Adding MacBook Pro to my wireless Epson NX510 Series Printer

Hey, guys, I got a MacBook Pro for Christmas.  I think I can simply add it to my current printer, but have no clue as to how to do it.  The more I research it, the more confused I get by the plethora of information pertaining to it.  I feel sure this is probably a fairly simple and straight forward task, but am somewhat technically challenged.  Any guidance out there, Techies?

If your printer and MBP are on the same network, just go to System Preferences>Print & Scan and click the plus sign to add your printer. If you don't have the drivers installed, the system will download the recommended drivers.
Good luck,
Clinton

  • I have a new macbook pro and an HP Deskjet D2500 series printer and i can not figure out how to do double sided (duplex) printing! any help?

Does anyone know how to set up print so that it comes out double sided with the macbook pro??

How you enable double-sided printing can depend on the applications from whick you wish to print. Example: if I print to my HP PhotoSmart  from Safari, I get this print dialog box:
(Edit: OOPS! Note that I forgot to switch printers when i took the scene-shots, so ignore the "Brother" reference. It's should look the same for your HP.
Note the selection labled "Safari" near the bottom. If I change that form "safari to "Layout: I get this:
Note the option for two-sided printing appears for your selection. If I print from Word, the box is different:
The "Copies & Pages" option can be changed to "Layout" when you click it, again allowing the selection of two-sided printing.
If you tell us what applciaiton is vexing you, we may be able to give better-focused information.

  • How do you make a MacBook Pro talk to an Epson printer?

    MacBook Pro
    OS X 10.6.8
    (Thinking about getting  another MacBook)
I had an Epson Artisan printer, got an Epson Workforce WF-3640 new in Jan, hardly used because I cannot make it do what I want it to do. Wireless connection is good.
With the MacBook Pro, the interface with the Epson printers is not what it used to be on the G4: no ColorSync, no 2-sided, no thick paper, none of those kinds of instructions appear on the generic printer control panel. Which by the way, bears NO resemblance to the Epson manual screenshots, and the instructions in the Epson manual are useless.
How do you make a MacBook Pro talk to an Epson printer? And by the way, I cannot use the scanner either. I have to set up a document to print, then when the printing progress box appears, click on the scanner icon.
    Also
Printer has 2 compartments. Top compartment #1 for all types paper.
Bottom compartment #2 for plain paper only.
I load glossy photo paper in #1, it prints plain paper from #2 even though I entered instructions on the control panel on the printer.

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

  • Why won't my macbook pro recognize my wireless printer lexmark x4650?

My macbook pro will not recognize my lexmark x4650  printer to use wirelessly.  I recently had to change router and modem through comcast and have not been able to print wirelessly since.  I can print using a usb and the pc in our house is able to print wirelessly. I installed updates for apple, lexmark, uninstalled and reinstalled printer, tried adding printer manually using directions I found on forum discussions.  Any other suggestions?

I had almost the same thing happen the other day - kept getting a message that my printer was not connected. I went to the printer setup on the printer's panel and the IP address was correct, everything looked as if it should be working. So I just reset my router - figuring that would fix the problem. No go. What I finally ended up doing was resetting my router to factory settings and setting it up anew.
And that's what worked for me.

try disabling email scanning for incoming mail.
One of the last things that occurs is the mail server and Thunderbird sign off on "where we are up to" and Thunderbird stores this state information in the popstate.dat file in your profile (there is one in each POP mail account folder). If the anti virus, or you for that matter, end the conversation a few seconds early that hand off does not occur and the popstate is not stored.

I have a macbook pro. The wireless is always conected but it keeps stopping uring browsing for some minutes. However i am using teh same wireless on my iphone and it wok normaly without any stop or cut. Any help please?

