Adding photos to slideshow.

I'm trying to add photos to my slideshow.  They currently reside in a folder under Folders and my slideshow is in the Collections category.  No luck combining the two.  I know I'm missing something totally obvious here.

If this is an existing slideshow colection you already created, select and drag the new image files from their source folder and drop them into the exisiting slideshow collection icon located in the Collections folder. The new images will be appear in the slideshow according to your 'Sort' order selection located above the filmstrip (i.e. Capture Time, User Order, etc.).
There used to be an issue with the 'Stroke Border' option in the Slideshow module causing soft (fuzzy) imaging at down-scaled resolutions (i.e. anything less than full-resolution). If you encounter this issue, try unchecking the Stroke Border option box. I just tried it with LR 3.4.1 on my Windows 7 system and a 1280x1024 PDF slideshow looks fine with the stroke border....maybe it's fixed in LR 3.4?

  • Hit a wall with adding photos to slideshow

I have approximately 110 photos added to my project and have hit a roadblock.  I have about 30 more pictures to add and when I try to add another, it does something strange.  It looks like the picture is there but when I play it, it is the picture before it and is "stretched out"?  I have tried adding different pictures and even deleting the one before it and whatever picture I add, it does the same thing.  I'm wondering if there is a limit to the amount of photos you can use in a slideshow?  Or maybe the files are too large?  Please help!  This is my first try at a slideshow and I have to complete this project in two days!

  • Recently added photos/movies missing after closing iPhoto '09

I have iPhoto '09 (8.1.2 (424) running on an Intel iMac Core (1) Duo with Snow Leopard, all software updates current. Tonight I went to add several photos and movies to my iPhoto library (19,000+ photos). They imported fine. I moved some around with respect to events, fixed some dates, but did no photo edits. Then I closed iPhoto. When I opened it back up, all of the recently added photos were gone. The "Last Import" said "(0)". I found the photos/movies sitting in my iPhoto library in the file structure and could open them up and view them with Preview or Quicktime, respectively. But iPhoto didn't know they were there. I tried to drag and drop them into iPhoto again and it wouldn't let me, saying they are already in the library. I was able to reimport from the original location on my desktop and after closing and re-opening, same thing, no photos in iPhoto but another copy of them in the "iPhoto Library package > Originals > 2011 > ..."
This is repeatable. I can delete the folders I added then reimport and after closing and re-opening, nothing. I've rebuilt the library 2 times using command+option with all options selected except "rebuild from automatic backups." I can drag just one image into iPhoto from the bunch and it disappears to after a close+reopen. I have not yet tried to do a camera-based import. These are files on my desktop.
Lastly, I think this may be a red herring, but I just recovered from a HD crash last week. I got a new HD installed by professionals and did all the new installs to Snow Leopard and restore from my time machine backups myself. Everything looks/works like it did before the crash, except one of the user's (4 of us on this machine) desktop was missing their background pic and had to re-add it. All the other user's desktop pics were fine. This desktop pic was associated with the iphoto library I'm having the problem with. I just realized after talking with my wife that all the pictures she has added since the crash have had the same behaviour and are sitting in the iphoto library package but are not in the iPhoto library "viewer" when iPhoto is open.

    The Library database is corrupted.
Best option: restore from back up. Otherwise:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I have added photos to a portfolio website I'm building and a lot of them look VERY grainy when you click on them. They are nice clean large files and can print bat high res way over 16" x 20" so whats happened to them in iWeb?

I have added photos to a portfolio website I'm building and a lot of them look VERY grainy when you click on them. They are nice clean large files and can print bat high res way over 16" x 20" so whats happened to them in iWeb?

When you are dealing with websites, image file size is a trade off between quality and download speed. There's not a lot of point to having high quality images if they take too long to download in the browser.
Nowadays we also have to consider the device that the end user is viewing the images on. An image that is optimized for viewing on a large screen is total overkill and unsuitable for those using mobile devices.
Really we should be supplying different versions of media files for different devices using @media rules in the stylesheet but this is rather outside of the scope of iWeb. If you use the built in image optimizer and the iWeb Photo template with slideshow, the application will optimize the images according to the way in which you set this function in preferences and the slideshow size will be automatically reduced for those viewing it on smaller screens.
If you want to give your viewers the opportunity to view large, high quality images, you can supply them as a download.

  • Reorder photos in slideshow

    Hi,
I used older versions of iMovie, but the newer ones have changed so!
I am preparing a slideshow in Imovie "11 (version 9) I have all of the photos in iPhoto and they are displaying on the lower right of my window. As I drag them into the project, I want to rearrange a few, and they won't just drag and drop like they used to. Would someone please help!!!  Thanks!

  • Adding Photos from other folders?

Hi, I just discovered iDVD - ha! - and I use DVDSP/FCP professionally, but for DVDs of the kids I think I want to use this app as it's so much fun (as compared to DVDSP). But the only problem that I see is that I can't use my Photo folders on the network. For movies, I found the preference for add folders, works great, but i don't see the same thing for photos. It looks like things must be in the iPhoto catalogue or Photo Booth?!? thx for your advice!!!

