Adding Metadata to folders/ Searching Drive for Keywords not just one folder - Bridge CC 2014

Hello Adobe world,
I'm trying to add Metadata to folders not the files. The files in the folders already have metadata and in one folder we have 360 images of the same thing. When I do a keyword search I don't want to go though 20+ sets of 360 duplicate files. I need to do keyword searching for folders. When I have tried adding keywords to the folders I get "the file cannot store xmp metadata" warning. I tried clearing the cache on the file because it said that would help in another forum but it did not help. Does any one know how to fix this? I don't know why we could not assign descriptions or keywords to folders. It would be very useful!! Some one please help!
as of 2/24/2015 - This is still unanswered. I want to be able to find files throughout my whole drive based on the metadata tags I put on all my 100,000+ images. These 100,000+ images are dispersed thought out multiple folders. I need to be able to find all the files with specific Metadata tags in common but bridge will not let me search outside of one defined folder? HELP!

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader) the program can perform an OCR on the document you acquired.

can you provide a bit more info before you do anything.
I'm presuming this is a pop mail account - please confirm.
First, make sure hidden files and folders are visible:
The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* click on 'show folder' button
* click on 'Mail' folder.
* Please post image of the contents of the 'Mail' folder.
In thunderbird:
* right click on mail account name and select 'Settings'
* Select 'Server Settings' for the mail account
* Look bottom right for 'Local directory'.
* Put mouse cursor in the text box, then use keyboard arrow keys to navigate to the far right..some of the directory will be hidden as it does not fit it all in, so keep going to the right until you reach the end.
* Then left click, hold down and move mouse to the left to highlight the entire entry.
* Right click on highlighted area and select Copy.
* Paste info into this question in the forum.

You can download the full feature software and driver, and only install the basic driver. In the installation you should see the option for custom software. Here is the link to download the software; rw2_021_w02_enu.exe

Call tech support and for a kindly $25 box we'll show a work around. I interpret that to be obsolesence. You are up to date or you are not. The refund of the money is more complicated to monitor than when the softweare patch would be available, at least 5 times more complicated. Wait for the bank statement to see if ther money was refunded, and than follow up for the refund, come ON!

Problem is not so clear but I can say you can try these things.
1. Are you trying to do retroactive calculation for particular employee . If yes, then check the driver perk wage type validity period.
2. If you are using some constant table to calculate Driver's perk value then you must check that contact table and dates mentioned there.

I want to be able to clear certain parts of history. Not all of it for a time, and not just one "entry" at a time. For example: I have lots of entries in history for CNN or ESPN website. You can also use a colon (:) that is present to specify the protocol in the search bar.
In the site bar you can sort by visited date and in the library you can click a column header (e.g. location) to the the history items.
Note that you can copy (drag/drop) history items to a bookmarks folder to save (preserve) them as bookmarks.
You would need to use a place: query and create a so called smart folder to have more control.

Nothing "built in" senses file type and sorts by it that know of, and I've not heard of any third-party options.
You can have pretty good control by slight mods to how you download:
1--Set up a dedicated Downloads folder in Documents if you don't have one. Point all you browsers to that folder for catching downloads.
from here you have two options:
2A--always display that folder sorted by "Kind." That put files of similar types together
2B--within the Downloads folder, create subfolders for different file types. If you do this, instead of clicking files for downloading, right-click them. One of the contextual menu options the right-click will reveal is "Download Linked Files as...." and will force a dialog box from which you can select the subfolder that will hold that file type.

I don't think you can in iTunes.
Multiple editing in Get Info does not offer an option to change start/stop times.

Can I add just one folder from an external hard drive to the Time Machine Backup?

I have TM set up to backup my main iMac hard drive. I have an external hard drive with photos on it that I would like to add to the TM backup as well. Not the whole hard drive - just one folder with current photos I am working on.

Select the volume icon in the Finder and open the Info window. Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and enter your administrator password when prompted. Check the box at the bottom marked
Ignore ownership on this volume

Searching files for keywords

Hi all,
I am in the process of building a shell script as part of a auditing utility. It will search a specified directory for keywords and output results of the file path, and line number that the word was found on. I built a test script (shown below) that does just this, but egrep apparently does not allow MS word, excel, etc... documents to be read. I was wondering if someone could point me in an alternate direction that would allow me to search these types of documents as well? (Wordfile is a file that is create elsewhere with a list of words to search for e.g. bus)

I don't think that info is included in metadata (though I could be wrong - checkout Query Programming and Metadata attributes). If line numbers are a key part of this, then you're probably going to have to (a) make a quick conversion of office files to plain text using textutil, or (b) use osascript to search Word via applescript. trying to read a word doc as plain text in unix is going to give you mounds of headaches (particularly if the 'fast save' option is on in Office, since that will save changes non-sequentially on disk).

How to search for "Kind not equal to Folder"

I'm trying to set up a Smart Folder with criteria:
- Last Modifed within last 2 weeks AND
- Kind is not Folder
How do you set up Finder search criteria for Kind "doesn't equal" something? All I can find is Kind = All or one thing in particular?

You'll have to use the Raw Query in order to have boolean operators, such as "is not" or "or" and so on. So do your Command-F, choose Last Modified, then for second criterion select "Other" from the drop down menu and scroll to Raw Query and select it. In the Raw Query field copy and paste this:
kMDItemKind != "Folder"
That should do it. The booleans are:
== equal
!= not equal
< less than
<div class="jive-quote"> greater than
<= less than or equal to

Is it possible to define search paths for an SQR ?
Ie at run time, we would like the system to look for the SQR in c:\sqr1\ if not found then look in c:\sqr2\ and so on .. until c:\sqr4\
Right now this feature exists ONLY for the SQC via the -i flag
( ex: c:\ps_home\bin\sqr\ora\BINW\sqrw.exe c:\xrfwin.sqr -ic:\sqr1\;c:\sqr2;c:\sqr3;c:\sqr4\ )
We would like to be able to do it VIA:
1) The process Scheduler. ( Where do we set it up ? in PSPRCS.CFG ? Not sure how )
2) Command line. ( We can't find any flag that could satisfy this need )
Note: We heard about a few hints ( SQRPATH, psprcs file, @FILE flag, PSSQR ) but not able get any of them cleared out.
This is delaying our development and it's quite crucial for us.
Any thoughts or hints would be VERY APPRECIATED !!

If you don't find anything and the cmd line is really needed, you could probably write your own script (ie .bat or .cmd) looking for the sqr which you could give as a parameter.

Hi Anne,
I understand you're wanting to use your Deskjet 3510 printer with your Mac that has the 10.4.11 operating system. I will certainly do my best to guide you in this.
I did quite a bit of research to see if there was any way to make the Deskjet 3510 work with 10.4 and in the end I have concluded that the two are not compatible with one another. There is no HP software available for the Deskjet 3510 for anything below Mac 10.6 and the Apple Update software would be much too new for your 10.4 system and won't work that way either.
At this point you would either need to upgrade your Mac operating system to 10.6 or higher, or do your best in finding an older printer that would work with 10.4 (such as the Officejet 4500).
