Adding Google calendar after email add

I find this particularly annoying...
I had to reset my phone and on adding back the accounts added my gmail account, then spent hours hunting around for the option to add the calendar without success. I remembered I had done this previously without problem but forgot how I had done it.
Then in desperation I deleted the account and added gmail the automatic way (i.e. just typing in the email address from the first screen) and low and behold the calendar options appeared.
Why isn't the option there when you add manually (unless in the 2 hours I spent, I missed the obvious)???

Recent BlackBerry 10 convert (from guess what)

when you use the easy configuration, the Z10 will understand that one account stands for three (email + contacts + calendar) with the same credentials, but three different servers.
when you use the Advanced configuration system, you have to specify explicitly the URL for each server.
So if you want to add a specific calendar from a GMail account, you must fetch the exact URL of that calendar (in the options of the Google Calendar web interface) and input that on your Z10.
This is very useful for example for people who have several calendars on their GMail account.

  • Can't Subscribe to Google Calendars after Migration to Mountain Lion

I had my work Google canendars synciing fine with iCal on my old desktop running Lion.  After migrating to a new Mac Book with Mountain Lion, I cannot subscribe to my gCal's.  The error I get is "Server With Secure Communication Unavalable", which makes no sence.
    I've tried:
Chosing to use the calendar when adding the gMail account to Mail.app
Enabling the Calendar under the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" Preference pane
Adding the account using Calendar.app's Preferences.
The suggestions I've been able to find don't apply, because we are not using Google's two-step validation.
Did Mountain Lion break something with the Google-Apps flavor of gCal?  Is there a way to add via URL?  I tried that using Safari, but it did not work well (created a iCloud Calendar, wouldn't allow me to change the assigned color and repeatedly threw an error for the same over a year-old event despite clicking the "Ignore" button).

Found a work-around.  I don't know if this applies to all Google calendars, or just the Google-Apps ones:
Add the calendar as a generic CalDAV calendar.  Use your full (hosted) gMail address as the username and www.google.com as the server address.
Interrestingly, ML matched this up to the main Google account in the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" Preference Pane

  • ICal crashes on adding Google Calendar (other than primary)

    Hey Guys
When I add a Google Calendar in iCal which is created by me in Google. iCal keeps on crashing on startup. I have sent bug report like 100 times in past 4-5 months.. Don't see any update coming in 10.7.3
Anyone else has this crash? I am talking about adding calendar other than the primary google calendar. iCal says it as Delegation. And it does show read and write access. I created it in Google
And it's just ANY delegation calendar I add.. not a particular one.. All are created by me in my google account.

    Hi,
I think your problem is to do with the calendar data, and that you have a corruption in multiple calendars. Try the last two suggestions in my post here (which is slightly different to the advice I gave in the other thread you posted to):

  • Calendar.app won't sync with Google calendar after Yosemite update

I recently clean installed Yosemite on my 11" Macbook Air and my Google calendar will not sync with Calendar.app. Everything else on my Google account syncs with no problem, but the calendar refuses. I tried with another google account and had the same problem. Unlinked and re-linked the account in question, same problem. Turned off 2-factor auth, same problem. Tried with CalDAV, doesn't work.
In Preferences > Internet Accounts > Google Account in Question, the box next to Calendars is unchecked by default. When checking it, I get a progress wheel that spins for a minute or so and then...nothing.
I'm out of troubleshooting steps. Is there something I'm missing here?

I'm having the exact same problem after clean install of Yosemite too.
Update: I followed the suggestion on this thread and it seemed to solve the problem.
really weird... i just temporary connected to my phone's Personal Hotspot instead of regular home wi-fi,
    and it started to sync!

  • HT201269 How do I get my iphone 5 to sync with google calendar after having synced with my iphone 4s

Upgraded from a iphone 4s to the 5 about a month ago.  Just realized the other day that when I placed an event in my caledar on the iphone it does not sync back to my google calendar.  It synce googe to iphone 5 but not iphone 5 to google.  Prior to my upgrading, it synced both way not problem.  How can I correct this problem?

