Hey everyone I need some help with images in CR-XI.
I have a db of Items that I sell in my store with all of the specs listed and I want to link the pictures of each item into my report.  I cant seem to get the picture to show up in the report.  All I get is the OLE box and the file name of the image.  The actuall picture does not show up.
Thanks
Mark

Thanks for the quick response SKodidine.
I actually figured out the problem I was having.  I was using jpeg images and after reading a few notes I tried using bitmap images and now all of my images show up.  BUT!
I still have a problem.  For some reason all of my images show up in the report very small and pixilated.  When I try to expand the image they look horrible.  Also, the image file names and file type extensions show up beneath the image.  here is a screenshot of it.

    ThanksHi,
You can do it using Custom Messages in OBIEE. Read through the following link to undestand and learn how you can acheive it.

Here is a good example for quick reference:

  • How to insert a conditional image into a report

    Hi
I am fairly new to HTML DB, but I have managed to create my first application.
I need a little help with one report.
One of the columns in the report contains Y, N or R. The customer wants me to display a different coloured image depending on the value (ie a red button for N, green for Y or amber for R).
I have can add a static image to a report via "Column Formatting" -> "HTML Expression", but I have no idea how to make it conditional.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Great, that works!!!!
    Thanks very much.
For completeness (incase anyone else reads this), there was one typo, in your solution, you omitted the opening '<' in the image source HTML tag
    select loanno, itemid,
    decode (returned, 'N', '<img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#bullet_red.gif" border="0" alt="Loaned">',
    'Y', '<img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#bullet_green.gif" border="0" alt="In Library">',
    'R', '<img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#bullet_orange.gif" border="0" alt="Returned">'
    ) as status
    from loans
    Thanks for your help,...

I need to add images into a pdf but want to do it in a way that when I add them, it will resize the image to the page size.  The images are large format when inserted.  Anyone know what to change in the settings to automatically resize the images at insertion?

    Hi,
The Professional version of Acrobat (8.x & 9.x) provides the means of creating a "blank page".
In either, opening the Acrobat Help and clicking on "Search" lets you enter the string:
    "blank page".
In both (8 & 9) the first (top) return is "Create a PDF from a blank page".
From the menu (for both releases) -
File > Create PDF > From Blank Page
will result in a blank PDF being created by Acrobat.
From Acrobat Preferences (discussed in the installed Help and in the online LiveDocs Help - a help system that reflects ongoing updating) you can provide some configure control for the blank page.
Edit > Preferences > select Category "New Document".
Alternatively, you could set up a desired page size in an authoring application and output a "blank" PDF for use.
    Placing an image –
    One way to do this.
With the PDF open, open the Advanced Editing menu and select the TouchUp Object Tool
or use Tools > Advanced Editing > TouchUp Object Tool
With the TouchUp Object Tool selected & mouse cursor in the PDF page, right click for the context menu.
Select Place Image (Shift+G in windows while context menu is present can also be used).
In the Browse dialog, locate and select the desired image.
Once the image has been placed to the PDF page it (the image) will have black "grab" squares at each corner.
Use these to size the image. With mouse cursor in the image the up-down-left-right cursor icon appears.
Use this to position the image.
    Button Tool –
    AA8Pro:
Tools > Forms > Button Tool
    Also, on the Forms Toolbar
    AA9Pro:
Tools > Advanced Editing > Buttons
Also, on the Advanced Editing Toolbar
Over the years the depth and breadth of features available with Acrobat (Pro & Pro Extended in particular) have
grown dramatically. All the discrete topics are in Acrobat Help, arranged in a pretty logical hierarchy.
Unfortunately, as you allude to, locating the individual topics and establishing a practicable understanding of how
disparate topics come together to support specific tasks can be a challenge.
Fortunately, this affords forum participants the opportunity to share the "how-to" understanding they've acquired.
(by study/application, inadvertent stumbling across it, or learning from someone else's post )
    Be well...

  • Adding a dynamic weblink that pulls an image into a report

I am trying to create a report that pulls an image from a Sharepoint site (http) based a field value that is also in the report. It is an image of a product that shows based on the product number/unique ID.
I have the dynamic link working within a weblink in the record detail, but now I'd like to pull the image to show within a report. I am not a technical person, so not really sure even where to start. Any assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks!

It's an HTML code - you may want to check up with your web development team.
If you need to put an image on an HTML page you put the HTML code <img src="angry.gif" alt="Angry face" />where angry.gif is the file name of the image on your web server and alt is the name you want to show in the background if someone is accessing this image from a place with poor network connection - as you know to download an image it takes more time than showing up text.

  • Importing an image into oracle report

    hi all,
I have created an oracle report which has to incorporate an image in it. I have created a link file and gave the image path in the property inspector. It was working fine. but my manager wants me to import the bmp file to the report. Can anybody help me how to do that.
    Thanks in advance,

    I have solved it myself.
    To import an image:
In the Paper Layout view, choose InsertImage and click the type of object you want to import.
In the dialog box, specify the name and format of the file. Click OK.
Move the object to the desired position.

    Hi Sreeni,
The images are stored with employee ids reference like 1234.jpg in the image location path, so will it be possible to call those images into the report with no relation at database level.
as you said in above mail even if if we cld try  to store the images in oracle database with format like CLOB format the rpd will not support the datatype to bring to that report level.
Please let me know if you have any solution
    Thanks in Advance

  • Inserting images in Crystal Reports

    Hello,
I have two questions regarding the use of pictures in a Crystal report :
    1. Is there a maximum dpi resolution limit for pictures to be inserted in a Crystal Reports.
    2. Is there a way to control the PDF output picture quality ? When exporting to PDF, the quality of the picture is reduced.
    Thank you
    Anthony

I have the following questions about inserting images into Crystal Reports:
    1.  Can the images be positioned horizontally?
    2. When there is more that one image attached to a database record, can the number of images be limited in the report?
(For example, limit the number of images for each record to two.)
    3. If there is more than one page to a record, how can the image for the record be suppressed on all pages subsequent to the first page of the report?
    4.  If there is no image attached to the database record, how the space reserved for the image closed up?
    Thank you.

  • Images into wad

    Hi Everyone,
any body tell me how I insert images into a report wad? I need to see images of materials in a list that displays a top ten of materials.
    Thanks in advance

Edited by: Toto' Massimiliano on Jan 17, 2008 11:14 AM

you will not see the materials which are on the report rather you can choose to see images that you have coded in. In order to see the same - you will have to customize your report using Javascript.

  • Need help with adding formatted text and images to Crystal Report?

    Here's my scenario:
I have a customer statement that's generated as a crystal report and that has a placeholder for advertisement. The advertisement is mixture of formatted text and images. Until now we only had one advertisement that was always used on the report. The new requirement is that we would have a pool of hundreds of advertisements and would need to display one specific advertisement on the customer statement based on various marketing criteria. They key is that the advertisement content will be determined programmatically and cannot be hardcoded into the report. I'm using Crystal2008 with .net SDK.
Here are the solutions I thought of, but I'm still rather lost and would appreciate your help/opinion.
    1) Pass HTML or RTF to the report
Not really sure if this is possible and how to get it done. Also how would I pass in images? Would display formatting be reliable when exporting to PDF?
    2) Create each add as a subreport and append it programatically
I actually have this working, but I only know how to append a new section to the end of the report and then load the subreport to the section. I have no other controll of the placement. Is there a way to dynamically load a subreport to a predefined section in the main report? How about adding a dummy subreport in the main report as a placeholder and then replacing it with a different subreport? How could I do this?
    3) Pass an Image to the report
I would create each advertisement as an image and then would somehow add the image to the report. How would I load the image and control the placement? Could I somehow define a placeholder for the image in the main report-maybe a dummy image to be replaced?
    Thank you.

    Hello Pavel,
I would got the third way.
You can use dynamic images in your report.
Just by changing the URL to the image the image can be changed.
Please see the [Crystal Manual|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/cr2008/en/xir3_cr_usergde_en.pdf] and search for images.
    or directly here

  • Converting a binary string into a JPEG image in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi Gang
Iu2019m having problems converting a binary string into an image in Crystal Reports 2008
I have JPEG images stored in ECC.  ECC stores the data in binary format.
Iu2019m using the ECC function module SKWF_PHIO_CONTENT_ACCESS_GET to retrieve the data.  This function module has an export table, FILE_CONTENT_BINARY, which returns several lines of data.  Each line contains a maximum of 1,024 characters.
When I drop the T_ FILE_CONTENT_BINARY.LINE field into my Crystal Report detail section, I wind up with a report that displays all the lines in FILE_CONTENT_BINARY table.  (in my case, 19 lines are displayed.)
I created a formula to collect all the data into a single string.
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar data:= data & {SKWF_PHIO_CONTENT_ACCESS_GET.T_FILE_CONTENT_BINARY.LINE}
I added the formula to the detail section and itu2019s doing a great job collecting the data.
I then inserted a picture object in the report footer, opened the format editor, navigated to the u201Cpictureu201D tab, and inserted a formula for the u201Cgraphics locationu201D.
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar data:=data;
    data
My clever idea turned out to be a disappointment . . . . my picture object is blank.
Does anyone have a solution for converting a binary string into a JPEG image?

Save the JPEG in a format CR supports. Refer to the help file for the file types.

  • Inserting an image into a Word Table with the Report Generation Toolkit.

I was wondering if it was possibe to use the Report Generation Toolkit to place an image into the cell of a table in a Word document?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
Yes, you can do this by using the Word Edit Cell VI under Report Generation>>Word Specific>>Word Tables in your block diagram functions pallette.  After creating a table, you can edit specific cells and send the file path of the image saved on your computer to that specific cell.  I put together an example that I've attached here as well to help you out with this.
