Adding other Video formats to iWeb

I am looking to add other video formats to my website so that users do not have to download quicktime just to see my work on my site. The issue I am having is, that when I add another video format to my site, another video box will appear. I am looking to have quicktime be the featured format on the site, but I would like the user to be able to click on other file formats, say Windows media player for example, and the video will appear on another page. I apologize if this is confusing. What I am trying to say is that I don't want 5 different video boxes on the same page at the same time. I would like just one video box (in quicktime format), and then words such as Windows media or Real Player underneath the quicktime movie video box that they can click on if they need to view the video in that format.
Obviously I am new to iWeb and web design in general for that matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there anyway to spruce up the video boxes themselves, or is that the only look it can have on the site? Thanks in advance.

You could put the video on another page and put links under the QT video. Hide the page in the navbar and add your own link on the QT page.
I would have thought that most people have QT but as I don't use a PC what do I know!! Isn't it usually Macs that can't play windows formats not the other way round?

  • Enquiries on whether fla can be linked to another fla, swf to flv or other video format and buttons to an animation

    I have 3 enquiries.
    1) How do I embed another fla within fla.
For example, I am working on a fla, is it possible to create
a link to another fla via a button?
    2) How do i convert a swf file into a flv file or any other
video format like avi, mp4, etc?
I am asking this because I realized when I try to import a
swf into my fla file, I could only bundle it for mobile. Neither
the progressive nor the streaming nor the embeding options could be
    checked.
    3) After adding tweening motion to an animation, is it
possible to add buttons to play/pause? Do I have to write a script
to enable the buttons to work?
    I tried adding buttons (Windows>components>video),
however, the buttons were not functioning like the case when I
imported a video. I think it's because adding tweening to an
animation doesn't really dismiss it as a video file.
I would greatly appreaciate if anyone could post a solution
    to my problems.
    Thanks.

I am not so sure that this is a bug, and I have not been able to reproduce this behavior that you are describing.
But you can lock it from editing by right-clicking on the graph and go to Properties>>Appearance>>Enabled State --> Disabled
Also, word of advice for the future: You will get more replies from the community with shorter posts and keeping it to one question per post. Summarize what the issue is, and put the detailed documentation and instructions to reproduce in the actual VI.

  • Make iTunes recognize other video formats

    Hello folks,
I am trying to import wide variety of video formats in iTunes. Frankly, the days have gone that we have to use strictly mp4, there are many players that can play other formats so I don't want to re-encode the videos to mp4. Hence it brings me to the question, how do I make iTunes recognize other video formats. If QuickTime can play all the video formats then why iTunes can not?
Apparently, there are ways around for mac but I did not find any for windows. I will be glad if anyone can flash some light.
    Thanks in advance.
(P.S. - I know, I can bring videos to iPad without them being in iTunes but I find it good to have all videos in library.)

That's not how it's supposed to work according to this: http://www.griffintechnology.com/support/italkpro/
By default, a playlist will be created in iTunes called "Voice Memos" and those files will be transferred there automatically. The files themselves can be found on your computer in your iTunes Music folder in Unknown Artist > Unknown Album.
It may be worth working through any trouble shooting articles on that site.

  • What software will convert a NCOR file to other video formats?

Since Encore will only write to a disc, disc image, or Flash, what software will convert a NCOR file to other video formats?

Now that I have more information, here's the issue in summary:
A coworker is working on a training program for facilitators, total 3.5 hours long.
Part of it includes a video, after which the viewer should be able to select one of several vignettes, smaller videos. At the conclusion of those, the viewer should be able to print a certificate.
The coworker created a video in Adobe Premier, and then accompanying menus in Adobe Encore.  If we heard them right, the web developers said that the entire project (videos and menus) must be in MPEG-4, and we discovered that Encore can't do that. Encore could do it in Flash; the developers do not want that.
I think what is going on here is a misunderstanding. It sounds like they want an interactive presentation. The video can be MPEG-4 from Premier. The Menu interactivity is something else, since MPEG-4 is not interactive. Flash is the only way I know of to keep the interactivity. Someone needs to ask the web developers what they are expecting.
What do you guys suggest, besides a plain old HTML menu page with hyperlinked buttons on it?

  • HT1473 No error when adding inappropriate video format to iTunes

When I choose unsupported video format it tells nothing and just ignore my request. I spent 2 hours struggling with that you call "user friendly" interface. Completely disappointed...

You have to convert them to MPEG-4 files to play them back to your iPod. I suggest using Videora iPod Converter to re-encode your video files to MPEG4

  • Any api/tools to convert other video format to 3GPP format?

i want to convert video format other than 3GPP format to 3GPP format(many j2me mobile support this format). NOKIA provide Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 to do this manually , but what i want is to convert it at the server side (the use case is: a user upload his/her video clip to a server and the server logic convert it to 3GPP format which can be played by most mobiles)
is there any java api on this?
    thanks in advance!
    daniel

Hi, I need to do so, but just a subset of 3GPP, I want to convert any WAV audio file to AMR audio file(GPP). I found a C library(Ericsson) and others tools(Win32 .Exe). But I need a API for Encoding/Decoding AMR. Do any have any idea?.

  • Export to AVI or other video format

Can Captivate export to video format for use on DVD?
    Shane

Rick's right (natch) that you can't do this directly from
Captivate. However, there are some SWF-to-Video converter utilities
(see below) that may provide a workaround. The results may or may
not be satisfactory depending on the nature of your project.
For example, if it is a simple self-running "Demonstration",
it may work great. However, if you have interactivity (buttons,
click boxes, question slides, etc.), then none of this interactivity
will work on the DVD, because those features are provided by the
Flash format and the Flash Player which the DVD format doesn't
    understand.
For DVD (Mpeg) I have experimented with three utilities in
the past (see below) that gave reasonable results. You would want
to download trials first to make sure one of these works for your
particular project. They are in the $70-$90 range.