I think that this is just a problem within your iPhone. Try entering a new item into your calender on your iPhone. However, just before you click 'Done' , scroll lower down to the 'Calender' selection and make sure that you have selected your Google Calender and not your iPhone one.  If you do this, then you will see your new item in your iPhone and in your Google Calender - this is how I use mine!

  • Google calendar appointments not showing on iPhone calendar

All my Google calendar appointments used to show up on my iPhone's calendar. Now they are not showing up on my iphone's calendar. What is interesting is that appointments made prior to last week are showing up on the calendar. However, apppointments made in Google calendar after last week are NOT showing up on my iPhone calendar.
Any suggestions on how to make this work? It used to work and then something strange happened ...

MAGIC happened for me as well.
    Here's what I did:
    (1) I added the Google calendar using the CALDAV option - i.e., go to Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendar and then choose Add Calendar. Here is a link to the instructions I followed:
    http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=151674&ctx=cb&src=cb &cbid=-1g0evm93kqt46&cbrank=3
Here are the steps that I followed:
To sync with your device, follow these steps:
Open the Settings application on your device's home screen.
    Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select Add Account...
    Select Other.
    Select Add CalDAV Account.
    Enter your account information:
In the Server field, enter [ google.com ]
In the Username field, enter your full Google Account or Google Apps email address.
In the Password field, enter your Google Account or Google Apps password.
In the Description field, enter the name you'd like to appear on the account.
Select Next at the top of your screen.
After you've completed setup, open the Calendar app on your device and syncing will automatically begin.
After this, there were 2 entries in my iphone calendar for every gmail calendar appointment - i.e., each entry appeared twice. So, I deleted the calendar I had just added following the advice above and now everything works.
Strange behavior but I am glad that my gmail calendars are now appearing in my iphone.

  • How can I move my Google calendar to iCloud calendar???

On the iPhone I sync the calendar and mail (without contacts) with google. I want to move the current Google calendar to iCloud and start syncing with it from now on.
I could export google calendar to an ical file but iCloud calendar doesn't have an import option. I don't have an Apple computer.
So, how can I back up all my google calendar entries into iCloud???
    Thanks!

So I solved this today.......I really wanted to switch everything over to iCloud calendar from Google Calendar (and had entries since 2008).....The easiest way to do this is using iCal on a Mac. The problem was I don't have a Mac. So I went down to my local Apple store (I guess you could use a friend's or work Mac as well). I asked them if I could use a Mac for a bit to get my iCloud calendar to work and was allowed to do so. Here's what I did....
I opened my google calendar on the store Mac's safari (or maybe it was firefox, I don't remember now)
I went into settings and found the export section. Then I exported all my calendars onto the desktop in a Zip file(I have 13 of them!)
Next I opened iCal on the Mac. I added 13 different calendar titles (I used the same titles from my Google calendar) under the add calendar setting (this would be so much easier if I didn't have so many different calendars)
Next I imported each calendar from the Zip file into their respective calendar titles(again this would be easy with fewer calendars but even with 13 of them it only took 10 minutes)
Finally I went to network settings, opened up iCloud setting and put in my user name and password. All my calendars uploaded to my iCloud calendar.
I opened iCloud calendar on safari and logged in. All my calendars were there. They weren't in the same colors as the one's on my google calendar but all of it was there (More on this later).
To finish up I deleted my iCloud account settings under network settings, deleted all the iCal entries, and logged off of the the iCloud and Google calendars (don't want anyone in my stuff)
When I got home I logged in to iCloud and changed the calendar colors to suit my preferences.
Sorry this was a bit long winded....all in all it took about 20-25 minutes and was really easy

  • Why I cannot set up Lightning with offline access to my Google calendars?

