Adding of essbase server .

The new essbase installation is done in the new server on windows.
The installation is successful.
so was trying to add the new essbase server in the old server ,but getting this error while adding the server "Network error {10060} Unable to connect to new server name . The client timed out waiting to conect to Essbase Agent using TCP/IP.
I tried adding the essbase server using the ip address ,what else i can try ,
How to solve this issue

I am sure that I am giving correct credentials as I did it couple of times.I just added the essbase server as LOCALHOST and username as ADMIN and password as PASSWORD and confirm password as PASSWORD.I am not sure where I am making mistake.or Do I need to configure anything after adding the ADMINISTARTION SERVER through CONSOLE.
Please let me know if you have any idea on this.

Yes,While configuring essbase server,it has asked me to provide userid and password twice.
First time:
By default it came with userid as hypuser.But i changed it to essadmin(This is the user which i have created in database specifcally for essbase).
Second Time:
After the above step is completed ,when i click next,It was asking the for userid.By default it came with admin.I left it as it is and provided password as password.
After this it took several mins to configure and finally came out successfully.
Now my doubt is that Do I need to provide essadmin(which i have given while configuring essbase server) while adding essbase server through CONSOLE?.

Error when adding Essbase server...

Hi,
I installed Hyperion System 9.3.1 in my development machine and encounter the following error when adding a Essbase server in AAS for the first time.
Error: 1042017: Network error: The client or server timed out waiting to receive data using TCP/IP. Check network connections. Increase the NetRetryCount and/or NetDelay values in the ESSBASE.CFG file. Update this file on both client and server. Restart the client and try again.
I used the default user "admin" and password "password". I used my servername:10080 as the server name. I hope I am right.
Why is this happening? I tried changing netdelay settings but still get the same. Is this something else? Does this have anything to do with my TCP/IP settings? I am installing this on a virtual PC.
I couldn't find an answer in previous posts.

The things that come to mind:
The server name you use should be the name of the virtual PC, not the machine it's running on. Also, depending on the settings for the Virtual PC environment, you may have to change the network options to allow it to be visible to the network, be in the right domain, etc...
The above may or may not get you any closer, the error message itself is just saying it can't receive a response from the server, which means the server never got the request or can't send a response back.

Adding Essbase Server access to Planning Application group

How we can add Essbase server access to Planning Application group in Shared services ? Pls. advice

You can't provision access against any application group.
However, you can create and use native user groups or use external user groups and provision those groups to have acccess to Essbase and Planning.

The top level group I refer to in the post is where I typically grant Essbase Server Access.

Cannot add a New Essbase server into the EAS Console

Hi can someone assist me...........
I have installed Essbase on a new / additional server (that all went rather well, its not hard just pressing NEXT, NEXT, NEXT).
I then used a essadmin account to configure, i have to say its not the same as the other essbase server (so i am wondering if this was the start of my problems)!!. I did not use the same essadmin as the password is unknown its not known and the orginal installation was not recorded. I do however know and used the admin account for the shared services.
I then logged into EAS Console (single instance of the EAS, with a plan to add 3 new essbase servers to this console over the next couple of days.) i added the new essbase server, then externalised and all was happy with the world. SUCCESS :-)
I closed EAS, and went back in and thats where the fun started, it then stated that it could not connect and i recieved the invalid login message in essbase. I have read some forums and followed the advise of going into Shared Services and manually removing the new essbase server registry under projects, cleared down and replaced the essbase.sec file etc etc to the originals and stop/started the services.
So can anyone help on what my next steps should be?, I don't want to run off and re-register again via the console for shared services if i need to use the original essadmin password in my configuration. Any help will be gratefully recieved.

Error connecting to Essbase Server when running business rules

We recently migrated from v9.3 to v11.1.1.3. I have two users with Administrative access who need to run business rules on a native Essbase application, but cannot. They get the message 'Error connecting to Essbase Server'. They get this message when trying to set this execution database. They can't even expand the server to see the list of applications. I have tried deprovisioning them in Shared Services, refreshing security, then adding it all back in and refreshing again, but it doesn't work. My own id has identical access to that which I'm granting them, and I have no problems. I even created a native user with the same access and it works as well. No matter what I do, I cannot get these two users to be able to run their business rules in EAS.
We also have a Planning application, and the Planning Administrative user has the same issue. However, this user is able to get around it by running rules using the Planning connection rather than the Essbase connection. She has the same issue of not seeing anything under the Essbase Servers when trying to set the execution database though.
In version 9, we were not using Shared Services for Essbase security. Unfortunately our consultant chose to set it up using Shared Services security when migrating, and according to the documentation, one cannot go back to using Native Essbase security.
I also tried running the Externalize Users wizard and the three users with issues failed to externalize. My own id did, and the native user I created succeeded.
Has anyone experienced an issue like this or have any ideas on how to resolve?

