Adding pc to i match fails

When i try to add my newer windows 7 pc to i match, itunes always malfunctions and has to close when it is scanning the library.  I have the latest version of itunes installed also.  I was able to do it on my pc which has xp service pack 2 after i installed the latest itunes version on it, but im stumped on this one.  has anyone else had this problem and how do you resolve it.  The reason i subscribed to icloud in the first place is that i was trying to fix the problem of itunes thinking that the music i had on my two different computers was two different libraries, and not the same one which it is. I've only used one apple id, the same one, on both of them.  I can only put music from one computer or the other on my  iphone, not both, because it thinks there are two different libraries.  I need help!

I just did the same kind of network here. I am running Vista on a laptop and there as no software to install to gain internet access. Maybe check your AEBS settings to verify that you aren't broadcasting the SSID. If you are, then there is a box to uncheck show that it remains visible.
The only software to install would be Bonjour for Windows, but only if you wanted the PC to share a network printer.
Good luck.

  • ITunes Match fails to match recently ripped CD. Can I avoid matching this CD?

I have a CD from a band that is not available on iTunes that I've loaded to my MacBook Pro. As expected iTunes Match can't match this album. As a result, iTunes Match fails to proceed past the third step of the matching process and continously loops. How can I stop this album from being part of the match process?

    Hi,
What format have you ripped the CD? There are problems with some ALAC and AIFF files.
If the cd is in your iTunes library, there is no way of stopping match process. Once cd has been uploaded there is a workaround to make remove the tracks from the cloud and not your library.
However, to resolve your current problem you may need to delete the tracks.

  • Gatekeeper tech/zone match failed

    Hi
Im a little rusty on gk's hence my post. Basically we have a few h323 endpoints registered to our gatekeeper, the registration is active and all is well for external pstn and IP calling...The problem is receiving external pstn calls to the endpoint. It doesnt connect to the device and forwards the call to our mcu unit. The endpoints do not have isdn connectivity directly, this happens through a dedicated video gateway with a range configured.
I can see the fault, I ran the command gatekeeper main 10 (see below)

The get addrinfo does not match the tech-preifx and has a unresolved zone prefix. I changed the e164 to 706 number quickly to test incoming pstn calls and it connected ok, i cant keep the e164 at 706 ( it actually needs to be 3768) - what do i need to change so incoming calls can be handed off direct to the endpoint thus establishing a call?
Summary with example...e1 with range 6357XX to 6357XX plugged directly into 3526 Cisco gateways which is registered to gatekeeper for call handling. incoming call made to endpoint is 635706 doesnt get matched in gk and hands off to MCU. how do i change this!!!!
    Thanks guys!!!

  • Literally hundreds of "family specific matching fails"

I have my Mac set to boot up in "verbose". Today I restarted because the My Book firewire locked up (restarting fixed it). As the OS booted, I saw literally hundreds of "family specific matching fails" messages, separated in blocks of 10 or more, for everything from USB ports to the Apple keyboard to stuff I didn't even recognize. I'd say there were more "FSMF" lines than all the other booting lines combined. Is this normal? Is it a sign of something gone wrong?
    Thanks in advance.
PS If you need a copy of a log or something, please tell me where to look and/or how to enable logging of the boot text.

The answer may be in your message:
    (A) . . . the My Book firewire locked up;
    (B) family specific matching fails
The two are almost certainly related and the matching appears to relate to devices that the system may not be able to find (temporarily, perhaps).
Perhaps some drivers are causing problems: have you installed new hardware recently? I would restart with as little hardware connected as possible and see what happens then. I would also consider some maintenance routines: at least booting with the system disk and running the repair utility; perhaps even buying Disk Warrior (good for a standby anyway -- when you need it, it is to late).
Any logs needed are in Console, in the Applications>Utilities folder.
Why on earth start up in Verbose mode?

  • IGPU: Family Specific Matching Fails

    Dmesg shows this in it:
    *IGPU: family specific matching fails*
I personally don't like the sound of the word fails, makes me think something might wrong and I can't find any answers online anywhere to this.
I would greatly appreciate some insight into this...
    THANKS

I've heard someone say it's when the OS is booting up and it's looking at the hardware and the graphics isn't ready and the OS doesn't know what it is, so it gives a failure reply, like I don't know what this is, type of a message...

  • Family specific matching fails......