When I set up a new calendar in Lightning, and I choose Google calendar, I don't have the option of 'Offline support'!
I don't have any Cache option among the properties of my calendars either.
So if I don't have internet connection, I cant even see my events in Lightning, let alone editing them.
(I am using Thunderbird portable 31.2.0 with Lightning 3.3.1 on Win 7 Pro 64bit.)
    Many thanks for your help!
    Csaba

Thank you for your answer, Duggabe, but this is not quite the solution I am looking for. One cannot always know when they need to access the calendar data offline, and I guess no one is willing to export everything manually every time he/she makes some changes. I expect this to be automated. My factory default Android calendar lets me access and even edit my calendar data offline. Practically, a local copy of my calendar gets synced with Google, and that local copy can be edited any time. Numerous applications manage to sync local copies this way. I think this should be a high priority feature, and to be honest I expected Lightning to do it this way. Especially that there are many sites that guide you how to set up 'offline support'! Like https://www.alansitsolutions.com/blog/2014/06/26/adding-google-calendar-thunderbird/ But as I see, this feature is not available any more. If I choose to add a 'Google calendar' in the most recent version of Thunderbird, the option of 'Offline support' disappears. Which still does not offer offline editing btw, but at least you can access your existing calendar data. And if you go to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changing-calendar-preferences you get the impression, that they are working on some 'Cache'. It is in the experimental phase yet, which is why I could not find this experimental option, probably because I am on the release channel. Anyway, I would be glad to know at least that this 'cache' option is intended to solve exactly what every Android user can already do, namely full offline access. I hope that it will appear soon in a stable release.

  • Google calendar syncing to iCal

I have my Gmail calendar synced with iCal, however in Google Calendars you can add "other calendars", in this case I have my school's calendar synched up in my Google Calendar online so I can see all the events on one. Is there a way to add this other calendar client to my iCal? When I go to my google account I can see all the calendars on one calendar, but in iCal it only syncs the events I put in on my Gmail account. Is this possible to do?
    Thanks!

I'm not sure this will answer your question, but...
When you write that "your Gmail calendar is synced with iCal," I assume you mean that you have added a CalDAV account in iCal's preferences so that you can read AND write to your Gmail calendar? In that case, in the preferences of that CalDAV account in iCal, you can select "Delegation" and pick the calendars you also want to be displayed in iCal.
    Hope this helps

  • ICal - google calendar no SMS or Message with sound

    Hello,
few weeks ago I found that I could not add "Message with sound" alert to my iCal's Google calendar which brings me to no SMS alerts.
Is it anything wrong with my iCal, Google calendars (I can add Message with sound to iCloud calendars) or it is something Apple/Google recently changed?
If I add Message with sound alert using iCal - it automatically disappears. However, if I add SMS alert on Google side I have SMS alerts even if it does not reflect anyhow on the corresponding iCal entry.

There is a big discussion on this topic on the google calendar forum: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=7f08411ae09ca8da&hl=en
    As I wrote there:
I'm suffering the same, but I have some more information about it.  I have multiple delegates, so I have had the "good fortune" to be able to have some of them go bad and still have others to experiment with.
The ones that have gone bad are those where I made a change in iCal and then tried to refresh.
When I made changes on my google calendars I was still able to refresh in iCal and have the change show up.  But as soon as I made a change in iCal, the refresh gave that error message.
Also, I just downloaded the newest OS (OS 5) for my iPod touch (gen. 3).  That was yesterday afternoon.. and yesterday evening is when I first noticed this problem.  I can't imagine it's simply coincidence.
I just discovered one more thing.  Even the calendars that don't work both ways continue to work one way; changes made on Google Calendar continue to show up in iCal, even though the error message shows up that it can't contact the server or has the wrong address.  It's almost like the relationship has turned into "subscriptions" rather than "delegates".
I have restarted my iMac and repaired permissions with no success.

My Safari will not allow me to open my Google calendar with Google Apps. I have to open my email with the older version of Google Apps. This happened after I installed 5.1.4. I tried to use the fix of changing to 64 bit by unchecking the 32 bit box but that didnt help.

