Adding Image to Header - Pages 5.0

Hi, I need to add an image to the header in Pages 5.0 (newly updated!)
and can't seem to do it!!!!
How do I do this, is it even possible? I have tried to Copy Paste, no use.
Any help is appreciated, the new version of Pages is quite frankly, annoying as ****.
Thanks!

Pages 5 has over 90 other features removed:

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Export your Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx and trash/archive Pages 5.
Then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

  • Adding images screws up page layout

    How do I add an image to my page and not have it ruin the original layout? Thanks

    I think there are mainly two possibilities for your design:
    1. Add the image in Photoshop and re-import the page in GoLive.
    2. Recreate the layout with all images and buttons in GoLive (which does not take much time because GoLive is a good assistant.). You are then much more flexible in finetuning the layout or in adding new components (images, buttons, etc.) to your design. In GoLive CS2 the layout will preferably be created using CSS instead of nested tables resulting in a quite small source code.
    As you might imagine, I prefer option 2 for your design.

  • Adding images to a Pages document

    I've tried a few different things to add images to a pages document. I can get them in the document, but when I save as Word Doc. and open in Word on a PC, all images are gone. What's the best way to import images and make sure they're there regardless of the file type or platform they're going to be opened in?

    I have no trouble exporting Page's documents to Word that contain jpg, png, eps, or objects inserted by Pages itself. I don't recall trying pdf files. Graphics placed inline or floating both work. I've dragged pictures from the desktop, copy pasted, used the Insert>Choose command and even dragged them from one application to another with success. Now the Word document didn't always have the same formatting as the Pages document, but the pictures were there.
    It would be useful to know what type of graphic image(s) you've inserted.

  • Adding image to page results in permissions error, etc. when publishing in CS4

    I manage dozens of sites on the same server, all managed with Contribute CS4. One such site had to be rebuilt. But now, when I add an image to a page from my computer and try to publish, it gives the following error:
    Access denied. The file may not exist or there may be a permission problem.
    Then, once the page returns to editing mode (since I didn't successfully Publish), the image I tried to add shows up in the Drafts Console (top left) as a separate document. When I click on it in the Drafts Console, it says:
    Editing Draft in Another Application.
    Strangely enough, the images are being successfully saved to the server, to an /images folder that has permission set to 777.
    Still, though, Contribute won't let me add images, even directly from the server ("from website").
    Does anyone have any idea what's happening? I've rebuilt the site several time, even using the original files (which worked well for years).
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Note that when the images appear in the Drafts Console, and I click on them in order to delete them, Contribute asks me:
    Are you sure you want to permanently delete your new page?
    Why would it be calling an image a "page?"
    And further, it says:
    You are currently editing this page in .
    I'm assuming that space before the period is where it would normally list the application used for editing. Something's definitely off here.
    And it's not just my version of Contribute. Another editor (on another computer on another network) is also experiencing the same errors.

  • Adding images into a pdf as pages

    I need to add images into a pdf but want to do it in a way that when I add them, it will resize the image to the page size.  The images are large format when inserted.  Anyone know what to change in the settings to automatically resize the images at insertion?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The Professional version of Acrobat (8.x & 9.x) provides the means of creating a "blank page".
    In either, opening the Acrobat Help and clicking on "Search" lets you enter the string:
    "blank page".
    In both (8 & 9) the first (top) return is "Create a PDF from a blank page".
    From the menu (for both releases) -
    File > Create PDF > From Blank Page
    will result in a blank PDF being created by Acrobat.
    From Acrobat Preferences (discussed in the installed Help and in the online LiveDocs Help - a help system that reflects ongoing updating) you can provide some configure control for the blank page.
    Edit > Preferences > select Category "New Document".
    Alternatively, you could set up a desired page size in an authoring application and output a "blank" PDF for use.
    Placing an image –
    One way to do this.
    With the PDF open, open the Advanced Editing menu and select the TouchUp Object Tool
    or use Tools > Advanced Editing > TouchUp Object Tool
    With the TouchUp Object Tool selected & mouse cursor in the PDF page, right click for the context menu.
    Select Place Image (Shift+G in windows while context menu is present can also be used).
    In the Browse dialog, locate and select the desired image.
    Once the image has been placed to the PDF page it (the image) will have black "grab" squares at each corner.
    Use these to size the image. With mouse cursor in the image the up-down-left-right cursor icon appears.
    Use this to position the image.
    Button Tool –
    AA8Pro:
    Tools > Forms > Button Tool
    Also, on the Forms Toolbar
    AA9Pro:
    Tools > Advanced Editing > Buttons
    Also, on the Advanced Editing Toolbar
    Over the years the depth and breadth of features available with Acrobat (Pro & Pro Extended in particular) have
    grown dramatically. All the discrete topics are in Acrobat Help, arranged in a pretty logical hierarchy.
    Unfortunately, as you allude to, locating the individual topics and establishing a practicable understanding of how
    disparate topics come together to support specific tasks can be a challenge.
    Fortunately, this affords forum participants the opportunity to share the "how-to" understanding they've acquired.
    (by study/application, inadvertent stumbling across it, or learning from someone else's post )
    Be well...