Hmm, i guess I must have posted this problem to the "admin" forum by mistake. so rather than repost it i summarize briefly:
I have been having a crash problem and it seems to be getting worse.
GEAR--I have a G4 AGP, with 8xxRAM 1.3giggle cpu three firewire devices, Maxtor HD, buffalo HD and lacie dvd burner (multi recorder). I upgraded the internal DVD to a Samsung burner a long while ago. I am using OS 10.4.10
This problem showed up about 3 days ago, and the only thing i have been doing differently is that I recently started to work with some "invisible files" for a web server project. I have been using Text Edit; PageSpinner; various browsers, Safari, IE, Firefox, and all of these apps are up to date. (sept 18)it bit twice: once earlier in the afternoon; Finder froze up when I selected a different HD to open a file. It then crashed after a period of the SBBodeath. Then this evening I was trying to get a path correct to a file with Explorer while I had several safari windows open, and Terminal and PageSpinner. When everything started popping off I tried to open console and it too ditched out.
I have run fsck with single user start up each time after these crashes and I got a bizarre message(s) repeated for 10 or 20 lines: "IOUSB Interface: family specific matching fails". This _family specific matching fails_ part of the message is repeated for +almost every+ peripheral device: hard drives, scanner, mouse and keyboard. Yesterday I had a long session without any crash
the crash log snippets are over at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5378484#5378484
Yesterday late and first thing this morning I did a "single user" start and fsck and surprise surprise "mr family specific fail" showed up again.
    what does this mean?
    best regards, vilppu

  • ITunes Match fails to upload songs in Step 3

This is an update to my earlier post on this problem.
During Step 3, when iTunes Match is supposed to upload non-iTunes Store music and artwork, it fails for an unknown reason and repatedly attemps the process all over again. This continues until aborted by the user.
After several months of frustrated tinkering, one of the iTunes Senior Advisors, suggested a solution that did solve the probelm. The solution is to limit the upload speed of the router to something less than 3 Mbps. Apparently, with high speed uploads either the iTunes Match server or iTunes itself cannot cope with the data flow and the upload process crashes with no indication to the user. While this solved my problem and my approximately 1,500 songs eventually uploaded, it did take more than 10 hours. But its done and my compete library is now on iTunes Match.
I pointed out to Apple that this solution was, in my opinion, a serious flaw in the iTunes Match offering and that Apple needs to address the problem.
My ISP provider is Comcast and I typically get download speeds of 28 Mbps and upload speeds of 5 Mbps. Obviously the 5 Mbps is too fast for the iTunes Match ecosystem. I was able to adjust the upload speed by changing the QoS settings of my Linksys router and giving iTunes a priority over other apps.
Hopefully this post helps out others with the saem problem.

The -2114 error, typically occurs when trying to download / stream an uploaded Song file.  The error tends to be intermittant and may simply indicate a failing server in the Apple infrastructure.
Local action, wait for a period and re-try - usually successful - once working, ensure you download and backup a secure local version - or simply restore a good version from existing local backup.

  • ITunes Match fails to upload songs

I am posting this as information for other hapless iTunes Match users with the same problem.
When I first subscribed to iTunes Match it successfully completed Steps 1 and 2 but failed to complete Step 3, where it uploads songs and artwork not found in the iTunes Store. The failure mechanism is that the screen "dims" and the process starts all over again. Cycling like this indefintely and never uploading any songs. However, those songs that could be matched were, and made available in iCloud for my iOS devices and Apple TV.
I have spent 4 weeks trading emails with an iTunes Senior Advisor, who reports that the engineers have told her that the issue is with Match and not my computer or songs (library). During this time my Match account was refunded so that I could try again, however, the results were the same and I have requested a second refund and will not use Match.
One of the experiments that I conducted was to create a new, and clean, iTunes Library and populate it with only six albums (to reduce testing time). Three albums were iTunes Store purchases and three were known to not be in the Store, thus had to be uploaded. Match completed its process with only the purchased albums but failed, in the manner described above, with the ones to be uploaded. Deleting iTunes preference files and having iTunes rebuild its XML library file had no effect on the problem.
Since Match obviously works for some people (but not for me) there must be an obscure issue with my libray or the Match servers, or both. Hopefully someone smarter than myself has some ideas.

