Adding Java Bean to alot of Forms?
What is the easiest/best way to add a Java Bean or PJC to alot of forms?
I have tried with the following tool:
http://forms.pjc.bean.over-blog.com/article-13596554.html
I have created a jdapi_test.olb file in the Forms builder, add a tab named BEAN, then drag into it a block that contains a Bean Area (CTRL.BEAN), then save the object library.
Here is what I put in the xml file:
<!-- -------------------------------------- -->
<!-- properties for single specified module -->
<!-- -------------------------------------- -->
<single_modules>
<module>
<name>D:/Projets/Atena/Forms/DnD/DND2.fmb</name>
<compile>true</compile>
<!-- olb subclassing -->
<subclass_olb>
<lib_name>D:\Projets\Atena\Forms\jdapiutil\jdapi_test.olb</lib_name>
<tab_name>BEAN</tab_name>
<object_num>1</object_num>
<target_name>CTRL_BEAN</target_name>
</subclass_olb>
</module>
</single_modules>
...And it worked fine. I could find the new CTRL_BEAN block with its Bean Area in my module.

Getting Java Beans working with Developer Forms 6i
Hello everyone,
I have been trying to get Java Beans to work with the Developer Forms 6i. I keep getting diffrent errors depending on the bean I play with. I will detail the problems and the computer setup. I am sure this problem is a configuration one, I just dont seem to have enough experiance to determine the issue or the configuration problem.
Here are the problems I am encountering:
Problems 1:
--JDeveloper 10g
I cant see the VBean class. When I add this code, the VBean decleration comes up with an error.
import oracle.forms.ui.VBean;
public class MyNewClass extends VBean
public Class1()
This code shows the IMPORT statement with a wavy blue line under it and the word VBean after the extends also has on. I understand that this means that the JDeveloper cant find the class, I just cant seem to find the correct environment variable to set to point to this.
Second Problem:
--Forms 6i
I open forms, and create a new form. I then add a datablock and a canvas. I open the canvas and drop the BeanArea component on the canvas. I enter the fully pathed/qualified Bean in the Implementation Class and get one of three errors. Either a FRM-13008, a FRM-99999 with a 13009 or a 13010 error. I suspect that the 13008 error is because the bean I created does not have the correct decleration types or IView interface calls. My problem is that when I load any of the Oracle provided beans I get the 13009 or 13010 errors. I have looked here and in Metalinks for some kind of solution that I haven't already tryed, but to no avail.
Any advice on either of these problems would be appreciated. Please keep in mind that we cant upgrade to version 9 or 10 yet (silly aif force and their regulations), so those type of solutions arn't usable to me.
Here is the configuration information that I know about. If there is more information that can be provided or I need to provide more information, please let me know and I will get what I can.
Thanks,
Bill Hunsicker

CLASSPATH = C:\orant\FORMS60\java;C:\orant\TOOLS\COMMON60\JAVA\IMPORTER.JAR;C:\orant\forms60\java\P3load.jar;C:\orant\forms60\java\f60all.jarOk, I added the f60all.jar to the project. This allowed me to create the file using the VBean. I created the JAR file and copied it to the forms60/java directory. I also copied the new .class files to the forms60/java/mil/af/rs/leads direcory.
I then edited my formsweb.cfg file and had to add the jinit_archive tag. I set it = f60all.jar, P3load.jar. I also added my P3load.jar file to the default archive tag.
When I open up Forms, drop the bean area component on the canvas, and set the Implementation Class, I still get an error (13008), and when I run the form in web, and click the button to invoke the bean I get no response from the bean.
here is the code to invoke the bean. in_filename is a text component on the canvas and contained in the CTRL block. The bean area is named BEAN (because the demo was that way).
:in_filename := get_custom_property('BEAN',1,'getFileName');
synchronize;
Not sure where to go from here, but thanks for the help so far. -
How to embed excel in java bean area on oracle forms 9i?
Hi,
I am trying to embed excel in oracle forms 9i using java bean. I want to open excel sheet in the bean area not as seprate application. Means i donot want to excel running separately from forms on the machine.
If any body knows the solution please reply.
Best regrads,
ShirazHi
Is it possible to create a java bean, with a click event which populates data from database table to an excel sheet.
The data(can be obtained in a string format with delimiters, but can anyone help me in exporting this into an excel sheet). and also to provide user to take prints of the data in the excel sheet.
If Print of the JTable could be done(by settin printable as this), but this involves unwanted buttons to be printed, and entire table is not available in the spread sheet format.
Thanks in Advance

Query on Java Bean Usage in R12 Forms
Hi,
I have a scenario,
There is a Java bean which has been working on Oracle 11i Forms for quite a while now.The bean is used to display two text fields which are populated on selecting a file using the Browse button on the right hand side.
We have recently migrated this form to R12 and from then, the textfields dissappered.
I have tried multiple ways, tried changing the background and foreground for the canvas, bean, fields.. I compiled the Bean using Java 1.5, so as to make it compatible to R12, but have not been able to make the fields visible.
Anyone who could give me more insight in this regard would be of great help!!!
Regards,
Prathima.Following is the whole log :
MSBeanArea is the name of my Java Bean.
I have put some messages in my Java class in order to check if there is any where it is failing, but as you can see, there is no error raised :(

I have a form in drop down that I built in BC than took the HTML code to Dreamweaver in order to place the form in to a two column table. I was told by the BC support that a JS that required the fields to filled in is required. Not sure how to do that, please help.
That is what I thought. But i figured out what I did wrong. I used a custom field for First and Last Name rather than the BC Field. Once that was replaced it worked great. Thanks Liam.

Java Bean does not display in Forms 9i
Hi,
I created a Java bean taht would not display in a Forms 9i application. I do not get any error messages, just nothing seem to happen. I did the following:
1. Created a Java Bean with az Init() public function, packed it into a jar file and put it into <9iASHome>\forms90\java
2. Added the jar file to the formsweb.cfg file's archive_jini.
3. Created a Form with a Java Bean item on a canvas.
4. Set the implementation property of the bean item to the full java 'direcotry' path of the class.
5. Created the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger and put this code into it:
fbean.register_bean('BLOCK3.BEAN_AREA4',1,'geoifsweb.ifsframe');
After deploying the form to 9iAS and running it nothing seems to happen, only the place of the Java Bean appears on the Form. Teh Java Bean class extend a JFrame class, so I would expect it to appear on the screen.
What am I missing? Thank you for any help or hint in advance.
Regards,
Tamas SzecsyTamas
When using fbean.register_bean you don't need to set the implementation class of the bean at design time.
You must however supply the full package and class name in the register_bean call.
Do you get any exceptions in the Java console?
I'd also switch logging on (see FBEAN.Set_Logging_Mode) -
How to include PJC and Java Beans in forms
I have tried a lot to include java codes in my forms ..So I decide to start with ProgressBarPJC(cause it is tested and provided with demo) but I could not set implementation class of java bean object to
oracle.forms.demos.ProgressBarPJC it does not accept it but it accept ProgressBar instead of ProgressBarPJC. I don't know why? I have made changes in Forms90_builder_classpath to access f90all.jar and progressbar.jar. I have Progressbar.class and progressbarpjc.classs both but i don't know how to set implementation class to ProgressBarPJC.
don't you think there is lots of configuration and path setting to use any JPC or Jar in forms? I am totally confused with this integration.
Please solve this matter
Thanking you,

Pass array of value to Oracle Java Beans (for forms)
Hi,
How I can pass a array value from oracle Form to Java bean.
With regards
Satheesh KumarHi,
Thanks for your immediate response.
I have one more doubt. I am trying to create a Hirachical tree for form using Jtree. For dynmically populating tree data I want to pass array records from oracle forms.
In my understanding, Java importer array will work if we do importing the java beans component to oracle forms, otherwise no.
Is it possible I can pass array variable with out importing my javacomponent.

Displaying a JCombo Box in a Java bean with Forms9i
I am including a java bean in my 9i form which uses some swing component such as combo box. The problem is that when I show the popup menu of the combo box, I cannot see the list items available in the box. Is that of L&F problem or is it a Form rendering problem
Hi,
This sounds like a Swing issue that can be cause by the Forms ewt classes.

