a plus sign in the bottom toolbar.
    Enter a new folder name.
You can navigate to an existing folder and repeat the steps above to create nested folders in Reader.  You can select multiple files and move them to the newly created nested folder as well.  But it's not possible to move a folder containing files to a different folder at once.
See Help > Handbook > Copy, edit, delete, manage for more details.
If you use Acrobat.com as a cloud storage service, you can create nested folders using the web browser interface (https://files.acrobat.com/), organize your files and folders, and access them in Adobe Reader for iOS.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I avoid duplicates when adding MP3 folders

I have a folder filled with MP3 songs that I have added to iTunes via the "File > Add Folder to Library" function.
I frequently buy and add additional MP3 songs to that folder (My Music/MP3) and then re-add that folder to iTunes so it adds the additional songs to my library.
Usually, iTunes recognizes that I already have most of those songs and just imports the new ones.  However, if a song that has already been imported before is changed in iTunes (say, for example, you change the artist name from "The Beatles" to "Beatles", then the next time I re-add that same folder to pick up the new songs it also thinks the songs I changed in iTunes are different, new songs and I get a duplicate.
Is there a better way of doing this that results in no duplicates?  I suppose I could keep creating and adding new folders every time I add new songs, but that would get messy fast.
    Thoughts?

The default path for the iTunes library folder is C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes.
The default path for the media folder is C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media.
Both can be edited; the media folder via Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and the main library path by holding down shift as you start iTunes and using the choose or create library option.
Ideally you want the iTunes Media folder inside the iTunes folder as this puts the library in the portable shape that is easy to move between drives, migrate between computers, and backup.
You can use Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset to reset the media folder to the default path inside the library folder, or click the change button if required.
When you change the media folder iTunes should offer to consolidate the library. This makes iTunes make a new copy of any track currently located outside of the media folder inside the media folder and connects the database to that new copy. Once complete it is up to the user to do the house keeping of cleaning up the originals. Alternatively I have another script called ConsolidateByMoving whose purpose should be obvious.
There is another option that controls the internal structure of the library. With new libraries it should be set correctly, but a library that has been migrated from iTunes 8 or earlier might still be in the old shape. If you go to File > Library > Organize Library and find the "Rearrange files..." option is not greyed out then you should tick this and click OK.

  • When I create a new folder, one of my existing folders in another location is being renamed to the new folder's name.

This has happened twice in the past week. When I create a new folder nested inside two other existing folders, another folder in another branch is renamed to the newly-created folder's name. The folder that is being renamed is inside the Links folder. (I am not expecting an answer. I cannot find another place where I can report an issue with the browser.)

  • I have aol for mac.  I can't figure out the mail or how to retrieve folders or mailboxes

First, I don't know if I have a mac intel or a ppc.  I don't know what that means.  Anyway, I have had a pc and aol since the dinosaur days.  Just the other day I got a mac.  I have had iphones since they began and my boys have macs so I thought what the heck.  Well, it is so confusing I am pulling my hair out.  My husband says icloud is on my phone, ipad and mac.  I am having trouble keeping all my photos from automatically moving to my phone.  I don't want 1400 photos on my phone, only some of them and can't figure out how to make it do that.
This question though is about the mail.  I loaded aol onto the mac.  I wanted all my mail to transfer over like it always has when changing pc's.  But it did not give that option with the mac, so it just brought over my account but not my mail, saved folders and all.  I have folders for bills, shopping, insurance, christmas, many many things.  Probably 12-15 of them and when I get email in that I need to keep, I put it in one of those folders and can go back to it at any time.  However with the apple, they don't have folders, they are called mailboxes.  Now I finally figured out how to make new mailboxes for each subject.  However, they do not show up on the left under the mail stuff.  You have to go to toolbar once you highlight the email and go to view, then to move to or something like that, then you see the folders.  If you click on one, supposedly the email goes in there.  However, there is no way to tell for sure because you cannot go to them at all otherwise.  And you can't open the folder cuz it is not in bold unless you are putting something in there.  Then it goes away.  So I don't know if it went in there so I can't delete it and it just keeps piling up.  Also, my sent mail doesn't save automatically, nor does anything else.  Right now my email has a dash out where it says how many emails you have incoming, but it was never there before and I don't think I got any of my mail today that I got now that I am on the pc so how do I take that off.
Also on the on the mac list it says it has like 80 something there, but it won't let me double click or see what it is, so I don't understand.  I just want to get it organized.
Thank you so much for your time.  I appreciate all the help I can get.

