Adding .mac email alias to entourage

I want to add my .mac alias to entourage so I can send from my alias. I am already receiving mail sent to my mac alias in entourage. Help

Aliases are, as the name says, just aliases for one and the same mailbox. Aliases are not seperate mailboxes. All mails sent to either the main address or to one of the aliases will all end up in the same mailbox.
You can, however, purchase or upgrade to a .Mac family pack or buy additional email-only accounts. See here for details:

  • MAC Email Software + Microsoft Entourage setting

    Hi,
I would like to know which MAC email software has advanced features, Apple Mail or Microsoft Entourage?
I like Microsoft Outlook in Windows, but I think in MAC, we have only Microsoft Entourage is available, no Microsoft Entourage.
The main feature I like is "read request", I think is not available in Microsoft Entourage. Am I right?
Also, in Microsoft Entourage, I am getting images from my friend, but every time I need to click on "Download images". So, is there any way to save my setting permanently so i don't need to click every time on "Download images" for emails I am getting from same person.
    I really appreciate your support.
    Thanks.

Can you be specific about what you consider an "advanced" feature?
but I think in MAC, we have only Microsoft Entourage is available, no Microsoft Entourage.
Sorry, but this statement doesn't make any sense (and it's Mac, not MAC). What is the real question you're asking?
I am getting images from my friend, but every time I need to click on "Download images".
Who's using Entourage, you or your friend? Is your friend sending HTML emails with images, or is he/she sending images as attachments to the email itself?

  • Can I set up a Non .mac Email Pop mail client Alias for sending SMTP mail?

I have a yahoo.com POP mail account - [email protected] When I'm lgged into Yahoo mail, this account can receive and send mail from serveral aliases - [email protected], [email protected], etc.
Using Tiger's mail.app, I can log into the Yahoo smtp server and get all my mail, including mail to the alias names.
I would like to be able to reply from my Mac's mail.app account, using one of the aliases, instead of my POP account name. In other words, I'd like the From field be listed as "[email protected]" and not "[email protected]"
In mail.app (v2.1) is there any way to do this?
Alan Sampson' suggestion doesn't work - when I set the From field to the alias name, it looks like mail tries to login to the yahoo SMTP server under the alias, and it gets rejected.
    ( - see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2603372&#2603372 )
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the primary email account preferences, enter all alias email addresses in the Email Address field for the account separate by a comma.

If Yahoo allows this, it should work. Open Mail Help, type alias in the search box, and read the article titled Adding multiple email alias addresses to an account. Could it be that you're trying to put the aliases in the wrong field (i.e. User Name rather than Email Address)? Or maybe it's Yahoo's SMTP server that doesn't allow you to do this?

  • How do i set up an alias email address in entourage?

How do I set up an alias .mac email address in entourage? I set it up the same as my master .mac email address, but it is not working.

There are a couple of ways of doing this. The easiest is probably to just add the secondary address in the Mail.app -> Preferences -> Accounts field.
The specifics of which vary a little based on the OS/Mail.app version you're running, but in Yosemite:
    Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your iCloud account and change the 'Alias' popup menu from your iCloud address to 'custom'.
Doing this enables the 'Email Address' field. In this field you can enter the email address you want to appear in your From header.
If you want to use multiple addresses (e.g. your iCloud address and your other alias), you can enter a comma-separated list of addresses - e.g. '[email protected], [email protected]' and then you'll have a pop-up menu on each new message where you can choose the address to use for each outgoing message. You can also set the default address in Preferences -> Composing -> Send new messages from:

  • Using .Mac email aliases

I have sucessfully set up my .mac alias (using .mac mail).
First make a note of your primary account information:
    Username & password
    Incoming mail server
    Outgoing mail server
    Ports etc...
You will be applying these settings to your new account.
    On iPhone go to:
    * Settings/mail/add account/choose "other".
    * Sellect type: imap
Name the account (name you want to appear in "from" field of email).
Type in your .mac alias address.
Description: Name of mailbox (i.e. personal, work).
Incoming mail server (enter info from your primary account):
    * Host Name: mail.example.com (or mail.mac.com)
    * Your primary account username
    * Your primary account password
Outgoing mail server (enter info from your primary account)
In my case, for out going mail server I am using:
    smtp.att.yahoo.com, port: 465
    My username & password
Now, on my iPhone mail, I can select which account to send & receive from.
    Personal or work.
Works for me, hope it does for you!