  • Transferring 8mm and other video formats

I'm doing lots of video projects in FCE for people with older video formats like 8mm. I was going to just buy a 8mm camcorder to play these tapes because I figured I can get one relatively inexpensive ($100 or so) and just use it as my player. I know there are also player decks for these tapes that are more expensive ($300ish) and I was just wondering what other video editors out there were using? An old camera or did you buy a player. Any tips or advice regarding brands, places to look, would be appreciated.

    Hello There,
You will need to buy a Digital8 camcorder. FCE won't take the regular 8 or Hi8 video without it being converted to digital. A Digital8 camcorder can play regular 8 and Hi8 tapes and can also convert them for use with FCE.

i also want to know what way is best to store and view some .mod files or moi files. I have air video which works great for divx files but not the ones i want ex my video camera
    any help greatly received
main reason for the ipad is to create a central hub for viewing pics and videos on and streaming to tv in background when we have parties or just remenicising

Unfortunately, the playback of non-iOS-native video formats (everything except mov / mp4 / m4v) is horrible through Apple TV and it, because of the inherent speed restrictions of Wi-Fi, can't be helped other than:
    - pre-converting your video files to mov / mp4 / m4v before playing them. (THis is the best solution.) For this, you will want to use the absolutely best and fastest video converter, the free(!!!) HandBrake. Don't ever think of paying any money for any video converter - most other titles are way inferior to HandBrake. (See http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/benchmark-excellent-multimedia-converter-handb rake-vs-commercial-apps for more info on this q.)
    - using a VGA or HDMI adapter and connecting your TV directly to the iPad.
In the thread at https://discussions.apple.com/message/18697551?ac_cid=sa123456#18697551 , we've also discussed this problem (AirPlay vs. cabled playback)

  • Will Apple TV support other video formats?

most of my collection is in AVI format. until other codecs are supported its of no use to me whatsover.

Have a look at awkwardtv.org (wiki), there you can find out how to play avi and others by installing ATVFiles and Perian plugins. Perhaps this quide is helpful:
    http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/10/how-to-play-divx-and-xvid-on-your-apple-tv
Have a look at the list of supported file formats!
There is also a brand new plugin which plays files using mplayer: nitoTV (youtube video)
Hopefully the Patchstick is ready soon!

  • How do I convert FLV video files to Mpeg (or any other video format?)

I have about 60 flv files I need to convert to mpeg and am using MPEGSTREAMCLIP 1.9.1 but every file loses all audio. Ive tried converting to every format MPEGSTREAMCLIP can do and all lose all audio. Anybody have any idea why this is or is there some other free file converter I should use for flvs?
Ive also tried VISUALHUB but for some reason these flv's are not compatible with it.
    Thanx in advance!

"Ive also tried VISUALHUB but for some reason these flv's are not compatible with it."
Now that is strange. Are you using v1.34.1? I converted a few flv files a few weeks ago without any issue.
Video Monkey utility took over from where VH left off. Try it. It's free & claims to be just like VH including +"ease of use."+

  • Just got a new Macbook Air. How can I get quicktime to play wmv and other video formats?

I just purchased a new Macbook Air. I have loaded quicktime, but it doesn't play all formats such as wmv and others. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac and operating system, of:
    RealPlayer SP for Mac from:
    http://www.real.com/realplayer/mac
Flip4Mac WMV Player from  http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm  (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from  http://perian.org/
You should read this support page  http://perian.org/#support   in case you need to delete older codecs.  In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them), particularly any DivX extension to Safari. However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from  http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Video Formats - can AVI, MPG etc be added to the N...

    Hi,
    PLEASE HELP!!
I have just bought a Nokia N95 & I am loving it!! the only let downs for me is the Flash (there are some much better qualitiy camera phones/flashes out there), & the Video Formats.
I am trying to find out if you can play other video formats on the N95 such as AVI,MPG etc.
people keep telling me I can convert them, but I would much rather be able to install another player that supports those formats straight away so no conversions have to be done.
    does something like this exist??
    Cheers,
    Matt :-)

There are various additional video player apps for the N95; SmartMovie, Core Player, DivX player, etc.
In any case, if the video files you are trying to use is using display resolution, frame rates, or other attributes that the phone or those players cannot handle, you will still have to use a converter first.
Search this application catalog for other video players apps (like those I mentioned above):

or any other software recommend to cover all of them?
    cheers,

    Merry Xmas to you too!
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear/play pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 11.1 for Mac from:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
NOTE: On December 8, 2009 Adobe announced plans to drop Flash Player security support next year for Mac owners whose machines run PowerPC processors.
"Adobe will be discontinuing support of PowerPC-based G3 computers and will no longer provide security updates after the Flash Player 10.1 release," said Adobe in the same advisory that spelled out the seven patches. "This unavailability is due to performance enhancements that cannot be supported on the older PowerPC architecture."
After Flash Player 10.1, which is slated to ship in the first half of 2010, Adobe's newest software will run only on Intel-based Macs.
    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?email&NewsID=28011
You should also consider the Shockwave Player, which displays Web content that has been created by Adobe Director, much used for multimedia: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/513
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002 and 003). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4:
    http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
Recommendation: Close all applications before installing any of the above, repair permissions, reboot, and repair permissions again.
