The point made in that other thread is accurate in that Time Machine backups over a network and those to a locally-attached disk are different. See the link in the fourth message of this thread:

Typical scenario: after long manual bookmark organization Firefox Sync adds trash from its server to my laptop or tablet.
Where can I find how to override content of server's backup by current browser's settings/passwords/bookmarks? Stupid me, I set up new sync and lost this capability.

Sync has always had a problem'''*''' of mangling and duplicating bookmarks. I suppose I am not surprised to see it still happens.
I have not got time at the moment to give full details but hope this still helps.
Sync is very much a double edged sword,
*It helps by seamlessly syncing bookmarks between devices, and now New Sync even lets you use it from a single device to the server.
*But new sync gives no options to control Sync direction. And clearly is still capable of messing up bookmarks in a manner that is difficult almost impossible to sort out other than to rely on the last good backup.
You can use the bookmarks checkbox to turn off the bookmark syncing but you need to sort the mess out manually. Rather late now to mention that it is always a good idea to periodically manually backup your bookmarks.
First of all backup the profiles on each device (That at least preserves information). If this has happened recently you can possibly restore to a previous bookmarks backup. Take care though to make manual backups of bookmarks as you work. Restores overwrite & destroy bookmarks. Note HTML backups can be appended, and the files and folders are easy to edit and read.
There is also a possibility of the Windows OS having a copy of the database, (''places.sqlite'' - a hidden, Firefox profile file) but again care with ensuring you have backups before replacing.

If you have any current bookmarks save them now as an HTML files by exporting them as HTML. This sort of backup has the advantage that it can be appended to current bookmarks.

It is important to note the ordinary backups overwrite and destroy any existing bookmarks when you import them.

The bookmarks themselves are stored within the Firefox profile and the file is called places.sqlite , that is the file you want. (There are also backup bookmarks within a backup folder inside the profile,they may also be useful files.)

I did a manual backup and wanted to restore the iPhone, but iTunes forced me to update the iPhone before allowing me to restore the iPhone...
After updating, I realised that iTunes created a backup automatically without confirming with me, and now the latest backup file is not the one I wanted.

No, to the best of my knowledge the device backup area is simply updated with new information each time the device is backed up so there are no previous versions preserved. Once a backup has been used to restore a device however it gets locked and dated so that you could return back to that snapshot at a later date.
Your manual backup should have simply updated the backup with any new data since the last automatic backup. Upgrading should not have overwritten a backup taken just before the upgrade with a, presumably, empty state. Have you actually tried to restore the current backup that is available? It may have what you want after all. You might like to try backing up the current state of the device to iCloud first, or if you have access to another computer back it up to that.
N.b. I always disable automatic syncing of devices so that I am in better control of when data starts to be written, and in which direction it flows.

SQL Query to add previous month amount to current month amount

Beginner - Using SQL 2008 R2 - Having a difficult time adding previous month amount to current month amount on a continual running basis. Table fields and example data are:
FunctionID
UnitID
Dateof
Result      YTD

The YTD field would be a calculated field. I would need to be able start a new YTD in Jan of the next year. Really could use some help and direction on this one. Easy to do in an Excel spreadsheet. Can't seem to get it in SQL. Thanks in advance.

As of 2008 R2 the choices are:
- Self join
- Correlated subquery (in the SELECT or APPLY clauses)
- Cursor
- SQLCLR aggregation function (winner)
The first two options yield a poor performance for tables with considerable number of rows.

It may be that the process you used to change the iCloud ID created these issues. What I would suggest you do is the following:
If you have any photo stream photos on your device that you want to keep, save them to your camera roll by opening your photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.
Go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into your iCloud account and check to confirm that your data is all there.
Assuming your data is on icloud.com, go to Settings>iCloud on your device, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted. This will only delete the account and your synced data from your device but not from iCloud. Your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.
Go to Settings>iCloud, sign back in with the correct iCloud ID and password and turn your iCloud data syncing preferences back on. This will sync your iCoud data back to your device and recreate your iCloud email account.
Try your Mail again and see if it works properly now.

Change C2 to:

    ORDER BY COLL_TIME desc;And rather than populating a table with the three records, you could just select the three records using: where COLL_TIME between Prev3_time and Prev1_time

Unable to access previous TM backups after re-selecting external drive

My MacBook Pro just came back from Apple repair, where it had its logic board replaced. (Hard drive is fine, and remained untouched.)
Upon getting it home and plugging in the external HD I've been using for Time Machine since November, TM would tell me that backup "failed" and that it "couldn't find the volume".
I tried turning TM off, deselecting the drive, then turning it back on and reselecting it. Now it tells me that there isn't enough room on the drive to perform a complete backup.
Problem is, that's not what I'm asking it to do! I just want it to recognize all my previous TM backups and continue doing its incremental work just as before.
I have a perfectly intact Backups.backupdb folder with three months' worth of valid TM incremental backups. Have I lost those forever? Am I going to be forced to erase this drive and start all over with TM?

RIGHT!!! I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!!! OK... Time Machine connects a computer to the respective folder, by the computers name and model computer. Since that is true, your computer's motherboard was replaced, which changes the addresses and id numbers, so Time Machine thinks it is a different computer. With that, Time Machine will not accept the fact that the computer has the same hard drive and will be stubborn to say that it will only be able to read the information from the finder and all it can do now is to start over. Unfortunately, Time Machine will stick to its guns to start a new backup.

If you have backups in iTunes or iCloud, you can restore the iPhone.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

MIGRATING PREVIOUS TIMEMACHINE BACKUPS TO A NEW TIMECAPSULE

Hi Can anybody help me with this? I am fully aware that anyone can copy a Sparsebundle (all my previous TimeCapsule backups) that is now archived on my USB external hardrive. & migrate it to a new larger capacity TimeCapsule , I have read lots of people have had success using either ( SUPERDUPER OR CARBONCOPYCLONER OR DISK UTILITY ) .
Can someone guide me what the best Application to use as I've successfully copied it using SUPERDUPER but I'm not clear/sure what the next steps are as all I'm trying to achieve is to see all my previous backups on the Timeline on my new 1TB TimeCapsule .

I do see the icon that looks like a drive with a wifi tree in blue & I have setup my new TC & named it the same as my previous 500Gb dual one early 2009 version. But I now have the latest new 1Tb model on Apple website.
Sorry when I do open that data folder. With Superduper you have to make sure the data folder is empty then start a backup until it shows a Sparsebundle image then switch it off then do the erase then copy from my EHDrive the old Sparsebundle image. & you have to mount the image you make that you switch TM off as soon as it shows a Sparsebundle then soon as it mounts a icon appears on desktop saying TMachine backups
Then with Superduper you copy your old Sparsebundle file to the TMachine backups destination that appears on desktop then wait hours for it to copy which it does successfully
Then it says once it's copied. You enter TIMEmachine & my old backups should show in the new timeline but it only shows. Today's backup? Then I click on the backups icon that mounted & it then shows 2folders with the same Sparsebundle file in the (my name archive folder with a backups.backupdb with nothing in it then the 2nd folder is called (backups.backupdb & has exactly the same items in it ,it has the my name archive with my previous Sparsebundle file & again the backup.backupsdb with nothing in it?
I'm not sure why everyone leaving comments on that article of how to copy from An EHDrive are getting it right & I can't seem too?
