Adding photos to an existing collection

I'm having such a hard time adding several photos at once to an existing collection. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I am following the insturctions. First I select all the photos by clicking shift and the 1st photo, then I select the last photo. All photos I want to add are highlighted. But I can't drag all the photos at once. When I try to drag, the 1st photo is only selected. What is are the correct click, drag and drop key strokes to get it right?  Dragging and dropping one photo at the time is just not feasible.

Monia,
I think what you're being caught with is that you have to drag and drop the image from the center of the thumbnail, and not from the gray border.

  • Adding images to an existing collection

    Using a PC how can you add selected images to an existing collection. Dragging, as per LR help, would appear to be for Mac users only.
    Many thanks

  • Adding photos to an existing Mobile Me Gallery

    When I drag a photo from an event into an existing Mobile Me gallery it/ will always be at the bottom of the gallery window (in last place). I have a few galleries that I like to update often with new photos. I would love if those new additions would be the first in the series without having to find the new photo and drag it to the top of the list of the gallery. Does anyone know a setting that I can change to make this happen?

    After you've added the new photos and they have been published to the gallery, go into the gallery in iPhoto, rearrange the photos as you want and hit the publish button again. That will rearrange the photos online.

  • Is there a way to add new photos into an existing collection even though they are located in a different folder in Lightroom?

    I am trying to add my favorite photos  that are currently located in multiple folders in Lightroom into a single Collection and am not able to do so. I also do not understand the concept of a Collection Set, which might be the solution here. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

    A Collection is the way to provide a quick link to any group of images you select. (Maybe ones you want to sent to a printer, or email, etc)
    A Collection does not make a second copy of your images. Collections appear like folders, but the thumbnails in a collection are only "links" to your original images.
    Any Development edits you do to images from a Collection set will show the edits in the Library grid view.
    Collections are great for any projects like a Book, or Slideshow, etc.
    To place image links in a Collection:
    Method 1)   "easy"
    First- (if you have created a collection set by the + on the Collection PANEL HEADER)- Right-click the collection NAME in the Collection Panel and choose "Set as Target Collection".
       This will place a small + sign to the right of the Collection NAME. (you only need to do this once to 'Set as Target')
    Next- (In the library grid view, this can be "All" photographs.!!))- Select one or multiple images, Press the "B" key.
        This will (Bounce, Bump, Bag, Bop) selected images into your "Target Collection"
        So if you select ALL your favourites with ALL photographs visible in grid- you can do it with ONE press of the "B" key.
    Method 2) "almost as easy"
    Select one or multiple images in the Library Grid view.
    Position your mouse cursor in the middle of one of the selected images, hold a left-click and drag your images 'onto' the collection NAME.
    (Note: this does not work if you drag from the border frame of an image.)

  • Help adding photos to an existing Adobe slideshow

    I have created my slidshows in adobe bridge CS5 and imported them into my website seamlessly. Now months later I am trying to figure out how I even did it!! I just need to add photos to the current slideshow, can this be done??
    Thanks!

    You will need to go into Code view and search for the UL tag with an ID of ImageSlideShow.
    Once there, you can add a List Item (<li>) as per
    <ul id="ImageSlideShow" title="My Images">
      <li>
          <a href="images/photo.jpg" title="White Orchids">
            <img src="images/thumbnails/photo.jpg" alt="photo.jpg" />
        </a>
      </li>
        <!-- ........ other items -->
    </ul>
    The above assumes that your main image is stored in the images folder and is called photo.jpg. It also assumes that the thumbnail of the image is stored in the images/thumbnails folder and has the name of photo.jpg.
    If your images are located in a different folder or has a different name, you will need to adjust the values in the example.

  • Trouble with adding photos to a collection

    Hi,
    till LR 4.1 it was easy to add photos to an existing collection. I just selected photos and dragged+dropped them on the name of the collection. Job done. This seems not to work in LR 4.2 any longer. I can only add photos to a collection by using the context menu of the collection ("Add marked photos to this collection" [most probably the correct English term is different as I work with the German edition of LR 4.2]). Is this supposed to be a feature - or just a bug?
    Additionally I can't put photos in an individual order any more. Sorting them by date, name etc - easy! But rearranging the manually doesn't work any longer with my version. Again: feature or bug?
    Any hint is welcome!
    Regards,
    Volker

    I can't reproduce it here so far - what OS?
    You're dragging from the thumbnail itself, and not the border surrounding?
    You've restarted your computer?

  • Adding to Existing Collections?

    I can select a bunch of images displayed in the Library, click on the "+" in the Collections tab and save the selected images to a new collection.
    Now, I get some different images selected in the Library, and want to add them to the above collection. How do I do this? I can drag and drop individual files but not, it seems, groups of files. I see that a "Control + Click" allows me to DELETE the selected files from the collection, but I cannot find a command to ADD the files to a collection.
    Sorry to be so lame, I am hoping there is an obvious answer I have overlooked while pulling my hair out looking through all the menus.

