Adding Google Mail to iPhone

I was having problems accessing my google mail on my iphone (using it as the main account for my phone). I had added a 2-step verification process on my account. The phone (nor the ipad) could not undertake this process and I had to add an application specific code. This process is easy and you only need to do it once. I hope this helps somebody...I was frustrated and without service and want to help others from having the same experience. So...here's what the screen looks like.
Again, if you phone will no longer accept your google mail account after you've changed your password and/or added a 2-step verification process, go to your google account on your computer. Look for the screen (see attached) and complete the application specific code request. Best, Nell

Have you tried downloading the Gmail app for iPad/iPhone? This seems to work best for me with Google mail, as well as two-step authentication, seeing as though its Google's own product. If you are really needing to use Apples Mail app, try disabling Two-Step authentication, settings up your account, and then reenabling Two-Step authentication..
Hope this helps!

Ho do you transfer contact kist from iPhone google mail or desktop google mail to iPad 2 .

  • Adding school email which is powered through google mail to iPhone 4s

    Hi Everyone,
I hope you can help me with my issue.
I want to add my school email to my iPhone device. My school's email is powered through gmail if that makes sense.
Steps I have taken based on instructions from google:
Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings
    Sign in to Gmail.
Click the gear in the top right.
    Select Settings.
    Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
    Select Enable IMAP.
    Click Save Changes.
Once, I completed the above steps, I then continued with the below steps
    7. Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Mail settings
    8. Open the Settings app on your device
    9.Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    10. Tap Add Account...
    11. Tap Exchange
    12. Entered my email address ([email protected]) , password (ex: Abc123) , server info as : " m.google.com "
    13. Tap Next
    14. Tap Save
Everything worked correctly, my email was saved to the device. BUT, I then get a pop requesting me to enter in the EXCHANGE password, which I assume to the password for my school email address acount. I entered " Abc123 ", just like I did in step 12 and it says the password is incorrect?
Thus, I cannot get any of my emails through the mail app.
    Can someone please help?
    thank you!

I suggest you contact your school's IT dept.

  • How do I play the .wav file google mail sends me on my Iphone 5?

I have cable phone service that sends out a .wav file of any voicemails I recieve to my e-mail account.  I use google mail on my Iphone, and cannot play the .wav file that is attached to that e-mail.  When I click on the "audio message box", it brings up a circle containing a south-west facing arrow which has a slash through it.

I have the latest software (6.1.4) and I can play the attachment if I go through "Mail" instead of "GMail".  I am still not certain why I have a widget called "Mail".
Inside the "Mail" app, there are it's own Inbox, VIP, Flagged, etc which are all in color.  Further down the list is my GMail boxes and sub-boxes.  They are all grayed out, but still funtional.
Do I have something set up wrong causing me to be unable to play the .wav files that come to me through gmail?

  • Google Mail not pushing on iPhone 4

    Hello everyone,
I got my iPhone 4 last weekend and been setting it up since. Everything works just fine now, except for the push mail. I'm using a Google Mail Account that collects from my actual mail account because GMX does not provide free pushing. I've used this setup for half a year on my Windows Mobile phone, and it has always worked just fine, incoming mails were pushed within 10 seconds max.
But now I have to go into my inbox to get mails downloaded to my iPhone. I created the mail account on my iPhone using Add Account... - Google Mail. Fetch New Data" is set to "Push", and I don't see anything else I can about this in my iPhone settings.
Am I missing something or is this just not working on iPhone?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Nate

  • Problems with iOS4 and Google Mail (ActiveSync/Exchange)

