Adding namespace server and replicating folder structure

Not sure if this is the correct forum. @mod, please redirect if applicable.
When adding a second or subsequent Namespace server to a DFS Root, how is the virtual folderstructure replicated when that server is added?
The folder-targets are stored in AD under the System container. However, folders (to create a sensible hierarchy) are not stored in AD. Where do they come from when a new Namespace server is added ?

As for your second question review the answer below.
Stand-alone and domain-based DFS namespace servers store DFS-related information in the registry. All namespace servers also store a copy of the namespace structure on a local volume on the server in DFS root folders and link folders as follows.

  • How to import files and convert folder structure to collections hierarchy?

My RAW files are organised on disc by date, e.g.

I would like to batch import these into Lightroom (Lightroom CC) and have the folder structure above replicated in Collection Sets and Collections (i.e. one collection set for each year, and within each one have a collection set per month, and within that individual collections for the folders)
Is there a way to make this happen automatically?

    Hi.
Trash the iPhoto Library folder that you created on your Mac, or rename it "iPhoto Library damaged" if you may need some of its contents. Copy the iPhoto Library folder from the backup into your Pictures folder. Hold down the Option key as you launch iPhoto and select "Choose Library" from the dialog. Navigate to the good iPhoto Library folder and open. iPhoto should launch and open your library in exactly the same condition it was in when the backup was made. If all goes well you don't have to import anything.
If the library is still missing items, you can try a database rebuild. Hold Command and Option while you launch, select the first 3 options in the dialog, and rebuild. This can fix a library with a slightly damaged database.
If the library still isn't working you may have to create a new library (Option-Launch, select "Create") and import your Originals folder from the backup library. This will give you the pictures back without creating duplicates, but your albums and other items will not be recovered.
    Regards.

  • How do I move photos in a Smart Collection and keep folder structure?

HI there I am on a trial of Lightroom and loving it so far.  One seemingly simple task I would like to try out is moving all my RAW files (which are all mixed up with JPGs and PSDs to a new location and keep the current folder structure.
Currently I have files strcutured like this: <main disk>\<year>\<month>\<filename>.cr2 and I would like to move these to <different disk>\<year>\<month>\<filename>.cr2
The Export functions look as if they will put them all in to one big folder?  Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance.

There are several approaches to this problem. You could do this via the Folders panel in LR. You can do just about everything in the Folders panel that you can do in Explorer or Finder. Just create folder and drag and drop.
Another way is to do this outside LR use Explorer (Windows) or FInder (Mac). after you're done then go back into LR and tell LR where to find the moved files. Depending on how many you have this could be a bit tedious.
Another method is to choose the files you want then Export them as a Catalog. When you do this be sure to include the option to export the negatives. Point the new catalog at you other drive. It will recreate the folder structure during the export. Then remove the images from your present catalog. Don't delete from disk just remove. Now import from catalog and choose the newly exported catalog. This time choose the option to add the files without moving them. Once you are sure everything is back and is fine you can use Explorer or Finder to go into your original file structure and delete the files that were moved to the new drive.  Be careful to only choose the moved files. If you are separating the RAWs out this should be relatively easy.
    I hope that helps!

  • Sharing (Exporting) and keeping folder structure - possible?

I have been amassing a collection of family pictures going back into the 19th century. They are stored in iPhoto in folders by year (e.g. 1967 is a separate folder). I would like to export this as files but keep the folder structure so that relatives can just look in the 19xx folder for all the pictures from that year. Is there any way to export pictures and maintain the file structure used in iPhoto? If this doesn't work exporting original format photos is there any way to export from iPhoto and have it reflect that structure (so relatives on Mac or Windows machines can view/use them)?
    TIA

    Arthur,
I have not come across any applescript and I did just search again.
What I did come across was a program called iPhoto Album Extractor. It is really meant to extract albums into a folder from a damaged iPhoto Library that cannot be opened.
i downloaded it and tried it out to see if it would be a faster way to get your year albums exported. It is really quite fast.
Download the program and open it.
Choose the path by navigating to the iPhoto Library folder and choosing it.
Your albums will quickly be displayed in the left column.
Make a new folder on your desktop and label it albums.
Now highlight the album in the left column and choose "extract"
In the next window choose the folder on the desktop and then hit open.
The images in the album will be extracted/copied into a folder with the name of the album into that folder on the desktop. It is really quite fast. I did this while iPhoto was closed.

  • Copy playlist to usb-stick and keep folder structure

Is there an easy way to copy a playlist from iTunes to a USB-stick (for use in the car)? The folder structure of artist > album> track should be kept.
If you simply use drag and drop, iTunes copies all songs into one folder.

