Hi Prashant,
In order to add users in a security group, you can open the group, select all the appropriate resources (pressing CTRL key) and add them to the group. There is no other easy way. Otherwise a powershell script could do the job.
For the timesheet manager, if all the 100 resources have the same timesheet manager, you can go to the resource center, select the resources (sorting by resource ID will give you together the latest resources added), bulk edit the resources and select the
timesheet manager for the selected resources.

How to enter a query into a role

We are starting to look at the new analyzer. We cannot find how to Enter a query in a role. In the old analyzer there was a button called this. Where is it in the new analyzer? How to you enter and assign a query to a role?

We have a new concept of authorization where you are no more suppose to assign the query to the role from business explorer.
I am not sure if you have gone through this but see this link a it explains about the new authorization concept that is analysys authorization.

Now we have to create authorization object and use existing SAP autorization objects to assign authorizations...

Adding a Query to a Role

Can anyone please let me know how to add a query to a role in Bw 3.x.

Hi Rajat,
       In the Query Designer tool bar, you will see Create, Open, save, save as, delete and Publlish Icon.Next to the publish Icon, you will see downward arrow. If you click that, then it will show Publish in Role, Publish in portal/.If you click 'publish In Portal' then it will show you roles available and choose the role and save it.
      Or else you can even do in PFCG.
In PFCG, give the role and choose change.
Goto Menu tab. Choose the folder under which you want to save your query, select insert report option and give your report name.

Adding multiple paths into a compound path

If I use the gui to add multiple paths into a compound path all I have to do is select multiple paths and choose Object->Compound Path->Make (or ctrl-8). When I do this then the bottom path which is filled has holes 'punched through' creating a window in the shape of the smaller paths which were on top of the larger one. For example, a large rectangle with a white fill color is the bottom item and two smaller paths are on top. I create a compound path and whatever is below the new compound path shows through in the largest shape of the previous two smaller paths.
If I use JavaScript and create a new compoundPathItem and move 3 paths into it, with the largest being first, then I get a compound path but only the first of the smaller objects creates a transparent space.
Here is a simplified example:
    var grpMask = doc.groupItems['mask group'];
    var compound = grpMask.compoundPathItems.add();
    var pathobj = grpMask.pathItems['bigbox'];
    pathobj.move(compound,ElementPlacement.INSIDE);
    pathobj = grpMask.pathItems['PathLeft'];
    pathobj.move(compound,ElementPlacement.INSIDE);
    pathobj = grpMask.pathItems['PathRight'];
    pathobj.move(compound,ElementPlacement.INSIDE);
In the above example the 'bigbox' path has the left and right paths on top of it but only the left path creates a transparent space in the original box.
I also tried using PLACEATEND instead of INSIDE and grouping the two smaller paths together and moving the group to the compound path.
Merging path items together won't work - I want to keep the original path's closed and intact without drawing a line between them so I can't just add their pathpoints together.
Is move() the best way to add existing paths to a new compound path?

Im at work at the moment so only have access to CS2 where the second script works… The first script worked at home with CS5…

As you can see with this I did not change the polarity of the last path as in this test case I knew it was the largest of the shapes not sure if that had any bearing on my results…?

SQL Query -How2bring multiple results into one field using Formatted Search

i am trying to bring in the results of the field dbo.Lot_ITEM.LOT using a formatted search into a row level using the following query:
SELECT     dbo.LOT_ITEM.LOT
FROM       dbo.DLN1 INNER JOIN dbo.LOT_ITEM ON dbo.DLN1.ItemCode = dbo.LOT_ITEM.ITEM
WHERE     dbo.LOT_ITEM.ITEM=$[DLN1.ItemCode]
however the result of the dbo.Lot_ITEM.LOT field could be more then one value depending on how many lots are assigned for that item
(for example this query would be similar to assigning batch/serial numbers to an item being despatched - as you can choose multiple batches/serials depending on the quantities available and required and then move from the left to the right side of the selection window) if that makes sense!
is it possible to bring in the multiple results into one field? and how can i amend the above query to include this?

just to simplify it (as the query im working with is to do with 3rd party addons) i have used the serial/batchs field instead and used standard demo database fields from SBO 2005 sp01:

The above brings me the relevant results but when i change it to be used in a formatted search:

i cant seem to get it to work - now this may be because the serial number is not allocated until teh record is added to the system, however when this happens i am unable to go back in and manually trigger the query as the delivery note rows cannot be selected!
i think as what im originally wanting an answer for is same as this example, im wanting to know if this is even possible?

Adding multiple same-name nodes from one xml into another

Following on from my question the other day (Adding multiple different nodes from one xmltype into another), I now have a slightly more complex requirement that I cannot work out where to start, assuming that it's something that can reuse some/all of yesterday's work (thanks again, odie_63!). So we're going with the second method, but I've discovered that the "$i/name" node is not always present. When that happens, I would like to use a default value (for example, "george"). I promise I've searched and searched, but I'm completely failing to turn up anything that sounds remotely like what I'm after (seriously, I can't believe my google-fu sucks this badly!).
Is there a simple way of doing it? The only thing that I've found that looks vaguely relevant is "declare default namespace...." but I'm not sure that that's the correct thing to use, or if it is, how I'm supposed to reference it when populating the attribute value.

BI for NW04S: Concatenating multiple chars into one field in BI query

Hi,
We have BI for NW04S. We have a requirement of concatenating multiple characteristics into one field in the BI report. This single field should have the usual drill down and other olap functionalities that a single characteristic usually enjoy in a BI report.
In BI for NW04 (Not the S) this probably can be done using the table interface in WAD. However in BI7 WAD functionality are through Java.
Also can this be done using Query designer alone.

