Adding HTML to a "start" page

Hi,
Opening iWeb, I am now getting a template "start" page as if it's my first time,
so somehow I've lost all of my preferences after juggling a recent upgrade
(am I correct that this would be the "com.apple.iWeb.plist" file?).
I'm wondering if there is a way of copying the HTML of my current website
(previously made in iWeb) and somehow feeding this info to this new start page?
Would I have to make a simple "first time" page and somehow change or substitute
its HTML so that it would look like my uploaded website and then be able to continue from there?

Upgrade of what? And how? You site is contained in the Domain.sites2 file that is located in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
Did you do a system upgrade? Did you do an erase and install installation? If so they you've lost your domain file and will have to rebuild the site from scratch. Chapter 2.3 of the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the published files in the reconstruction of the site.
If you didn't do an erase and install or upgraded iLife the try the following after making sure you have only one Domain.sites2 file on your HD:
1 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
2 - reboot.
3 - launch iWeb and see if you get your site back.

Sorry, Mozilla doesn't have control over what Google does with that Google / Firefox page. You can probably use iGoogle to add what you want to the page, but you'd have to be logged into iGoogle to see those changes when you start Firefox.

Control panel added to start page

On Windows 8.1 and Server 2012R2 I can add a link to the control panel and the command prompt to the start page.
couldn't see that I was able to do that in Windows 10 tech preview

You do not say which Win 10 TP build you are now using.
If you are using one of the latest, i.e. 10041 or 10049, you might not need a link to Control Panel or Command Prompts in Start Menu screen.
Right click at Start button > the popup box gives you a list which, among others, includes Control Panel link and 2 Command Prompt links.

Slightly off topic: when you login to your account, it opens to the desktop. Right ?
So, wouldn't it be more convenient to create shortcuts to desktop ?

Can KM iViews be added to SRM Start Page

Has anyone added KM Document and KM Discussion iViews to the SRM Start Page - and if how?

Are you aware that the content, the body text, is on a different layer than the from fields. So if one replaces a page the form fields on that page remain and content behind for the form layer is replaced. Now you only need to realign the form fields as needed and add a row of additional form fields. All of the scripts for the fields. pages, and document remain unchanged.

IE Added Primary & Secondary Start Pages - Randon 3rd and 4th tabs popping up

I created a GPO that adds a primary and secondary home page tabs in IE. I am using:
User Configuration -> Preferences -> Windows Settings -> Registry
New Registry Item:
Action: Update

Value Name: Start Page or Secondary Start Page

When I open the browser, I get the two sites I added, but additionally I get another 3rd or 4th tab that opens to urls with random strings such as: http://xn--foa3045d/
The only thing that is common is the http://xn--
Any idea why this may be occurring. I am pretty sure it isn't malware because if I remove the GPO, the random tabs go away.

Regarding the current issue, please do not deploy multiple homepages via Registry Items in GPP. Instead, please try to configure it in Internet Settings in GPP to see if the same issue occurs.

How do I remove the automatically added index.html from my home page domain?

I've just recently noticed that muse adds index.html to my home page. I would like to remove it and revert back to how it used to be. This is the 2nd website I have this problem with

I am afraid, this is system default process and it is not possible to change the file name for the very first page created in Adobe Muse from index.html to home or any other file name.

Adding Slide Show to blank page

Is there a way to add slide show for photos to a blank page in iweb? or another way to see photos larger in a blank page?

You can have your photos page start with the larger photo rather than the grid of thumbnails by using adding Cyclosaurus's javascript code to an HTML snippet to the page. Apple Start page no longer works with Safari 1.3.2?

I just set up an iBook G3 with Mac OS X 10.3.9, with all updates, and opened Safari, which is set to got to the Apple Start page initially:

Safari loads the page, but two areas are blank: the "Hot News Headlines" in the middle of the page, and the "iTunes Movie Trailers" on the left side. No content appears in these areas. If I click on the "All" next to "Hot News Headlines" a page of html-code text appears.
When I load this page in Firefox or Camino, these areas have the expected content: text in "Hot News Headlines" and a picture in "iTunes Movie Trailers".
I know Safari 1.3.2 is pretty old now, and cannot be upgraded to anything later, since it's integrated with 10.3.9; for this reason I recommend using a more current browser such as Camino or Firefox with this System. But I was just wondering: has anyone else seen this behavior? Is Apple's own web page now too much for Safari 1.x to handle?

Yes, Safari v1.3.2 is quite dated by today's standards. And yes, the Apple StartPage doesn't work for me either 100% on Safari v1.3.2.
Most Panther users have migrated to Camino. FireFox 2 is no longer updated for Panther either.
On Panther I use Opera and SeaMonkey.

What html code will start an EXE (program) with a click on a webpage link?

The code in bold below worked. After I switched my browser from IE 11 to Firefox to get the hover on hotspots to work, the program gave me this error message. I moved the EXE file to my local file folder and tried it as shown below. Still no success. Any suggestions?

However, you will still have problems with getting it to work cross-browser. Honestly, browsers are not supposed to have access like that to the client side file system, which absolutely makes sense for the web.
That is why you may have to approach the solution from a different angle - perhaps create a server side cloud version of your application(s) which can be easily accessed and run by your family members. I believe you used C to develop the applications? Although I have no experience with this framework, Wt might be a solution to convert your projects to server side applications:

How do I replace bookmark bar that was lost when a new Mozilla Fox Start page suddenly appeared with a Zone Alarm Community Toolbar, and nothing I have so far tried, working with "Show all Bookmarks", works ("Unable to process the backup file).