    Hi Janice
Fortunately, AOL keeps a copy of mail and folders on their server, so you can be reassured that the email is there, you just have to find a way to access it.
There are three ways to read AOL mail on your Mac.
    - You can open a browser such as Safari, log into http://aol.com, and read mail there (ie "webmail");
    - You can install the AOL Desktop software, which is probably what you had on the PC. I don't tend to recommend this, as there's usually no need to install extra software, and I've found it very sluggish on a Mac. However, for people who are very used to it and dont want to change, the option is there;
    - You can read AOL email in the Apple Mail application.
If you have added your AOL to Apple Mail, your mailboxes/folders should be available to you under a heading called "AOL" (you may have named your account differently). The mailboxes are on the left side - as mentioned above, you can hide and show the mailbox panel. (There's a "Show" button on the top left to reveal the mailboxes, which changes to "Hide" when you click it. If you already see "Hide", then you're fine.)
The server mailbox heading will be at the bottom of the mailbox panel on the bottom left. If you move your cursor over it, and you see the word "Show" appear, click that word. That will reveal the mailboxes within that server account.
In the example above, my server mail account is called "Google", but the principle is the same. Clicking "Show" will reveal all the mail folders held on the server. The same thing should work for your AOL account.
    Hope that helps.

  • Drag & drop regions into existing folders doesn't work?! Bug?

Here is a direct quote from the logic manual on what I want to do and how it should be done:
Adding and Removing Regions from Folders
You can easily add regions to, or remove regions from, an existing folder. This is fairly commonplace as you will often experiment with your arrangement, and find that you need to add or remove parts.
To move regions into a folder
At the top level of the Arrange hierarchy (outside the folder) drag the regions onto the folder, at the desired position.
If the folder does not already contain a track that uses the same channel as the source region, Logic Pro creates one. If it does, this channel is used. When you enter the folder, you see the dragged regions at the drop position.
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicpro/usermanual/index.html#chapter=13%26se ction=27%26tasks=true
When I do this, it moves the midi region but does NOT create "a track that uses the same channel as the source region," like it should! However, if I use the Pack folder command, it DOES create the necessary tracks.
Any ideas? Are folders broken in Logic 9.1.3? Can someone try the following and report back:
    1. Create a new logic session and add 4 files from the loop browser (2 blue audio loops, 2 green apple loops).
    2. Select one of the audio and one of the midi and run key commend -"pack folder" (go into the folder and you should see both the regions and their tracks are now in the folder)
    3. exit the folder and now try individually dragging (just like the manual says you can) the remaining audio file and midi file from the arrange page into the folder.
The result (in my song at least) is a new track called "no output," when according to the manual it should duplicate the track that the region came from in the folder!
Seems like a bug to me, and I would appreciate it if someone could verify it. Thanks

I've experienced this bug, and others, Jonathan. I stopped trying to drag anything in or out of folders several versions ago--just too buggy. Would be great if this functionality gets fixed, but from your report... we're still waiting.
I've found that folders work great as long as you stick to the pack and unpack feature. Too bad this is one of the many areas in which Logic claims to have more features than it does in practice...

  • Send/receive issue after adding too many additional mailboxes

    Hello Everyone,
I am trying to solve a problem with Outlook 2010, together with Exchange 2007 (SBS 2008 server). I am not sure if I should post this in the Exchange forum, or the Outlook 2010 section.
The inbox (or actually all folders) are not updating when I add too many additional mailboxes via Account Settings>More Settings>Advanced Tab.
When i keep it down at 4 mailboxes, all seems fine. When I add a fifth mailbox, it no longer syncs automaticly. The user has to manually select send/receive in order to receive mail.
    What i tried:
    1) Fixing OST
    2) Removing OST, create a new one.
    3) Create a new outlook profile
    4) Tried /cleanviews and /safe switches
    5) Checked all Office updates
    6) Tried different Send/receive group configurations (altough it is to my understanding this should not apply for Exchange)
    7) Disabling cache (not an option, outlook crashes a couple of minutes because of the large size of the additional mailboxes)
    8) Disabling "Download Shared Folders" in Account Settings>More Settings>Advanced Tab
Could anyone assist with this problem? Thanks in advance!
    Regards, Anton

    Hi Anton,
As far as I know, Outlook 2010 allow up to 5 Exchange accounts to be configured in a single mail profile by default. But the limit can be changed up to 15 accounts by adding a registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Exchange
    DWORD: MaxNumExchange
    Value: a number between 1 and 15
Please try adding this key and let me know the result.

