Adding new easy setup

I have downloaded some easy setups for FCP from the internet. The site said to add it to the folder
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Pro System Support > Custom Settings
I am looking on my computer and I don't seem to have this file structure. Of course I have the regular stuff but I don't have  Final Cut Pro System Support or Custom Settings folders. I tryed making those folders and then adding the easy setups there but FCP didn't seem to see them. I've searched around and haven't been able to find any more help.
I'm running Studio 3 on OSX 10.6

Either you're looking in the wrong place or your application has not been correctly installed.
Can't add an image but the file path is correct.
I don't know what the regular stuff is by your must have FCP System Support in that folder.

  • Importing new "Easy Setup" preferences? Is it possible?

I am running Final Cut Express HD 3.5.1 on my MacBook Pro (Intel Duo 2.66) with 2 Gb of RAM.
I am attempting to "import" a new "Easy Setup" provided by JVC for the Everio GZ-HD7U. The location of the download is:
    http://software.transdigital.co.jp/products/cbsev/qceng/
However, I can't figure out how to create/import this new "Easy Setup" so that it is an option to select in the the Easy Setup Menu.
    Any thoughts? Thank you.

There's no way to 'import' an Easy Setup in Final Cut Express.
You will be better off using MPEG Streamclip to convert your videos to Apple Intermediate Codec before you try importing them into FCE.

  • Loading New Easy Setups in Final Cut Pro 5

I want to load the extra easy setups for the sequences in Final Cut Pro. Specifically I need to 24p presets. I have located the files but can anyone help me with a tip on how to get these .fcpre files into the program?
    Thanks for any reply!

    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    They are all there.
When you create a sequence, click on the settings menu choice and elect to load preset.
On launch, there is a "show all" button you can check.

  • FCE + Sony HDR-SR12E - Easy Setup ??

    Hi,
Using FCE 4.0.1 with a Sony HDR-SR12E and I understand I need to set the camera from 1920x1080 to 1440x1080 so that FCE is happy. But my question is which settings should I choose on the Easy Setup panel...
    Format - Apple Intermediate Codec
    Use - HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50 or AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1440x1080i50 ??
    Or even something else ?
    Help please - Thanks Billy

    From the Apple's website:
    Added AVCHD Easy Setups
Final Cut Express now includes AVCHD Easy Setups to support ingesting AVCHD footage using the Apple Intermediate Codec. The Easy Setups are:
    AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1440x1080i60
    AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60
    AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1440x1080i50
    AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i50
You no longer need to use the HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setups when ingesting AVCHD footage.
Now, if you live in an area where is in use PAL, choose AVCHD 1920x1080i50.

    Armando.

  • Easy setup for capturing 12 bit Hi8 through a mini DV camera?

    Hi,
I have some old Hi8 tapes that are recorded in 12 bit audio. Unfortunately the easy setup for a converter doesn't seem to let you specify 12 bit audio, so I'm getting awful sync problems. I know I could record all the footage onto mini DV tapes, but is there an alternative? Is there any way of adding an easy setup that would do what I want?

    Dual 2.5 GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCE 3.5HD

If you just use the MiniDV camera in passthrough mode, it will work fine. The audio out of the Hi8 should be analog, which specifies no specific bit depth. So as long as you have your MiniDV set up to 16bit, that's what it will send to the computer.

  • Easy setup setting for NXCAM 1920x1080 25p/50i

Recently I have "upgraded" from Sony HDV to Sony NXCAM*.
Filming in full HD @ 25p.
When importing the footage into FCP and selecting Easy Setup ProRes 422, I can not select frame rate. The "use" field is greyed out and contains the text "HDV-Apple ProRes 422 1080p24"
As the Easy Setup defines the initial settings of the sequence of a new project, each time I have to change the sequence settings manually to match the NXCAM footage.
Question: is there a way to define a new Easy Setup setting? ... or is there another solution?
    regards,
    Coen
    * HXR-NX5

The NXCAM shoots AVCHD. You don't use Easy Setup, but the Preferences dialog in Log & Transfer and set it to transcode to ProRes LT. That footage will adopt the 25fps frame rate of your source footage.
To set the Sequence correctly, simply drop a clip onto the Timeline. You will see a dialog that asks if you want the Sequence to match the clip properties (you do).

