Adding more than the recommenced RAM...

I have an iMac 17in Flat Panel 800MHz with 256MB of Apple installed RAM (with an open slot for user installed RAM). The maximum recommended total RAM is 1GB. Can you put a 1GB pc133 144pin SODIMM in the user installable slot? Is this a bad idea to have the total RAM (1.25GB) more than the recommended total of 1GB? Thanks your your thoughts and suggestions.

Is there another way to determine if the memory is really 512 but just not registering correctly with the imac, is it possible the mac doesn't display the correct memory or did I just get taken on ebay?
Either that device is a 256 MB device or it is incompatible with your iMac and is being incorrectly identified as a 256 MB device.
Either situation means that you need to return the RAM to the seller.

Hi, this computer works fine with Ubuntu (10.10, Unity makes it a dog ), unusably slow with Vista, and who knows about Win7.
If you have successfully added more RAM than the 2gigs which supposedly is the max, let me know how it went. 4 gigs would make things so much better.

Adding more than 4GB of RAM to a 1.6GHz PPC

Can I add an additional 2GB RAM to this machine? The DIMM slots are currently full with 4GM RAM but there is room to install 2 more DIMM slots and add the RAM to those. The question is - will the computer recognize the additional RAM? The specs say 4GB RAM max.
Any ideas?

Where would there be any room for more???
You can't use DIMMs of 2GB
Some G5 1.8DP had 8 DIMM slots but not 1.6SP

A problem about the policy of RMS which is added more than 500 principals

Hello specialists ,
    I've a question about RMS , when I added more than about 500 principals (users & groups ) into a policy in the RMS , it will report an error for any operation about the policy , and I find the error message as followed (for theconvenience, I paste all of the logs in the weblogic).
   We have tested all of our environments : Weblogic , JBoss , Websphere , each of them makes the same mistake . those operations include : try to open the documents protected by this kind of policies , to disable or enable the policies, to look the detail from the "adminui" . when decreasing the principals for this kind of policy to almost 450 (I am not sure the clearly number) with java code , the results will be ok .
   So anyone can help me ? It's really very important for us , becuase our customer refused to pay the left money of this project till this problem is resolved . and I have reported this problem to the Enterprise Support in Indian (the case is :181916446), but , obviously , it seems they are burning my patience . At the same time , I think it's a problem of the product , I think the SQL is really very bad ,at least , not so good .
   Any help will be very appreciated !

Adding more than recommended RAM?

I have a late 2006 model Macbook (13.3 inch Black) running Leopard (Mac OSX 10.5.8). Specifics: 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. It is running slowly and freezes/crashes programs (notably MS Word 2008 v. 12.3.5 and iTunes 10). Thinking about getting 4GB of RAM to put off having to buy a new computer. But Apple does not recommend more than 2GB of RAM for this model. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1651#link3. But has anyone else upgraded the RAM and been fine?
I need something that can run iTunes, MS Office, and iLife reasonably well with a minimum of freezing or crashing. I am a music student finishing up my doctorate and need these programs to work well! Perhaps it's just time to upgrade to a new computer? My 2006 Macbook is still plugging along, so I'm hesitant to upgrade unless I have to...
I have 39GB free and 72GB used. Most of my information is stored on my 1TB WD external.

Here's a screen shot of the activity monitor - I'm sure it's very high because I'm using Sophos to scan for anything untoward. I'm not sure how to do a crash dump, though. I can get into Library/Logs/CrashReporter and see individual logs. But the last log is from 3/1...and iTunes alone has crashed probably at least 5x today.
Would 3gb give enough space to the computer to make it worth the effort?

Confirmed quantity more than the ordered quantity in sales order.

Hi All,
We have a situation wherein the confirmed quantity is more than the ordered quantity.
a.) SO was created for qty1.Two schedule lines were proposed as stock was not available.
b.) When stock came in and most probablly, when the rescheduling job calling tcode V_V2 was run, both the schedule lines were confirmed.
c.) As a result, further processing is not done by system as confirmed quantity is more than ordered quantity.
Also we noticed that double schedule line was confirmed for a another order even without the rescheduling job is run.
Can you please suggest as to why this is scenario is occuring and how we can avoid the reoccurence? Thanks in advance!!

Generally two schedule lines will take place if stock is not available in your plant or if open orders are there for that material also. So check the stock in MMBE
.If there are any backorders then it might be getting added in the created sales order and then you might be getting in two schedule lines

Adding More than one document to a cell in a dataform

Hi All,
I am using EPM 11.1.1.1.0 .
I have a planing application and I need to add three documents to a cell in a data form.
Is there a way i can do this...
I can add one document and can open it as well but did not find a way of adding more than one document. Is it supported on Hyperion Planning ?
Also if we have a document attached to a cell text ...Is there a way to print it out from Hyperion Planning or Workspace?

Hi,
I believe it will be just one document, I say that because when you go to the cell and choose open document then it is aimed at opening just one document.
As for printing from cell text, you would have to open the document first before being able to print.

More than 1.25GB RAM

I have a 12" G5 1.5GHz PowerBook with 512MB RAM.
1) Can I upgrade the RAM to more than 1.25GB? I'm sure this was the limit imposed on it by Apply when I bought it - or was this just due to 1GB being the maximum available at the time?
2) Will I notice a vast increase in performance if I upgrade the RAM?

Never skimp on RAM. It will only do you good. Never do you bad, unless you have bad RAM installed. My recommendation is getting Samsung brand RAM and make sure they label it as "Apple OEM." The other is Micron brand RAM and it has this stylized "M" logo on it. These are the two manufacturers that Apple has gone to over the years and you'll find it inside their machines.

Adding More than 30 Blank Pages in Editor

I have never had any trouble adding more than 30 blank pages in Photoshop Editor. Usually on page 29 or 30 instead of clicking add a blank page I'll click the option underneath it to add a blank page using that layout and it'll let me make blank page ad intinitum. Is there something I have to click or do? Jeannie

I don't think in Photoshop 8 PSE that you can create more
than 30 pages at a time. However in Photoshop 7 PSE you
can create page 31 if at page 30 you click create another blank
page using this format. But it does not work in Photoshop 8 unless
there is some answer other than this one.

Some country's might not include tax in their prices, and if you changed or added your credit card details whilst making the purchase then a small temporary holding charge may also have been placed - in which case that should disappear within a few days (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702). Some apps also then allow you to make in-app purchases (though you can disable that via Settings > General > Restrictions)

The information about VM Buffering in Photoshop CS3 is confusing at first glance.
First it says it gives PS access to about 8GB RAM and speeds things up, then it says it slows things down.
What might be the short recommendation on 2008 Mac Pro 2.8 8-core, 4 internal SATA (no RAID), 10.5.2 Leopard, 14GB RAM?
Files range from 20MB-1GB.
Should I be using these plugins?

As long as we're clear on what "use" means. The primary function of the VM buffers is to put as much scratch data as possible into RAM, instead of using the normal and much slower scratch hard disks you set in Preferences. That means if you are using a file so small that Photoshop wouldn't need to swap out to the scratch files, you may not see it take much high RAM. Also, my understanding is that because buffering is only about scratch files, it does not help provide more RAM to calculate a single operation, such as a running a complex filter on a very large layer. But if you never see "out of RAM" errors (and most people don't, because Photoshop is already well optimized), you don't need to worry about having enough RAM for operations. You only need to be concerned about using any extra available RAM for performance-enhancing memory buffers, and that's what Photoshop takes care of with VM buffering.

You're getting too wound up on the wiggly effect. It's not how real pen&paper sketching works, anyway. If at all, it would be much simpler to use a shape layer path, subdivide it with a zigzag modifier, then slap on a wiggle path modifier and finally reveal everything with a trim paths modifier. Otherwise you can also try this:

Similar techniques using particle systems to draw paths and scatter the residual particles will of course also work. Again, don't get obsessed about that wiggly thing. And if you really must - a wiggle is just a combination of multiple sinus waves with different amplitudes, phases and frequencies Simply adding up multiple Math.sin(time*frequency)*amplitude+phase can give all sorts of patterns.

More than 4GB of RAM in iMac 8,1 under Snow Leopard

I have an iMac 8.1, running under Snow Leopard in 64bits mode (i.e. kernel is in 64 bits). I am wondering if I can install - and use - more than 4GB of RAM now that my iMac is booting in 64bits mode?

"32 bits mode" does not limit Mac OS X to 4GB or 6GB. Mac Pros could go up to 32GB of RAM, even when they were first introduced with Tiger (10.4) as the OS.
The current iMacs use the 32-bit kernel by default (to maintain compatibility with third-party extensions that have not been upgraded yet). However, it is fully capable of running 64-bit processes (system processes and applications) and using as much RAM as the Mac in question is capable of using, whether that is 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB.
So to summarize, the RAM limit is based on the hardware, not the software. This isn't like Windows, where 32-bit Windows has a usable RAM limit of somewhere between 3 and 4GB.

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

You are talking about 30 Firefox Profiles on the same Windows Logon User Account?
I never saw that as a limit myself. I had 53 Profiles at one time, although I haven't done that since Firefox 3.0. It was causing an extended launch time and I started using "remote" Profiles that weren't controlled by the Profile Manager and weren't in the '''profiles.ini''' file; launched by command line.
