Adding Music To Slideshow In Elements 6

I was able to successfully add ONE song to my slideshow, but when I try to add another song the program just shuts down completely.  Please help!!!

Elements 6.  (Looking to upgrade to either Elements 8 or CS5).  Anyway, I
somehow got one song on there.  It seems it will only allow me to add
certain songs and not others (strange!)  Not sure what to do...it just
crashes the program every single time.  Is something wrong with the
program???

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Adding audio to slideshows using Elements 11 and itunes.

Upgraded to Elements 11 from Elements 9
    Running Windows 7
I am doing a slideshow and would like to add audio from my itunes library.  When I click to add audio and browse my itunes library, nothing shows after I click on the album. In an older version, I would change the file to a WAV file and it would insert fine.  The new itunes does not let me do that anymore onlyl to an AAC file (not sure what that is ) when I try that they say it is protected and can't change it.  How can I add audio files to my slide show using itunes?
    Thanks

Once, iTunes did not have a way to get their music into programs, like PrE, at least not directly.
Back then, the workflow was to go to iTunes, create a Playlist for the necessary iTunes music, then burn THAT to an Audio CD. Once done, one would take that CD into a program, like the free Audacity, to rip the CDA format, then Save_As WAV, choosing PMC/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit. Those WAV files were then Imported into PrE.
At some point in time, they relaxed things a bit, and many had no issues with a direct Import from iTunes.
Now sure what they are doing now, but many like using music from other sources, rather than iTunes.
Neale has linked to a conversion application, however I have never used it. OTOH, if Neale recommends it, then it should work just fine.
Also, according to Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/supported-file-formats-premiere-elements.html, AAC is a supported Audio Format.
As I seldom use any music from other sources, beyond SmartSound, I have not stayed current on how iTunes works.
    Good luck,

  • Problem adding music to slideshow in lightroom 5

In Lightroom 5, i am having trouble with putting music to the slideshow.  I can upload the music, however it won't let me check the duration of the song, and therefore add it.  Any help would be great.

    Don
Then the problem is at the iTunes end. I would post that on the iTunes forum.

  • Adding Music to Slideshow

I'm trying to add more than one song to a slideshow. I've read many places that you just need to create a playlist in itunes and then pull in the playlist from iphoto. I've created a playlist in itunes but when I click the music icon in iphoto, I only have access to individual songs in itunes--no access to playlist. I do not know why I can't see the playlist. Can anyone help with this?

Once you click on the slideshow button in the bottom of the iPhoto window the slide show should start. As you move your mouse to the bottom of the screen in the slide show you can see the onscreen control appear. Click on the Gear icon in the onscreen controls. Then select the Audio Tab in the window. Now select iTunes Playlists from the Source drop down.

  • How do I get music from itunes into my slideshow in elements 10

What is the procedure to get music from itunes into a slideshow in elements 10?

If your music is in iTunes own format, you'll need to convert it first. Elements works best with .wav files. Here is the Apple article on making conversions:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format.

    Welcome to the forum.
However, this is the Photoshop>General Discussions forum, and does not cover either Elements program, Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, or their Elements Organizer.
If you can please let us know exactly which of the Elements program you are using (either Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, through the Elements Organizer), a MOD can Move your post to the appropriate forum, where you will get quick answers.
Also, additional music can be Imported into several of the Elements programs, but knowing exactly which you are using, will dictate the instructions.
Good luck, and please let us know more.

  • I would like to create a slide show and then burn to a DVD.  I may be interested in adding music.  Should I use iPhone, iMovie or a simple Powerpoint?

I am going to be creating a slide show and then burning it to a couple of DVDs.  I have used PPT in the past for simple slide shows for speaking engagements, but I am interested in adding music to this slide show.  What is the best/easiest application to use?  iMovie, iPhoto or Powerpoint?
    Thanks!
    Mike

burning it to a couple of DVDs
Is it your intention to create video DVDS that can be played on TV sets via DVD players?  If so you'll need a video DVD authoring application like iDVD.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Problem adding audio to slideshow

I created a slideshow in Elements 8 with no problem.  I added several tracks of audio that fit well.  I learned that I needed to have Elements Premier to publish it to a DVD.  I downloaded the trials of Photoshop Elements 10 and Photoshop Elements Premier 10 and created the slide show again.  However I can not get the audio correct.  When I add the first song it takes up the entire slide show.  I add three more songs and they are just added on past the slide show which is 16 minutes long.  When I click to match the slides to the audio it tells me that the show is over 24 hours long.  I have unchecked the option to repeat the sound track until the end and cannot figure out what I need to do.  I know it is something probably simple but I can't seem to figure it out.  The audio files are MP3.  Can anyone tell me how to get the program to accept the song for its correct length?

There are actually a number of ways (at least 4) to create a slideshow in Premiere Elements, and without knowing which of those methods you're using it's hard to comment specifically.
But if you're building your slideshow on the Premiere Elements timeline, first make sure you're in Timeline mode. Then, when you add your audio track, hold down the Ctrl key. This will allow you to place the audio on a parallel track, below the video/slideshow. If you don't hold down the Ctrl key, the audio will be inserted -- which means that it will drop onto the timeline and push all of the video/slideshow to the right -- which is what sounds like is happening to you.
BTW, the trial of the program has a number of limitations, including limitations on its ability to render. In other words, you probably won't be able to output a video or DVD of the slideshow you create in the trial version of the program. Just a word of warning before you put too much time into it.
And I would also recommend you convert that MP3 into a WAV file using a program like Audacity (free). It will save you some headaches in the long run. Also, when you see red lines above the clips on your timeline, press Enter to render the timeline. (When rendered, the red lines will turn green.)
Lots more headache-saving tips like this in my books, if you're interested.

  • No Music in Slideshow

    Team,
I recently put together a beautiful slideshow with awesome music over the weekend for a funeral and it went perfectly!
Now, I'm putting together another slideshow, and I can't seem to get the music to work this time. I've tried an MP3 I have, Purchased music from Itunes, the Sample music, and the music does not go when I hit Play.
When I run the prior slideshow - it works perfectly. Tried re-booting (ok, worked before I became a mac head) Any suggestions?

    Well, I don't think I found a root cause.
However the problem went away when I added a new slideshow and re-made my deck. No fun duplicating work, but the problem went away.
I figured I'd post my fix in case someone else searches for this problem.

  • Touble adding music to slide shows

Having real trouble adding music to slide shows.
Files are MP3 where is says compresser decompressor (Codec) error
CD music files are not recognised
Have elements 8 but loaded a trial of elements 12 and same result
Can load music in premier as a project but not in photoshop / organiser
Cannot save project as a DVD which you can do in photoshop elements 8
Can anyone give advice - spent hours if not days trying things out.

Try the free Audacity software (Google it) and convert the .MP3 files to .WAV files. .WAV are uncompressed and most Adobe products can handle them natively without the need for external codecs.

    Neale

  • Help Needed!  I have created a 13 Min Slide Show in iPhoto (iMac Mavericks) but am having problem with adding music.

I created a 13 min Slide Show in iPhoto but have a question on adding music.  I would like to add music clips that are set to change at the beginning of certian slides so that there is a varity of music during the show rather than a continuous theme clip.  I know you can add multiple clips but can you pin them to change at a particular point in the program?  Right now the music clips just run to their time limit and the next one starts.  Isn't there a way to edit them the way it can be done in iMovie? Its frustrating to be able to create a nice slide show and not be able to manage the music background.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

No, you don't have that fine grained control of the soundtrack in iPhoto. It's designed for a quick job, not a complex one.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • Synching slides to music beat in Premier Elements 3.0

I'd like to synch up slides to the beat of added music in Premier Elements 3.0. The help section seems to suggest that this can be done, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Can someone kindly walk me through the process?

Thank you guys for your suggestions, which I appreciate very much.
I did solve the problem of precisely synching up my slides manually to the beat of the music by double clicking on the music timeline, which brings up a Preview box showing the music graphically. By expanding the Preview box, vertically and horizontally (quite large), I'm able to very precisely locate the beat of the music. There are still so many capabilities in the software that I have yet to learn.

Have you looked at Delete and Close Gap as well as Delete for what you describe?
Nonetheless, adding or moving clips to an existing Timeline content without disturbing the existing Timeline content can be challenging and complex under certain scenarios.
Typical solutions include making these moves with a keyboard modified held down (Windows Alt or Ctr). I am strictly an Elements Windows user, so we will need to find the Mac counterparts for the Windows keyboard modifier techniques.
Also, if one move triggers a multi-chain disaster, then you should consider grouping block of clips so that they do not move while you are busy with your Timeline maneuvers. Check out the Clip Menu options for Group and Ungroup.
Some times in the "Mac condition", you need to use fn in addition to the command to achieve some of these Windows counterparts.
The following video tutorial on arranging clips and keyboard modifiers is being posted for informational non promotional reasons.
Premiere Elements: Arranging clips on the Timeline using modifier keys | lynda.com - YouTube
It is demo'd with Premiere Elements 8, but the principles are the same for later versions of the program.
Here is one variation of the issue on Windows.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE: Delete and Close Gap Failures
You should not have to delete audio to prevent it from being split by an addition to an existing Timeline. The keyboard modifiers should help you resolve this type of issue.
    Please review and consider.
    Thanks.