  • Added a scanner with Secure Easy Setup and my wireless network has disappeared?

I just replaced my fax/scanner.  I have a secured wireless home network.  I installed the fax/scanner with Secure Easy Setup.  The fax works - but my home network as disappeared!!!  Where did it go?  Do I have to start over and reinstall my whole wireless network?  It took me forever to get it working the first time!  HELP!!!

when u run easilink again it will give you the chance to change some settings wirelessly, it could be that you have changed some settings and missed that part...
you could check that by accessing the set up page of the router 192.168.1.1

  • How can I get a Mac to redo the new machine setup?

    Hey gang-
Is there a way to get a Mac to redo the new machine setup dialogs the way a Mac does the first time it is started out of the box? I'm selling my iBook and it would be nice for the new owner to be presented with that. I know I could do it by erasing and reinstalling the original CDs, but I'd like to include the various incremental Software Updates that I've done to save the new user the trouble.
Is there a way to get a Mac to do this?
    Thanks!
    Dave

John's method may work for the most part, but there are some things to be aware of that might cause problems for you or the new owner.
First, it doesn't get rid of everything you have installed or caused to be created in /Library or any of the caches except those in the /User folder. Some of the /Library items are probably things you want to pass on to the new owner, such as plug-ins that support apps. Some aren't, such as many of the /Library/Preferences items set by an admin user. Some may even contain sensitive data.
Second, you will be passing on a lot of clutter of dubious value to the new user, like logs, & any corruption of files that an Erase & Install would get rid of.
Third, Setup Assistant may or may not be designed to work & play well with updated apps & system components. This is unchartered territory. It may "undo" some of the things you want the new owner to have, or not.
Forth, if you have set up, for example, the Apache web server or any other UNIX-based service that required root or sudo access, these files will not necessarily be in their default state.
Fifth, there may be support items in /Users/Shared for both Apple & third party apps. John's step 4 will erase them.
Sixth, you need to consider OS 9 folders if you have used Classic, particularly if you have migrated anything from an older Mac. You may have user items, preferences, etc. that need to be purged.
Seventh, I probably have forgotten other things that more knowledgeable folk can fill you in on.
So, while it is possible to do what you want, it isn't really as easy as it seems. A better approach, & one that will serve both you & the new owner better in the long run, is to completely wipe the drive with a secure erase. Consider making a "bonus" CD or DVD for the new owner with all the latest updates, as a companion to the original installer set.
Something else to consider: If the Mac that you are putting up for sale did not come with Tiger, you can't include it legally in your sale unless you include the retail DVD & license you used to install it. The same is true of any apps that you might have added to the used Mac, including shareware you payed for. Aside from the ethical implications, you do not want to run into problems because of "shared" registration codes should you need them for support or upgrades.

  • New Awesome setup, a few questions.

    Hello everyone.
Been tinkering away all day on a new lightweight setup using the Awesome WM. I like it a lot, but I have a few simple questions. I've tried searching the forums and the wiki to no avail. Hopefully it isn't because I wasn't looking hard enough!
1.) Background: I've got the background set using nitrogen, I like the tool! But it doesn't stay set on reboot. I'm sure this one is easy, but I can't figure it out. Also, I have to run the tool from a terminal in the directory with the wallpapers. Is there a way to set the default directory it looks for wallpapers at? Does it have one already that I just don't know?
2.) Firefox: It runs well, but there are some UGLIES to sort out. I'm sure GTK2 theme is one of them. The text in the browser looks fine, but the top bar with the tabs and menus has a really ugly font. Any suggested gtk2 themes for the awesome wm? Any good apps for changing them or any good packages with a lot to choose from?
3.) Launcher: is there a way to put "quick launch" style icons on the awesome menu bar?
Sorry if these questions are bone head, I've been slamming my head all day agains the configuration of vim and urxvt and I just don't want to give up. Those things are beasts. I actually ended up ditching urxvt for the xfce terminal and i'm really happy with it.
Any good suggestions for VIM themes?
Just looking to take a break and process some of this stuff before diving back into the config files really. Sorry the questions are a bit scattered, maybe I should have posted this in the newbie corner...feel free to move it!
    Thanks!!