Can you please elaborate on your Query designer option. You can always have a variable and in the user exit can write code, but what is not clear that
1> How will you acheive the contatenation done for every row of the report in the BEX user exit variable( since it's called during the beginning of the query execution and not for all rows of the report
2> How do you transfer the char variable into a char field in the report.

Trouble adding multiple parameters to Command Query

<p>I am trying to calculate the calendar days each unit is in use. For each job a unit has a arrival date and a departure date. A unit may work on more than one job in a day, or on 1 job for more then 1 day</p><p>For example the table look like this, if I have unit #10 and it works as follows<br />Unit Job Arrival Departure<br />10 1 Jan 1 Jan 1<br />10 2 Jan 2 Jan 3<br />10 3 Jan 3 Jan 3<br />10 4 Jan 5 Jan 6 <br /><br />And I want my report to show<br />Unit Days worked<br />10 5<br /><br />So the Unit actually works on 5 days beween Jan 1 and Jan 6. I am able to write a query to get this information but I am having trouble creating this in Crystal Reports XI. I have tried adding my query to the report using "add Command" however when I try to replace my hard coded dates with parameters, I am able to add 1 parameter (From Date) but when I add the (To Date) paramater I get an error "Failed to retrieve data from database ORA00911- Invalid Character" I'm not sure why it doens't allow me to add the second date parameter. I don't know if there is a better wa to do this within Crystal reports itself.</p>

Combining multiple lists into a single list

I have created 5 different lists within the same sharepoint site. These lists have some common fields among them for example each list has same fields such as "Country", "Unit", "Review Name" etc. I now want to create a single
list that will have show only the common fields present in each list. Could you please advise if this can be done and if so how?

To have a full fledged synchronization between 5 lists will be very complicated.
If the 6th list is a read-only / view only, I would recommend you to create Lists 1, 2,3,4 and 5 as a custom content type.
Then you can put a Content Query Web Part that filters out your custom content type and combines the content from the three lists.
or create a workflow to update the data when new item is added in other lists

Adding Multiple Records with Express

Hello All,
We have a CRUD application written in Express 2.0 that allows users to
enter part numbers and associated information. Our part numbers are
structured as a prefix, alpha, suffix and 'M' or 'P' number variations :
1 AB 2 P3 for example. We have provided functionality to allow the
user to enter multiple P or M variations all at once, say 1 AB 2 P1 thru
P100,
using a dialog box where they enter the starting number, ending number
and step.
The problem comes in the AddRecordsToSave method.
This method correctly builds the array of BusinessClass needed to be
passed to the Save method, however, the Save method adds only the
initial record (the one from the original Express data entry screen)
to the database.
I have traced the problem to the BusinessClient.Update method called
from
Save. I believe I am missing some query information that should be
built into
AddRecordsToSave, but I am completely unsure of how to provide this.
As you can see in the attached code, we are using the LogAttr method to
post
changes. Apparently this is not enough. What am I missing here?
The InstanceStatus key of the added records is set to ST_EMPTY by
default....
I have tried forcing this to ST_UPDATE, only to receive an error that it
should
be ST_EMPTY......?? I am confused. If anyone can shed some light on this
for me,

Hi There,
If attr is not specified in your LogAttr() call, the
BusinessClass
will be put in the update state but not attributes will
be logged.
That may be the reason why only the displayed record(
fetched from
the DB ) is getting logged, but not the new records.
I think you should use ATTR_SIMPLE with LogAttr. This
will cause
all the attributes to be logged and a proper query to
be built
to insert the newly created record. I am no Express
Guru,
but it works fine for me. Also, try not to modify
InstanceStatus directly.
Sometimes it might lead to inconsistencies. The online
help

Hi,
You need to create one query workbook and rest of the queries you can insert manually from Bex tool -
insert query.
You need to insert query by adding one more tab in the workbook.
Keep in mind only one thing that variable ..if you are going to keep variable it will keep on popping up for user entry in it.
So try to have common variable in the first query and then those value needs to get fed into other query variable as they are running so without any user entry while execution we can see results in all the queries in the workbook.
If you want to insert a query into a new workbook:
Choose the symbol for Open...from the BEx toolbar. This brings you to the screen Open SAP BEx:
Select Queries from the left column.
Select a query from all those available. The queries are arranged according to InfoProviders.
Double-click on the required query or choose OK.
If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell.
If you want to insert a query into a workbook template:
Create a workbook template.
Insert the query into the workbook template.

How do I add multiple images into one file?

I'm sure this is something that's been covered in another post (or even in the help portal) but I think my wording in my search terms are not correct or... I don't know, because I just can't find what I'm looking for.
I want to know how to add multiple images into one file/one image, both horizontally and/or vertically. To give you an idea of what I mean, check out :

But it always return those items whose "Title" value is "Arup". It is not returned any items whose "Title" is "Ratan".

Hi DH, sorry for not being clear.
It works when I create the connection from that web part that you want to be connected with the Query String Filter Web part. So let's say you created a web part page. Then you could connect a parameterized Excel Workbook to an Excel Web Access Web Part
(or a Performance Point Dashboard etc.) and you insert it into your page and add
a Query String Filter Web Part . Then you can connect them by editing the Query String Filter Web Part but also by editing the Excel Web Access Web Part. And only when I created from the latter it worked
with multiple values for one parameter. If you have any more questions let me know. See you, Ingo
