Adding HTML on iweb

Could anyone tell me if you can add HTML to an iweb website and if so how?
Thanks

Although true that you can’t do HTML in iWeb as is, there are several options available. All stem from a post-publishing mentality. Basically you create a box in iWeb where you want your HTML to go (put in some filler text so you can find it). Post-publishing, find the page with the HTML text, then open it in a text editor. Find your box with the filler text, and add your HTML – removing the reference to the box.
Alternatively, you could get a third-party software that allows you to embed HTML in an iWeb page, and then converts the HTML code (again post-publishing). This method allows you to add code on the fly in iWeb and then ‘automate’ the process of converting the ‘box’ code to straight HTML.

  • How do I imbed html in iweb?

    I need to imbed a few html codes into my website. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. Can someone give me lesson for dummies in a short reply? So much appreciated!

    Annie ~ Your Public Profile indicates you're using Mac OS X (10.4.6), but iWeb '09 requires 10.5.6 or later. So it's not clear whether you are using an earlier version of iWeb or need to update your Public Profile.
    Here's an Apple doc that relates to adding HTML code in iWeb '08:
    iWeb ’08: Adding live content or code to your webpage
    ...If you're using iWeb '09, just ignore steps 3-4 there and instead select the Widgets panel on the right and choose HTML Snippet.

  • Adding code to iWeb

    Is it possible to add code to iWeb templates? Using iWeb version 1.1.2.
    Thanks in advance.

    I then put it back into the folder on my iDisk.
    I don't understand what you mean by that. If you open something on your idisk, edit, and save, there is nothing to "put back". It never went anywhere.
    Did you do this on the local copy of your idisk? In that case it might not have synched with the real one on .Mac.
    I then opened it in my browser (Firefox), and it looked exactly the same as before. I selected view page source to see if it had been erased and the added .html was still there.
    If you added html and open the page with your browser and there was no change, there could be two reasons: the html you added was not correct in terms of making the change you wanted, or your browser was looking at the old version of the page from its cache. The latter is very common with Safari and can be fixed by doing Safari > Empty Cache.
    If you want to provide the url of the page you have changed with some info about what is not showing up, I'd be happy to have a look.

  • Adding HTML code corrupts (and destroys) site

    I was informed by Apple support that iWeb does not support adding HTML to your page (even though I did so in the Forms widget), and that the code corrupted my page (causing all kinds of font issues, blurry images, and wacky layout errors). They said I would have to rebuild the page from scratch (I have already spent hours building an intensive website that is now useless). I am skeptical that all these iWeb problems (font changes, wrong colors, layout chaos, blurry fonts, etc.) are caused by HTML code, so if anyone has any more info I would appreciate it. I am ready to throw iWeb in the garbage and go back to Dreamweaver MX!!! Thanks.

    not totally comfortable posting links to the site (its a business site and not mine)... if you search around for iWeb problems you will find many people having the same issues... when i tried fixing my original page (after deleting the page with the problematic code) the problems still occurred... when i redid the page completely the problems stopped happening (at least for now)... I was told by the Applecare person that the code had completely infested/corrupted the entire site and that it could not be fixed... that I would have to completely recreate the site again... what doesn't make sense is that such a glaring, fundamental problem on such a basic program goes ignored by such a powerful, inventive, flourishing company... disappointing to see all the issues/bugs that get officially ignored on these forums...

  • HTML with iWeb

    Hi,
    I just got the iWeb program, im trying to access the html code to add extra's to my site.
    Currently I am just closing down iWeb and editing through a text program, but im wondering if there is a way to view the html within iWeb so i dont have to close everything down, etc.
    Also when i do this, all changes to the html have to be after im done editing with iWeb because the changes wont load when i load my site in iWeb.
    Any help would be good, thanks.

    You can't view html with iWeb, and any custom html
    you add via a text editor or other means will be
    erased whenever you republish the page using iWeb.
    It really isn't an appropriate tool for what you
    want to do, at least not in this version.
    That is a real BUMMER! After spending many hours over this weekend setting my site up, I need to add a bit of html at the end of my welcome page:
    It is a dynamic weather report.
    I figured out how to add it with a text editor, but every time the file is edited in iWeb and then published, the added code is erased! I hope there will be a way to deal with this WITHIN iWeb soon.

  • Adding pages to iWeb

    when adding page to iweb, how do i move the name of the new page off of the top of the home page?  looking to have it on the bottom of the page..  thanks!

    Are you referring to the navbar at the top which are links to each page in the site?  If so then you'll have to deactivate (not include)  the navbar on each of the pages in the Inspector/Page/Page pane:
    Click to view full size
    and create your own Text Based Navbar which you can position anywhere.  However, there is a drawback to having the navbar at the bottom:  if the page is longer than the browser's window a visitor would have to scroll down the page to get to the navbar in order to go to a new page. That's not good web page design.
    However, if the pages are long then having a navbar at the top and bottom is wise.

  • Cleaning up the HTML in iWeb

    Greetings, Is there a way for me to clean up the HTML in iWeb? I want to clean it up so the " %20 " doesn't show up in the URLs. And will Apple fix this issue in the next release/version of iWeb, does anybody know?
    Current URL sample:
    http://web.mac.com/taliesin2/iWeb/Site/About%20Me.htm

    No problem, you can do it right in iweb. Change the page names in the site organizer so they have no spaces. Republish and your all set.

  • How to edit html in iWeb

    How can I edit html in iWeb?

    but info was needed on how to edit / add additional coding as no obvious way of designing a typical 'Contact Us' form included in iWeb
    Then you should have said that in your topic.
    And if it did not answer the question, then say so in the same topic.
    Anyway, the HTML Snippet was invented for your purpose.
    So find the Contact Us code, usually a form, and paste it in the HTML Snippet.

    Hello Alex,
    I don't have an answer for you.
    But, can you try to use http://drmtest2.adobe.com:8080/Content/anonymous.f4v with locally hosted OSMF player? This content doens't require user/pass info.
    I'm wondering that Google TV's flash player doesn't support prompt dialog.
    http://drmtest2.adobe.com/AccessPlayer/player.html requires flash player 11. That's why it won't be loaded with flash player 10.x.
    Thanks,

  • Adding html to an iWeb site published on .Mac

    I run my music blog entirely through iWeb and .mac, but unfortunately, in order to get my site onto a listing of music blogs, I need to post some .html on it. I tried opening the files on my iDisk but I don't think I was doing it correctly; if anyone could either explain how to do this, or point me towards a thread that does, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

    I use the iWebMore tool which basically post-processes the iWeb produced html to insert your own specific html. Read the manual page, at first it seems a little confusing but in reality it couldnt be simpler.
    Hope this helps!

  • Adding text to index.html in iWeb

    I am currently trying to convert my website to mobile phone. I'm using Fetch as my FTP client, and Duda Mobile to create the mobile site. I am trying to add text in the index.html file, however, I don't know if I need a particular text editor to do this or if I can just use Text Edit to do this. Does anyone know how to edit the index.html file to include the line opf text in the <head> to redirect mobile device users to the mobile version of my site?

    The index.html file is just a redirect to the Home(first page) page of your site.
    You can open it in TextEdit to add stuff.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <title>Title Tag Goes Here</title>
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Home-Page.html" />
    <meta name="robots" content="follow,index" />
    <!--head_code_set--><!--/head_code_set-->
    </head>
    <body><!--code_set--></body>
    </html>
    Note that you will have to do this every time you publish changes to your site since iWeb will overwrite anything you add to the file the next time you publish.