I'm having the same issue. Different programs though, it's mostly browsers and adobe products. I thought maybe it was heat related but it's not. It seems that as soon as Lion was about to be released, the updates were updating in preparation for Lion. I delayed updating the software updates because Adobe (my career) isn't totally compatible with Lion yet. Before I even started getting update notifications, though, within the recent week, it's freezing up constantly. I don't know what to do. It seems to be happening with my brower choice, I'm using Firefox and Chrome as my main browsers. I keep alot of sessions open but that shouldn't cause (and has never caused) this constant freezing issue. I did install some extensions in Chrome and Firefox, maybe that's the problem... The issues began after those were installed though, 3 weeks to a month later... Maybe the software updates (that I installed thinking it would correct the freezing issue), maybe they are preventing other browsers ? Maybe Apple is getting rid of Chrome and Firefox ? I'm not having issues with Safari (yet) though I just opened it for the first time in 2 months... only because the macbook is freezing (and it's also rebooting while asleep, closing all of my projects and not saving them)...
My Macbook Pro is the same year and the HDD is a year new. The manufacture recall had the video whatever replaced a few months ago.
I've never had these kinds of problems with an Apple computer. I'm using Snow Leopard and I'm very attached to this laptop ! It's configured perfectly.
Why oh why does it freeze constantly within the recent 1-2 weeks ?
    Someone please help us !

  • MacBook Pro forgets its wireless & network internet settings...

    Hi...
I'm having problems with my MacBook Pro 'remembering' its wireless and network internet settings. I'm connecting via Airportto my Belkin 54g wireless router which is what has been running happily for the last 18 months.
Here's what happens - AirPort says it's connected, the internet works fine but when the MacBook Pro 'sleeps' or is restarted it 'forgets' its network and internet settings and cannot log on to the internet.
I get the Network Diagnostics appearing and I go through the options and eventually Network Diagnostics will show everything is fine, except there is no internet connection. I click through next options available on screen and I manage to get the MackBook Pro to restore its internet connection. All is fine until the MacBook Pro goes to 'sleep' again or is switched off.
This hassle began out of the blue - I haven't changed any settings on the machine, I haven't installed any software or anti-virus programs - it just spung up!
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
I have not encountered this particular problem yet, but I have just bought a Belkin 54g adsl and wireless router. It has connected up to my home pc with no problems and it has also connected up to my macbook pro (leopard) okay, but the range on the internet connection is really poor. It works up to about 50 feet, but I can't use it upstairs, which granted is more than 50 feet away from the source, but at 80 quid I thought it would perform better.
I contacted Belkin support which is local rate and they suggested changing the wireless channel from 11 to 6, but when I did this it would even find the network using Airport.
I would like to be able to use the laptop over 50ft (i.e. in my bedroom) as well as all over the house, but so far I only get as far as the next room!
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful? NB: I am not a very technical user.

  • My macbook pro has stopped detecting my wi fi printer. What has gone wrong?

my macbook pro has stopped detecting my wi fi printer. What has gone wrong?

Bad RAM. Reseat it and see if that clears it up. If not then that need to be replace or the actual RAM sockets have gone bad.

  • I have a macbook pro and aphotosmartD110 wireless printer.  I was told that if I install the printer software on my computer, it will no longer print wirelessly.  Is that true and how do I scan wirelessly without loading in the software?

I have a macbook pro and a photosmart D110 printer.  I was told that if I load the software for the printer onto my mac that it will no longer print wierlessly.  Is that true and how can I scan wirelessly without loading the software? Also, can I just connect my mac to the printer with a cable and scan or do I need that software loaded onto the mac?  Thanks for all help!

If you are running Lion then all drivers are distributed through Software Update. You do not need to install anything, other than to install the printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan. If you already added the printer while it was connected using USB, you might want to delete it and set it up again wirelessly to avoid confusion. Or, give them two distinct names e.g. "Photosmart D110 (USB)" and "Photosmart D110 (wireless)".
All scanning functions are now performed using Preview, but you can also access the scanner through the same Print & Scan preference pane, or with Image Capture.
This HP document may help explain how driver software is distributed now:

  • New MacBook Pro 13 i5 Wireless Issues.

