Adding parameter to existing CR report

Hi everybody,
I created a CR report based on a SAP query. Then I changed this query by adding a variable. This variable appeared as a new parameter in Crystal but I can't get values from the master data for this parameter. When I select the InfoObject in the Value Field and try to append database values I get the screen Enter Values where I should enter values not only for the parameter I need but also other parameters. Based on the value entry I'm getting an "Error in file UNKNOWN.RPT; Failed to logon to CR Object Repository; (rptcontrollers.dll)" or sometimes another error "(datadefmodel.dll)".
On the other side, if I try to create new report based on this query everything works fine, values for all parameters are loaded automatically but I don't want to do that if it's not necessary.
I'm using CR 2008 with SP2, Query Designer 7.0.

Infact, The LOV's in the parameters in CR is from infoprovider level , not directly from master data.
what is that you are expecting now?

Kindly refer SAP Note 1376117 & 1454192 and verify if you are on the approriate patch.

Adding a folder to an existing disco report adds unnecessary table joins

Hello,
I have recently created a new disco folder and adding it to existing reports is causing the reports to error out after running for ever. When I had a look at the SQL inspector, what is happening is that a table ( which was already on the report prior to my amendments and is the table my new folder joins to) is being queried twice. When i build the query from scratch using exactly the same folders, this issue does not happen. The users are used to the already existing reports and all they want to do is add extra information from this new folder. It would be a big ask to expect them to build new reports from scratch. Kindly get back to me with any ideas. I am going to try to change my registry settings and see if it makes a difference

No, the new folder is made up of only one table. The table that is being replicated is the underlying table of a folder by nre folder joins to and already exists in my report. This is the scenario: My current report has the personal details and address tables. I am now adding a folder that brings in the job details into the report

How to pass parameter from FM to report without changing interface of FM

I f you want to pass any parameter from FM to Report or Vice-versa, parameter should me maintained in the FM otherwoise you can't pass any other than existing parameters.
Otherwise create a custom FM.

Need to restrict users from adding or modifying folders or reports

Requirement: Need to restrict users from adding or modifying folders or reports through Info view and to reflect the modifications only thriough LCM.
Issue: Customer wants to restrict users from adding or modifying existing reports from Infoview and need to force users to do make the changes through Life cycle manager tool.
As per my understanding LCM can only be used to to promote folders and objects from one environment to another and to schedule the promotion of these jobs on a daily basis.My query is:
Can we add or modify existing reports or folders using the LCM tool?
Could you please help me out in this issue and provide me your suggestions.

You can not restrict that using LCM. Need to modify the rights at the folder level.
Explicitly remove the following rights for the user group,
Add objects to the folder
Edit objects
Delete objects
Copy objects to another folder (check this if required)
Once the above four are denied then users wont be able to Edit/Add/Delete reports in that folder.

Problems with parameter button in Crystal Report Server 2008

Dear all,
I have problems with parameter button in Crystal Report Server 2008.
when I created some parameters and groups in Crystal Report 2008, they showed both parameters in 'Parameter button' and group in 'Group button' on the left, so I can choose or type without clicking 'Refresh button' But when I added it to Crystal Report Server 2008 and I click parameter button , it doesn't show any parameter. Only click refresh button to choose them. On the other hand, for 'Group Tree' is ok. When go to Default Setting-> Parameter, all parameters are in 'Unused parameter' First time I think I had problems with my installation, but when I reinstalled it again, it was like before.
Could any one help me with this?

Calling an existing ALV report in WD4A

Im going to try to call an existing ALV report using WD4A.
Was wondering if anybody has used the "SUBMIT <report> EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY" option to get the results table, then after IMPORTING from memory, display this in ALV in Webdynpro abap?

I was able to acomplish the following way...
My WD4A component has an assistance class, has a method fetch_results, in that method, I pass my selection criteria which calls a function.
The function does this...
SUBMIT REPORTXYZ
USING SELECTION-SET lv_variant
AND RETURN
    WITH pnppernr IN pnppernr
    WITH pnpbegps EQ act_begda
    WITH pnpendps EQ act_endda

My p_portal parameter is a flag that REPORTXYZ will use to export the it_output to memory.
I then import that table to the function module which returns to WD4A alv.
IMPORT zit_output TO tbl_output FROM MEMORY ID
    lv_flag.

Adding condition table into pricing report-reg

We have a requirement to add additional condition tables in an existing pricing report. Is there a way to include the condition tables through V/LB or we have to delete the existing pricing report and create the new one with the required tables. Please suggest..

i don have RAS(Because in beta version of 2008 is this not included)

so But both doesnt work!

URL reporting and RAS are not available with CR2008. To view reports over the web you will need to use the Crsytal Reports for .NET runtime engine inside a .NET app. This engine is licensed with CR 2008.

How to get Description of parameter filed in Crystal report 2008

Hi expert,
I am creating a crystal report from Query ,which is created in BEX Query designer 7.
In query designer i have some selection variable.
The requirement from clint is that they want to see what value is selected for all variable.
when i tried to put all parameter field in crystal report it is showing only Technical name of value selected not description and also it show only for variable which is single value variable not for the range value variable and multiple selection variable.
can any one help me How to get description of value in report and can it is possible to show Range value and multiple value for a particular variable .
i am using Crystal report 2008 SP3 version.

Passing date parameter from forms to report

Hi,
I'm using forms and reports 6i.
I want to pass one date parameter from forms to reports.
Using
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_FROM_DATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:FROM_DT);
giving me error REP-0091- Invalid value for parameter 'P_FROM_DATE'
This i think is because report expects date and here it is converted as varchar.

Correct.
Open the report in the builder and under Data Model -> User Parameters, Go to the Property Inspector of P_FROM_DATE. Under Parameter, set Datatype as Character instead of Date.
Hope this should work. and tell me if it works(coz it wokred for me).

How to copy existing query report into new query report in SQ00

(list of vendor address) for this i done as following:
1.In SQ01 go to "EDIT->other user group" and i selected user group as /SAPQUERY/FK
2.I typed F1 in query field and click change button
3.I clicked next screen button and entered into "change query f1: select fields screen".here i clicked "basic list" button and searched company code checkbox and saved it as result company code is appearing in the standard report"AQZZ/SAPQUERY/FKF1============"
but unfortunately there is no region field(LFA1-REGIO) for this i think i should copy the existing query report into new query report(Ex:Z_LIST_OF_VEND) which should be 14 characters.please tell me briefly how to do this because this is first time i am using SQ00.
one more issue is when i selected "edit-otheruser group" and choosing /SAPQUERY/FK i am getting only infoset "/SAPQUERY/FIKD" but i should need Info set: "/SAPQUERY/FIDD" please tell me how to add the previous one into user group.i think if i got /SAPQUERY/FIDD into usergroup /SAPQUERY/FK i can add region also into Query report as i mentioned above by going SQ01 ...............................
please help regarding this which should be very beneficiary to my carrier.

Printing parameter values in xml report, and displaying it in header of the

Can anybody give me an idea to print the parameter values in the xml report.
My requirement is like, I have 10 parameters in report builder, I have generated the xml file and created the .rtf template and finally registerted in oracle apps. But now, the requirement is to print the parameter values in the report output.I don't see any xml tags in the xml output.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I think all the XML attributes can contain lexicals. If you bring up the property palette against the report object you can just set the following:
XML Tag Attributes: myParameter="&<P_1>"
where P_1 is your user parameter.

One parameter for multiple Crystal reports in Publication

Does anyone know if it is possible to enter one identical parameter for multiple Crystal reports in publication when scheduling? BOE 3.1 SP3 Windows, Java.
To elaborate I am creating publication with multiple reports, each report has one parameter and this parameter is identical in every report in publication. So instead of entering this parameter many times I would like to enter once.
If yes point me in the right direction to get the how to or post the steps.

Thank you so much for your answer. It was very helpful. In the end, it didn't work but it helped me figure out what was happening. I use a different form for the reports and I had it coded in the form which report to use. I created a second form for the second crystal and then I used an if statement to choose the form and it worked like a charm.