  • ITunes MATCH fails to load on iPhone4 after updating to IOS 6

iTunes MATCH is failing to fully load (display) on 1 of my 2 iPhone4 telephones after updating both to IOS 6.  (My wife and I share the iTunes MATCH library using the same ID).
I have tried Signing Out and back In to iTunes, plus I have tried turning iTunes MATCH On & Off for this one iPhone 4 device, but the iTunes MATCH still fails to load.
The furtherest it ever gets is to display my previous Playlists and my Artists, Albums, etc that are in the cloud ...but the actual songs that are in the MATCH cloud never ever appear at all ...even after waiting hours!
The IOS 6 update seemed to work fine for both of our iPhone version 4 phones, but like I said above, only 1 of the phones is able to play music from iTunes MATCH now.  This previous worked fine under IOS 5.1 for almost a year.
We also own an Apple TV 2nd generation and an iMAC with OS X 10.6.x, ...and those 2 device are also able play music that we have stored in the iTunes MATCH cloud with No Problem.
The issue seems to be with only this one phone.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Does anyone have a suggested fix for this?

This helped me my repair my iPhone4's locally corrupted iTunes library (which calls my iTunes Match account) for all my music and music-video collection!  It took all of 5 minutes to repair.
    1. Google/download/install iExplorer (free program).
    2. Plug in iPad or iPhone first, then open iExplorer.
    3. Delete the iPad\Media\iTunes_Control folder's 3 Media SQL files.
    4. Turn on iCloud/match in iPhone's (iPad's) iOS settings, which replaced the iPads music library with iCloud
A big THANK YOU to Michael Allbritton for pointing my in the direction of this solution!
    Finally a note to Apple:
You will have to incorporate a way for users to view and self-repair the inner workings of their appliances if you wish to continue to sucessfully compete in this market ...remember what happened to Nokia for not forseeing the touch screen display many years ago!  I would never expect my Mother, my young wife or even my teenage son to download something like "iExplorer" and use it to delete 3 corrupted database files; therefore, dear Apple, please incorporate the self-diagnosis and repair functionality offered by an iPhone Explorer type system into your iTunes software ...or something similar to that!  Get with the program!

  • Is there a way to recommend iTunes adding songs to iTunes match?

I've been using iTunes match since it came out - and I wondered if there was a way to recommend to the powers that be songs or albums that would be nice to add to their matching service?
Yes - I am aware that they can upload my songs if they don't match - but the reason this is important to me is because the versions downloaded from their match service (whether I bought the original from iTunes or whether I ripped songs from my CDs) are pretty well equalized with regard to volume.   I find if I upload a newer song it comes out louder on playback and an older song is much lower.    (And I don't have the ears or time to go into a program like Audacity to equalize the volume on each and every song I want added - and it's annoying to have to adjust the volume during playback whenever I reach an uploaded song.)
I find it perplexing when I rip one of my CD's (case in point - very best of Jackson Browne) and most but not all the songs are matched.  (I'm not even referring to an obscure album cut - 'The pretender' - one of his biggest hits - doesn't match.)    I found this also on a top 40 song from the Four Tops' anthology and 'Carry on' - a CSN trademark song from CSN's greatest hits.    I mean - if they're going to match an artist's greatest hits album - why just some of the songs?
Also - Broadway cast albums are pretty hit and miss.   Two recent Tony Award-winning shows - the Pippin revival and the Carole King songbook musical - Beautiful - don't match.   (Actually - on Beautiful - the reprise of one of the songs matches and nothing else does.)
So bottom line - is there a way to recommend songs or albums for iTunes to add to their matching service?  I know recommending a song won't guarantee its placement - but at least they'll know there is some interest.
    Thanks!

Thanks, Jimz - I only rip my CDs as 320 mp3 - quality is good - but the volume is awry.    I have already discovered that if I'm using an unusual setting to begin with that I can get it to match if I convert the file to 320 mp3.  I know what you mean by 'the original track' as I have had success with some groups' initial CD and yet the song wouldn't match on a same-label greatest hits package or compilation.    And I'm not referring to those off-label compilations.  And I'm talking about hit songs - not various mixes of songs.
I would like (if anyone knows) where I can recommend  (or query the appropriate person at iTunes) albums and/or individual songs to be added by Apple to iTunes.    (Again - they might not be responsive - but at least they know someone wants them.)   I'm not going to die if I can't hear a song on my iPhone, but I don't put any non-matched songs there - I had at least a few incidents where I was walking or bicycling and an unmatched song came on and the volume was blasting much louder than the matched songs.
I do appreciate the time you took....
