I'm trying to add the lowest 4 out of 6 numbers in a column
New to numbers and I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that adds the lowest 4 out of 6 numbers in a column. I've made the spreadsheet with it adding all six numbers but haven't quite figured out the rest. Any help or direction to a solution would be appreciated.
Heres's a solution that you might find interesting, not necessarily better:
The first 5 rows are Header Rows...
In one sense it's a more general solution since it doesn't matter how many numbers are in the input list. On the other hand, you run out of Header Rows at 5 , so if you want the sum of the first 5 or more numbers, you need a different layout.

Averaging only visible numbers in a column
I am trying to perform functions only on the visible numbers in a column. I have sorted the column so that only certain numbers are visible. I want to average these visible numbers, but numbers is averaging all of the numbers in the column, even the hidden ones. Any help?

sum in other programs doesn't work this way either, they tend to use the subtotal function with an argument telling it the function to perform on a filtered list. (Yes, I just double checked myself).
Its not that Numbers doesn't do it correct. It is doing it the same way every other program does it. For consistancy.
We are missing the subtotal function that everyone is used to M$ programs adding for you when a filtered list is detected.

i had added books to iBooks on iTunes and synced with my iPad mini. Then I realised that the titles sometimes had the author name, or a random number before it. I made changes to all the books in my iTunes library, edited the titles, added authors to the author columns, year in year column etc and synced my iPad again. but my iPad did not update these changes at all is still in the old way. can this be rectified?
Have you tried closing the iTunes store app via the multitasking bar and seeing if it works when you re-open it
Have you tried closing the app via the taskbar ? (I assume that your iPad is on iOS 6, though the version that your tagline shows, 6.1.6, is not a version for iPads) From the home screen (i.e. not with iTunes store app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
Most all of my 1700 songs have been duplicated in iTunes. I have downloaded the instructions how to delete the duplicates but it says "sort by the date you added" and i have no column that says that. I am running windows xp.
Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

In iPhoto '11 I cannot change the book settings. For example, adding page numbers. There is no "option" button as is suggested by the help item. How can I change to book settings?
The "options" button should appear at the bottom of the iPhoto window, when you view your book, then the Book Settings Button should be available and you can activate page numbers.
But remember, that the settings available will depend on the Book Theme you selected. The above shows the settings for one of the "Travel" themes. In a Picture Book Theme, e.g. you cannot add page numbers.
What theme and book size are you using?

ADDING WEEK NUMBERS IN THE CALENDAR OF IPHONE

haven't found option of adding week numbers on my iphone 3gs calendar. in working life week numbers are pretty important and would need the option on daily basis. i syncronise my calendar from office outlook / exchange. office supports the feature, but week numbers dont follow.
any ideas anyone?!I use Google calendar and sync it to my iPhone calendar over the air via Google Sync. There are a number of "gadgets" or sub-calendars you can add to your Google calendar (i.e. Moon phases, contacts birthdays, etc.) that will sync over to iPhone. I searched for week numbers and sure enough there is a "gadget" that will add this functionality with an option of weeks starting on Sundays or Mondays. Though I've never used them, I now have week numbers on my iPhone calendar.
You would have to set up a free gmail account to create a google calendar but you wouldn't need to use it (mail or calendar) except to sync week numbers if you don't want to. If you want to go through the (relatively) small amount of trouble to do this just start a gmail account and then follow these instructions: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252
Except of course you will only turn on calendar. Then (on your MAC) go to your gmail and click on 'calendar' in the upper left. Then, on your phone's web browser go to http://m.google.com/sync and sign in with your gmail info. Bookmark this page. Select your device and check the boxes for 'My Calendars' and 'Week Numbers'. Now when you open the calendar app on iPhone tap 'calendars' on the upper left and you should see (yourname)@gmail.com (Exchange) with 'Week Numbers' listed below it. Make sure you are viewing 'All Calendars' within the app and week numbers will show up on the Sunday or Monday of each week.
I apologize if these directions are not clear enough or too wordy. I tried to describe it for someone without much experience with this stuff (meaning myself). It may seem like a lot of trouble, but if you really want week numbers you can do it! -
I am adding large numbers and getting the wrong result. there seems to be some rounding taking place in the sum but i am adding integers. I am using DASYLab 9.02, data is summed in the arithmetic module, example problem 331153408-31570 = 331121838 but the output is 331121824. I tried making the variable where the inputs are stored 20 digit with 10 decimals but that did not help and i also tried dividing first by 1000 and 10000 only to get different answers. is there a setting that needs to be configured differently?
Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply. I am reading a hex value in from a serial port. the number is large and when i format it as hex on one chan it is off by a small amount. there is some rounding in the LSD. i then take another reading later and calculate the delta. since i dont have the right values to begin with my difference calculation is wrong. when i read as bytes through 8 channels, i can see the ascii for each digit and that they are correctly displayed. using a formula module i can convert from ascii to decimal so that i get the decimal equivalent of the hex character then in the next formula i do the math to find the value of each hex digit in place it holds. then using a sum arithmetic module i get the final value of the large number coming in. it is correct all the way upto the aritmetic sum. i tried cutting the large hex number into two parts and then adding up the weighted parts and still have the wrong ans in the display module. i also tried dividing the halves by 1000 prior to adding them so that i was working with smaller numbers in the summation but that didnt help.
so i did the math directly in the extended portion of the variables. the numbers add up properly there but when i try to bring the correct sum back into the work sheet to display it, it is wrong again. it seems that a value around 04000000 hex is the limit. below that i get the right value displayed that was calculated in the variable field, above it there is some degree of variation. I can set the limit of cycles to a value below where the addition becomes problematic or i can export the hex to a spreadsheet, do the math there and then bring it back in but i will still have the same issue displaying the answer.
the limitation doesnt seem to be in DASYLab in general but in the Read, Formula, Constant Generator modules that read the variable back into the worksheet. it is displayed properly in the contents window -