    "Files to Folder Scripts
This is a collection of two scripts: Alias Files to Folder... which creates an alias of each file of the selected iTunes tracks in a user-selected location, and Copy Files to Folder... which will copy the files of the selected iTunes tracks to a user-selected location."
It appears the first one  just puts an alias in a single folder.  The second one looks like it copies the files to a single folder which is pretty much what the OP is doing already with dragging.

  • Can I import and keep folder structure?

I have thousands of pics and videos.  I'm willing to buy in to the whole iCloud experience (literally), but in my small experiments, I couldn't see how to import and KEEP the folders containing numerous pics.  For example, if I have 1000s of FAMILY pics, TRAVEL pics, and FRIEND pics, all in separate folders.   Can I import these pics (currently on Onedrive; I assume I can't import direct from Onedrive to iCloud.com?) keeping the separation and folder breakdown I worked so long to organize?  Every attempt I've made, strips the folder and throws all pics in together.  Yes, I know we can use clever tricks like geotags and dates to separate the photos to an extent.  But most of my photos don't contain that metadata.  And moreover, I've already manually done the work to my liking.  Any ideas?

Import your folder structure to iPhoto, and then migrate the iPhoto Library to Photos.
iPhoto will create an event for each folder you import and name it like the folder. You can simply drag the whole folder structure onto the iPhoto icon.
When you open the iPhoto Library in Photos, Photos will create an album for each iPhoto event.

  • Installed Server, Got certificate added in server and Mac keychain. Can't Send Mail

    Hi,
I dove into server tonight. In a fit of overconfidence, I installed it on my main Macintosh as it is the only compatible machine. I wanted to run it while doing other things so i put it on my main login. I got a certificate from my Godaddy account and got it installed on server. I quit server and opened Mail and I cant send mail as it is trying to use the new certificate I believe. I downloaded and added the certificates to keychain and I see them.
The Message: An error occured while trying to sign this message with a certificate from "$%^[email protected]". Verify that your certificate for this address is correct and the private key is on your keychain.
How can I either make the certificate work for mail, add the private key to my keychain or delete the key so that mail uses whatever it was previously using?
    Thanks A Million!

    cPragman,
I surely could be confusing the two. I actually didn't want to do anything with mail in server yet. I installed server. Spent some time trying to get it set up, quit server and returned to my normal (client) work. I tried to send an email from my main account and got an error message in the client mail app referring to the certificate.
The Message: An error occured while trying to sign this message with a certificate from "$%^[email protected]". Verify that your certificate for this address is correct and the private key is on your keychain.
I have had the domain name and the cretificate came in that package. I was not even going to make it available to the outside world for some time. I just wanted the server up so i could practice working with it. I am moving from strictly creative IT (logic, Pro Tools etc.) to an environment that is more corporate and requires a bit of server knowledge. Luckily i have a bit of time to learn about it. i am obviously clueless as of now.
    Sincere thanks for your help.

  • Iphoto6 and directory (folder structures)

Okay - I have been searching the support docs but haven't found a direct answer to this...
When I moved from PC to Mac and imported my digital images (8000+) to iphoto, it completely wrecked my organization. I had everything organized by directory structure, which iphoto basically disregarded. that was just a month ago and since then iphoto6 has come out.
If I reimport with iphoto6, will it honor my existing directory structure? I thought it might since there is now a setting under preferences for "Copy files to iphoto folder library when adding to Library".
Any info anyone can offer would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    grangerc:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you want to maintain your originals in their current folder system you can do so by setting iPhoto to not copy your photo files into it's folder system. Instead iPhoto will created an alias link to the original file in your folder system. Each folder in your system will be "imported" into iPhoto as a roll. You can then use albums and folders in the Source window at left to further organize them if you'd like.
To create a library of this nature have your original files on your boot drive in the location of your choice. Then remove your current iPhoto Library folder to the Trash (don't delete as yet). Now launch iPhoto 6 and when it says it can't find your library choose to create a new one.
Now with iPhoto open go to your folder system in the Finder and begin dragging them folder by folder, or several at a time, into the open iPhoto window. They become rolls in iPhoto. You may find that the roll date seems arbitrary. That's because iPhoto will use one of the modified dates from the files in that folder for the roll. That can be changed by clicking on the roll icon and going to the Info window at the bottom of the Source window and changing the date of the roll manually. That will position the roll in the lists at that date point.
I've created a 1 6,600+ library that way form my original photos on a second internal drive. This way I only have to have one full set of original files, thus saving 20G or more. Good luck.

