Adding forms in iWeb

Is there a way to add forms comparable to the Windows textboxes, checkboxes, drop-down menus, etc, using iWeb?
Thanks!

I can't believe you can't make a form in iweb. someone must know a way around it. If someone knows the secret then please shed light.

  • Is it possible to make a form in iWeb for people to fill in

Is it possible to make a form in iWeb for people to fill in for people to subsribe

There  are two possible form types that you can add to your website.  One is using a 3rd party form provider that, when filed in and sent, goes directly to you.  Expamples of them, JotForm and Wufoo can be seen here: Add Form
Further down that page is the second type,  Form action forms, that use the visitors email application to send the response.  That may put off responders.  Take a look at both types.

  • Adding form fields breaks tag structure

I have been teaching workshops at my university on creating accessible PDF forms from MS Word. I am very familiar with PDF accessibility. For the most part, the process of field recognition, marking up tables, writing tooltips, manipulating the tag tree, etc., all goes smoothly. I have noticed something that is creating a lot more work for our people, however.
After adding forms to the tagged PDF using recognition and the Tools > Forms > Add New Field tool, we adjust the field tab order and add tooltips. Once all of that is in place and we are ready to fine tune, we click the Tools > Accessibility > Add Form Fields to Tags button. Adding Form Fields to Tags does not work consistently if you edit the tag structure manually while in the Forms creation process. You can do some tag remediation prior to entering the Forms tool, but if you edit the tag structure while in Forms, the Adding Form Fields to Tags often does nothing -- this is certainly a bug in Acrobat X but it is not hard to work around.
The larger problem is that after we click Add Form Fields to Tags button, the tag structure reveals itself to be very much distorted and extreme amounts of tag structure remediation is required. Here are three screen shots that illustrate the point.
This first image shows the on-screen appearance.
Below is the expanded tags tree, prior to adding fields to the tag structure:
The tag structure is clean and elegant. If I were to publish this, no remediation would be necessary.
And here is the tag structure after adding form fields:
What has happened is Acrobat has grabbed recognized form fields and other elements in the document and has jammed them into the tag structure. Other things are affected as well. For example, headings in the page have extra, redundant textruns in them.
This has radically negatively affected the tag structure, requiring the author to do lots of remediation.
    Any recommendations? solutions? similar experiences?
It seems obvious to me that this is a flaw in Acrobat that needs to be addressed, if accessibility is a goal. Or perhaps I'm doing something wrong??

    Hi Daver1111,
Nope. No answer and nothing from Adobe.
I know something is going really really wrong, too: We have a product called CommonLook. It's an enterprise-level PDF accessibility remediation tool. It works well in fixing most structural problems in PDF through a relatively easy to use interface--you just drag textruns and elements around. It also has some tools that automate cleanup for accessibility.
I have no problem using this tool 99% of the time, but when I use it on forms I have made in Acrobat, the CommonLook plugin hangs when I try to save the PDF. It identifies a "structural error" in the PDF and crashes, leaving the PDF unchanged.
You can change the PDF in Acrobat by spending time moving around and creating new elements and deleting extra textruns and such, but, wow, what a royal pain in the *** that is!
Since no one is from Adobe is responding, I'm going to file a bug report.
    Cheers,
    ken

  • Adding pages to iWeb

when adding page to iweb, how do i move the name of the new page off of the top of the home page?  looking to have it on the bottom of the page..  thanks!

Are you referring to the navbar at the top which are links to each page in the site?  If so then you'll have to deactivate (not include)  the navbar on each of the pages in the Inspector/Page/Page pane:
and create your own Text Based Navbar which you can position anywhere.  However, there is a drawback to having the navbar at the bottom:  if the page is longer than the browser's window a visitor would have to scroll down the page to get to the navbar in order to go to a new page. That's not good web page design.
However, if the pages are long then having a navbar at the top and bottom is wise.

  • Adding Form Fields to Structure

I am working with Adobe Acrobat Pro v9 with a PowerPoint document that I converted to a PDF.  I'm working on making it accessible.  It is a simple course certificate with one form field, a text box that the user simply types their name in.  When I run Accessibility: Full Check I get one error message relating to adding form fields to structure.
It says I need to choose Adanced Accessibility: Add Form Fields to PDF Tags.  When I do that and run the Full Check again, I continue to get the same message.
Am I missing a step?  Or is there anything else I need to do?
    Thanks!

Just some nattering here, but -
After any edits/changes save the PDF before running Full Checker again.
Open the Tags panel, expand the structure tree, from the Options menu turn on Highlight Content.
Walk down the tree. Look for <Form>.
From the Options menu (for the Tags panel) use "Find".
    Look for Unmarked Annotations.
Note that "Run Form Field Recognition" will add <Form> to the structure tree.
However, the OBJR beneath it is "generic" and not "your" form field.
For this situation you'd have to add yours (use Find - the dialog has a button to permit tagging an item).
Once the form field annotation is "in" the structure tree you'll want to ensure it is positioned appropriately; in context of the page's logical hierarchy.
    Be well...