Follow up - Oracle has finally resolved this. It's so simple, yet no one thought to check until now. The three users with problems all have mixed case user id's in ldap. They have always logged into EAS with all lower case ids. In version 9, on native security, this was never a problem. But in version 11 using Shared Services (not sure which factor changed it), it doesn't work. The simple solution is to log in with their exact mixed case user ids. It only took Oracle three months and the creation of a bug issue to figure this out for us.

Can't add the essbase server in the administration server

Hello every body
I'm using essbase for the first time and i'm trying to add my essbase server into my administration console.
It asks for the server name and the credentials.when i entrer the correct informations my analytic server can't be added and i catch the following error:

The client timed out waiting to connect to Analytic Services Agent using TCP/IP.
Check your network connections.
Also make sure that server and port values are correct
I started all the servers (Administration,integration,shared,provider) and they're all well configured.
anyone has an idea about this?

Try starting Essbase in the foreground by typing "essbase" (without the quotes) in a command window.
If there's an issue with Essbase starting then the error will give you a good idea of what's wrong.

Unable to login into Essbase server

Hi all,
I have installed Shared services and Essbase, I did "Externalize Users" in Essbase. It happened successfully. My understanding on this Externalize user is
"Essbase runs in Shared Services mode and in this mode Essbase create, Edit User permission becomes obsolete. You must be an Essbase administrator to manage users, and you must additionally be a Shared Services administrator to manage users from Shared Services"
Is this correct please validate. If this is correct, then if you change the password in shared services and sync the native directory in shared services, Essbase should work with new password but this is not happening when i try to connect the Essbase server it is throwing the below error.
"Error: 1051293: Login fails due to invalid login credentials"
Is there any other activity that has to be done in this process. I dont have clear idea on this Externalize users can any one explain.
Can any one help me in this urgent issue.

Thanks for the reply. I have few more doubts.
At the time of configuring the Shared services the default login will be admin and password. But when i configure the Essbase with Shared services in Configuration Utility i had given the different user name as "essadmin".
So i have followed the following steps to do Externalize users in Essbase:-
1. Just created the same "essadmin" user in shared services
2. Done externalize users in Administration services first inside Essbase console, while doing that i have given my own password.
3. Then went into the specific Essbase server and right clicked security and externalized users there, here also while doing that i have given my own password.
By doing this step externalize users worked successfully and i can sink the user with shared services.
Can you let me know whether the above steps are correct or any other procedure is available??
And i have one more doubt....
Once externalize users has been done, all the essbase sample database and Analytic services got migrated to Shared services. Then i have created new planning application which reflected in both essbase and shared services.
Then i loged into shared services and created a new user, then granted only one specific sample application and planning application to that user and sinc with database and also i loged into planning application and refreshed database.
Then i logged into essbase with the newely created username and password... but i noticed that there is no Essbase server available with the new user login. So i added the same essbase server with "external authentation" ticked.
Once this is done all the availble application appeared in his login, Here it has Not restricted only to the applicaiton which i have given access to that user, it is showing all the application and also allowing to edit the application.
I just want to restrict a particular application to one particular user to edit the outline in essbase and this has to be acheived by giving access restriction in shared services.... now i am unable to acheive the same. Can any one help me in doing so???

Essbase Server and Deployment Server on different boxes

Hi,We're currently testing Hyperion Essbase 7.1.2 and we were wondering if it was possible to have the Essbase (Analytic) Server on one machine and Deployment Server on a different one. At first sight, it seemed so, so we did just that.Now, we'd like to test our setup by signing on through the ESS command line prompt (on the Deployment Server machine) but seem to miss something since the connection ("signon") is refused. The funny thing is that on the machine on which the Essbase Server is installed, we've also installed the Administration Services: through the Administration Console, we can indeed connect to the Deployment Server and interact with it.So my first question is: is our setup possible (that is, having the Deployment and Essbase servers on distinct boxes)?If so, what is the meaning of all the parameters needed for the "signon" command of the ESS command line prompt?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,A. Yes, you can configure it that way and we have many customers with that setup.You have to login to the EDS console the first time using the 'default' admin username/password (system/password) and setup a username, with admin privileges, that also is on your Essbase server. Logout, then login with the 'real' username. Select the domain object ('essbase at the top of the tree'), right mouse click and add an analytic server. Type in the name of your Essbase server and it should be added (and you should be able to browse objects on the Essbase server). Cannot open/add essbase server in EAS console in SSL mode

Hello Gurus,
I have implemented SSL in EPM which terminates at the web server but it seems that there is some issue with the Essbase server.Whenever I try to add essbase server into EAS console in a secure mode it shows the following in the Message panel of EAS console
Error: 1040142: NZERROR: nzos_Handshake failed(29024)
Checked Essbase logs but it has the same error mentioned in it. I am not sure where to proceed from here.