  • Changing the body image on each page with CSS

    Hi,
    I need to have a different background image for each page of this site (body)
    1) I have one template currently
    2) I have one css file currently (linked)
    I've done a lot of research as to how best to do this including;
    a) Using different body id's for each page
    b) Using another css rule for body (inserted into th file AFTER the main linked ccs file)
    Because I am using templates I can't see an easy way to do this (Header is largely locked) and have little control over position of b) and the same for a) as the body tag is also locked. I have also looked at "specify editable tag attibutes in a template" but couldn't get this to work.
    There is something simple to do here but I cannot see it.
    Any sample / advice would be appreciated.
    Rick

    John and DWILCOX01,
    OK I tried it - it seems to be working ok although I have to test a few things.
    However the one thing I did was remove the body style from the linked CSS file as the linked file is BELOW the new body style...
    Although am I correct in assuming that if the new body style you suggested is added AFTER the linked CSS file then I don't have to worry?
    Thansk,
    R

  • Unable to display a PDF image on the page - Mac 10.6

    Hi,
    Running an iMac with 10.6.8 and Indesign 5.0.4. Just wanting to export a PDF as per usual via File > Export function. However, I keep getting the error message, "Unable to display a PDF image on the page'. No idea what this is and have never seen this error before. The only info on the internet reveals error code 0x2511(9489).
    I've deleted prefs, closed down and re-opened Indesign and even restarted the computer. I've also re-linked the images contained in the document and even created a new document and set it up the same, but still the same problem. Investigating further, other Indesign documents still export properly.
    The only ones that don't export are 2 documents, both giving this same error message. Both documents are ones where a client has sent a PDF, I've imported into two of these into an 2-page A4 Indesign document (each PDF is 48MB each) and then just added a text layer (using Times) which is properly installed on the computer. I basically have to 'update' course dates for the client and add PDF to the website, all very basic.
    I've tried importing a jpeg and other PDFs into the file (replacing the existing ones) and they export fine.
    All my software is legal and I've exported this document before now in exactly the same File > Export without any problems (under 10.5 and 10.6).
    OK... I've just imported the offending PDFs into Acrobat, optimized and shrunk the file size, re-imported back to Indesign and the PDF export works fine. So it seems InDesign / PDF Export doesn't like large imported PDFs? I think they were originally exported from Publisher, so maybe that's the problem or a file conflict somehow.
    Any ideas on the culprit? I've googled it, searched these forums and Apple discussions and haven't found anything. Although I've found a workaround, I do get large files to import and then export. Thanks for any help
    Steve

    It does sound like a problem with the original PDF files the client sent you. You can check how they were made in Acrobat Pro from the Additional MetaData button on the Description tab of the document properties dialog. It will be under Advanced at the bottom of the list when the metadata opens.
    You might be able to salvage them by running the optimzer and not changing the size, or just doing a Save As in Acrobat.

  • CSS problems in CS4 with multiple images on a page...

    I seem to have a ton of questions going in this forum, sorry if it's painful.
    Here's my latest issue.(DW CS4)
    I created a blank html page and linked a CSS file to it. I dropped a bunch of images into the body and wrapped them in a div with an id of "thumbnails"
    I clicked on my img tag right below the Design window and clicked the "new css rule" button in the CSS Styles window and gave my images a margin of 40 px.  I clicked "OK" and my changes took effect in the Design window, but when I previewed it in the browser (Firefox and IE) none of the CSS was taking effect, all the images were still crammed together. Same thing for the "Live View" Button, I'm not sure what happened, or why the CSS won't take effect.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks all,
    Aza

  • Two images on a page, want to number each image.  How?

