Adding HTML without a .mac account?

I am trying to add some html code to use google analytics and add a paypal button to my website. I was trying to follow the instructions on Vark Girl's website, but I can't enable my idisk because I don't have a .mac account. Is there any other way to do this?

If you are using a server other than .Mac, then you are publishing your site to your local drive and uploading via ftp. You just add whatever code you need to your .html pages either on your local drive or directly on the server, using a text editor like TextEdit or TextWrangler.

You just publish to a folder instead of to .Mac and then upload with an ftp program. Here are some tips:

  • Purchasing photos in iPhoto without a .mac account

Is it possible to purchase photos, books and cards through iphoto without having a .Mac account. I have friends with a new iMac, they have no use for a .Mac account. They just want to purchase photos, cards and books via iPhoto. They have actually created some cards and books but when they try to purchase it asks for their .Mac account.
Powermac G5, MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

You don't need one of those $99 .Mac accounts for purchasing, but you do have to set up a .Mac ID (free) so you can tie it to a credit card which will be used for purchasing prints and books.
If they buy from iTunes, or even the online Apple Store, they might already have an account set up for them.
The $99 .Mac account is a premium service that gives you email, webspace and some online tools as well as iWeb integration. If you already have that, then you can set up your purchasing using the same account as an ID, but you don't need to be a subscriber.

  • Can i make an iweb website without a .mac account?

So my 30 year old friend is asking me to make a website for his carwash. I can make it and everything, but i'm only 12, and i dont want it running though my parents .mac account. Is there any way of having the website and publishing directly on a domain name, without having it run through my .mac?

Is there any way of having the website and publishing directly on a domain name, without having it run through my .mac?
Yes. Build it normally, and then publish it to an FTP server or to a folder depending on the instructions provided by the organization hosting the site.

  • Best way to publish multiple sites without a .mac account?

Hi, all you mac geniuses out there!
So, I have a mac and a .mac membership and iweb. I use and love all of them. I also have a business in which I am about to incorporate the service of designing websites for various individuals. I would love to be able to use iweb for this. However, I can't put it all on my .mac account. So, my questions are the following:
    1. Do I charge people extra and buy them a .mac account so they have their own idisk even though they won't need the e-mail and other .mac features?
    2. Can I create a website for them on iweb, buy a domain name for them through godaddy or somewhere, publish to a folder, and then upload to a separate hosting space (like through godaddy or somewhere)? And if that's the case, what is the best (and easiest) place to host a site and how exactly does one go about uploading the site once it's published to a folder? Will it still look like the iweb layout?
    3. Any better suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Lisa

I don't think this would be necessary...

Yes. The best thing for you to do would be to get familiar with a program called "iWebSites" ( http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/ ). I'm sure you don't want your personal .Mac website to be mixed in with your client websites. In addition, you will appreciate the ability to be able to publish your various websites INDEPENDENTLY of one another, so that you only publish your personal site to your .Mac account and your client sites individually as needed. iWebSites helps you to create separate Domain files for iWeb so that each website can "live" in its own space and be edited and published separate from every other site.
But yes, as far as your client websites go, prepare for a new site with iWebSites, design the site in iWeb, then "Publish to Folder" and then register and upload to the appropriate domain name server directory. I think this would be a slick way to run your business....full service, right?
Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Publishing without a .mac account??

    Hi all,
I have a .mac account but want to create a site with lengthy podcasts and the like. So i have some server space I use which I want to publish my site to. I know how to use a client and upload the whole folder but is there a way in iweb or a client that only uploads only the changes as re-uploading a large size site every time I add to it would be a nightmare.
Any help as I would very grateful.

A list of Mac FTP clients is here:

  • Can iWeb be used without a .Mac account?

Just wondering, is it possible to use iWeb to create .html pages I can save and upload to _my own_ web space?
Or is iWeb tied to .Mac, so it can only be used if you have an account?

  • Can I send my photos by email without a .Mac account?

Got my first digital camera, got them into iPhoto but can't send them by email as I get Error message: "This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The server "mailhost.worldnet.att.net" refused to allow a connection on port 587," or sometimes, "The connection to the server, etc. . . . on port 587 timed out." I've gone to Mail Preferences and when I tried to "add" I only get the option to become a .Mac subscriber, which I don't want to do. This has happened previously with automatic replies to some businesses which only want to send replies by Mail. I use Safari consistently and don't see why I have to pay to send replies or now, my photos, to someone. Do I have other options or should I be asking AT&T these questions? Thanks for any easy-to-understand help.

You do not need .Mac in order to send photos by e-mail. It sounds like you use ATT as you internet provider. Have you configured Apple Mail to be able to send e-mail yet? Can you send an e-mail text message OK?
If you haven't yet gotten Mail configured to work with your ATT account a quick call to ATT should give you all the information you need. Setting up Mail is easy.
    Post back with further questions.

    Steve M.

  • Is photocasting possible without a .Mac account?

I had a quick look last night but couldn't figure it out.

  • Syncing ical between 2 macs without .mac account, is it possible?

    Hi all,
I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro and want to be able to sync iCal over the 2 machines so that entries added/updated on one will appear on the other.
I don't have a .mac account and don't really want to get one as this is all I would be using it for. So is this possible without a .mac account?
The two computers are not yet networked (I think) however they do share the same broadband internet connection through the same Belkin router, so I presume I can connect the two through this way (that will be my next question!!!)
How is the easiest way to achieve this?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

take a look at busysync, I think that will help you achieve what you want to do with your two computers over a local network.

  • Book printing and web exporting from Aperture without .mac account

can I export web logs and have apple books made without a .mac account?

A .Mac account is not required to order iPhoto or Aperture books from Apple or to publish an Aperture gallery to the Internet; in the second case, you will need a webserver to put the gallery on.

  • Do I have have to have mac account in order to use iWeb?

can I still use iWeb without a Mac account? do i have to have a mac account?

  • Web gallery without .Mac account

I am using the 30-day Aperture trial.
Is it possible to make and export a web gallery without owning a .Mac account ?
I just want to use the web gallery on my own web space.
    Ben

Web Gallery is connected to .mac and can not be used to publish to other sites. However, you can make web pages and then export to SmugMug, Flickr, PhotoShelter etc. Web pages can also be exported to a folder on your system and then exported to your site.
You can also use iPhoto and iWeb in conjunction with Aperture and then export your galleries to other servers.
A little extra off topic info:
.mac users will automatically be upgraded to the new MobileMe as soon as it becomes available.
