Adding photo titles in web gallery iPhoto 8

When I publish photos to the web gallery in iPhoto 8 I have "show photo titles" checked in the options yet the titles never appear in the published album. What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto and reset your iPhoto preferences. Then reset the gallery settings and republish.
2 - delete the Web Gallery, recreate and publish it.
See if that will help.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Mess up when adding photos to a web gallery

    Hi everyone,
Once I have created a web gallery and the sync with mobileme has be done, everything is ok. But as soon as I add more photo to this web gallery, the sync with mobile me isstill ok, but the display on aperture is completly mess up. It display several times the same image so I can't organise them as I'd like to.
Anyone has experience this problem and find the fix ?
    Thanks.

Don't know if this helps you at all. It's not LR of course.....
In CS2 Adobe added two Flash-based templates you can use for your online Web Photo Gallery. Even cooler is the fact that you can now add a background music track to one of these Flash galleries. Just follow these steps: First find the MP3 audio track you want to use as your background music and rename the file as "useraudio.mp3". Then open your Photoshop CS2 application folder and navigate to Presets>Web Photo Gallery. Inside that folder look for either Flash Gallery 1 or Flash Gallery 2. Depending on which gallery you chose within Photoshop, drag-and-drop your audio file into the corresponding folder. That's it! You've got background music.

  • Quality of photos downloaded from web gallery

If someone downloads a photo from my web gallery, what quality is the photo? When you share a photo through email it asks you if you want to send it "Actual Size", "Large (higher quality), Medium, etc. Also, is the quality of a photo downloaded in a web gallery the same as a photo downloaded from my iWeb website?

If you select the option to let others download photos from the web gallery they will be downloading the full sized, pixel-wise, image. However, there will have been some jpg compression on the file. iPhoto does that so as to speed up uploading time and not fill up the iDisk as fast. The amount of compression is 9 on a scale of 1 to 12 where 12 is the highest quality. This was determined by saving the same file with Photoshop to different quality levels and comparing.
I was hardpressed to see any degradation in image until I compared them side by side at about 200% magnification. Exposure histograms for each image were the same.

  • Question:  How to edit and/or delete photos uploaded to web gallery?

My Dad uploaded some photos to my web gallery without renaming the photos. Is there any way I can go in and edit and/or delete these photos? Sorry if it's a dumb question... I'm new to iLife '08 (really new to iLife in general)... and for the life of me can't figure out how to edit and/or delete these photos (without deleting the whole library).
    Thanks for any help!
    Ciao ~ Louie

Guess I just answered my own question.
For anybody else that may be wondering...
From within iPhoto there is a "WEB GALLERY" tab in the left side menu. There you will see the name of your web gallery with a little icon that looks like an antenna. If you click on that icon... it will sync your web gallery photos that have been uploaded by other users into iPhoto. You can then edit and/or delete the photos within iPhoto and the edits will automatically change on the published web gallery (may depend on sync preferences... mine changed automatically).

  • Issue Updating Photo Names in Web Gallery

There is a sync issue with Web Galleries when the photo name is updated in iPhoto while another update is occurring simultaneously. The changes made in iPhoto are lost.
The 7.0.2 Update does not fix this issue.
It seems there should be the option to "update now" and make the web gallery look just like the iPhoto version.
    Anyone else have this issue?

    pschlampp:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The syncing works correctly for me. Try clearing out the iPhoto Cache folders that are in your User/Library/Caches folder and delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist that's in the User/Library/Preferences folder. See if that will let you update titles as intended.

  • No photo names in Web Gallery

I just uploaded a web gallery (password protected) and after going to the trouble of putting names on all the photos in iPhoto (prior to the upload) was disappointed to see none in my corresponding web gallery.
    What gives?

Click on the Setting button in the toolbar for your gallery and make sure you have the option to include titles checked.
Hint: You can put the description of the photos in the description field in the Info pane at the bottom of the source window and then use this script to batch copy them to the Name field before publishing the gallery. Then when you want to revert back to the original file name just use the Photos->Batch Change->Title to File Name.

  • Photo stuck in web gallery

I currently have no photos published in my web gallery. However, I have one photo stuck in my gallery. How can I remove this photo?

In iPhoto when you go to preferences ==> gallery what does it show? If the gallery shows as being published there stop lublishing it and see if that helps.
If it doe not go to the finder ==> iDisk ==> web ==> _gallery and delete the gallery folder (or the pictures in that gallery if it is just one picture you want gone) that is stuck there

  • New Web Gallery, iPhoto '08 and 10.5 on .Mac not working

I am using iPhoto '08 on a system with Mac OS X 10.5.1 trying to publish a Web Gallery to my .Mac. It is constantly giving me "An error occurred with publication of album "". Request to the server failed" message. This very much like the error talked about in a knowledge base article 306469 (found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306469) but the resolution in this article does not work (I spent hours doing and redoing this.)
In the many hours of wasted time on this iPhoto has managed to put one picture up.