So, I’m one of those people whose greatest virtue isn’t patience.
Minutes after its release I HAD to install iOS4 onto my iPhone 3GS. Since there’s no upgrade procedure implemented (yet?), upgrading took just short of a lifetime: the iPhone was completely wiped, then iTunes installed iOS4, then the backup was restored to the iPhone. All in all, an probably thanks to the enormously big Navigon app, this took almost 90 minutes.
Everything looked fine… but after a couple of hours of normal usage I ran into a “little” problem…
I unplugged the iPhone at around 10 am with a fully charged battery. After just four hours (during which I received 10 mails, 5 push messages and made one call of approx. 3 minutes) the battery was down to 63%. Normally it should still be in then 90s…
It seemed as if, somehow, Mail.app crashed and went wild – draining battery like crazy and heating up the device.
Back home, I deleted my Mail accounts, rebooted the iPhone, added my Mail accounts again (manually) and recharged the iPhone to the fullest.
During the next 5 hours (in a region with full 3G coverage) I received another 15 mails, 10 push notifications and 1 text message, which I also replied to.
The battery was down to 53%.
This morning, I downloaded the “iPhone Configuration Utility” to gain access to the iPhones “console output”. You can find the, in my eyes, relevant parts below this post.
There are some timeouts for com.apple.mobilemail.autofetch and a few reports of an EASIconnection dying with “Error Domain:NSURLErrorDomain Code=1001″ which obviously means “This operation couldn’t be completed”.
Furthermore, from time to time, the EASIASFolderItemsSyncTask fails.
As of now, I assume that this is some kind of problem between Mail.app on my iPhone and the Googlemail server, which I’m accessing via ActiveSync/Exchange, since I’d like to get my mails pushed to me.
I then deleted the Googlemail Exchange-Account and replaced it with the "normal" IMAP-Account. That works fine.
Right now I'm testing with other Exchange servers to see if this problem is on the iPhone/iOS part or on Google's side.
    Anyone else noticing this?!

  • Two Google mail accounts in Mail cannot send properly

I recently added a business email that was set up through google mail to Apple Mail.  Both boxes receive mail fine. However, when I try to send from my business email it is delivered through my personal.  When I try to edit the outgoing server to differentiate the two accounts Mail gives an error message that it cannot connect & defaults to online.   I have tried numerous options with no success.  Ironically, the emails perform perfectly on an Iphone but not a Macbook Pro.  Any thoughts?  Thank you

  • Mail on iPhone iOS 6.1.3 Opens Single Inbox by Default, Not "All Mailboxes"

Mail on iPhone iOS 6.1.3 Opens Single Inbox by Default, Not "All Mailboxes"
I have five e-mail accounts linked to my Mail app (an Exchange account, an IMAP account, and three Outlook POP accounts.  Everytime I close the app (close the app meaning double tap the Home button and close it) and reopen it, the Mail app opens the first Inbox on the list.  Unfortunately, it is an inbox I rarely use, the Exchange account.  I constantly have to press back to go to my "All Mailboxes" screen and then select the correct account Inbox from there. Of course, if I don't fully close the app, but rather tap the home button once and reopen it, the app opens where it left off.
Is there an easier way to make the app open to "All Mailboxes" screen by default vs. the first account listed alphabetically?  Or, perhaps the app opening the Exchange account because it thinks it has a priority over the IMAP and POP accounts?
I searched this on Google but all I could find were forums from 2010 that were never answered.
    Thank you in advance!

Thank you TomJones75.  When I posted this initially, I was running iOS 6.1.3 and not iOS 7.  I don't think editing the order of the inboxes was an option back on iOS 6.1.3.  With your tip, I was able to re-order my inboxes but it still defaults to the Exchange account when opened.
I.e. first account listed under mailboxes is now an Outlook account and the 2nd is an Exhannge account. Mail still defaults to the Exhange account even though the Outlook is my default email address for the iPhone.
    Good tip though!  Thanks!

  • Loosing Google mail messages in Apple Mail.