    Either drag them to the collection, or select them, right click the collection, and choose "Add selected photo(s) to the collection".

  • Error adding RDSH to existing collections: Unable to retrieve the session collection properties

    I've randomly experienced a problem on our production server. I can no longer add RDSH servers to existing collections but I can create a new collection.  The error message from add-rdsessionhost:
    Unable to retrieve the session collection properties.
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidResult: (:) [], RDManagementException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : JobStateFailed
        + PSComputerName        : localhost
    I can amend the rds.RoleRdsh table to add the server to the collection but more gtables need to be edited manually to get it working. There appears to be some kind of permissions issue editing exisitng collections but not new ones? I'm not aware of anything
    that has changed since I last amended a collection, the day before.
    Any help would be appreciated. I can provide more information if necessary.

    Hi,
    Based on my research, there was a similar case where an empty collection existed in Connection Broker SQL database, deleting the empty collection resolved the issue.
    Please run PowerShell cmdlet Get-RDSessionCollection
    to list all collections in the RDS deployment.

  • Add photos to a specific Collection from Survey view?

    When I'm doing my edit from a shoot, I often use the Survey view to look at groups of images. Also, I use collections as a way to store selections into future use categories like Contests 2010, Portfolio, etc. In Survey, it seems only possible to add photos to a Quick Collection or view it in an existing collection, but I want to be able to add it to other collections either via drag & drop or by contextual menu. Is this possible to do this and if not, is this something other users find useful enough to add as a feature request?

    I think the drag and drop would be difficult to implement as all the images in Survey View have to be targeted.
    However, if one had the ability to set more than one target collection rather than a single collection or the Quick Collection I think that could be useful for organizing while in Survey View. Just as we can change the meaning of the color labels we could be able to select say, five different collections and assign a target shortcut to them. So whie in survey view (or any view for that matter) I could hit 22 and the image)s) would be added to any collection I deemed to have a target of 22. Add the shift key so as not to confuse with Ratings.
    Currently I cannot suggest a simpler way for you since you state that you are in Survey View. A feature request? Sure go ahead and make one.

  • I have and existing collection.  How can I merge images in a Quick Collection into the existing one?

    I wish to add images to an existing collection.  Currently I want to add images in a Quick Collection into an already named collection.  I am using LR3.  How do I do that?

    Select and then right-click the collection that you want the images added into. Select <Set as Target Collection>. A "+" sign appears besides this collection.
    Then select your Quick Collection (or whatever images you want to add to this collection) in the Grid Mode. Click Ctrl/Cmd + A to select all images in this collection. Then press letter "B" on your keyboard. That will add all these images to your target selection.

  • In IPhoto or IPad, when I edit a photo in an existing album, the photo is removed and placed in a new album with only edited photos. How do I keep it in or get it back to its original album?

    When using IPhoto for IPad, can I move photos from one album to another? For instance, when I edit a photo in an existing album, the photo is removed and placed in a new album with other edited photos. How do I keep it in or move it back to its original album?

    That will depend on the kind of album your photo is in.
    Most albums in iPhoto are created automatic by the way you are using and editing your photos, see: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/1.1/#blnkb9b1e2a
    When you edit your photo, the edited copy is added to the automatic "edited" album and the view switches to he edited album. But the photo should stay in its original album - do you see something different? Only if you want the edited photo in the camera roll and the photo strea as well, you have to save the edited copy to the camera roll again after editing, otherwise the camera roll will show the original and not the edted version.

  • How do I add or delete photos from a SMART collection?

    In LR3 I recently created a Smart Collection from color flagged photos. Now I want to add a few, and delete a few. How?? The obvious method are not allowed with SMART Collections..... Thanks for any input -

    Hi,
    If you select ALL images that are in your Smart Selection that you wish to keep in a collection, then create a new 'Non-Smart' Collection, all the selected photographs are automatically added to your new Collection (well, they are in LR 3.3RC on Windows 7). You can then delete the 'Smart' collection, and add / delete photos to your new collection as you wish.

  • ADDING PHOTOS TO AN ALBUM

    I have followed the User's Manual instruction regarding adding a photo to an existing album....without success. After I select the photo, then tap "add to", the screen changes to show all albums, however, they are all greyed out. Any suggestions?

    I found out you can only add a photo to an Album that was created on your iPhone/iPad.

  • I have added photos to My Photo Stream on my PC (Windows 7). They appear in the Uploads folder instead. They do not upload to iCloud. Am I doing something wrong?

    I have added photos to My Photo Stream on my PC (Windows 7). They appear in the Uploads folder instead. They do not upload to iCloud. Am I doing something wrong?

    Unfortunately, photo stream on a PC is iffy at best.  Many people have problems getting it to work properly, including myself.  A work around would be to use an app like PhotoSync on your PC, which can send photos wirelessly to the camera roll on any of your iOS devices on the same wifi network.  Once in the camera roll, you iOS device will be added to your photo stream.
