If you read [[How do I customize the toolbars?]], you can find the customize box. Simply drag the Google search bar into this box, and it will be gone :)

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues,
* https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Once it is installed, open Addons Manager and re-enable Google Toolbar.

• Can't get google tool bar with firefox 5. How do I get it?

Down loaded Firefox 5.
Went to Google to add tool bar and said not available to have a google tool bar with 5 version.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for 10 seconds. Does it power on?

• Why there is an icon in the task bar when Firefox is running?!

There is an icon in task bar, and some popup channels upon left-click.
I have been using Firefox for many years because it's CLEAN but this icon makes me feeling uncomfortable. I don't find the way to disable this icon in options or somewhere else.

The iTunes Icon on the task bar;
You need iTunes Preferences:
Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced tab.
Can you find that? There is a checkbox near the bottom: "Show iTunes icon in system tray".
The safe mode start: You need to press ctrl shift and then open iTunes, keep holding ctrl shift until iTunes opens.
Any program that you have that makes use of your iTunes library could potentially prevent iTunes closing as it has to be open in order for another program to access iTunes info.
Another thing that can cause problems is Bonjour. You can try stopping the bonjour service and then opening iTunes - then check if it closes.
The following article include instructions for stopping bonjour:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2250?viewlocale=en_US
If you want a brute force way of looking for other things interfering with iTunes, try MSConfig:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
There is a link to the XP version on the page if necessary.
This is a diagnostic method, not a solution.

• Cannot open anything belowv task bar kn Firefox- can't log into anything

Can not open any thing below task bar- log into email account or facebook.

The Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause this issue. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

• Launching tabs from task bar minimizes Firefox

I generally keep four tabs in Firefox (they all come up when started). I like to keep Firefox maximized at all times. But when using other active programs, then clicking on the taskbar Firefox icon to select one of the tabs to open, Firefox opens minimized.
Firefox 25.0.1, Windows 7 Home Premium fully updated.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

See if you can use Alt + Tab to go back to that lost window.

• Why Google browser bar not allowed in Firefox 5

Why cannot i Insatall Google task bar

Extensions for Firefox, such as the Google Toolbar, include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
(1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
(2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions and run it anyway
This thread has info on both approaches: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/837142 google toolbar does not work with firefox 5.0. why not! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].
Any luck?

• I saved google tasks as a bookmark & the "space" is there but not the tasks

I saved google tasks as a bookmark and then dragged them into the bar above my tabs. The Gmail envelope logo and the word Tasks appear nicely. However, when I click on it, I get a blank rectangle on the left side of my screen, with none of my Google tasks listed. It does say "Tasks" at the top - but no list.
I would really like to be able to pop out google tasks and have them show at my option no matter what tab I'm on. (I can view them any time by going to Gmail or GCalendar, but if those tabs are closed, tasks are closed).
Barring this, is there a different task and calendar I could use that is more compatible w/ firefox. I use an awful lot of gmail but don't use the integration features, so might just be able to use a different set of tools that I could keep "popped out" and viewable as I do my other work.
Thanks
Jeanne

'''Opening in the side bar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.'''
Ok. I guess when I use the dragging technique, that is creating via a link?
'''You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the side bar (Ctrl+B).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.'''
Yes, I can do that, but I have no idea what the significance is of what I am seeing in Properties.
'''Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the side bar" is not selected.'''
It was not selected.
May I ask this question another way, please. How DO I add the Google task list to Firefox, step-by-step?
Sorry I am just not getting it. I appreciate your help. This one is just not intuitive for me and I can't extrapolate.
Thank you

• Upgraded to v 5.0 and now my Google Tool Bar is "incompatible".

I cannot install the Google Tool Bar in Firefox v 5.0.
I have used it in all previous FF versions but now when I attempt to install I get an "incompatibility" error. Any plans to fix this or should I go back to Chrome?

• Google Spreadsheet tabs are covered by task bar in latest Firefox version

When I open a Google spreadsheet in FF, I can no longer see the tabs for separate sheets at the bottom of the spreadsheet because they are covered by the task bar. This does not occur when the same spreadsheet is displayed in Chrome and the problems has only just started occurring with FF 4.0. Is there any solution to this?

The problem seems to be solved suddenly. I don't know why but every time I load maps now I see the full version and not the lite one. It looks so strange…

• Please show me how to get rid of yahoo search COMPLETELY! I prefer google to search in the center search bar like I used to have even though it is on the search task bar

After adding a program yahoo has hijacked the search bar on the center start screen. I still have google in the task bar but would like it to also search on the main search box like it used to. I have looked for hours trying to find a fix but will wait for your response before changing to google chrome, as I am fond of firefox and it's features. I have witnessed many others with the same feeling and wish for the freedom to choose their default browser away from yahoo. It is a step in reverse to not be able to change it !!!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Updated Firefox, now when I open a new tab, there is two seperate google search bars; how do I get rid of the unnecessary search bar?

I updated Firefox, and after I restarted it, when I opened a new tab, I found that I now had two Google search bars: one next to where you type web addresses, and one right above my pinned sites (or my frequently visited sites). I'm just trying to:
1. Figure out why it is necessary to have two of the pretty much identically useful search bars when I really only need one (or can physically type Google in)
and
2. How do I get rid of the unnecessary second Google search bar above my frequently visited and therefore pinned sites.
If you have any ideas of how to remove this annoying addition, I would appreciate it.

I am guessing that you installed an extension, related to "new tab", which added the first search bar. Firefox 31 in includes a search bar for the "new tab" page; so now you have two.
Take a look at that extension (Options or Preferences) to see how to disable ones of those 2 search bars. Or see if an update has been released for that extension, specifically for Firefox 31, with an option to disable the search bar.

• After Firefox has been on for awhile, the Firefox tabs on the task bar disappear even though the pages are still running. I have to use Ctrl+Tab to fix it

I have started using Firefox recently. My computer is running XP. I notice that whether I have one Firefox window or multiple windows open, after awhile the Firefox tabs on the bottom task bar just disappear.
In order to get them back I have to use Ctrl+Tab to select each window one at a time and then they re-appear again on the task bar. Then after awhile they will disappear again.

Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode''
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.

• Doing a Google search via search bar freezes Firefox

I upgraded Firefox to 4.0 RC.
Now when I enter something in the Google search bar and click on "Search", I DO get results, but then Firefox freezes. I cannot do anything. Firefox has to be closed by ending the process in Task Manager.

That happened to me today as well. If you're looking for the cached page, click the green triangle after the URL.