Cool, got the nitrogen thing worked out just fine.
I'm having troubles making vim look right in the terminal. The default color scheme seems to appear correctly...but when I do desert it doesn't look like it does in gvim. I'd prefer to use vim in the console, anyone using the xfce terminal and have vim looking right? any .Xdefaults I could take a look at to get it going right?
    I appreciate the feed back!

The document references posted already are very good ones. However, I would say that on personal experience (on Solaris and 10gR2) that the addnode tools gave me nothing but problems. Luckily, I was able to build a parallel cluster (with three nodes) on other hardware and then move the databases across via DataGuard. It was quicker and cleaner (and easier!) that way...

  • DVD capturing - What setting on Easy Setup?

    Hello,
I'm caputuring video from my DVD player which is : connected RCA to a Canopus converter box : out firewire and into the Macbook.
When I capture the video, I get the message saying "Audio/Video rate may not match sample..." after I'm finished capturing.
I have no idea which setting in Easy Setup to choose from.
It is currently set at: DV - NTSC 32 kHz
    Any suggestions?

If you are capturing via a box like the Canopus ADVC-110 (any model, actually), you should use the DV NTSC DV Converter easy setup. (Assuming you're in the US, that is.) Select this easy setup BEFORE you create a new sequence and/or try to capture anything from the Canopus. Also make sure that the Canopus box itself is set for NTSC, not PAL.
You should NOT use the DV NTSC 32KHz easy setup.

  • FCP 7.0.3 Easy Setup audio setting issues

I have created two custom Easy Setups.
    SD:     DVCPro50 PAL with audio set @ 48.000 kHz, 16-bit, 16 chan
    HD:     DVCProHD 1080i 25fps with audio set @ 48.000kHz, 24-bit, 16 chan
I open FCP, load the SD easy setup.  I then click on Audio/Video settings.
Select "Audio/Video Settings" and view "Capture Presets Summary"
         - Audio format is listed as 48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
If I then select the HD Easy Setup, and then "Audio/Video Settings"
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan (THIS SHOULD BE 24-bit)
    Select the "A\V Device" tab:
The audio device has defaulted to the 16 bit setting as well.
It appears that FCP or AJA is keeping the audio bitrate from the previous Easy Setup.
Even if we close FCP completely, and reopen into a new project, load the HD Easy Setup, the bit rate still shows as 16.
I have tried deleting the following:
    apple.finalcutpro.plist
    Final Cut User Data Folder
    Thanks,
    Mike

The camera definitely recorded in SP, that icon was visible on the viewfinder...
What settings should i be using in FCP to capture the video? From attempted research i found most comments suggesting to use a basic Firewire settings. i have used this in PAL format but the results are poor.
One thing I am confused about is the 32khz or 48khz settings. Which should i be using? I have an older version of FCE 4 where there are many settings for both 32khz and 48khz for DV FireWire but in FCP7 there are only options for 48khz.
Any advice would be welcomed at the moment.
I am also willing to upload clips of what I have to demonstrate visually the poor quality video I am capturing from the Canon

  • INGESTED DVCPRO HD FOOTAGE IN WRONG "EASY SETUP" - HELP!

