Adding image/photo without a white border

Hello, I have searched these discussions and looked through help and cannot find an answer if there is one. I would like to be able to add an image or photo to a page without that automatic little white border . I do have photoshop if that helps. Is there a way to acomplish this? Thanks... having LOTS of fun with iWeb.

Hi, thanks, but I still get the white border around the outside of the graphic when I drag to an iWeb page. I created a gif, masked the white and saved with transparency checked, and on the graphic the white does not show, just the black vector art, but there is still a white border around the outside.
I would like to screencapture the background in iWeb and create an image on it in photoshop so that when I place it back into iWeb it will blend with the background and not have a white border. Not on a Photo page, but say, on the Welcome page. Can this be done or what am I doing wrong? Thanks:)

  • IOS 7 photos iPhone 5s white border on landscape?

When I rotate to landscape a picture taken in landscape doesn't fill screen . White border shows?

When I tap the white at the top goes away and the picture expains top and bottom but the white at the sides go to balck but the picture is not as wide. Changed to 5s and ios 7 so not sure what makes things different before with my 5 and ios 6 I'd get full landscape.

  • Photo Icons now have White Border in Finder...

My Photo Icons in the Finder, suddenly all have White Borders. What has changed? Something in an update? How do I turn this white border off? It's made all the pictures in the icons smaller. If this was supposed to be an improvement, it should really have been optional.

Umparrothead, How was it that it worked for years (no borders) with or without a custom thumbnail, unless the custom thumbnails have all suddenly disappeared?
Looking through my many folders of pictures, yes, some have the borderless, custom thumbnails, but very few. Basically anything produced with Photoshop (that I'm sure creates a custom thumbnail).
I'm thinking that the 'image preview' method you describe, had in the past, drawn the thumbnail without the white border, and some software update has changed things?
I only know that I have never seen these white borders till very lately, and I have thousands of images on my Mac.
And you're right, I'd hate to go through all my images to create custom thumbnails, resetting dates etc.
There must be a way to tell OSX to display the thumbnail of an image file (that does not already have a custom thumbnail) without the white border?

  • Cannot edit keywords - white border on box

I have an issue which emerges intermittently & I do not know what causes it or how to escape it once it has occurred....
The keyword box for an image suddenly shows a white border and its contents cannot be edited. Keywords can only be added through the input box below the main box, keywords cannot be removed once input and cannot be edited.
If anyone can explain what brings this on and how to escape it then I would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Scott

I just created the white border.  Quitting and coming back into Lightroom cleared the issue.
Prior to me noticing the border I did a lot of events that may or may not be associated.
I searched for "Christopher", added photos to a quick collection, selected all of them and exported photos from Lightroom as email size and full resolution. Used Photoshop to convert some Microsoft Paint images to PDF then used Lightroom to Synch the folder and import 2 Photoshop documents which I keyworded.  Of course, the customer wanted more screen shots captured and converted so I did the convert to Photoshop and synch/import to Lightroom.  I pulled the MS .BMP files directly into Photoshop from Explorer without going through Lightroom.  The Photoshop documents were discovered and imported.
The immediate actions just prior to the problem.
Photoshop was open with no open documents.  I started key wording raw files that had minimal previews.  I completed a series of about 10 photos with the keywording menu (right side menus) open.  The photos were in loupe view.  Just prior to noticing the white box I had zoomed into a photo to identify a person.  I started typed his name "parker" which contains a lot of Lightroom hot keys.  I noticed the white box after the computer returned to normal and I was back to the keywording screen.
My crappy computer may be to blame
It is fairly slow (looking to replace it).  Sony Vaio VGN-CR410E, Intel Core2 Duo T5550 @ 1.83Ghz (2 core processor), 3GB RAM, Windows Vista 64.  Photos on an external HDD (USB 2.0), previews and catalog on local drive.
    Lightroom
Lightroom version 3.4.1 [729592] Built-in memory and Real Memory available to Lightroom 3061.6MB.  Real memory used by Lightroom 464.5 (variable).  Application, Library Path, and Settings folder are all on C: drive in default locations.
Hopefully that helps someone figure out the cause.  I don't do a lot of software testing but it is in my past.