A .Mac email alias is not valid for usage in iChat. Use an AIM screen name or trial .Mac account if you want a new name.

  • Email alias problem

    Hi everyone,
I added an email alias (mail>preferences>account>) and saved the settings as told to in Mail Help. The alias is appearing in a drop down box but the messages get held in the outbox? I am able to send them from the mobileme site, just not from mail itself. Any ideas?!
    Thanks in advance!

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

  • Cancelling 2nd .MAC email address but keeping name as alias?

I've got a .mac email address which is my primary email address. But I opened a second email address as a business email address. All the mail goes to the same account. But now I'd like to cancel my second email address and re-open it as an ALIAS in my primary email account. Is that possible? or is the second email address gone forever...
I hope that makes sense... thanks in advance for any help.

devoted to this the @mac address so it is very important to get it working.
Try resetting the password associated with your .mac account.

  • Moving Apple Mail.app "On My Mac" Emails to Entourage 2008

As the subject says, how do I move my "On My Mac" emails and folders into Entourage 2008? I've already transitioned my Exchange account to Entourage, but would also like to move some old email I saved off. This is email that I originally moved from my Exchange account to local folders using IMAP and drag and drop (as opposed to "Archive Mailbox"). I would like to keep as much formatting and as many headers as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Community Tash.
iCloud is only intended to sync iCloud email across your devices, it doesn't sync 3rd party accounts such as hotmail.
Email is synced between devices because the account is an IMAP account, you might consider using your iCloud email address for mail instead if yo want it to sync, or...
You might contact hotmail, they may be able to upgrade your address to an IMAP account, some providers can and some can't.
Changing your known email address is always a pain to some extent, but it's a simple choice between missing out on the features you want or accepting the pain.
If you are using a mail application as opposed to a browser based service, you should be able to move your archived mail folders quickly and easily. Many people you mail will use the reply feature and start using your new address without thinking and you can email everyone in your contact file your new address for those of your contacts that use their address book instead of the reply feature. You could send them your new vcard too to make the process simpler for them.

  • Set up email alias

How do I add an email alias to my POP Verizon email account?

    Hi Jeff
No, I'm not using virtual main hosting. Re adding additional short names, that's what I thought originally - however, I can't (a) seem to add additional short names to a user account and (b) it appears that short names can't be in the desired format (ie: firstname.lastname).
According to the mail admin guide, I can create email aliases in 1 of 2 ways: Mac OS X server-style & postfix-style. Only problem with this is that "mail service's Sieve functionality doesn't understand Mac OS X Server-style aliases and will not filter mail based on ...".
I believe this is why I can successfully send/receive mail using [email protected], but not receive mail sent to the alias I created in the 'info' screen of WGM (in the desired format)???
    Any other ideas?????

  • Add an email alias for user by script

As one step of a experiment, I'd like to be able to create an email alias for an existing user by script.  Is there a way to add an alias from the command line?

I have the same issue.  I'm a long long time Apple mail users even back to the @mac.com days.  I have tried for more than a month to add an alias to my main @mac.com/@me.com/icloud.com address.  It simply will not allow any additions.
Use to be you added an alias via the iCloud.com accounts settings, but now you have to use another entry to access the account ([email protected]).  That site will not allow me to add anything.
    Any ideas?

  • Setting up alternate MAC email addresses (aliases)

My mac was repaired, so I'm back to square one -- after 6 years! I'm trying to set up my mail.  I have the OLD .mac and .me addresses, but I entered the .icloud address; however, on my iPad and iPhone 5 and Mac Air, I also have my alias address set up, which is a .me address. When I send an email, I can use my alias and people respond to that.  My .me and .mac addresses are all messed up because Apple got rid of Mobile Me, many moons ago,and they send people an auto email saying this email does not exist.  But it does, because I still receive their messages.  Just that now they receive the auto email.
SO, my point is . . . I have an alias address I've used to STOP that auto response email, but I can't seem to ADD IT as an ACCOUNT on the newly restored Mac.
I can go on iCloud (online at icloud.com) and see ALL my alternate email addresses (all of the .me, .mac, and .icloud addresses) listed, but I can't seem to add any of them on my Mac email accounts using the mac mail in my dock.
Again, I have an iPhone 5, and didn't have a problem adding the alias/alternate email (.me address) to that, nor did I have a problem adding it to my mini iPad, but can't seem to add it to my desktop Mac.
    I'm still on OS 10.6.8
P.S.  I have been searching for a resolve for this.  When I go to System Preferences, I cannot click iCloud, because my Mac is on 10.6.8, and there doesn't seem to be an update for it to  10.7.5 or later. So does that mean I cannot add ANY aliases to my email?
Could I create a NEW alias with the .icloud address and have THAT work??
    Thanks

I tried to EDIT the above post, but that option is no longer available.
So I'm asking now, if I already have an alias, how do I add it to my MAC mail in my DOCK??? My aliases show up on icloud.com, but they don't show up on my Mac (the email in the doc).

  • Signing works with wrong iCloud email alias

    Hi,
I've succesfully created a free StartSSL S/MIME certificate for the email address I want to sign/encrypt, and have succesfully added it (along with its private key) to my iPhone 4S using the iPhone Configuration Utility.  I had to include the two StartCom root certificates and two Intermediate certificates (a Class 1 and a Class 3) from my Mac to make it work.  Here's what I have now:
Settings > Mail, Contacts… > iCloud account > Account > Mail > Advanced > S/MIME: ON; Sign: YES; Encrypt: YES
Under Sign (and Encrypt) > Certificates it displays the email alias I want to encrypt with a tick next to it.  Tapping on this certificate shows that it is Trusted.
Now, if I open Mail and choose Compose, it displays "Encrypted" under "New message", but with the wrong "From" address.  If I change the "From" address to match the address on the certificate, "Encrypted" disappears.
The address the certificate works with is the iCloud login address, which differs a great deal from the alias I created the certificate for.  The same certificate/private key pair works just fine for sending signed emails for that alias from Mail.app on the Mac.  Why won't it work on the iPhone?
Additional info that might be relevant: if I turn off "Encrypt" and just use "Sign", Mail on the iPhone doesn't sign any of the iCloud addresses - it doesn't appear to work at all.
I know that S/MIME is a tricky business on the iPhone, but this problem seems to differ from the other problems I've read about here on the forums.
    Anyone know what to do?
EDIT: I've tried re-booting the iPhone too.  Didn't change anything.

    Hi,
I have recently set up S/MIME on my iPhone and Mac using StartSSL Class1 certificates. I only use IMAP on my iPhone with email aliases so it's a bit different than your setup. My experience is that Mail on iPhone only uses the first email address of the account to sign/encrypt messages, even if the certificate belongs to the second or third alias. In my case I had to make the alias that the certificate belongs to the first to make it work.
You can try to make your alias the default address to see if it helps.
Another note: have you installed the intermediate certificates in your Mac and iPhone or you created a certificate bundle? My understanding is that they should be part of your certificate bundle because otherwise it won't work on other machines (that don't have the intermediate certificates installed). Also I think you need only the intermediate class 1 or class 3 client certificate but not both. If you want to make it in an easy way you can use the "Create PKCS#12 (PFX) File" under "Tool Box" in the StartSSL control panel to generate the bundle with all the necessary additional certificates.

  • How do I upload an 'On my Mac' email archive in Mail to an 'On my computer' folder in Outlook for Mac??

I've installed Office for Mac with Outlook and want to import an archive of 'On my Mac' emails from Mail to a new folder created in Outlook's 'On my computer' section.
When I recently upgraded to Mavericks, I was able to import this archive back in from a system backup I'd made beforehand. I thought I would be able to do the same again now, but Outlook's import function won't play ball, not even after I have led it to the 'Mailboxes' folder of MBOX data that I've saved onto my desktop. Outlook's 'import' button remains greyed out and unresponsive, even after I've opened the 'Mailboxes' folder to expose the MBOX data.
I now know I am not alone in being unable to complete this task by the only method suggested in Outlook's 'Help' that is open to me - ie, to "import messages in MBOX format". I got nowhere at all trying the alternative, to "Import Apple Mail messages", where, after clicking 'File / Import', the options encountered bore little resemblance to those described in 'Help' - eg, to import, specifically, "Entourage information from an archive or earlier version" rather than the more general "Information from another application", whilst there was subsequently no mention whatsoever of "Apple Mail" after clicking "the right arrow to continue".
I've since learned from trawling internet forums that Apple and Microsoft MBOX folders are not the same, which is presumably at the heart of this. There are also various solutions proffered, involving either uploading the archive over an IMAP connection (which I do have, to Gmail) to a shared email account, or using proprietary software that either converts email data from Mail to Outlook friendly or enables it to be uploaded from one to the other. However, none of the simpler solutions are relevant (they tend to be restricted to particular mail clients, etc) whilst the others require programming familiarity and skills that I don't possess.
It's hard to believe that Microsoft could produce this suite expressly for Macs and, in the case of the Outlook component, implicitly to replace its Mac counterparts, yet for it to be incapable of doing so in the crucial, basic area of importing pre-existing Mac email data.
Whilst I have taken this up with Microsoft, I'm just hoping there might be someone out there in the Mac community who might know the answer . . .

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to rest the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • How to convert a new Apple ID into a iCloud email alias?

    Howdy,
Just a few weeks ago, I created a second MobleMe accout for my daugher via my MobleMe family plan. The reason was that her orignal MobleMe email ([email protected]) address seemed a bit childish to her and she wanted a new "more professional" sounding address. At first I tried to create an email alias, but discovered that new alias creation had been stopped due to the looming iCloud launch, so I used one of my unused family plan accounts to create "[email protected]." Took some fooling around to get mail on her macbook to send & receive from both... but it worked and I was once again, the family IT hero!
Okay, now that iCloud has launched, and we are converting over to iCloud I wondered what to do about my daughters two email addresses. I looked around for information about just converting both xxxx & yyyy to iCloud, so my daughter could receive both emails from the same iMac mail account... but I can find nothing about that option on the inter tubes so I figured that option was unsupported.
Next I wondered if email aliases had come back, and they have! Cool, just convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]... but alias, you can't delete an Apple ID and I assume that I won't be able to create [email protected] as an alias as it is it's one Apple ID (otherwise, there would be a really big security hole in iCloud email ;).
What to do? Well, I can think of the following options, in order of what would be most user friendly to my daughter:
    1. Convert [email protected] to an alias of [email protected]. This would be nice because I could simplify my daughters email set up (just one account, not two). Trouble is, I don't know how to do this and/or it just can't be done.
    2. Create a new alias for [email protected]; [email protected]. Kind of junky as "yyyy" is pretty obvious (if you knew what it was), and [email protected] is already "out there."
    3. Create two accounts on my daughters macbook; one for [email protected] and the other for [email protected]. This ***** because she'd have to logout/login to check mail on both accounts.
So... their must be a simpler way, right Apple? If so, please advise!