You can drag photos in from any folder. They don't have to be in iPhoto. Just don't move them from their location until after you have burned your disks or a disk image of your iDVD project. If you move, change or rename any media used in the project, iDVD will be unable to locate them and will not burn.
If you are referring to putting a photo file onto the DVD-ROM area so that viewers can put the burned DVD into their computers and download the photos used in your project, follow these directions from iDVD Help:
+Adding photos and movies from slideshows to the DVD-ROM contents+
+Here are ways to add photos to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc:+
+To set iDVD to always add photos automatically:+
    +Choose iDVD > Preferences.+
    +Click Slideshow.+
+Select the “Always add original photos to DVD-ROM contents” checkbox.+
    +To add slideshow images to the DVD-ROM contents on a case-by-case basis:+
+Open the slideshow editor by double-clicking the button for your slideshow on the DVD menu, and then click the Settings button.+
+Select the “Add image files to DVD-ROM” checkbox.+

  • I have added photos to My Photo Stream on my PC (Windows 7). They appear in the Uploads folder instead. They do not upload to iCloud. Am I doing something wrong?

Unfortunately, photo stream on a PC is iffy at best.  Many people have problems getting it to work properly, including myself.  A work around would be to use an app like PhotoSync on your PC, which can send photos wirelessly to the camera roll on any of your iOS devices on the same wifi network.  Once in the camera roll, you iOS device will be added to your photo stream.

  • Adding photos to an album whilst zoomed in on the photo

I'm creating a few albums (first time, I've always worked in the Events, but need a little more flexibility) and when I'm adding photos I can easily drag them to the album name on the left when looking at the thumbnails in the event, but after double clicking and viewing them zoomed to fill the frame I have to back out of it and then drag the thumbnail in.
Is there a way to do this from the zoomed in photo to save this step?

If you remove the flag it doesn't delete the photo, just removes it from the smart Flagged album.

  • ATV doesn't show all photos in slideshow

My ATV3 doesn't show all my photos in slideshow. It seems to repeat the same, say 50, over and over, even though I have about 400 in the folder on my windows7 PC.
    Whats the fix?
    Thanks
    Andy

For the avoidance of doubt are you talking about the screensaver or the slideshows.
Slideshows should show all your photos, but screensavers will not. Screensavers need to save the photos to the Apple TVs flash storage, the Apple TV doesn't have a lot of this and so limits the number of photos it uses.

  • Adding Photos To Photo Stream From iPhoto Doesn't Work.

    Hi,
I'm a new Mac user, just becoming acquainted to Mavericks. I've imported all of my photos into iPhoto, have found some photos I wanted to share with some friends. So, I selected the Photos, then clicked the "Share" icon, then "iCloud". I created a new stream, and shared it with my friends. The stream appeared on my iPhone & iPad, and my firends have accepted my invite. But the photos have not been added to the stream.
I tried adding the photos again to no avail.
I have also tried adding photos to streams that I had already created on my iPhone, but the photos are not added.
No error messages to be seen; I have also checked the iPhoto preferences, under the iCloud option, all check boxes are ticked.
    Any ideas?

Sorry not to be able to help, just wanted to show support as I have exactly the same problem.  Did you find an answer?

  • IPad 3 crashes when adding photo from gallery

Major bummer. I've had my new ipad3 for about a week. Just today when I try and add a photo to either a chat or to Facebook it crashes before it pulls up my photo gallery. This is awful. Anyone else experiencing this? What can I do besides shutting off and rebooting?

OK, it may have been an issue with the last photo that was in my camera roll. For the heckuv it I took another pic and then tried adding photos again in my apps and it worked. Thanks!

  • Photos in slideshow "smear"

I'm using iPhoto '09 on 2 machines.  On my G4 PPC (non-Intel) running OSX 10.5.8 photos in slideshow mode (not in albums, or library) show a "smear" at the edges.  (This smear seems to fill in the black band at picture edges.)  This crazy phenomenon does not appear on my iBook with the same iPhoto version and same OSX.  Also I cannot go to turn music off unless I'm in Ken Burns mode!!!
    Any ideas?

    Dupont 24:
iPhoto has no limits to the number of photos a user can have in a slideshow nor in the number of photos you can at at one time. If the slideshow is already created, just select all the photos you want in the main library or in an album and drag onto the slideshow icon in the Source pane.
    Do you Twango?

  • HT201317 Manually adding photos to Photo Stream

I've manually added photos to the upload photo from my windows desktop but they are not appearing on my iPhone's Photo Stream.  I think I have everything set up and turned on correctly...

Save any photo stream photos you want to keep to your camera roll, then turn photo stream off, wait a minute or two, then turn it back on.  To save them to your camera roll, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • I'm adding photos to photo stream and they aren't showing up

I'm adding photos to photo stream and they aren't showing up - help!

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