    Page layout with two images on a page, other pages have one image.  I want to have a number associated with each image.  I tried page numbering to no avail.  How do I have a sequence number for each image?
    I further complicate this; I will make many documents, each document will have about five pages, as I progress, I want the photo numbers to function likek page numbers, across all the documents.
    How do I accomplish this?
    Rob

    Thank you, I am closer to the solution after following your instructions. On the Master pages (Two page spread), I made a text frame adjacent to each of two frames for the images (There will be two images on each document page, thus two frames on each Master Page).  They are threaded together and I verified this by View > Show Text Threads.
    Since I am not getting the right result, I must have done something wrong.  I made numbered List using Paragrach Styles.  I could not find "text attribubutes" so I am probably not doing this right.  Please note that I have spent 7 hours on this so far, so I am making an effort.
    It seems reasonable that this should be done on a Master layout, is this right?  So far, the text frame number flow from 1 to 4 across the the Master Page spread.  Thus the first two pages are correct.  However, when page is added based on the Master it repeats the same flow: 1 though 4.  I expect this because that's what the Master shows,  However, I want the numbers to continue as I add photos to additional pages.
    Thank you for any additional information you are willing to provide.

  • Images on a page cause the High-Contrast mode to fail

    I have created some very simple two page PDF files, with both Microsoft Word 2013 (using the Acrobat Pro XI PDF Maker) and Adobe InDesign CS6.
    When viewing the PDF I set a high contrast colour scheme by going to Edit/Preferences/Accessibility and selecting to "Replace Document Colors" and choosing a high contrast color scheme (such as "Green text on black").
    Without an image in the document everything works fine.
    However as soon as I place an image on the page, then all I get is a completely black page. The second page without the image displays as expected.
    Does ayone know of a workaround for this problem?

    The page definately has text on it.
    In Word the page consistes of a Heading 1, followed by a few lines of text in a single paragraph. This is repeated on the second page. This works fine without an image, but as soon as a small image (about 200px square) is placed in-line with the text it displays as just a black page when the high contrast scheme is selected. If the background colour is change to something other than black it is as though there is a large rectangle over the entire page, and the underlying text can be seen underneath if it is a lighter colour, but is obscured if black.
    Further experimentation seems to indicate that if the image is a JPG image then it works fine, but if the image is a GIF or a PNG image then I get the black page. I was not aware that there was a limitation that prevented these two types of image being used?

  • Adding images and buttons without a frame appearing

    I would like to add images to some of my pages without having them appear in a frame. I would like to place some transparent gifs on the page to use as buttons for hyperlinks. I would also like to have some photos (with transparent backgrounds that appear on the page and are not surrounded by a picture frame. Any Suggestions

    iWeb seems to default to stroking newly-added images and shapes. Pages (iWeb's close relation) includes a way to change the default appearance, but I can't find anything similar in iWeb. You can, of course, remove the stroke using the Graphic Inspector (just set Stroke to None). Transparency in gifs and photo images is supported. Just drag into iWeb or use Insert > Choose... Again, remove the stroke if this appears.

    CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_sortable.        "This column is not sortable
          rv_value = 'false'.                                   "#EC NOTEXT
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_disable_filter.  "Disable filter
          rv_value = 'true'.                                    "#EC NOTEXT
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
    * -> field type: client click
          rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_link.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_onclick.
    * -> onClick
    ** Get the path name
    rv_value   = "'http://www.google.com'.
      ENDCASE.

  • Background layer seizes added images.

    I am trying to create a photo collage by scratch (not using "Collage"). First I create a new blank page for the background and save it. It is shown as "locked" with a padlock. Then I open an image file (.jpg) to add to the background layer, and I get a message that I need to unlock the background layer so I click to unlock it. However the added image locks onto the background layer and doesn't make a new layer. If I open another image file it locks on top of the others.

    The Layers panel only shows the layer(s) belonging to the currently active file. You need to arrange your image windows so that you can see your composite image as well as the source. With the source image active the Layers panel will show the source - click and drag that layer to the composite.
    So in the following, the violet image is the active image and I drag its layer to the white image I've created for my collage. In the composite image with the new layer selected I can position it where I want. Select each of the other images in turn and do the same. Refer to my previous note, you can also do this with Copy & Paste.
    When finished, your composite image and its Layers panel will look like this:
