You won't lose any data unless you erase your hard drive.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c"key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it.When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've selected the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.

Play button for sound files in the browser..?

I wonder if there's a setting (or something) in Finder so it displays a play button for sound files the same way as it does for video files?

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot.

I just bought my first IPad and am learning about it. A couple of questions... How do I write letters separately from email and store them?
Secondly I bought a wireless keyboard at the same time. I my Be stupid, but cannot locate the on/off button for the keyboard.

On the Apple wireless keyboard, press the right end of the battery tube to turn the keyboard on and off. Unscrew the left end cap to replace the batteries.

I have a US iPhone and I am in the UK, I had a problem with the battery and got it replaced in a UK Apple store but then I start having a shut down and reboot ...when I called the customer service they said we can't give the UK options since it is a US product!! And that I have to visit one of their stores to get it either repaired or replaced !!!so, is there a possibility to get it replaced in the UK?

Having trouble creating an On/Off button for the subtitles on the main menu

I'm creating a DVD with one subtitle track that I'd like to be ON by default but I want users to have the ability to turn them off without the use of the remote. I was thinking of creating a Subtitle on/off button but can't seem to get this to work even though I've read several tutorials. Do I need to create a separate 'set-up' menu with a 'subtitles on' and 'subtitles off' button?
As of right now I have a single button on the main menu that says 'Subtitles On' which I was planning to be dark blue when active (on) and light blue when inactive (off). See what I'm talking about here: http://pfti.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Screen-shot-2013-07-12-at-1.26.47-PM.png

You set it by changing the menu's property for the default button. This is one of the reasons a separate menu is generally used. If you have a single menu with 3 buttons ("play movie," "subtitle on," and "subtitle off"), and you set the default to "Active Subtitle Track," then your "play movie" button won't ever be the default.
To play with this and to decide how you want your disk to work, create a test EN project with 2 menus. Rename one of them "Main Menu" with 2 buttons "Play Movie" and "Subtitle Setup." Rename the second menu "Subtitle Setup" with 3 buttons, "Subtitle On," "Subtitle Off," and "Main Menu." As noted, the "Default Button" property for the menu "Subtitle Setup" will be "Active Subtitle Track." The button "Subtitle On," using specify link, will link to its own menu, default button, but will specify Subtitle 1. Same for the button "Subtitle Off," except that it will specify Subtitle Off. The Main Menu button simply links to the main menu.
Note that in Encore preview, do not use your computer mouse to hover over the buttons. It will trick you into thinking that you have or have not set the behavior correctly. Use the little remote function in the bottom of the preview window.

I am trying to create a sound button to start a sound and then stop it when clicked again.
I thought it would be easy because there is a code snippet for "click to play/stop sound"
I have my sound file in my library.
Below is the code that is not working:
Instructions:

if the mp3 is in your library (in your fla) then the code is slightly different...
first, right-click on the sound in the library and select properties. Then tick "Export for ActionScript", and enter a name in "Class" (eg: mySound).
Then amend your code:
replace:
var s:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("CYOA2.wav"));
with:
var s:Sound = new mySound();
(replace "mySound" with whatever you entered for "Class" above.

Signout/log off button for RdP users accessing 2012 R2

I am configuring a 2012 R2 machine to provide remote desktop services to a group of users connecting via Wyse terminals
These users currently access a 2008 R2 server
These users are highly non-technical
I am looking for a way to enable them to log off or sign out of their sessions from the desktop
I don't want to force them to go to the Metro/Modern/Touch interface or have to use the Charms bar
Any solutions for this desired user experience?

you can create Desktop Shortcuts using GPO:
Logoff - calling
C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -L
Discconect - calling
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tsdiscon.exe
Alternatively for the Metro UI there is a solution to create shutdown and logoff tiles. Have a look here:

My Macbook Pro is stuck. When I turn the Mac on, it start like normal. But then it's stuck. When I click on Safari or iPhoto it wont open. Nothing will open. It wont turn off either. I have to hold on the off button for 5 seconds.

Thats my problem.

switch it off with long press of Power
switch it on, IMMEDIATELY press and keep pressed Option key on keyboard
when selection appears, release option and select Recovery
then select Select Disk Utility.
in Disk Utility select your HD.
Press repair drive, wait until it finishes
Press Repair permissions, wait until it finishes
Quit disk Utility
Reboot as usual
tell if it helps.

Adding on/off audio button

Hi. In my Muse doc I have an uploaded .swf audio/video file that I created in After Effects. It functions fine in Muse, but is there any way I can add an on/off button for the audio? The way it is now, it just loops with no way to turn the sound off.
Here is the code I am currently using for the .swf
