Adding pages to our computer

Apple support,
Our new Mac desktop does not have Pages, how to we get it? Also, how to we get documents and photos on our Mac laptop sent to our Mac desktop? Thank you!
Rick Hancock

You are not running iOS 8.1.3 on your Mac, what are you running?
To get Pages open the App Store and search for Pages then click on that and either Get or purchase.
Depending on what version of OS X you are running on both Macs you can Share a folder over your network, use iCloud, DropBox or similar, iCloud Drive, or simply drag your files onto a USB stick and walk them over.

By synching our computer and tablet together with our new iphone, we lost all our critical calendar data. How do we get it back? The help info, HT4901, was the closest info from the Help pages but it assumed we were already on icloud and had simply disconnected our calendar from icloud. Actually, we were simply trying to synch our devices by signing up with icloud for the first time, so it seems our calendar never had a chance to get uploaded. In any case, how do you reconnect / re-access a calendar on icloud?

If your calendar does not appear on icloud.com it never uploaded to iCloud.  If it is no longer on your computer you would have to restore it from a backup source such as Time Machine to restore it.

  • Adding iMatch to a computer

Now that I've been able to authorize this computer (thank you for the help!!!), how do I activate iMatch.  I have already paid the subscription and it's on my desktop computer, iPad and iPhone.  How do I get it added back to this computer?  Everytime I click on iMatch in the Store, it takes me to the "get started" button, which I click on then it takes me back to the same page that only allows for iCloud information.  The most frustrating set up I've ever encountered!!!!!

I know, but when I click on it, then click on "get started" it exits and goes back to the previous screen.  It doesn't recognize that I have already purchased it and it doesn't give me the option to activate it on this computer.

    Holvi,
You will probably be able to find the iWork'09 DVD at Amazon or similar online vendor. Install from the DVD and immediately run Software Update to get to the latest version.
The Terms of Use here dictate that we test our suggestions before posting, but obviously I'm not going to try this myself, so there's an element of risk, but it seems your only option. It has worked for users in the past, but you never know how OS upgrades can change such things. If you go this route, please post back with your results.
    Good luck,

    Hello everyone,
I keep encountering the following error in this directory

I tried creating a new directory on the server and placed the

    files.
I also attempted to create a new page in that very same
directory (using new files) using a template - which worked, but
after I published and tried to edit it again, I get the same error.
    Please advise.

No ideas at all? This issue hurts our ability to continuing

  • Downloaded Yosemite two days ago; now we can't log back on to our computer. We've reset username and password and are still unable to use the computer.

We've had our Mac for 8 years, with so so satisfaction.  Two days ago we downloaded the latest version of Yosemite, and now we are unable to access our computer. Right after the download, it was working fine--it was when we shut it down for the nigh and then tried to boot it up again that we ran into trouble. We can't get past the log-in screen since our username and password no longer work. We tried resetting both, but still nothing. We've used the same username and password since we got the computer, and we've NEVER had trouble with it. Now we can't even use the Mac at all, and I don't know how to troubleshoot it since there are no options on the log in page.
    Thanks!

  • Moving iweb pages from another computer to my laptop

I am a teacher using iweb to compose an online newspaper for our school. I had students work in groups to create their pages: sports page, travel page, etc...
Now I want to compile the separate pages onto my computer in order to publish on our school website, but I can't figure out how to move the pages students created into my iweb program. This is a lot of work on their part, and when I try to copy and paste the information it messes with the formatting and doesn't move pictures. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

    I am assuming the following.....
    1) this notice is posted in the wrong area of the support pages because you are using a computer with Mac OS 10.5.6. This forum is for pre-iWeb 08 users. I assume you are using iWeb 08.
    2) Your students are using more than one Mac computer to create their web pages
    3) You are using yet another Mac computer to create your compilation page.
The problem is this, iWeb stores all the information on a file it calls "domain" and it is stored on the individual Mac computer. Each *WEB SITE* and *WEB PAGE* within each site is in this *ONE FILE*.
You are going to be able to do what you are hoping to accomplish, but you are going to have to learn a few more things than you want about your Mac and iWeb
The problem is this - iWeb doesn't save the pages as individual document files. I think you were hoping to take the individual files and combine them to make your "master site." On the contrary, iWeb is saving each page as it's own "master site."
It would be easier to just have the students use 1 computer to do their individual work. However, it is probably too late for that.
I had a similar problem when I first started using iWeb to create my school site (http://podcast.derryasd.k12.pa.us/concerts --- notice: there is no "www" in the address)
Here is a suggestion --- it is going to take some time for you because you are going to have to take the students' work and basically redo it by copying and pasting each aspect of the page into your "master page" on your computer.
iWeb will publish each individual website that the students created on their individual Macs to a file
    iWeb>File>Publish to a folder.
Have the students publish to a folder and save it to a disc/flash drive, etc and give it to you. I'm not an expert at this, and my problem was quite a while ago, but I do remember my frustration so I'll try to help here by remembering the way I did it.... which takes me to another assumption. I assume that you don't need to keep the site that you have created on your "master computer". If you want to start from scratch, just delete everything from your iWeb site on your master computer. You will need to create a new site. (iWeb>File>New Site.)
You will then need to create individual pages for each of the student pages. (You can do this one page at a time.) You will have to choose the same templates that your students choose. You will have to take your students' work that they saved to a drive, or CD/DVD and open it and place their window (probably open in Safari) next to your iWeb window. Then you can drag copy or cut and paste as necessary all the info from the students' page into your master page. Save it and then continue the process until you have all the individual pages copied to your master file.
Then you can upload it to your school district's server to publish the site.
I hope this helps. I remember how frustrated I was when I was getting started -- I have no desire to use anything but iWeb now that I understand how it works.

  • I have three different ipods with music on them and have had to replace our computer as it was in a fire. How can we combine the ipods into one ipod.

We had to replace our computer due to a fire and lost many of the fiels which were on them. Many were music files for the ipods, we have thre. Also, do not have ID's and passwords to the iTunes store.
How can we combine the information so that they are all in each one or at least compbine everything into one ipod?

Just so you know the method suggested by Nelsonleee will cost your $29.95 USD, Yamipod is free.

  • My grandson deleted all the data from his ipod touch . all he gets when he turns it on is a gray screen and an apple logo. Our computer no longer recognizes the ipod nor does itunes, Help.

My grandson delted all data from his ipod touch {thinking he was deleting his songs.] Now all he gets when he turns it on is a gray screen with an apple logo. We do not have it backed up nor was it ever turned on to itunes. We purchased it used from a co worker and didnt get that far.. Our computers do not recognise it as any thing nor does itunes when we have it plugged into itunes. Any way to fix this? Apple support will remote into our computer to fix it. For $ 99.00. Well needless to say he used all his savings to buy the ipod so ......  Any free ideas??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I was sent a .pages doc.  When I try to open it with pages I'm told "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." I have the newest version of pages on my computer. What should I do?

I wonder if you are running an OS earlier than 10.9.x?  If so, you cannot run the *latest* version of Pages, which is 5.1.  Apple is trying to get you to update your OS to 10.9 Mavericks and then get you to update (but defintiely not upgrade) your Pages version to 5.1.  5.1 is, in everything but name, beta software. It not only has many bugs, it also lacks more than 90 features that are present in version 4.3 ("Pages 09"). One workaround that is to open the file with Pages for icloud (this is explcitly beta) and click tools|download a copy in Word format.  Pages 4.3, which is probably the version you have, can open Word documents.  Get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine before starting Pages for icloud: it is s-l-o-w.

  • How do I separate my iPhone from our computer's iTunes? Leave music behind.

My wife and I have shared our home computer for years. The iTunes library has been used by her for her music collection. She has also used iCal and Address Book for her contacts.
A year ago I bought an iPhone and have been using iTunes to sync all the apps and stuff. BUT I have never synched to iCal, Music Lib, Address Book etc. I just use it to back-up my phone.
I have set up a new user on our computer for myself, I want to use the new user account for my iPhone. So, I need to get the Apps, Notes and Contacts moved to the new account, but leaving the music and everything else behind.
    How do I do this?
I've tried looking at authorising and de-authorising, but I don't know what I'm doing and don't want to lose any music, apps etc. I tried authorising the phone on the new user account but I get a message saying that the phone is already authorised to this computer...
    iPhone is a 3GS on 4.2.1

The info provided is somewhat conflicting. You indicated you haven't synced music, only apps.
If there is any music on your iPhone, was the music purchased on your iPhone with your wife's iTunes account? Or if you have your own iTunes account, was the music on your iPhone purchased with your iTunes account? And if you have your own iTunes account, how about the apps?
If you plan on using your wife's iTunes account which was used for all apps and music on your iPhone downloaded from the iTunes store, you need to authorize iTunes with the same iTunes account under your computer login account.
With your iPhone connected to iTunes under your computer login account, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendar events with iCal under your computer login account, enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal under your computer login account. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
Syncing notes is with the Mail.app, which is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences.

  • Really confused here. I have somehow created both a managed account and an administrator account. The admin acct is now highlighted in system preferences. We are now blocked from using our computer because parental controls keeps popping up.

In attempting to add a music lesson program for my daughters band lessons we have messed up our computer. I now have both a managed account and an administrator account (both in my name).  It is using the managed account now and not letting use the Internet because parental controls keep popping up. I would like to delete the managed account and get back to the admin account but I have no idea what my login is for the admin account. We have never had to use it before this problem started and what we thought it was when we set it up does not work. Any ideas?

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know that account password, the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

how do you scan multiple pages to my computer using an HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one printer?

    Hi @carolpaige
I would be happy to help you scan multiple pages. What operating system, and version do you have? Mac or Windows?
You will need to save your files as PDF, and when you choose the PDF format you will see an option to have all scanned pages saved as a single file. Knowing your operating system will help me to provide you with more detailed instructions.

My husband changed the Apple ID on our computer.  For some reason, iCloud has the old Apple ID and it won't let me change it.  I've been locked out of my iPad twice and had to restore it because of iCloud.  How do I change the Apple ID (not the password)?

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.