  • LDAP server and replica's

    Hi all,
Do I need a replica on an OES11 server for a non anonymous LDAP query? At this moment we have four OES2 SP1 servers with replica's on it. One master on server A and three read-write replica's on server B, C and D. A couple of weeks ago we installed an OES11 server, server E, in the same tree but without a replica. If I start a LDAP browser and connect anonymous to server E, I can browse the tree, so LDAP is functionin, but if I connect with username (cn= etc.) and password I got a LDAP error 13.
    Any ideas?
    regards,
    mark

Follow the error message. LDAP error 13 is 'Confidentiality Required'
which means that you cannot bind without using SSL or STARTTLS. Basically
the server is rejecting your bind attempt because you're sending
credentials over the wire without encryption. This is controlled on the
LDAP Group (or maybe Server, but I think Group) object for this server in
eDirectory. The best way around it, though, is to use SSL or the STARTTLS
functionality so that you're not sending credentials across the wire
    without protection.
    Good luck.

  • Runtime Shared Assets and dynamic folder structures

I am using a CMS to load dynamic pages. Most of these pages
have Flash content. The content SWFs all reference a SWF that holds
shared library assets. The CMS undergoes periodic overhauls and the
content gets shuffled. This results in broken links to my shared
    assets.
Does anyone know how to set the shared library URL at
    runtime? Is this even possible?

Perhap you code is executing before the shared library assets are loaded. You need to debug and find out if the shared library asset(s) is loaded ahead.
    Thanks.

  • How do i get my folder structure in Lightroom to replicate my hard drive folder structure?

My issues is that post-import from Aperture, my folder structure in Lightroom does not match my folder structure on my hard-drive.  In particular, rather than be structured as in my hard-drive:
    2015 (folder)
    -> 2015-01-30 (sub folder)
    -> 2015-02-15 (sub folder)
    -> 2015-03-03 (sub folder)
All of the photo folders are listed individually as:
    2015-01-30
    2015-02-15
    2015-03-03
In addition, a number of folders have been created in the form 01a2a201aff9c8c684928629ea41221c0fa5930ab7 where no folder exists on my hard drive in this form and the image contains the right date meta data.
As I've got photos dating back to 2005 and a lot of different days taking photos, this is making the folders view unmanageable.
I completed the Aperture migration in two stages (as i did not have sufficient space to replicate images in move across to Lightroom)
    1.  Moved Aperture original images from being References to Managed (with the file structure above)
    2.  Then used the Lightroom plug in to import the library from Aperture (which has successfully copied across meta data and my folder structure + edits from Aperture)
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  In particular:
    1) Adding in 2015 folder level to structure?
    2) Removing all off the 01a2a201aff9c8c684928629ea41221c0fa5930ab7 folders?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Joe

In the "folders" pane, right-click on the folder you see and select "show parent folder". Repeat as needed.

  • Building a war file with a folder structure

How do a build a war file with a folder structure? I have code that creates JarEntrys and writes jar files and resource files etc. to the war. When I look at the war that gets created using winzip the path names for all the entries are correct and everything appears correct. When I try to deploy this to Tomcat nothing deploys. It appears my war is in a folder structure. How can a build this folder structure in the war? When I look at a good war using BeyondCompare I see folders and files in the folders just like I would see looking at a directory on my system. When I use BeyondCompare to view one of my "bad" war files that I have created everything is in the root. There are no folders and no folder structure. I am using the java.util.jar API to create the war but I don't see any methods or any API that will let me build up any sort of folder structure. It seems like I am missing something basic here.

command is same for creating jar/war/ear.
u simply need to execute jar /? for detail.

  • Restore folder structure in Library Module

The folder and subfolders of the Library module was accidentally removed. The photos are all still in my catalog, just the organized folders are no longer there. The section is blank. The folders are still on my hard drive and the catalog file is fine as well, I just can't seem to restore the folder and subfolder structure back in Lightroom. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks for the response. It was kind of odd. My cat walked across my computer and must have clicked the "minus" sign on the folder section. It removed everything in there including the hard drive leaving the section blank. My photos were fine, all of them there there. Even with the triangle down, it was just blank. I was not able to add any folders or subfolders or connect back to my hard drive. It wouldn't let me import the folders again although it found them in the browser. You could see the folder name along the bottom above the filmstrip and it would jump to the folder in the library but no display in the left pane. I searched a lot of forums but didn't see anything similar. Finally I just exited Lightroom and relaunched that catalog and it restored the link and the folder structure. I guess the easiest fix is just log out!