Bhatt.Advantage of java beans is you can enhance the behavior of forms. Forms is as you know applet based running on the client. (There is a different technology associated with inserting your own java code into the loop on the application server, should you want to do that.) So with beans in theory you can get more code to run on the client and do things like read and write files on the client, communicate with devices on the client, etc.
Regarding doing that I think the executive summary is mostly look up Fbean in forms builder help.
How I came to that tentative conclusion (I haven't gotten mybean to work yet! What do I know?) follows.
Home of much forms info:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/overview/index.html
Java beans are java obviously one has to acquire a certain level of expertise in java to deal with them but more importantly how to understand how to communicate between forms and the bean? It's hard for formists, living their lives at the outside of forms, who come up with an idea of something exceptional they want to do in forms, to translate that into the bean world. Then you have to think like a form and that's unknown territory.
One problem is terminology: what is a PJC and what is a bean? Is a bean a PJC? I have yet to definitely figure that out. The paper below says: "A javabean is a pjc which is of an unspecialized type". However after that was written seems like in many cases when people are referring to "pjc"'s they are thinking the pjc is a specialized type.
"Oracle9i Forms provides two mechanisms for extending the client with Java. The
Pluggable Java Component (PJC) mechanism, which was introduced with Forms
6i, and the newer Oracle9i Forms specific, enhanced JavaBean support
mechanism." (paper 2 below).
I was reading this document from 2000 which is interesting:
Paper 1:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/269054-130573.pdf
It's talking about handlers and views and it's quickly getting over my head as I don't know enough forms internals to make much of this. For example I would like to write a bean that can print a small form. I have a proof of concept in java (6) that can print text to the default printer. So next step, create a bean that can get the data out of the form. From my formist perspective here I am in a bean how do I access some fields in a record in a block in forms? It's tough going. What does that mean in this handler/view world? Or do I have to be in the form and think of sending data to the bean and telling it to print it?
Paper 2:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/269054-130573.pdf
Starts out with more on the handler/view thing. Unfortunately I am totally mvc or handler-view impaired. It escapes me totally.
"The Handler class is responsible for both maintaining the current value of any data and controlling the visual representation of the data."....vs.... "The View class is singularly responsible for presenting the data to the user in some
manner and handling user input. The View class may allow the data to be changed
by the user.". What? I am lost I have no idea what the handler does and what the view does. How about a discussion that is strictly goal oriented? If you want to do this, you have to talk to the (Handler| View)? Don't leave it to me to understand the handler/view thing and then figure it out from that. (This mvc thing is precisely what repels me about jdeveloper. You can't embrace jdev if you haven't drunk the mvc koolaid.)
Further on in the paper they bring up fbean:
"So in Oracle9i Forms a new simpler mechanism was introduced to allow you to integrate JavaBeans and Java
Applets as custom components without writing any Java Code at all. This is all handled using a PL/SQL package in Forms called FBean.
"FBean provides a full PL/SQL API to allow interaction with any public methods,
properties and events that a JavaBean or Applet exposes."
Now you're talking! This is more like it!:
"Executing Methods
Methods on the JavaBean are executed using one of the variety of
FBean.Invoke methods. Like the property getters and setters there are various
versions of this method which handle calling methods on the JavaBean that return
different datatypes (or return void):
• FBean.Invoke_Char()
• FBean.Invoke_Bool()
• FBean.Invoke_Num()
• FBean.Invoke()
Ok now that we know about the fbean thing we can find fbean in the forms builder help system. Looking good. I am pretty sure that somewhere in there you have to get your bean in a jar file and sign it (not a trivial proposition) and
change the forms server configuration to include your jar file. I also think that the bean has to import frmall.jar and some of the packages regarding that view stuff. A tutorial about fbean and all these details from start to finish would be super!
So you can talk to another applet? Really? Can this still be done considering all the security concerns in current browsers? -
How to use BEAN in an oracle forms at client side
Hello,
I am new in oracle forms.I am using
OS-Windows 7.
Forms [32 Bit] Version 11.1.2.1.0 (Production)
weblogic 10.3.5
Now I want know that how to use bean item in an oracle forms.
Thank You.Hello,
You copy the corresponding JAR file that contains the Java BEan in your <DEVSUITE_HOME>/forms/java folder, then you add its name to the archive tags of the forsweb.cfg file.
This done, you add a Bean Area to your canvas, set its Implementation Class property with the full class name, then you can communicate with the bean via the GET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY() and SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY() built-in.
Google could also give you more information.

Has anyone experimented/used Java beans in their Web Forms apps.
Where can we find suitable components and examples of their use.
I am particularly interested in Tree List type beans.

but i want to if i pressed start button the time start and stop it automaticlly in one minute..
i have done lot of technique but i failed please help meHello,
-- When-Button-Pressed trigger --
set_custom_property( 'BLOC.BEAN_ITEM', 1, 'initTimer', '60000');
set_custom_property( 'BLOCK.BEAN', 1, 'Start', '');-- When-Custom-Item-Event trigger (:block.bean) --
set_custom_property( 'BLOCK.BEAN', 1, 'Stop', '');But honestly, for a timer that fires every one minute, you do not need any Java Bean. Use the Forms internal timer ;-)