Fully updated Mountain Lion on both a desktop Mac Mini and a MacBook Pro laptop and iOS 7 on both iPad and iPhone.
I just found out that some Google mail messages of mine are missing in my laptop's Mail client while I can read them at the same time in the Mail client of my desktop Mac at home (I am at work on my laptop, 10 messages are missing, I am remotely connecting to my desktop Mac at home, I open the Mail client and the messages are there).
Following some advice that I read in another discussion in these forums, I unchecked the "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" flag  of the Advanced tab of the Google mail account configuration and, then, some of the missing messages appeared in the mailbox (but not all of them).
While the above happens, I am seeing these messages on both of my iOS devices.
What could be wrong? Has anybody else experienced a similar behavior on their systems?
    Panos Tsapralis.

I forgot to mention that things did not get better after closing and re-opening the Mail application. Also, the missing messages appear in the Web-based Google mail.

  • Issue adding Google account on Yosemite

    Issue:
The Mac is having trouble adding Google account through SystemPreferences>InternetAccounts. Whenever Google was chosen as the account to add, a pop-up pops up to ask for login credentials but instead a spinning wheel was given in the pop up.
    Toubleshooting done:
    - I've tried to add the account through Mail by adding an account in Mail's preferences but same "spinning wheel in pop-up" occurs.
    - Reset the computer by restarting
    - Adding a new account through Calendar's preference similar to the first troubleshooting attempt
    Conclusion:
    - I suspect this to be a bug with the 10.10.3 update since the Mac was update few days ago.
    - Seems like the Mac is having trouble to load up the login screen from Google because Exchange is working fine

GEESH. Finally figured it out after spending about 3 hours trying everything under the sun. I realized that somehow my contact card as the admin had been switched to his contact card in my address book. It's displaying my name correctly now. RIDICULOUS.

  • Preventing google mail from accessing all contacts

    Hi all:
I use my iPhone mostly for work and have a work email on google.
I do NOT want google to access all my iPhone contacts, only a portion of which are professional contacts.
How do I prevent this from happening?
As soon as I add personal contacts to my iPhone google grabs them, and next thing I know I'm on my laptop on a work-only browser session on my google mail and it's got access to all my personal contacts... what the ****?!
Anyone knows how that can be avoided?
    Thanks.

    Hi Marcel,
Database Vault was backported to 9i release 2 so there should be a compatible version for 10g prior to 10.2. The alternative would be to audit actions of users with the SYSDBA privilege and have the DBA's access with named user id's...not with SYS or SYSTEM or / from the command line. This does not prevent access to sensitive data but you can audit the activity and set up alerts when violations occur. Without a method to prevent access you need to rely on policies, procedures and auditing database activity. If you plan to audit you should do some planning and testing for additional storage needs, archiving audit data and possibly performance, depending on your system.
    Thanks.
    Dan.

  • BIS not enabling Google Mail feature set for Google Apps account

I used to be a very happy BlackBerry user when we were still using Exchange and BES. Since then we have moved to Google Mail and my GSM provider is no longer giving me BES (no their GSM provider will either - BES is for coporations only now).
Normally, on my Bold 9900 the Google Mail specific feature set (in particular OTA sync of Calendar and Contacts) is supposed to work through BIS. I can confirm this works just fine when I try to connect to my plain-vanilla GMail account over BIS.
But my company calendar and address book is on the Google Apps domain, not my personal GMail account.
However, my company mail, which is a Google Apps domain, can not be set up as Google Mail, even if I force it to talk to imap.gmail.com. Mail is setup and is delivered (as it would be for plain IMAP/POP access). But Contacts and Calenar are not available for sync.
I tried to go through my GSM provider to have our company's domain name added to RIM/BIS Google Apps Domain lis to force BIS, but my GSM provider staunchly affirm that this is not their problem, but Googles, and anyhow, they can not contact RIM.
What options do I have to force BIS to accept a given domain as being a Google Apps domain?

    Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

Safari allows the expansion of the to/cc/bcc windows so one
may see all the entries at a glance. TIA. wm king

That capability will be added in Firefox 4.
I see you have OS X 10.4 and a PPC Mac, unfortunately you will not be able to install Firefox 4 as it requires an Intel Mac and at least OS X 10.5. There is a third party build of Firefox 4 for the PPC and 10.4 available from http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
