Adding menus and submenus to Photoshop

Hello,
Is it possible to add a menu and several submenus to this menu under, for example, the Photoshop main “window” menu?. It is possible to add then dynamically?
Thank you very much.

May I add that companies who have tried to hack such functionality in have typically royally messed up the Photoshop UI.

In the metalink note provided by you it was asked to create table collecting all menu id's and I cannot create any tables in production. • Audio background for menus and submenus does not start cleanly

I have a main menu with several submenus. I am not using any menu transitions or anything fancy here for this particular experiment/issue, I just want the audio behind the menus to start cleanly.
So far, it works perfectly in simulator or Apple's DVD Player, or Windows Media Player.
But in a set top box, it often chops off the beginning of the audio - it goes to the submenu, but then I miss the first beat of audio or something. It's not always consistent.
At this point, I have padded the beginning of each piece of BG audio with a full 2 seconds of silence, and it still doesn't start cleanly half the time. It's almost like the padding has no effect, although I can see that the clips I've assigned are 2 seconds longer. I've run out of ideas....thanks...

It's difficult for me to tell what it's doing with store-bought DVDs. In fact, this may be a common issue, because the few I tried all seemed to fade-in the audio clips.
So I tried that with mine, I put a little bit of a low bass note fade-in at the head of each audio clip - and it works! I don't know why.... it's like there's some audio threshold that has to be exceeded for the DVD player to actually start playing the audio.
Previously, my clips (which have drum beats) started right on the downbeat with a full groove. The first beat or so would get cut off. Now, with a little bit of a fade-in right before the downbeat, they play. I don't understand it, but it works....

  • Horizontal Menus and submenus

I have menu set up that is 753 by 200. I will be adding swap
images later, but for now I am trying to find a way to have the
menu wrap down below as a second line. Right now it just goes
horizontally over the parameter of my menu.
My second problem is that the sub menu only wants to drop
down vertially and I want it to go horizontally.
    Any thoughts?

Are you using the pop-up menu editor? If yes, then click on
    the
Appearance tab and change the setting from Vertical menu to
    Horizontal
    menu.

  • Editing Menus and Bottons in Photoshop

I'm using the Tryout version 2.0 (my first experience with Encore). Whenever I try to edit a menu or button (Control+Shift+M), I get an error message stating that "Could not edit in Photoshop. Does not appear to be installed." I am currentlly running Photoshop CS2. Apparently, Encore has not found the location of the CS2 executable (despite the fact that it's in the same Adobe folder). I've looked for options to manually set the location to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Why is the font size for the Photoshop Cloud navigation menus and tools displaying extremely small on my laptop? I can barely see them. The other Adobe Cloud applications don't display small.

Is a readable interface an unreasonable expectation?
Not at all, and we should well expect that Adobe is working on it.  By their own admission they ARE working on it.  I don't sense "deafening silence" at all.  But results won't/can't be instantaneous and they're not going to promise you release dates.  Life is not like that, no matter how many times you click your red shoes together.
It's not hard to understand that right now only a small minority of Photoshop users are running high dpi screens that can't take advantage of the 200% setting.  And it was the choice of those users to buy such hardware even in light of the fact that Photoshop can't work fully well on it yet.  Adobe didn't force anyone to buy a 150 ppi display.
Frankly, if you've chosen such hardware even though Photoshop doesn't offer 150% scaling, it's your own fault.  I recently invested well over $1000 in a new monitor and I planned well enough ahead to buy a 100ppi model (Dell U3014, and it's GREAT).  There's a reason that very new technology is called "bleeding edge".  If you want "To Work" instead of "Dealing With Quirks", sometimes you have to be conservative.
A majority of Photoshop users DO expect new and useful features, however, such as new tools, new camera support in Camera Raw, etc., so Adobe understandably cannot dedicate every resource they have to revamping Photoshop's user interface just for a special few folks who have irresponsibly adopted new display technology.
We can debate all day how much Adobe ought to be spending on engineering development, but you and I don't run the company.  We don't make business decisions for them.  I do, however, claim to understand their capabilities and limitations - possibly better than most - because I'm in the same business.
I can only recommend you be patient.  One day Photoshop will respond to your desktop settings.
What the heck has anybody ever accomplished here, with Adobe, in either fashion?
Rhetorical or not, some quite tangible things do come to mind...
At one time I couldn’t paste my clipboard containing a grayscale image into a new document via an action assigned to a key; the color engine would crash.  Today I can do so without incident.
At one time multiple Help windows would pop up unexpectedly, often when working in the Styles panel.  Today they don’t.
At one time I had to select Basic GPU mode.  Today I use Advanced GPU mode without a problem.
Once running Liquify or Smart Sharpen or a number of other things were slow, especially on big images.  Now they're quite fast, with GPU acceleration.
At one time an action could not write data back to a document when in windowed mode.  Today it works.
At one time panorama stitching and focus stacking did not work.  Now it works.
At one time most filters only worked on 8 bits/channel data.  Now many of them can handle 16 bits/channel.
Once naysayers predicted that the Photoshop Photography bundle would shoot up in price.  Yet today it's still $9.99 a month.
Once it was impossible to read Photoshop's UI on a 200+ ppi screen.  Now there's a new 200% setting for that.
I'm sure I can think of other things.  And of course the software isn't perfect today.  It never will be absolutely perfect.
Station_two, are you keeping up with the latest Photoshop releases?  If not, I submit that your rhetoric may be falling out of date.

  • Creating Photoshop buttons for motion menus and photoshop menus

Hi I need to create buttons in photoshop for both a photoshop menu and a motion menu on DVD studio pro program
Can someone tell me how to do it on both different menus?
I really need some DETAILS on how to do it. Thanks for your time and responses ahead of time

OK, here's what I recommend you try...
Create the footage for your motion menu background. In that footage fade in the button shapes and text for the buttons exactly as you want them to appear. Hold the final position of these buttons for at least 30 seconds. save an image of the still portion to act as a guide in photoshop. Encode that footage to MPEG2 using Compressor and import it in to DVDSP.
Take the still image in to photoshop and add a single layer to the file. On the new layer, create a shape of some kind (an underline, tick, circle, cross, box around, arrow, etc) next to the background button text. Make these shapes (for each piece of background text) black, and leave the rest of the layer white. Hide or delete the background layer and save the result as a .pict image. Import it in to DVDSP.
Take the motion footage and drop it in to a menu. use the loop point in the property inspector to define where the 'still' portion of that footage begins. Now drag the .pict overlay image in to the same menu, but hold it a second until the contextual menu appears... set it as the overlay. Drag out button rectangles around the background text and position for the shapes in the overlay. Make sure the rectangles don't overlap, and set up the target for these buttons as well as the navigation between them.
Use the property inspector to adjust the colours for the overlay - set it to be a simple overlay and in grayscale. What should happen is that when the menu plays the animated sequence starts first but as soon as the loop point is reached the overlay becomes active. The first button defined will be set as selected. You should now see the menu with the buttons faded in to position and the buttons should be clickable.
When returning to this menu you may not want the viewer to sit through the animated sequence each time. Use a script (in DVDSP4) to specify that they return to the loop point only (the bit where the buttons are) or create a second menu that is identical to the loop point and send the viewer there instead.
As you can see, there are several steps involved and I have made assumptions that you know something about menus and constructing buttons. It is all in the manual, but you will need to be familiar with Photoshop (or whatever image editor you prefer) to do this properly.
You do not need to try to make four layer shapes and bring them in to the menu, and if you attempt to add anything else from the templates panel to this menu then the image quality will suffer as DVDSP builds the disc. If you do want to add other shapes and text to the menu then don't do the export to MPEG2... keep it as a simple QT .mov file.
Please let us know how you get on after trying this method, and after reading up on those manuals

  • Can the interface menus and icons be set a little larger in 64bit Photoshop version CS6 ????

Can the interface menus and icons be set a little larger in 64bit Photoshop version CS6 ????
It would be very helpful if the tools and font size choices were enhanced to Larger, Largest or custom enhance. Anyone know if that is an idea we can send to Adobe?

I wonder about folk who use small screen laptops with a high pixel density. I'd guess that there are 1920x1200 laptops with 17 or possibly even 15 inch screens, and Photoshop is going to be a nightmare to use on them. Heck, the notebook sized iPad 3 has a >2000 pixel screen! That sort of pixel density is going to work its way through to laptops, before too long. I have read about LED televisions with 4K (equivalent of four 1080 panels) and even 8K (equivalent of 8 1080 panels) screens. Is that going to work its way through to computer monitors? To be fair, we are talking about 60inch screens here, but nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to gamers and their hardware!!!
I have all but given up using Photoshop on my 19 inch laptop with a 1920x1200 screen because it is not comfortable compared with the 30 inch monitor I use for my main screen at home (also 1920 x 1200). This is a frequently asked question, and Chris has said it would be a major undertaking to upsize the icons, but it surely has to go on the list for the next upgrade.

  • Adding keywords and description to filename

I've built myself an online gallery system to let my clients view and purchase their photos online.  To streamline my workflow, the script that imports my photos and resizes them for web display will also parse the file name to pull out a description and tags (keywords).  So I went in and added descriptions and keywords to a few test images and went to save them out to try running through the script, but when trying to save from Camera Raw neither keywords nor description were available to add to the jpg file name.  I figured I could get around this by simply using Bridge to rename the NEF files using the keywords and description, then I could just have CR save the jpgs using the current filename, but even Bridge doesn't seem to be able to access this metadata (and this would add addition time to the process anyway).
I know I can work around this by simply batch renaming the sets of files that I would otherwise add this metadata to, and creating the file names manually before export, but that would add a fair amount of time into the process and eliminates me being able to use keywords in Bridge.  I work two jobs right now and anything I can do to my workflow to shave precious minutes off of it is huge to me.
So I guess my questions are:
    1) Is it possible to get keywords and the description into my filenames (without spending more time than this process was designed to save)?
    2) If not, what's the point of having that metadata?
    3) Is this functionality available in a newer version of PS?
I'm using Photoshop CS3 and the format my final JPG files need to have is: "[4 digit sequence number]_[Description]_[comma delimited keyword list].jpg"
Thanks for reading, and hopefully helping.

Sorry about that, was too early in the morning when i posted that. No, you can't use Batch Rename to add keywords to files, i was thinking about metadata in general. The point of keywords is that you can search images for keywords and you can also use the Filter panel to show only images that contain certain keywords.
If you want Bridge to have this functionality then i suggest that you make a feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

Thanks for the help. I installed CC and it fixed everything but Photoshop. I guess I will have to use my old laptop for images until Adobe fixes the problem. Do you know of a place where we can send issues like these to Adobe?

  • How do I enlarge tiny menus and tools (CS5, Win 8.1)

I installed Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 8.1 machine (3200x1800pixel resolution). The menus and tools are really tiny---about half the usual size (see image below). This also occurs in Adobe Bridge, but not Acrobat 9.0. No other programs are so affected (e.g. MS Word, Chrome web browser). I have tried lowering the computer's screen resolution without any effect on Photoshop CS5 (other programs appear enlarged then, but not CS5). I have not had any problem when this program was installed on a Windows 7 machine. Any ideas?

There is another thread on this at

In the meantime, this is a workaround solution:

  • Custom schema and custom functions, menus and responsibilities

    Hi All,
My company has developed an integration for the EBS to enable third party software to create items and other objects. We are using a JDBC connector and call the underlying pl/sql APIs (like EGO_ITEM_PUB.PROCESS_ITEM) from Oracle. We have added some functions, menus and responsibilities to our EBS 12.1.1 installation in order to provide an access control mechanism for our JDBC integration since it connects to a db schema directly. We call FND_FUNCTION.TEST to check if the logged in user/responsibility has the function he wants to call assigned to him. We also plan to use a custom schema so that we do not have to connect to the apps schema directly because we think that our customer will not allow us to do that. What do you think?
I planed to use FNDLOAD to download all the function, menus and responsibilities in order to provide a script for our customer so that they can simply upload all the objects (menus...).
    My problems/questions now are:
Should they upload those menus, functions and responsibilities into our custom schema or into the apps schema?
Are menus and responsibilities always defined in the apps schema?
In which schema are they defined if they are created in the GUI (oracle forms)?
    Thanks,
    Konrad

In what schema are responsibilities created if you use the resp window to create them? Or does it depend on the application which is provided while creating the responsibility?

  • Changing the size of fonts in InDesign's menus and toolbars?

Is it possible to change the size of fonts in InDesign's menus and toolbars? I'd love for the Control Panel at the top to be a bit easier to read.
