Adding Lightroom to new Laptop

I currently have Lightroom on 2 computers. One is an old Laptop which I want to retire. How do I get Lightroom transferred to the new laptop

If this is a serial-number activated LR just install on the new one and uninstall on the old one.  There isn’t a formal activation count, or at least hasn’t been with the serial-number LR, so that is all you have to do.
If it is a CC-licensed LR+PS bundle, then when you install on the third computer, it’ll ask you to activate the other two, which you can do, then only ever log into one of the old ones, again.  CC does keep track but makes it easy to transition to a new set of two computers without having to call Adobe.

  • How do I set up lightroom on new laptop with SSD?

I just got a new Asus ROG Laptop with a SSD. I need help setting up lightroom. Should I keep my lightroom catalog on the C drive or move it to the D with all my Docs and Images?

Your catalog goes best on the SSD (or whatever your fastest drive is).
Your photos can go on your slowest drive.

  • Connect lightroom on new laptop to images on old desktop

I've been using lightroom for awhile on a desktop pc.  I now have a new faster laptop that I've installed lightroom on.  I want to leave the images on the desktop and use it as a server.  How do I connect the laptop to the images on the desktop?  Using Lightroom 4 on both pcs.

    1. Network-share your images on the PC.
    2. Copy the catalog to laptop.
    3. Open catalog on laptop and point the topmost folder to the new network
    location.

I want to setup LR on my new laptop.  I have the serial number from my latest purchase but not the original purchase of LR3.  How can I recover the serial number from my original LR purchase?

If you did register it back then, open your Adobe account with your Adobe ID and you will find it there: Find your serial number quickly
If you still have it installed, open the System info in Help menu or look here:

  • How do I download Lightroom on a new laptop?

I had gotten Lightroom as a birthday present a couple of years ago. The computer that I had it on crashed and I'm wondering if there is a way to download it on my new laptop. I do not have the serial number and didn't think to register it. My old laptop is not useable so all of my data is lost. I tried talking to a support team person, they said they were going to send a link and then told me that the link for Lightroom 4 is not available. Is there any way to get Lightroom on my new laptop without having to rebuy it?

If you have no proof of purchase and no record for the serial number then there is not much you can expect.
Here is a link to a page with downloads for most versions, though they are likely not going to be much use to you with the serial number.

The only thing that matters is a valid serial number.
If you don't have one, contact Adobe.

  • I have lightroom 5 on my desktop, I have downloaded it on my new laptop, but I do no have the registration code from my update.  My last one is from lightroom4, how do i get the registration code?

I own lightroom 5 on my desktop, I have downloaded it on my new laptop, but I do not have the registration code from my update.  The code is from lightroom4.  How do it get the number so I can register it on my laptop?

If you own Lightroom 5, you received a serial number for it, that is what you want to use.
If you don't have it any more (not a good idea, by the way), you should be able to find it via: Find your serial number quickly

  • Do I need to tell Lightroom to use the Graphics Card in my new laptop?

    HI!
I have a new laptop and have successfully transferred my pics, catalogue and LR settings across.
It has better specs than my last one, including a decent (I think!) dedicated graphics card.  I have always had integrated graphics before so am not sure how this works.  Do I need to tell applications, such as Lightroom, to use the graphics card, or will this be automatically be done by the software/operating system?  If I do need to do anything, is this in each software (like Lightroom), the computer settings, or in some third party control software?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for that.  That seems a shame, although hopefully the increased CPU will help it run more smoothly anyway.
Do you know off hand whether I would need to do anything for other programs with regards to the graphics card or is everything automated?
    thanks again

  • Need to get my lightroom account back onto a new laptop

Hi there, I recently got a new laptop and want to continue with on the lightroom account that I was active on, on my previous laptop. I downloaded lightroom software on the new laptop but now get a prompt "30 day trial or serial number".
I pay monthly subscription fee and do not want a trail and I cannot find a serial number on my adobe account.
Can someone please help me to get back into the lightroom that is registered on my account. I emailed support 2 weeks ago but now help on this matter was provided so I am desperate.
I read sometime ago that I should not lose all my previous edited work when switching laptops.
    Many thanks in advance
    Stephane van Eck

    Hi there,
Only one computer is showing active on the subscription, as you have installed the application on your new computer, please ensure that you sign out and sign back in as shown here https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

  • How do I deactivate my Lightroom 5.4 on my computer to install on my new laptop?

I just bought a new laptop and am giving away my older laptop, but cannot do so with my Lightroom activated in it. The Help tab shows no option, unlike Photoshop, and I'm really needing it done ASAP because my old laptop will be picked up soon.

    HI,
Lightroom doesn't have the same activation/deactivation process as Photoshop, simply download to the new computer and reenter your serial. And just uninstall if you are no longer using the older PC.

  • I wanted to download lightroom and pay the $9.99 monthly however in the next few months I am hoping to get a new laptop, will I be able to transfer?

I am trying to find out if I can download lightroom and pay the $9.99 for the yearly contract however within the next few months if all goes well, I am hoping to have a new laptop. Will I be able to transfer and download again or would I have to cancel (then be charged the 6 months) and start a new contract with the new laptop. Thanks!

No, just install the creative cloud application on the new machine and log on using your adobe account and you should be able to install direct from there without uninstalling from your previous machine. You can have it installed on multiple machines, you just can't simultaneously use it on more than one machine, which is why it makes you log on to the creative cloud.