  • Can I create a sign-in 'form' in iWeb?

Can I create a simple 'form' in iWeb that allows visitors to 'sign in' or leave 'e-mail addresses' (that automatically get sent to my e-mail address)? No passwords or anything complicated.
    Ben

    No problem...
First, set up a free account at http://freedback.com/
Design a form on their site and select/copy the code they give you.
In your iWeb page, type something like FORMCODE where you want the form to go.
Open TextEdit - free text editor that comes with every mac.
To view the code in an HTML file, choose File > Open and select "Ignore rich text commands." Then locate the .html file and click Open.
(If you publish to your .Mac, mount your iDisk to find it. It will be located at iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/Sitename/Pagename.html)
Find your text, FORMCODE, and replace it with the code you get from Freedback. Save your work.
Remember, if you make a change to a page like this post-publishing, and later re-publish, you have to make the html changes all over again!
You could set up a Find/Replace command in MassReplaceIt (http://www.hexmonkey.brownhost.com/). It's a useful and FREE little program that makes all this post-publish editing MUCH easier and faster.

  • Creating forms for Iweb sites

MY question is about creating forms for iweb sites.
    How do you do it?
I think I read somewere that you can't do this with iweb,
so I downloaded a free trial of rapidweaver, which will give me 3 pages for
the free trial, but it says you need php.
Which I don't know if I have php on my computer, my mac5 os x,
and I am not sure what php is.
If any one could explain how I can create forms on my iweb site
in a easy to understand point form.
    That would be great!

Well I am certainly willing to try, if you could
    explain how to do this
    Thanks for your reply.
    blueform,
If you found my first post to you helpful, please mark it as such. That way people will have an easier time searching for/with a similar question about this topic.
Okay, I can't go into all the dynamics of the process as each ISP may vary enough to make my description unusable. In other words, what works with my ISP may not work with yours. You'll need to check out your ISPes position and requirements as far as this goes.
The first and most important thing to check out is does your ISP allow you to use CGI scripting such as PERL or PHP. Many small locally based ISPes allow this feature. Some large ISPes in Canada such as Bell's Sympatico give you Web space but do not allow scripting.
Next, unless you are an accomplished programmer you need to find (ideally) a free script that allows you to e-mail a form. I generally recommend something from Matt's Script Archive The scripts are are simple, come with instructions and work fairly well. There is also PHP Junkyard. I use one of their scripts for a message board I have.
Be forewarned, there is a learning curve. Also, if your ISP permits these scripts, you will need an FTP client application to upload them once you have made any necessary modifications.
As an afterthought, you might Google around and see if anyone provides a service that might suit your needs. Usually in those cases all you need to do is enter some HTML code into your iWeb page. This is not a drag-n-drop process and requires some "under the hood" work. One last point. Most of the scripts that I've dealt with will require an e-mail address to send the completed forms. If all is done according to instructions, Spammers will never see the address (you set the permissions for the file that contains your e-mail address so that only the owner can read that particular file; the owner being you). Does this give you an idea of what is involved?

  • Embedding a google form into iWeb.

I am trying to embed a google form into iWeb and the full form does not show up. I used the HTML widget and copied and pasted the google link.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Ralph,
We can use fragments for such requirements but at the end when you add a fragment only the xfo is copied not the data.
so ideally this is not possible in Adobe forms atleast for now. so we need to have links to launch the child form.
    Cheers,
    Sai

  • Inserting Forms into iWeb

Is there a way of inserting fill-in forms eg application forms into iWeb ?
Or, can someone give me a solution for producing an application form, apart from having a pdf form to download ?
    Thanks
    Anton

Yes. There are a couple of ways. 1 - use a 3rd party site like Wufoo to create the form and embed it into your iWeb page using the code from Wufoo and an HTML snippet. 2 - use Form Action code.
The following demo page shows each method and the code used: Embedding Forms & Encoding Email Addresses.

    Hi Gordan
Just for information, the link syntax doesn't work on the forum anymore, just paste the link in with no tags or brackets and it will be 'clickable'.
Exactly what are you trying to achieve here?
Have you had a look at these sites which may be of some use to you...

  • Adding Forms - iWeb or other design software?

I need to add a form to my website so that people can give me their name, mailing address, email address, etc.
How the heck do I do this? Is it possible in iWeb? If so, how?
Is there some other website design software that can do this? (And something that won't break my bank account in the process?)
(I feel like such a newbie.)

  • I want to create a form in IWeb can you help?

I need to create a form page in Iweb on my website for visitors to complete and submit back to me.
    A Club membership application form.
    Anyone able to help??

There are online form sites that you can use like JotForm, Wufoo, etc.  Jotform creates some very nice looking forms which you can embed into an iWeb page.  The free package gives you 100 submissions per month and 10 SSL secure submissions per month.  Over those numbers you will need to pay a monthly fee.
Here are examples of Jotform and Wufoo forms: Embedding Forms
Or you can create your own Form Action form which uses the visitor's own email client to send the information. This is not best integrated method to obtain the information.   An example of this type of form is also on the page linked to above.