I have a variable number of sales orders and three keyfigures that show the number of days between when the order was received and when the customer received the order.
I need to get the range of days from each keyfigure column
ex.

I have tried using formulas for Min and Max setting the Calculations tab for both Results and Singles Values
than creating a formula using SUMCT, SUMRT and SUMGT but I get the red X for results. I have used NOERR(x) and NODIV(x)
to determine that the formula is seen as having undefined calculations or errors in the logic (I do not get errors when saving the query).
NOERR(SUMRT (OtB-Max - OtB-Min))
OtB-Max is a formula that hides the singles values and displays the results as the Maximum number in the column Days-Order to Box
OtB-Min is the same kind of formula but it displays the Minimum number for the same column.

Can anyone tell me how to subtract multiple numbers down a column in Numbers? I want to start with my figure in A2 and I want to be able to subtract the figures in cells A3 down to A19 from it, with the answer showing in A20. I'm sure this is very basic, but can't seem to make it work whatever I try

I am trying to query the v$archived_log view. And currently 'm running the below 2 queries to find out the updated archives on the DR site and then manually subtracting it:

Fixing acrobat pro XI crash when adding bates numbers
Upgraded from Pro 8 to Pro 11 and regretting it. Now the program just won't work. Process of adding bates numbers is simple. Once I finally find where the "tool" is hidden, I add a document and then select add bates number. There is "OK" button, but when I click that, program crashes. Every time, every document regardless of size.
I just tried works for me.

Updating documents - adding batch numbers to lines
Using the DI Server, we want to be able to update a document (such as a Goods Receipt PO) and create batch numbers for lines where the item on the line is set to batch on release only (hence we were able to create the document with no batch numbers on in the first place).

I simply want to add two more of the same columns under the existing two columns (headers: Our Mission & Sunday). I tried copying the code that has the div class, but my attempts haven't been successful. I've gotten the columns in there, but then the bottom navigation doesn't sit correctly. Any help where to add the code and /div markers would be excellent.
I know I need to add this, probably around Line 150 or so, but I'm getting hung up as to where to add the /div markers and how they relate to the navigation at the bottom.

In Dreamweaver design view insert your cursor to the right of the letter 'n' in the word 'Mission'. Then look along the bottom of the design view window and click on the <div.wrapper divider> tag. That will select the code you need to duplicate.
Now switch to code view and you will see all the code you need to copy highlighted so go ahead and copy it. Then scroll down to the end of the highlighted code until you arrive at the opening tag of your col-2 <div> so you see this: <div class="col-2">
Now insert your cursor directly before the <div class="col-2"> tag and paste in the duplicate code that you copied earlier. You now have your duplicate code in place.
Now add clear: both; to the #footer css (as shown below)