I think I might have the answer, EAS will be using the essbase RTC which has its own wallet in <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseRTC-64\11.1.2.0\bin\wallet
Now you can either update the cwallet.sso in that directory or add a essbase.cfg file in <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseRTC-64\11.1.2.0\bin
wiith the location of the wallet using the config setting
WalletPath <enter_full_path_to_wallet>
I also added the certificate to the cacerts in <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\jdk160_21\jre\lib\security
Restart services and give it a go, works for me.

Planning not communicating with Essbase server

Hi,
I've done a fresh install for 64 bit EPM 11.1.1.3. Every individual component is running fine. I can log into SS,EAS console, create delete application on essbase server, log into workspace and planning.
However when I'm trying to create a datasource and trying to connect to Essbase database -> press validate button - i get an error called "an error occured" on a blank white screen. I'm trying to login using admin user id..
Are there any preliminary steps involved in configuring planning with essbase ?
What should I look for here.. which log files?. There is not much info in planning log file...
Any pointers will be appreciated.. Thanks in advance!!

I did look in the logs Sharedservices_taskflow.log in sharedservices folder has the following error -

Essbase server not expanding

This is strange , in EAS console I am able to expand essbase server from other env through prod eas server except prod essbase server, though it shows success login.
also if I switch the eas server to dev and add essbase prod server , it expands..
no version mismatch or java mismatch.
same behavior with thick and think client

What does EAS log says ??
Also, are you sure..you have added Prod APS in provider tab...
It may be chance that, at your testing time their may be heavy load on essbase , and as you switched, load decreased..means worth to give test couple of times to make sure ..

Essbase server blinks and dissapear

i All,
I am using 9.3.1 version on windows 2003 server. Today When I tried to start my essbase server it just blinks and dissapears, and not starting. I even rebooted couple of times but turned no luck. Any body faced this problem before?? Please let me know what steps I need to take to get my essbase server up.

Hi John,
Thanks a lot....the essbase server pops up now and i am able to give the password after following your steps.
Before adding your steps I just tried to register the essbase server as windows service from configuration utility and it was succeded. I was even able to login to console and access my applications.
At that time i didn't have any problem with the environment variables which you have suggested. After that I stopped the service and followed your steps and started essbase server from Programs->Hyperion.......where the window pops up.
Before adding your steps I checked that there was a variable with name as below:
ARBORPATH: D:Hyperion\Analyticservices;D:\Hyperion/common/EssbaseRTC/9.3.1
One more thing is that I was able to start essbase from Programs-.Hypeion....... before without any problem.
Why this sudden behaviour???

Unable to connect to essbase server

Hi all,
In one of my DEV environment(Hyperion 9.3.1 64-bit)..I'm unable to connect to essbase server(EPMTSG96:1478) and throws out below error
Error: 1051293: Login fails due to invalid login credentials
I'm not even able to perform start/stop of essbase server.
On the shared services end,i get below error message when tried to select my essbase server project(Analytic Servers: EPMTSG96:2),tied with essbase server EPMTSG96:1478

I'm able to connect to admin console using my "admin" id and not able to connect to my essbase server using "epmpadm",which is the user name set for essbase server EPMTSG96:1478.
Here goes the action i performed:
1) Created new shared services project as "Analytic Servers : EPMTSG96:3"
2) Added the application "Analytic servers :EPMTSG96:2" to the project,due to which this application already under project "Analytic Servers: EPMTSG96:2" got removed.
3) So now my project structure is like this:
Analytic Servers : EPMTSG96:3
+ Analytic Servers: EPMTSG96:2
4) Now tried to externalise the users from essbase server EPMTSG96:1478 and from then i got all these failure messages.
Kindly advice!..Any help is appreciable.Thanks!

I don't know about Shared service how it works...Reset your password and try to login after 5 mins..

EAS: I keep losing my Essbase Server Regestrations

More of an annoyance but I keep losing my Essbase server registrations in EAS randomly. On occasion when I log into EAS, the essbase servers I have added dissappear on me forcing me to add them back in. I can't seem to reproduce, just seems random. I've tried using EAS locally installed and the web app and they both have the same behavior. On 11.1.2.1 currently, I remember this ever being an issue in 9.3.x

I believe it is a bug and I am sure I saw a fix for it in the 11.1.2.2 documentation, the patches have not been officially released yet but it will bevery soon.