I assume that there are legal restrictions on the way in which iTunes can get artwork automatically from any source apart from the iTunes Store (which is what the right-click > Get Album Artwork function uses).  For example, even though the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to match CDs and retrieve metadata (artist, album, track titles, etc.) also has artwork functions, iTunes does not make use of these.
For manual addition of artwork, there are three cases where the image you select may not be correctly embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • ICal Crashes after adding Subscribed Calendar (google)

As soon as I add a subscribed Google calendar, iCal becomes problematic. Doesn't matter if I add it manually or by using a link. As soon as I turn off the subscribed calendar, iCal starts working flawlessly. Any ideas on how to fix?
    Closed/Launched iCal
Removed/Added subscribed calendar (both manually and via link)
    Rebooted several times
Happens whether on 4G or WiFi
Happens with all options in iCloud enabled/disabled
    Grrrrrrrr!!!!!
    iPad 3 64GB, iOS 5.1.1, Verizon 4G

I looked on Google support as suggested by Eric, but this pointed me back to the Apple support forums where I came across this thread which I hadn't seen before.
Like other thread on the subject it had a lot of suggestions that didn't look helpful. However after reading through the various posts I tried the following.
    1. I went off-line from the intranet, and that meant that I could actually open iCal to update my password within iCal. However when you go back online you still get errors and therefore have to go through steps 2 & 3 for a complete solution.
    2. I then made sure all my Google related passwords within Keychain were correct using Keychain Access
    3. I then ran Keychain First Aid from within Keychain Access
Once I had done all those things I was able to get back into iCal without any errors.

  • Why don't U pay attention to your adds on, like Provider for Google Calendar during your updates? It's not working all the time after your updates. Very annoyin

I do not want to find a way every time and spend hours to connect THunderbird to Google calendar every new release. Why don't U solve this problem finally? Not everyone has special computer skills to find good APi or installation info, and many bullshits.
Pls, do something that finally solve our problem.
We like Thunderbird, but need to use Google calendar - to connect events to mobile phones- as thunderbird do not have this opportunity. So solve pls, or create a program that allow us to use normal calendar that we able to synch with our mobile phones.
    Thank you.

How about viewing that as '''''contiguous'''''? Like contiguous events.
The developers moved the 'Reload current page' to the right-side of the Location Bar in Firefox 4, but allowed each user to move it where they wanted it via the Customize feature. Now with another major UI re-do in Firefox 29, that button can't be moved as easily, continuing what they started with Firefox 4.

  • Google Calendar no longer syncing with iPhone after working fine for a while

I have been syncing my Google Calendar with mine and my wife's iPhone and iCal (on my Mac) for about a year now, and it worked flawlessly...up until a few days ago.
She noticed that her iPhone calendar was completely blank, which prompted me to look at mine. Yep. Gone also. Everything is still in iCal. After fiddling around in the iPhone settings, both of our calenders seemed to magically reappear....then a few days later....gone again.
I see myself as pretty tech-savvy, yet I am perplexed. What is going on here? Is it a bug since it worked fine all this time and just stopped working?

I'm on a 4S  IOS 7.1 won't show my Google Calendar I have about 8 that should be showing. FIXED!!
I'm posting this here because your answers didn't help with my particular problem but aimed me in the right direction. so maybe this will help someone else.
    ------------------------------ This is what I tried ------------------------------
At the bottom of the calendar app click Calendars there should be a check to the left of your calendar. (my calendars weren't even listed here)
The google.com/calendar/iphoneselect solution. (mine was checked correctly)
Google 2-step verification (I even turned this on to see if it would help)
Deleting all accounts “Settings – Mail,Contacts,Calendars – Accounts” and starting over
    ------------------------------ My Solution ------------------------------
Since I deleted all my accounts already this is what worked I don't know why.
    Under “Settings – Mail,Contacts,Calendars – Accounts”
I added my google account “add account” “Google”... so on. Calendar was selected.
I added a second account “add account” “other” (at bottom) scroll down to “add CalDav Account” under calendars.
    Server= www.google.com
    user name = your email
    password = your password
    description = whatever
    Calendar was selected.
Then I went to “Settings – Mail,Contacts,Calendars – Accounts” and down towards the bottom I clicked “default calendar” and set it.
    I hope this helps