OK, this falls under the heading: Just plain stupid. Nevertheless, now I am looking for a fix. I'm new to HD. I shot a short film with a Panasonic HVX-200. I was not going to have to do the post-production and would periodically load the footage into FCP as it was shot just to see how it looked. Then it turned out, I was asked to edit it under a tight deadline. However, when I ingested the footage into FCP I never changed the easy setup. The editing is now done and I wish to output to Digi Beta. But I now see the sequence settings are set for CCIR 601 NTSC! Is there a way to "undo" this and put in the proper setting? Or is the only way to re-ingest and re-edit? This is embarassing. But, hey, we all have to learn. Maybe publishing my error will save someone else down the road! Thanks for any help.

That's very interesting to learn that 601 NTSC is the proper setting for Digibeta. I didn't know that. Here are the exact current sequence settings:
    Frame Size: 720 x 486. Aspect Ratio: CCIR 601 (40:27)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV 720 x 480
    Field Dominance: Lower (Even)
    Editing Timebase 29.97
    QuickTime Video Settings:
    Compressor: Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2
    Quality: 100%
    Audio: 48Khz, 24-bit
    Config: default
I shot in DVCPRO HD 720p60
Gosh, I'm trying to remember if I had to render the footage as I dropped it into the timeline. I didn't think so. But now I can't swear to it.
I guess I have (at least) 2 questions: (1) Is there a way to "revert" to the HD format for this sequence now that it's edited? (2) Do I even want to do that if I want to output to digibeta print? What's the best thing to do to obtain a maximum quality digibeta print?
By the way, I just heard this week that the film was accepted into a film festival, so I'm under a dead line to deliver a print, preferrably in digibeta or beta sp format.
Would greatly appreciate any help. And thanks for the welcome to the forums!
    Rob

  • Unrendered and Easy Setup

I have a new Sony SR11 and I'm experimenting with a FCE workflow. I've recorded a few minutes of video at the camcorder's highest setting, but am having problems getting it to play in the viewer in FCE - the audio plays, but the video shows "unrendered". I've read through the forums but haven't found an answer that helps me yet.
    Source video:
Recorded at 16 Mb/s with a frame size of 1920x1080.
    Easy Setup:
    HDV AIC 1080i/60
When I create a sequence even after setting the above Easy Setup value, the sequence has a frame size of 1400x1080. If I read other posts correctly, the reason that FCE needs to render my clips before playing them in the viewer is that the frame sizes don't match. 1400x1080 != 1920x1080.
Assuming that's really the problem, how do I change the sequence frame size to 1920x1080? Or does FCE/AIC not support 1920x1080?

Found answers to my own questions. Posting here for others in case they have the same issues:
Alright...here's the fix. It's a PITA but it works:
You need to download this free converter: MPEG Streamclip
    File -> Export to QuickTime
    Compression: Apple Intermediate Codec
    Quality: 100%
    Sound: Stereo/48 kHz
Import the converted file into FCE and everything will work smoothly. Here's the rub:
    1. Extra step
    2. Extra, larger files. A h.264 original out of the camera that was 69mb turned into a 216mb file after conversion.
Kinda defeats one of my primary purposes for moving to FCE instead of iMovie (save disk space by using referenced files instead of imported ones)

  • Missing Easy Setup File 1080i50

    Hi guys
Just upgraded to Sony HDV camera (HVR-A1E) PAL (UK). Pop into FCP5.x easy setup menu for capture and only settings are for 1080i60. Where is the 1080i50 gone? Cannot capture more than a few seconds of HD before dropped frame rate window pops up. Can capture HDV in iMovie, but when you try to import into FCP it gets upset! Using iMacG5 2GHz with 1Gb RAM.
Any thoughts, or anyone who can put me in touch with the missing file or instructions on how to set it all up manually would be GREAT!
    Cheers
    Paul

Just gives me a new list to choose from when I start program. The list contains only one version of HDV which is the 1080i60! So that didn't help. Any other ideas!
    Cheers
