Adding more memory for windows

I used bootcamp to install Windows. I need to add more Memory for windows now. Is this possible or do I have to uninstall and reinstall Windows again? Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,

Is there anyway of adding more memory to an iPod touch as I am running out of space.
    Thank you

It's annoying because the amount of memory apple advertise is not actually all for you to use. I bought an 8g iPod thinking it would be enough but didn't realise 2g of the 8g is already used for you!

  • How do I get more memory for my Macbook Pro Spring 2010 13-inch with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo?

How do I get more memory for my Macbook Pro spring 2010 13-inch with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Apple says no memory currently available for that model. I have 4 GB memory and 3.99 used. Help!

Now I'm confused. This is the one Crucial told me to get:
    CT3309356 - 4GB DDR3 PC3-8500 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V 512Meg x 64
    $45.99
Also what do you mean that actual memory is 16GB but with Apple it's 8?
When I go to the "About this Mac" it says Memory 4G 1067 MHz DDR3, then when I go to System Report it says
     Memory Slot
    Bank 0/ DIMM0 2G DDR3 1067 MHZ OK
    Bank 1/ DIMM0 2G DDR3 1067 MHZ OK
Sorry I'm clueless. Just don't want to buy something that messes up my machine more than it already is.
The Crucial site appears to have recommended the correct spec 4gB RAM stick for your model. Please note that you will need to remove the existing sticks of RAM to install new, so you will need 2x4gB to get to 8gB.
When your model of computer was designed/built, it was tested with readily available 2x4gB (8gB). After release RAM retailers have tested it with higher amounts, and Apple didn't update their quoted specs.

  • What are the best UK sites for buying more memory for iMac?

Here is the info on my current imac:
    Mac OS X version 10.5.8
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Hi, does your MacBook have Firewire, or just USB?
FW is far faster if you have that.
    Avoid Bus powered ones.

  • Adding more memory to Macbook Pro

    Hi Guys
I own a 13 inch Macbook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 which currently has 4GB of memory. It often seems to run quite slowly, so I was wondering whether it might be worth upgrading the memory on it. Based on what I've read online, it seems the way to tell if you could benefit from more memory is to look at page ins/outs. Compared to what I've seen online mine seem to be quite high.
I wondered if you guys could advise as to whether or not I could benefit from some additional memory? Would I actual notice any improvement in the performance of my MBP If I were to add more?
    Thanks in advance!
    George

General rule is if page outs exceed 10% to 15% of page ins, you can use more memory for the programs you run. In the picture you posted, essentially page outs = page ins. You can use more memory.
Your 2011 MBP can use up to 16GB of memory. Recommend installing in matched pairs, ie 2 x 4GB, for slightly better performance. OWC and Crucial are two good sources.

  • IbookG3 wont recognize memory stick or burn disks after adding more memory

I recently added more memory to my old ibook. Now when I put my memory stick in either USB ports nothing comes up on the desktop. I also can't get anything to burn onto disc. Any ideas?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried removing the RAM to see if those capabilities return to the iBook?
How big is the hard drive and how much space remains available on it?

  • What if I chose the 250Gb memory for windows but I want to take away from Makos 50 Gb but I do not want reboot windows

What if I chose the 250Gb memory for windows but I want to take away from Makos 50 Gb but I do not want reboot windows

If I understand you correctly, you are asking how to resize your partitions for MacOS and Windows (Boot Camp) you don't want to reboot the computer to do it.  If that is correct, then I don't know of any way for you to do what you want.  In order to resize the partitions, you will need to reboot the OS that is running from the partitions, preferably exit the OS, resize the partitions, then restart the OS, so it has a clean view of the disk.

  • Buying more memory for T530

I would like to purchase more memory for my T530. Someone at IBM once told me they find that certain memory works better with the T530 than others and suggested a particular brand. Does anyone know what that is? thanks

I have owned several Thinkpads over the years and always buy Crucial RAM whenever I needed to upgrade the RAM.
Use the Crucial Memory tool to find the compatible modules.

  • Adding more memory...

