Adding fields to 0IC_C03 cube

Hi friends,
I have to add some fields into 0IC_C03 cube. The fields are reson for movement ,special stock indicator,sales order etc. They are cmg in the datasource 2lis_03_bf. I did add them and load the data , but the data was not coming properly. Is there any other method by which i can make use of these fields without adding them in the cube and make a multiprovider on that. I need to have the customer field also. Will this data come if i make a multiprovider on top of this . Can i make a generic datasource from the table which is giving these fields and make a DSO with these fields and make a multiprovider on it.
Will the key date concept work on this .
I would appreciate ur help.

After adding the characteristic or keyfigure to a cube by using remodeling concept, how can I get the historical data for that particular field.

depending on your customer need you could use the remodelling functionnality but sometimes you have no way to retrieve what you want so another option you should consider is the following:
Advantages
that will cost less effort and guarantee the result.
Drawbacks
data is redondant for a while
space (depending on the volume of historical data)
So here are the steps :
step 1Adjust your extraction process according to the fields you need to add to populate the cube.
step 2 Then create a dso next or even a cube, feed the dso with a full load with the enhanced extractor you adjusted with the new fields in step 1 only once in fact this should be one shot.
step 3 Copy the query to the previous built multi-provider on top of the new historical data from dso and the running live delta cube. Adjust the queries if necessary.
optionnal Then if you want to get rid of the dso or new cube for historical data you could empty the actual one push the data from the new data provider and that's all.

Adding new fields to existing cube

Hi all,
We have a cube with data, now we added 2 new fields to the datasource. And want to add two more fields in the Cube to correspond to the new fields. What would be the impact on the data that is already there in the cube? Can I go ahead and add the fields in the cube and start extracting data? What I want to know is what would be the implications in such a scenario?
Any insight or help would be appreciated and fully rewarded.

Hi,
At least from the experience I had there were no performance issues. The only issue would be in terms of the time taken to transport. The larger the amount of data ,longer the transport time.
You can continue extraction of data for those 2 fields from that point on. No need to empty the data from the cube and reload again. Only thing is that the data in the past for these 2 fields may not be mapped to the existing data in the cube. If you want to do that dump the cube and reload. Otherwise the data will be mapped from the time you start extracting the new fields with the data in the cube.

Adding field to the Planning cube

We use BPS and we have cube to phase data. We read some data from CRM and use this as a source data for phasing opportunities. We would like to add another field to the Cube and populate that field the same way as other fields in the cube. Can anyone help me with this since iam new to BPS and CRM,

Hi DVMC,
This can be done without disturbing the existing business scenario.
As usual create the CRM infoobject ,Create a new multiprovider ,by selecting the existing real time info provider and the newly created infoobject ,further planning on the new multi provider for attaining the new reporting strategy with out altering the old one.

Not able to add new fields in Content cube

In this case, do you think I need to update the data sourece too, if so how do I do that it's function module. data source I am using is '0ME_ISM_AM_REV_1'. So please give me some more details. Adding new characteristics to cube with data

Hi Gurus,
i need to add some characteristics to a cube already in production, this cube is customized version of material stocks/movements cube (0ic_c03).
i am looking for a way to add the new characteristics without having to do reinitialisation (opening stock,...), i am thinking about a loopback process but how do i manage to get the new characteristics populated for the historical data?

Hi,
If you want to load historial data, you must take ECC down time and re-intialization is required.Becasue you are adding new object in Cube and for that you need to change the Update rules, then need to load historical data, so without down time and reinitialization it is not possible.
Check like below.
You have data in PSA, so try to delete data from Cube and then load from PSA. Because you may write code in Update rules on;y I think. So in that case, it may work.

Addition of a field in a cube

I would like to know if I can add a field in a cube without deleting the data as I dont want previous data for this added field. I am just interested in the new data coming through Delta in the cube.