I got the new MacBook Pro i5 2.3 the day it came out. So maybe a week and half ago.
I`m having intermittent wireless issues. I have done some testing and even replaced my older AirPort Base Station with the new Dual-Band one, but still seeing a drops from the network. I have a ping going to my router and to the ABSE. I tried changing the channel and using 5GHZ or 2.4GHZ. I also have a AirPort express and seen similar results. I tried reseting the PRAM, repairing permission, I did not reinstall the OS but I dont see how this would help. I think there is a hardware issue with the wireless card/antenna.
I did upgrade RAM and HDD was changed to SSD (intel G2 SSD). There are no other issues, machine is fast, no lock ups. Other devices on the network do not seem to drop any connections (ATV, ATV2, iPhone4, iPad etc..)
The network drop outs are short but are noticeable and if a ping is going I can see the drops

  • How do I connect a 2013 Macbook Pro Retina to an Epson Power Lite 61p LCD Projector?

I am trying to attach an Epson PowerLite 61p LCD Projector to my 2013 Macbook Pro Retina, but I cannot find which type of adapter I need. I would assume whichever adapter is required it must connect via thunderbolt. However, I do not know if the required adapter is a "Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter," "Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter," or a "Thunderbolt to VGA Adapter." I would deeply appreciate your help and guidance. Thanks!

It does not matter whether you get an Apple adapter or a third pary one.  What you have there is a Mini Displayport to VGA adapter, but as you know, your new MacBook no longer has an MDP port!
Thunderbolt to VGA adapters do not exist but there are plenty of HDMI to VGA adapters out there:

  • HP Photosmart C5580 and MacBook Pro Snow Leopard wireless printer with router

I have a macbook pro OSX operating system and a C5580 HP Photosmart printer.  I have spent hours with netgear as I did purchase a new router getting my macbook pro to print wirelessly.  Whatever the fix it is temporary and my private tech has to take control of my computer to get to work again.
    1. am I printing with bluetooth? through router?
    2. what is happening whenever it gets out of sync and how can I fix myself?
    3. computer says "idle" but shows device connected.  I can print test page wirelessly, but not current document. Documents print when I connect with usb cable.
I felt I should contact HP since I think it is their problem though netgear has been very helpful.  I understand that I do need USB to scan, but shouldn't have to have it to print. We have downloaded all of the most current drivers and software.

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
If you loaded the HP software from the printer CD and unless your CD says it specifically supports 10.6 Snow Leopard, you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.
    Answers:
    1. No, routers don't do bluetooth.  If they are wireless routers they use wi-fi (802.11).
    2. I don't know, you have not told me enough about your symptoms or system.
    3. Same as #2.

  • Macbook pro not connecting wirelessly to HP officejet 8650 but other mac devices connect fine

I have Verizon FIOS and I just upgraded my router to a new one that Verizon sent me in the mail. I changed the wifi password on all my devices after installing the router and they are all connected, however now my macbook pro won't connect to the wireless printer. My ipad will connect with the printer, so the printer is connected. My macbook pro is definitely online since I get internet, but it won't see the printer. I called Verizon and they basically said "it should work".
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I don't have my macbook in front of me but from mmory,  I think you open preferences and select printers/devices and then there should be an option to search for wireless printers.
In the past when I've had a similar problem, i found that connecting with a USB helped re-established the connection.

  • Macbook pro not connecting wirelessly to my FiOS

I just got a Macbook Pro last Wednesday immediately after having Verizon FiOS installed in my house on Tuesday. Unfortunately I can't get Airport to connect to the internet at my house. I would say it's just FiOS but my neighbor has the exact same service and I can connect fine over there. One thing I've probably done wrong is to have changed the Airport settings so now it says my network is using 802.1x. Is there anyway i can reset my airport settings to the factory original?

    axeman310,
We will need more information than you have provided. "Airport" settings? On what? On an Airport wireless router, connected to your FiOS box? On your MBP? Or are you calling the Actiontec router that normally comes with FiOS "Airport?"
What says your network is using "802.1x?" Your MBP? A router? If a router, how is it telling you this? And, do you really mean to write "802.1x?" Or should that be "802.11x?"
    We need much more information.
    Scott