Hello everyone. I currently own a 15" MacBook Pro w/ a single 512MB RAM. I use a lot of Adobe products (I'm a Graphic Design major), and unforetunately they all run under Rosseta. Now, I don't know if it's hella slow because of Rosseta, or the memory that I currently have. Do you guys feels that it might run faster if I ad more memory, or those it not matter because it's running under Rosseta? Another question is: if I istall windows on my MacBook Pro, would it be better to just run the windows versions? Thanks to whoever can solve this for me.

    hi -
adding memory helps everything, the finder, apps under rosetta, everything. depending on how much $$ you have available, a 2nd 512MB stick would really help.
even better, but more expensive (~$250) would be to remove the 512MB stick and put in two 1GB sticks... yeeeeeehhhhaaa!
re: the second question.... if you boot into Windows via Bootcamp, and install the latest versions of the adobe apps under that windows partition, they might indeed run faster. not all adobe products are universal binary now, so rosetta will be involved until they become UB...
maxxing out your memory will certainly help rosetta. but still there's an emulation layer there that isn't there if booting into WinXP via bootcamp.
if you interested in the maximum possible graphics performance under windows, you should go the bootcamp route, not Parallels.... Parallels is fine for a lot of things, but intensive graphics isn't one of them...
    cheers

  • Do I need more memory for Parallels/Vista?

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro with a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 1 GB 667 MHz RAM running 10.4.10.
I installed Parallels 3.0 and Windows Vista. I also need to install Office. I would like to have Leopard installed once I am sure Parallels works with it (the Parallels people tell me I should wait a few weeks).
The problem is that when Parallels is running my Mac is sloooooowwwww as molasses in January. Last week it ran like a breeze but this week it's so slow I have to wait 2 minutes for my mouse to respond. The difference being that this week, I actually need to run applications.
Will upgrading the RAM take care of the problem, or will it do nothing for me?

I can vouch for this. Vista is a memory pig. Expect it to use over 512MB of RAM while idling. I've also tried running Windows XP in Parallels on an iMac with 1GB of RAM. With few applications running in OS X, and only doing updates in XP, all available memory is eaten up, and the machine acts like a dinosaur. In my opinion, to effectively run Parallels with Windows 2000 or above, _at least_ 1.5GB of system RAM is required. Anything less, and you're either gimping Windows (by assigning too little memory to the virtual machine) or the entire system (by assigning more memory).
On another note, if you're going to run anything remotely intensive (video or photo editing, or game playing) use Boot Camp instead.

  • Freeing up memory for windows

As I was deleting some un-needed programs on my computer to free up some memory on my hard drive, I came across 3 Ipod for Windows Programs dated 01/10/2006, 10/13/2005, and 9/06/2005. The first two averaged 200mb of ram, and the third was 100mb. Neither of these three are Itunes or QuickTime themselves because those two are listed separately down the list and only consume about 30mb. Exactly what are these three programs? Are they updated firmware for my Ipod? Can I delete all of them, or keep just the most recently dated one. The reason I’m asking is that I would hate to delete them and having my Itunes and music database corrupted. Any thoughts would be appreciated. In addition, I’m in no mood to burn 10 cds to backup all my music.

well i can't be sure, but i beleive those may be te installers for itunes, if your worried about deleting then you could move them to a CD, delete them and see if anything happens, you can even save the CD for music later on by not formatting it once you've burned the files to it. formatting a CD make the files accessable to other computers or peripherals...i think. uhh, maybe it's not worth the risk, just format it. anyway that'll clear up the memory unless you need to put it back on

  • Getting ms word and more memory for iBook

I just got a used iBook 10.4. It doesn't have ms word. The problem is, it only has 640 MB capacity and i'm worried that getting word will take up too much space. Are there any tricks to expanding the memory? and does anyone have any idea how much more memory i'll be able to get from a mac store?

Memory on a Mac is a combination of RAM chips and 'virtual memory' on your hard drive. You need space in both.
Heat was a problem with some iBooks, but if your's is still running, it's likely OK. Your computer can be fit with 1.12 to 1.5 GB of chip memory, and more disk memory than it needs. If Apple no longer carries your memory type, consider a quality online fix-it shop, or do it yourself. (Buy a book and learn about your Mac.)
    Also, consider the free NeoOffice,
NeoOffice (look around for PPC variety)
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15797/neooffice
It's a complete office suite; and Microsoft XML format (for Word) was supposed to be called OpenOffice XML format. NeoOffice is a smaller and more reliable version of OpenOffice.org. (Watch for the .org: it's the free one.)