Are you using the latest update - 7.1.2? If not you should update to it- each update addresses several web gallery issues
Once you are at 7.1.2 try syncing a few times 4 or 5 hours apart - this can be caused by a network or an Apple server issue and if it is only time will change it
I have over a thousand photo up and have had little trouble (a few times I had to try the next day and it worked)
The only hard problem I had was if I made changed during an update it messed things up - so i quit making changes during an update - do not know if Apple has addressed that yet or not)

  • Adding Rows to HTML Web Gallery

I am satisfied with Lightroom over all, but there is one item, I could not use at moment -> the web-gallery. I would like to use the standard HTML Gallery, but I need to add more rows. Wish: 3 columns, 8-9 rows (at moment I use Fotostation to built up my web galleries in this way -> see http://www.npx-photo.com -> click on a picture to get to the gallery).
Is it possible to change the code of the standard gallery? Does anyone has had the same problem and solved it?
Any help would be great to make my life much easier ;-)

  • Web Gallery -- iPhoto Library Does it Synch?

I posted my Christmas pictures and movies on my web gallery so that my friends can download the items they want and upload their photos too.
So far, 7 photos have been uploaded to my web gallery and I am trying to figure out how to get iPhoto to fetch these 7 new pictures and put a copy in my library on my HD.
I'd expect this to be done automatically but it doesn't seem to be the case.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried clicking on the publish button next to the gallery to see if that will do it? Be careful suscribing to the gallery because it's been reported that doing so may replace your full sized versions in iPhoto with the file in the gallery. You don't want that.

  • Emailing photos to a web gallery

I've noticed that when pictures get added to a gallery via email, the photo name that displays is the subject heading of the email, instead of the name of the photo file. Is there a way to change the display of photos in web gallery to display the photo file name? Is there a way to add captions to photos in web gallery so there can be more meaningful information about the picture?

  • How to set the Key Photo in .Mac Web Gallery ?

Has anyone managed to set the key photo in a .Mac Web Gallery album ? The key photo is the photo used on the main page of the Web Gallery to illustrate the event.
In iPhoto, all you do is select in the left column a published .Mac Web Gallery, right-click on the photo you want to set as the key photo, and select "set as key photo".
In aperture, you can do the same in a project, but this will only set the key photo for your "all projects" view. This key photo is not used when exporting the project to .mac web gallery.
In all the web galleries I export from Aperture, the first picture is used as the key photo, it's really a problem. Any solution ?
    Message was edited by: skiss

There is a small "Header Bar" if you will in iPhoto, you can drag the photo you want to that header bar and I think that accomplishes what you want if I understand what you mean by Key Photo (the photo that shows up in e-mail if you forward the gallery to others). My wife and I stumbled on that solution as we were trying to figure it out. Actually I think wife gets the credit, she had the mouse in her hand when it happened .

  • Adjust Photo Size For Web Gallery

I'm uploading a new Web Gallery as I type this....(although nothing appears to be happening at the moment...I decided against my first couple of efforts and deleted those galleries).
I don't see a way to adjust the size of the photos uploaded to the Web Gallery. As each of the photos I'm uploading is approximately 3MB in size, I was hoping there might be an option to compress each of the photos prior to uploading. Am I missing it?
In iPhoto Help, there's a topic for "Choosing the Appropriate Size For Your Photo". Apparently, this only refers to emailed photos, though?
    Any thoughts on this?

    Mike:
Have you checked on the size of the files uploaded to the web gallery? They are resized to 800 x 600 pixels. If you select the option to have the full sized image downloaded then the max pixel dimension is 3054 pixels in any direction. If the are larger than than the get resized. Additionally the file is compressed. My 2.7 MB file was downsized to 750 KB.

  • Problem uploading photo's to web gallery

For some reason I am no longer able to upload photo's to my web gallery. I have the web gallery set up to allow upload by email. I am getting an error on my iPhone that says "Your Web Gallery has no shared albums publish an album using iPhoto '08 and select allow photo uploading by email"
I have restored the iPhone and it is still not working any idea?

Are you able to upload photos from another computer (not your main one) or do you get the same error?
All the control for Web Gallery is in iPhoto. Verify your settings per this article:
