Adding metatags?

My friend uses Adobe Pagemill and is able to add metatags in his html code strings.
I looked all over the iWeb stuff and cannot find a way to look at my pure html code so I drop tags in. Is this possible with iWeb? Really need this capability to move up in search engines.

Iweb keywords vs. old metatags

I just got my personal domain working. In the process I lost my place in google search. Since iweb doesn't use tags, how can I get my web site to show up again? I did put in a lot of key words in my copy, but my .com doesn't even show up in a google search.

Many suggest using Google, http://www.google.com/addurl/, instead of adding metatags. However, you can add metatags to your published site using the freeware iWeb SEO Tool 1.0.1.

Can multiple users share the same DB ?

We have about 10,000 + personal photos. Can I install the LR Database on my server so that my wife and I can both be adding metatags to the photos at the same time ? I don't mind if I have to buy 2 copies, but I am more concerned about sharing the database. Any Ideas ?

CSS (Responsive) Horizontal Dropdown Menu (Alignment)

I am styling a Responsive CSS Horizontal Dropdown Menu (for hours now), and can not get the main menu headings (Directory, Resources, etc) to align left (even) with the logo and content divs. I would also like the submenu headings (Learning & Games) and items (Catch the Bullet, Snoopydoo, etc) to align left (even) with the logo and content divs. - Like I am trying to do with the main headings. --I am trying to get the logo, main menubar heading, and menubar subheading to all align the same left.
(Optional) I am considering on not having the gray menuboard span the whole screen when opened. Not sure if this would look good, but even more unsure how to keep it in the 90% container the menubar is located in.

Another great tip. Never cease to amaze. Thanks . I uploaded the new CSS with red border and looked at somewhat. It seems very helpful, but like this navbar, I'm gonna have to spend some time with. BTW, crammed some more learning recently (Mostly Dreamweaver, little HTML STructure, and JQuery). Going to try to not use as many divs, (use HTML tags and class selectors). Trying to use captions in my HTML and CSS for organization and understanding. Making copies of all my CSS, JS, and HTML. Set my areas (divs) up as 'section,aside,article,and footer'?--Tried adding metatag info (I think I missed 1 part of the metatag (they wanted a value?). Not sure if my metatagging is correct? Let me know of any advice what I'm doing right/wrong so far.
I taught myself to design using divs like tables somehwat. With the correct way of design (not using alot of divs)..how would I handle this?...
My old page (method), I had several,divs: 3- (content75%) and 3- (image25%) all housed within a div (approx 900px). Content was left, and images right. Total DIV that housed them was 75% of 1232px page? (I think)..The div that housed them was approx 900px (.75x1232). Content approx 675px and image approx 225px wide.
I inseted 480px wide images in that 25% image div and it showed it nicely as approx 225px wide on desktop, and when responsive on mobile, nice full size at 480px. (I think I am/was avoiding having to use alternative images--for each platform-- this way?)
With the correct way of designing (less divs), how would I handle this scenario above? IF I inserted a 480px image into a approx 900px div with no other divs, it would fill the div with a 480px image. IT would then throw my wole design off. I think I'm just missing some HTML/CSS knowledge. Hope this question makes some kind of sense?

Adding a metatag

Sometimes some websites that let you monitor your activity ask for either an html file or a metatag on your header in your website to verify it's your website. Can this be done with an iWeb webpage? What would be the header in the page and do you do it like you insert an HTML snippet?

Yes, every time you update a page with iWeb, the new HTML file *will replace* the one with all your enhancements.
Do not worry, TextWrangler fully supports Apple's AppleScript so you can automate the process. You don't even have to know how that works ! Just click on script / RECORD before you start.
AppleScript will RECORD everything you do in TextWrangler. When ready, save the script.
Next time you make an update in iWeb, just click on the script and relax, your Apple computer will do all the work for you !
You can make as many scripts as you want/need.
Attention : once you get to know it, AppleScript recording can become addictive

Recordsets disappear from menu when adding mysql_query ("SET NAMES 'utf8'"); below the connection in php

I hope someone can help with this. I'm trying to create a
dynamic site using dreamweaver CS3, with php5 and mysql5 in the
background but I'm having difficulty with recordsets disappearing
from the server behaviour menu when tweaking the code to allow set
characters or set names for utf8.
For a while, I've been having a problem getting my
dynamically generated master list pages (eg lists of jobs) to
display international characters like an accented french e (and
other languages) and for these to display correctly when viewed in
phpmyadmin also. So, I've placed headers at the top of the page for
utf8 and created the content metatag for utf8 in the page code.
Where needed I've added ENT_QUOTES utf etc for htmlentities and
added accept-charset utf-8 in the <form> action area.
(one thing I haven't done in the form action area is add
<enctype="multipart/form-data">, but I'm not sure if this
will make any difference)
In the backend, the innoDB database is collated and built
using utf8_unicode_ci. I'm on a shared host -so can't directly
access php.ini or adjust the connection settings through
phpmyadmin. But I can write .htaccess files (currently with the
defaultcharset set to utf8 also).
At this point - all list pages display the correct characters
when retrieved from the database - indicating that the headers are
working. But - in phpmyadmin the letters are garbled, and garbled
on return on update forms (content management). I solved this by
adding the &#xxxx; equivalents in insert and update forms to
display the text correctly on the list pages - but again it's not
convenient to see all of this in phpmyadmin, as I'd like to be able
to read it there as it should be, and to dispense with the need to
add &#xxxx references on the insert and update forms.
So...a bit of searching, and I read that in order for the
international characters to display in phpmyadmin correctly, I
needed to amend my php page code so that for all instances where I
see the connection to the database, before the SELECT, INSERT and
DELETE queries, I need to add either mysql_set_charset('utf8',
$connection) or use three lines of code referencing mysql_query SET
NAMES, SET CHARACTER SET and SET COLLATION_CONNECTION for utf8.
I did that, and it removed all of my recordsets in the
sidebar menu! Not too good. I'm left with a task of rebuilding
pages now.
So I placed the mysql_set_charset line in the connection.php
file in the DW Connections folder below the connection there
instead. [I didn't precede the mysql etc line with a $ sign - I
wonder if that's the issue?]
With this change I could use the Insert forms to add the
international characters directly into the database and see through
phpmyadmin that all was hunky dory. But then the problems came with
first loads of the master list page.
So, I can get international characters into the database now
(which is a step in the right direction for me), using an insert
form on the website, but I still can't get the international
characters to display on the returned page on first loading eg on a
list of jobs. Note that the detail pages display fine when clicking
the master links, and when I return from the detail page back to
the master list - the characters are ok. They just don't seem to
display when the master page loads for the first time which is
really perplexing me.
I suspect that I need to add the mysql_set_charset line below
the $connection and before the selects, inserts etc at all
instances on the webpage, but this just removes the recordset from
the menu, so this doesn't seem to be a good option.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as I'm been stuck
on this for ages. It may be something simple like adding $ in front
of the mysql_query, but then again maybe not.
I've tried other forums - but people seem to be content with
viewing but not offering assistance. I don't believe that what I'm
doing here hasn't been done before....all I want is for my pages to
display international characters and for these to display correctly
in phpmyadmin so that when I insert, update and delete records
using webforms I don't have to resort to using &#xxx inserts.

Usually you only need to send a SET NAMES 'utf8' right after
the
connection to the DB has been established. That way all data
that is
transferred between the DB and your script will be handled as
UTF-8.

I've never used mysql_set_charset().
Here in my applications it always works like this:
* the default charset in my InnoDB tables is ISO-8859-1, I
only use
UTF-8 in the columns that really need it (text data, but not
INT or
DATE columns)
* SET NAMES 'utf8' at the beginning
* all files (HTML and PHP) are encoded as UTF-8 without BOM
* all pages delivered as UTF-8 (my pages are
script-generated, so I use
an appropriate header() call to define the content-type and
encoding)
That's it. Oh, and I don't use phpMyAdmin ...

In the first part of your posting it sounded as if it worked
almost
correctly, before you tried to fix the broken phpMyAdmin
appearance.

They did display correctly first, didn't they? So it seems
that you
broke your script just in order to fix some PMA problem.
Revert that.
Make your script work for normal input/output from/to a
website first
and don't worry about PMA for now.
What do you need PMA for BTW? It may have many other issues
as well and
should only be used if really necessary or if you're not
familiar with
the command line interface. The only thing that we are using
it is to
get a dump from a remote DB, where I don't have shell access
to call
mysqldump directly (yes, I could also write a little PHP
script for
that, it's already somewhere on my TODO). But here on my
local system I
always use the MySQL command prompt if I have to directly
work on some
tables or to import the dump from remote.
Anyway, if you need PMA, your might try their group or forum.
I'm sure
there's an FAQ as well. Maybe it's just a configuration
issue.

ITunes now becomes non-responsive when adding new music

Hello.
For a few months now iTunes has gone from quick importing of new mp3 and m4a files from my desktop, down to very slow importing after a long pinwheel, and now finally the endless pinwheel whenever I add any files. (It can go on hours, and requires force quit). My collection is large (50k files / 1TB or so), and the media sits on an external hard drive, but I have tried creating a new library from scratch on the desktop (and internal hard drive) and I still get the same endless pinwheel when adding just a few new files. The only other clue I have is that when the importing slowness just started, a third party metatagging application I use (TuneUp) was not recognizing the newly imported files as having been imported by iTunes, whereas I did use iTunes to import.
I am loathe to create a new library altogether as I've done much editing within iTunes to my large collection. (See this article: iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists - Apple Support)
I am using latest Yosemite version (10.10.2) on a 2011 Mac Mini with a recent SSD inside (iTunes worked fine after the SSD upgrade a year ago).

Start by removing "TuneUp." See whether there's an improvement.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

Newbie - Metatag link issues

Hi everybody.
I am brand new to Robohelp and have a question that is
probably pretty easy but cant figure it out. I am working in
Robohelp v7 and trying to add an help topic to an existing project.
I would like to make a link in a topic that I made that will open a
topic in the existing project.
What I tried to do first is create an Alink in the topic but
it said that the page could not be found. Then I tried to create a
redirection topic that basically had a line of code added to the
HTML code that forced it to go to that topic. I added the following
code to the HTML:

It also stated that the link was not found and that it needed
a program to run remote.chm.
Then I put in a link to google and when previewed in
Robohelp, it works. When it is in the program after compiling, it
says the link does not exist.

Is there something that I need to do other than just putting
in this link? Is there a better way to do this? I really appreciate
the help that you give. Thanks in advance for helping out a

I think I figured it out. Instead of linking through
metatags, I created a hyperlink that points to a remote URL. The
only tricky part of that was the copying of the file to the new
project folder and decompiling the exisitng project to know what
naming convention I need to use. Onto the next step. Hopefully this
may help the next guy with this problem.

As far as SEO is concerned, the title tag is the most important. The meta tag, or keywword tag, is not given much importance by Google anymore due to overuse and abuse but may be worth including for other search engines.
The title tag can be added in iWeb but, since it is mostly useless without a meta description, its better to use the freeware iWeb SEO Tool to add this stuff...

Inserting metatags into RSS feed

I am podcasting with garageband and using iweb 06 to publish to my site at mac.com. I cannot find any info on how to insert code (I want to submit a summary and photo logo to itunes - I have all the code, metatags, etc ready to go) into my RSS feed from iweb 06.
All the other web packages I use, allow me to access and code in html. Is that just not possible in iweb 06?
I submitted my podcast to itunes and it just used that episode's artwork and no summary. It's a bust!

Metatags Bindable, CollapseWhiteSpace and Inspectable

Hi,
I'm working with a TextArea and got stuck at the setter and
getter functions.
I've researched the documentation, some books and google, but
I couldn't find the answers for some questions.
1 - Is there any difference between:
[Bindable(event="change")] and [Bindable("teste")] ? Which one?
2 - When adding the event property to the BINDABLE metatag,
the binding will only occur when this event is dispached, correct?
3 - The [CollapseWhiteSpace] tag is used to remove the white
spaces of the return and parameter variables, correct?
4 - I've understood the [INSPECTABLE] concept, but couldn't
understand the real use and result of using this tag. For example:

return textArea ? textArea.text : _text;
Which would be the diferece in using or not using the
inspectable tag?
5 - As the get text() and the set text() are overloaded
methods, metatags preceeding the getter method will work also for
the setter methods (which is defined right after the getter

I know that those are pretty basic questions, but my research
fonts wheren't "for dummys", so I would be very happy if someone
would answer them.

Added new field to cube but data not passed from DSO

(BI 7.0) We added new fields into a cube. The fields already existed in the DSO. When we ran the process chain in development for the first time after making this change, we notice that the 'historical' data for these fields is populated in the cube. When we do this in our quality system only new data passed to the cube is updated. In development in the sub-chain DTP request we see all previous requests listed under selections. In quality it is only the latest request. The only difference is that the DeltaInit flag in the DTP request in development is ticked (extraction mode) - but not in quality. Does anyone know whyb this is?

Adding fields to cube doesn't affect delta status...The delta DTP should be able to handle delta requests automatically.
I guess in you quality system, the cube already got all requests updated from ODS before you importing the change request. And in develop system none of the requests in ODS were updated before the change.

Adding data mid-month?

HI, i recently just switched to verizon and so far i have loved it. But now im running into an issue and itseems almost impossible to get ahold of anyone via phone for support so im going to try this way.
I am mid way through my month and i have ran out of data. I want to add more to my account so my phone will have internet again. How do i do this? I have added more data packages but that hasnt solved the issue, i still have no internet. I use my phone for work alot and need to have internet the remainder of the month. Can someone please tell me how to go about getting internet on my phone until my plan renews in two weeks.

I am happy to hear that you are loving the service. Welcome to the Verizon Wireless family. But let's get to work on the issue at hand today. With the iPhone can you please go into Settings, General, Scroll to the bottom and tap on Reset, then do reset network settings. This will not delete any of your personal information. All of your pictures, contacts, apps, and music will still be on the phone. Then re-try the network out. Please keep us posted.