  • Import existing folders into iPhoto without copying

It seems like this should be an easy function, but I can not seem to get it to work correctly.
Just got my new Mac today and am still trying to navigate around (too many years of being a Windows user!) and would like to import my photos into iPhoto. I have a TON of pictures already on an external harddrive that are already categorized into descriptive folders. I'd like to import these folders into iPhoto, but want to keep my existing folder locations. Is this possible?
In the Preferences, I turned off the "Copyfiles to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library", but it seems that it is still creating a COPY of the photos in the DATA folder in the iPhoto Library folder. But in the ORIGINALS folder, the shortcut (alias?) is pointing to the original location on my external drive, not inside the Libary folder.
Is this possible? Or do I have to import all my files (essentially creating a duplicate of all files), and then delete the original locations that I have set up?
    Thanks for your help!

    cohencl
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
ut it seems that it is still creating a COPY of the photos in the DATA folder in the iPhoto Library folder.
These are tiny thumbnails that iPhoto uses for display.
But in the ORIGINALS folder, the shortcut (alias?) is pointing to the original location on my external drive, not inside the Libary folder.
Correct, the alias is exactly what I would expect to find.
Is this possible? Or do I have to import all my files (essentially creating a duplicate of all files), and then delete the original locations that I have set up?
This suggests to me that you've not quite grasped iPhoto, and how it differs from other apps.
It's a photo Organiser, and the idea is simple: do your organisation in the iPhoto Window and let it look after the files. Otherwise, all you need is a file organiser - put files into folders - and an image viewer. The catch with that system is that you need multiple copies if you want a pic in more that one album.
iPhoto works on the basis that where the FILES are is unimportant to you, it's the PICTURES that count. So, it, in the default setting, imports the pics to the iPhoto Library Folder and you can forget about them. Then set up your albums, smart albums etc., in the iPhoto Window. The same pic can be in 5, 50 or 500 albums with no wasted disk space.
You can very quickly recreate the filing structure you have in iPhoto: simply drag the folders of pics to the Source (or left hand) pane and iPhoto will create a new album with the same name as the folder, then create your enclosing folders in iPhoto (File -> New Folder).
Some people resist this because the feel they'll be unable to find their pics should they want them: There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Rolls in the iPhoto Window (View -> Film Rolls) correspond exactly with the Roll Folders in the Originals Folder in the iPhoto Library Folder. You can move photos between Rolls, you can rename rolls, edit them, create them, as long as you do it via the iPhoto Window. Check out the Info Pane (wee 'i', lower left) the name and date fields are editable. Edit a Roll Name using the Info Pane, the Roll Folder in iPhoto Library Folder/Originals will also have the new name.
You can run the iPhoto Library Folder from an external HD with no problems, just copy the iPhoto Library Folder there and then hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. Select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. Thereafter that will be the default iPhoto Library Folder.
Finally, if you choose to use iPhoto in the non-default setting, then remember iPhoto will not be responsible for the file management, you are. Therefore, you need to put the pics where they're going to live beofre importing, deleting will also be a multi-stage operation, as trashing the file in iPhoto will not remove it from your filing system. Migrating to a new machine can be more tricky as well. Frankly, I've never seen a good reason not to use the default setting, unless you're using two photo organisers.
Hope all this helps, by all means, post back if you need more info.
    Regards

  • Adding Windows folders to iTunes library

Having some trouble figuring out how to add preexisting mp3's into the iTunes library. The mp3's are ripped from my own CD collection using Windows Media Player. For discussion let's say I have 50 mp3's in a folder I created called iPod1. I go to iTunes and under the File menu click on "Add a folder to library" - no problem iTunes recognizes the folder and adds them to the library. Adding additional songs to the library is where the trouble starts. If I add songs to the the original Windows folder (as I'd prefer to) when I attempt to add the folder with the additional songs to the iTunes library - all of the songs are imported including the originals giving me doubles of the originals. If I choose to create a new folder - let's say iPod2 - the song titles seem to be imported but sometimes iTunes can't find the new folder and they appear in the library with an explanation point in front of them. By reimporting that folder sometimes iTunes can find the song. I prefer not to have my mp3's scattered in a bunch of folders in Windows. Seems like I'm missing something here. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Rich
    Dell   Windows XP

Thanks - that makes sense. Ultimately the goal would be to have all of one's mp3 files in one folder in Windows and all of them in the iTunes library ... right? Right now I only have a portion of them in the library. There are a lot of them so it might be best to start all over - get them all in one folder and "Add that folder" to the library. Then any new files can be added individually (sorted by date as you suggest). I understand that I would lose current playlists etc. All above correct?? Rich