Hi Kate,
You can proceed without deleting the data if you have the liberty of adding a new dimension and putting this char in the new dimension.
If this is not possible then you can refer to the loopback process: create new cube > move data to the new cube > delete data from old cube > change and activate old cube > move data back to original cube.

Missing movement type data in 0IC_C03 cube

Hi Gurus ,
i have deltas running for 0ic_c03 cube in B1 7.0 i have used transformations for loading cube .
In a report of this cube for plant material stock, i can c the quantities matching with MB51 report of R/3 where as the values are not matching for sum material ( negative stock values with 0 qtys )
i found that a movement type 121 data is missing in BW
i have read thread on the forum suggesting to work on OMJJ transaction and make 121 movement type as statistics relevant.
But i want to know how this action will effect on R/3 update controlling ?
any inputs will b a grt help

Hi,
We faced lot of problems with missing movement type, fo that we taken correct confirmation from MM team and then added it in Update Rules and deleted the data in Cube and then Re-Initialized the Cube.
To do this, you need ECC Down Time. I'm talking about BW 3.5. I think in BI7, it may be easy, (without taking down time, pls check).

There is one cube in which i have to create one field which field is already in the source but not in the target level and the most importantly this cube is working cube data is loadng into it i we have to remodle this cube
so can any body tell without any distubance how we can add this fiel into the cube and map with the source and finally reflect in

Hi Gurkiran,
You don't mention your BW release, if you have 7.x then there is a remodeling function to do this, just GOTO
RSA1, right click on the cube, select 'additional functions' and then you have the 'remodeling' option.
If you have a 3.x release then you could have the problem that there is an inconsistency between the
DB and the ABAP dictionary if you try and add a field to a cube that has data already, in this case
it is better create a copy of the cube, generate an export datasource on the cube and load the data
to the copy cube, then delete the data from your original cube, make the change of adding the field
and then load the data back from the copy cube.

Hi,
Its possible to have that many fields in the cube, but you have to consider what the reporting requirements are and how the data is connected, etc. You also have to consider how much data volume is going to be generated and at what level you are going to store the data in the cube. If your client is suggesting you to have line item level or granular data in your cube , suggest to them to have that in an ODS and provide jump queries from the cube to the ODS if necessary.
If many of the fields are not going to be required for reporting at present or in the future, suggest to the client to have them in the ODS and a smaller subset of the fields in the cubes.

Adding field in Report Painter

Hello Gurus,
I am working in the Report Painter PR20-001.
My requirement is to add a new column in the output of the report but even when i am able to add a new field and save it on the reports execution i am unable to view the added field in the output.
Kindly tell me the entire procedure to add a new field in the output of the respective report painter output.

Hi,
Go to Global Parameters Definitaion in report painter, variable will be used only along with the field, just in global paramerters enter your desired field and click in next column, system will show you a pop up select your variable for that field...
now its just done run the report and test it!
If you still not make it refer to standard report of such kind, you will surely get it....

Fieldcat is buffered - so use
I_BYPASSING_BUFFER = 'X'
Since a while CL_GUI_ALV_GRID is available which does NOT need any fieldcat (is determined internally using RTTI). It is worth playing around whith this class if you have some time. This class is recommended for ALV Output by SAP (but no edit is possible - was never supported officially).
A simple use would be:
data: gt_output type standard table of (adjust!).
*simple ALV output
data go_alv type ref to cl_salv_table.
data go_functions type ref to cl_salv_functions_list.
data go_columns type ref to cl_salv_columns_table.
data go_column type ref to cl_salv_column_table.

Hi Jayapal,
i dont know whether it would help you...you can give a try on it.
Instead of deleting the Transformation, just delete the mappings if any in the transformation.
Goto DS->Fields Tab-->In the Column Template info Object. Try mapping corresponding IO with the Source IO.
Then it will show a pop up give Copy . Activate the DS.
Goto Info Provider>Select the Transformation> If it is active-->reactivate it by clicking the Pencil Icon with glass and click activate icon.
If its not active, then reactivate it again by clicking the Pencil Icon with glass.