  • Using Postcard Template, how do I print with NO white border?

I am trying to use the 4 postcard template and cannot get the photo printed without a white border around the edge of the paper. I want to the photo to take up the entire card. What am I doing wrong? Obviously I am new to this so I would appreciate very simple instructions.

To test how close to the edge your printer prints, just make up a page in Pages with an all over grey box and print that.
Then adjust your postcard template to suit.
You have not said whether you are printing to A4 or US Letter.

suggests you can print to larger paper stock and possibly trim it back.

  • How to combine two photos in one without white border?

I am trying to combine two different photos next to each other (each 10 cm * 7.5 cm) in one of 10 cm * 15 cm and save it as a jpg file. Unfortunately when I do this in the print module (custom package) I get a file with a white border. I have set up page settings to 10*15 cm without border. How can I get a combined file without a border?

    Titas,
This involves row level comparison of the report column data values we can achieve this in BI Publisher but at answers level there is no option.

  • Image Added to PDF FFile via Preview Adds Large, White Border

::not sure where to stick a 'Preview' discussion::
I've downloaded several books as PDF files to add to my iBooks app on my iPhone, and I'm wanting to give them their respective book covers. I open the PDF file in Preview, drag and drop the image to the top of the list to create the cover, but I get an ugly, white border around the image itself. There is no white border on the image file itself, so I have no idea why this border is being created.
I've noticed smaller image files have a larger border, but the image I'm using is 716x1024. It doesn't matter if I increase the image size to help reduce the white border, it still remains.
    Any advice?

Edited to add - sorry, my description was slightly wrong.
If I open a single .JPG in a new Preview, and save it as a .PDF, the dimensions are fine. The issue only occurs if I try to add .JPG's to existing PDF's.
It also occurs if you use the shell to convert a single JPG image, i.e.
    "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/./convert" -f /users/me/downloads/cvg06300162.jpg -o /users/me/downloads/cvg06300162.pdf
    - this gives the reduced size image as well.

  • White Border Around Template Images

I recently created a "page layout" document from a template. This is my first attempt to use a template and it was all going well. Until I hit "print." When I print the document, the images that were already part of the template are printing with a white border around them. It looks fine in Pages and when I go to Print Preview, but it comes off the printer looking funny. What's the deal?

Thanks for the clarification. I had a hard time selecting that white border around the photos. I couldn't even figure out what it was for awhile. I think the printing problem is related to that white border which is an image, photoBG_triple.png, that is behind the photos & their masks & on top of the lined paper image, notepaper.png. I think all that layering looks nice on screen or PDF, but could be a printing nightmare. How does it look funny? And what kind of printer are you using?

  • White border around pasted images

This is probably a very simple problem, I could just fix it by restoring default settings, but I'd like to know how to do it manully. Basically whenever I copy & paste an image, a white border is created around that pic. Usually it's just the selection I wanted that gets pasted without any borders.
    thank you in advance

I will add if the layer the image is on the border will be white, however if it is normal layer, the border will be transparent. If it is transparent, you can either flatten the layer(s) or add a layer move it below the image layer then fill it with white.
Note, the second method of using a layer is a great tip for using other colors, gradations, patterns, etc.

  • Problem with white border around images

    Hey guys,
I'm new to the creative suite and have just finished running through all of the video tutorials, etc. I'm having a small problem which can be seen in the sample site I'm fooling around with here:
    http://www.andrewedunn.com/gsd/
I'd like to get rid of the small white border around the "GS" logo. It is an illustrator document.
Basically I put the letters in place, converted them to paths (so I can resize it) and dropped it in my GoLive document as a smart object.
A google such suggested rasterizing, but I couldn't get it to work after fooling with it a little bit.
Further, if I wanted to add a drop shadow to it, how can I do it so that it is transparent on top of the background images in golive? The one time I tried it, the drop shadow was placed on top of a white background.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Are your background images always going to be displayed left-aligned on a black background and always the same size, so that the left half of the logo will always be over the photo and the right half will always be over the black? Or will the size or placement of the photos vary?
Are all of the photographs in approximately the same moderate tonal range, or will some be bright and some dark?
If the background will be consistently as you show it, you should be able to anti-alias your logo against a medium gray on the left and black on the right for acceptable results. If the background is more varied, you are not going to get good results with either GIF or JPG format.
    See this related thread:

    > Further, if I wanted to add a drop shadow to it, how can I do it so that it is transparent on top of the background images in golive?
Only by exporting as a transparent PNG, but then older browers won't display it properly.
If you are really needing to have a logo that casts transparent drop shadows on top of a wide variety of images, you might consider going the Flash route, even though you aren't planning animation. Flash has very good transparency handling, and there are Flash player plugins that are compatible with browsers that won't display PNG images.

  • Getting rid of white border around photos when using iphoto to iweb

    Hi there,
Am creating web pages in iweb and importing photos from iphoto. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the white border around my photos (image frame)? Hoping to enhance some of the templates with my own images. I also have photoshop elements and have been having the same problem there. Sure appreciate. Kim Strouble

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The link to the site is broken. There is a fix for some of the strange goings on since the MobileMe conversion. See Wyodor's post in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1605665&tstart=0. After applying the fix to iWeb I found I might have to republish a second time, occasionally a third and make sure I cleared my browser's cache.
If you're using Firefox 3 that's a different solution that can be found here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7486799#7486799
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Adding images and buttons without a frame appearing

I would like to add images to some of my pages without having them appear in a frame. I would like to place some transparent gifs on the page to use as buttons for hyperlinks. I would also like to have some photos (with transparent backgrounds that appear on the page and are not surrounded by a picture frame. Any Suggestions

iWeb seems to default to stroking newly-added images and shapes. Pages (iWeb's close relation) includes a way to change the default appearance, but I can't find anything similar in iWeb. You can, of course, remove the stroke using the Graphic Inspector (just set Stroke to None). Transparency in gifs and photo images is supported. Just drag into iWeb or use Insert > Choose... Again, remove the stroke if this appears.

  • How can I get an even white border around 4x6 photo I am printing?

I am doing some photo restoration. I have a very very high res image that I want to print out at 4x6 and 8.5x11. I need it to have an even white border around it.
How can I do this in Photoshop CS5.5? I try to import it into inDesign it the dimensions don't mesh with the border. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

If you want to add the border to the image iteself you could use Image > Canvas Size to increase it accordingly.

  • My new iMac with Yosemite displays photo icons with a white border.  How can I remove this border?

How can I remove the white border/'frame' around the photo icons, which I store in folders other than iPhoto?
My computer is an iMac 27" (Late 2014 5K Retina display) with Yosemite 10.10.3.
The border does not exist on any photos /images created on my MacbookPro (Lion) or any earlier computers.  It appears after importing to the iMac and only then after saving in either Preview or Photoshop Elements.
I have looked in all "Preferences" but could not find how to remove the border.
Any advice will be gratefully received.

Thank you for the reply. I wanted to wait awhile in order to ensure that this corrected the issue. For a brief while, it did! However, it did not take long before the screen began once again hijacking my home button presses. This occurs even with Firefox removed from default applications ( triple-checked ).
This never happened before version 35.

  • How can I create a white border around figures that are in an image? (CS 6; examples+image included)

    Hi,
I have CS6 and am wondering how to create a white ("comic style"?) border around figures in an image, as in the examples below. I don't wish to include the black shadow of the border, just the white part.
    Examples:
Here's the image I'd like to alter, making a white border around the outline of all five figures:
I researched for quite a while but could find no instructions. It would be very much appreciated if someone knows and would be kind enough to share the technique! Thank you.

If you make the image a layer (opposed to Background)...
You could Select the blue with the Magic Wand as Semaphoric says, then fill with white.  Then choose Select - Modify Selection - Contract, and mask or delete the remaining pixels.  The Contract operation will give you a nice border the size you choose.
For extra credit, you could use Refine Edge to make the selection more accurate.
Click to see the image  against a dark background.