My current version is 6.0.2. A box appeared a few days ago informing me of an update to 7 (x?). I declined for the time being.
Then a Start Page just showed up missing the bookmark tool bar. I tried to import a bar from another browser. Nothing showed up. Then, I went to "Help". First, I clicked on "About Firefox" where I was informed of an update. This time, I tried it. When I clicked on "Apply Update", I received a message; 'Update could not be installed" despite there being no other Firefox browsers running.
I went back to "Help" and clicked on "Firefox Help". A page came up with the URL in place, but the page would not load ("Cannot find server at support.mozilla.com"). After several clicks on "Try Again" with the same result, I copied the URL and pasted it into a different browser, from which I am now working.
Before sending this question, I tried the two procedures ("Manual Backup" and "Restoring From Backup") found on Bookmarks/Show All Bookmarks/Import And Backup/Restore, using both "stored backups" from Mozilla's Profile folder and "Choose a file", as well as Bookmarks/Show ... /Backup. In each case, the response was, "Unable to process the backup file".
I had previously tried another method I found on Google which involved copying and saving a Mozilla backup file (this is the file I used in the procedure above - "Choose a File") found in the C:/Documents And Settings/.../Profile Folder, then renaming the original file "backup.HTML" and saving it in a folder one level up from its original location. The Bookmark bar was to show up after shutting down and reopening Mozilla - it never happened. I replaced the original backup file.
It occurred to me to locate the Bookmark File for this browser (Chrome) and using it in the "Choose a File" method, referred to above. But there is no extension included in the file name, and I was afraid to try it.
I'm out of ideas. Is there something else to try?

Check that the Bookmarks Toolbar is visible and that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is still placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
* Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" or other items that are missing in the toolbar palette or on a toolbar then click the "Restore Default Set" button

How can I make Mozilla Firefox Start Page use Google search instead of SearchCompletion search?

I have just upgraded Firefox 9 to 10. I noticed when I fire up Firefox at the Start Page and enter a query at the search bar, the resulting pages are from SearchCompletion engine.
How do I make Google search engine as the default engine at the Firefox Start Page ... like it has always been?
Seems like one of those irritating changes that happens when upgrading versions...

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

Hello, I once had access to a Firefox/Google start page which began all searches for US web sites. On this start page, just below the search bar (right side) there was the option to switch the search to web pages from Canada only. Looks like you have have something installed that customized the Google / Firefox Homepage and added that SignIn link and the blue line above "Web".
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

Applications Start Page Profile Option Causing Issues

Hello Oracle Gurus,
I'm having an issue in a 12.1.3 instance that I think may be related to the "Applications Start Page" profile option.
For testing purposes, we set the profile to a specific Self-Service page at the Site level. We eventually removed the Site level profile and added it at the user level just for specific users, but since the Site-level profile was set, every time we click the Home link in the upper right-hand navigation, we get an "unexpected error." If we attempt to log in as a user that does not have the Applications Start Page profile defined, we also get an unexpected error.
After getting the error using either of the methods listed above, if we then try to navigate back to the login page, the instance throws a 500 Internal Error.
If we close the browser and navigate to the instance again, we're able to log in without any issues with user accounts that have an Applications Start Page profile defined.
Our "Self Service Personal Framework Mode" is set to "Framework Only" at the site level.
Bouncing Apache seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but then it comes back again a few hours later...
We've opened a Service Request, but has anyone else run into this before / have any ideas on how to fix it?

Strange bug -- adding one more button OR page causes Form warning to appear

I'm building a simple interactive document in InDesign CS4 on the Mac, to be exported/delivered as a PDF. There are a few text-based buttons on the Master Page that are set to Go To a Text Anchor on Release. There are 4 buttons of these buttons on the page, and each one leads to a different page in the document, and they all work fine. They are all built the same way.
I want to export a PDF that opens cleanly in Reader, meaning no unexpected dialog boxes or warning messages appear. Up until this point, my document opens cleanly in Reader.
However, when I create a FIFTH button (using the exact same method used to create the other buttons), OR I add ANY more pages to my document (which currently stands at 16 pages, but will need to ultimately be upwards of 40), for some reason, opening the PDF in Reader causes Reader to start displaying the large, distracting pink warning message at the top of the page:
"Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."
The fifth button I create (from scratch) causes this message to appear.
Or, if I add another page (using my Master Page, where the buttons are used), this message appears. Even if the fifth button is not created, and I add another page from the Master, this message appears.
If I add a blank new page (without using the Master Page), the message does NOT appear.
So, for some reason, adding ONE more button, or referring to the Master Page in the document ONE more time by adding a 17th (or more) pages, seems to kick InDesign/Acrobat Reader into thinking my document is suddenly a form, and causes Reader to display that obnoxious pink message when opening the document.
I've tried several troubleshooting steps.
- I've ensured my buttons have unique names.
- I've tried creating the fifth button from scratch, and also tried creating it from duplicating one of the existing "good" buttons.
- I've made sure the button has a destination page/Text Anchor to go to.
- I've opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro 9, and gone through all of the page and buttons in the Forms Manager, and there is nothing out of the ordinary in that view.
Why is Reader suddenly thinking my document is a form (that "cannot be edited/saved") when I add one more button, or one more page!? It's bizarre, and quite frustrating.

You can use that same workaround with ID CS4 files. You just have to make the PDF and then go into Acrobat to add the security that doesn't allow editing (Acrobat -> Security -> Encrypt with Password) . That gets rid of the warning about the form. Of course if you actually have a form somewhere in your document, you won't be able to use that......
