Adding pictures to iTunes so iPod Touch can have those pics when it syncs
If I have folder of pics on the desktop what is the best way to get them onto iTunes for syncing to the iTouch?
You don't get them to itunes. Itunes does not store photos. If you have a folder of pics you can sync to your ipod. Just go to the photo tab and select the folder to sync:

I tend to make my playlists right on my ipod. This did not happen for the last 2 years. Just started recently. Did get a new computer recently.That is because you got a new computer. You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. You can sync from any computer to iPod using the manual method but that does not sync from iPod to computer.

I have a new computer. I've installed iTunes. I don't want to lose the calendar and contact data nor the apps currently on my iPod Touch. Will that happen when I sync?
I don't think so. When you open iTunes, go to "Store" on the top and click "Authorize this Computer." Type in your email and pass, and click authorize. Then, when you connect you iPod for the first time, it should tell you "this iPod is synced with another computer, blah blah." It should give you the option to either "Erase and Sync," or "Transfer Purchases." Click "Transfer Purchases and your content should go into your new iTunes.
If this doesn't work and you still have your old computer there's another thing you can do. I know this works on windows, but I'm not sure how to do it on a Mac, maybe someone can offer some help. Assuming you have Windows, go to Start>Music>iTunes Media and you should see Music, Apps, Movies, etc. This is all the stuff in your iTunes. If you have an external hard drive or your iTunes library is small in terms of file size, you can do this in one go. Transfer the content (as much as you can fit at one time) onto the external storage. Then, put that content on your new computer on the desktop or somewhere where you can find it again. Open iTunes, and folder by folder highlight everything in the folder and drag it into the iTunes library. It should say "importing (content)" or something and then it should be in your library. If you look in your Music folder again, there should now be another "iTunes" folder there with all of your content back in it.

My ipod touch can't be found when I run a diagnostic test, on 3 different computers!
I have a 64GB 4th generation iPod touch for about a year and half now, but suddenly when I plug it into my computer, it will begin charging but it won't show up in devices under itunes. When I ran a diagnostic test, it says my ipod can't be found. I ran a diagnostic test on 3 different computers that have the latest verison of itunes installed, once on a laptop and twice on a desktop computer and it still can't be found. I've reinstalled itunes and all of it's components and also restarted my ipod. I finally erased all the data off my ipod and set it up as a new ipod (because I can't use it if I set it up as backup) and deleted any recent music I downloaded and it still can't be found. If anyone could help me, please let me know right away or I'll be selling the ipod and buying a new one.
I am not sure what is happening, but I may know how to fix it.
Plug it into a computer, press and hold the lock and home buttons, and the ipod will turn off. When the apple logo appears, let go of the lock button but keep holding the home button until iTunes says it has detected an ipod in recovery mode. -

I have had my ipod touch 4th generation for a couple months now.... Nowhere in the manuals or help sections does it tell me how to make individual pucture files(like that already on my computer) put onto my ipod touch.... I managed to make one and I can't remember how I did it but when I have the touch hooked up to itunes and try to pick which picture files from my computer to sync, a box always opens and says that it will delete everything in the original photo library that was in there.....
Can anyone help me there has to be away, I know someone has done it but they don't live here to show me!!!!

I do have a photo library on my computer, but in the photo tab in itunes for the ipod touch and there is nothing checked for syncing, cause when I do check it it always says its going to replace everything i have in my photo library on my ipod touch..... So how am i suppose to have it checked and have it NOT replace pictures on it????
Also I cannot make more photo albums into my ipod touch, it just replaces the one album every time....
I am very frustrated cause I have tried the manuals and the apple support help etc and nothing pertains to my exact issue.....

Hello, friend. If you are Mac user, you can use iPhoto to import the camera pictures from iPod touch to iTunes. If you are Win user, you may try this iPod file manager, it can help you copy pictures and videos from iPod to computer, then you can drag and drop the files into iTunes.

The other responder gave you a program that will transfer stuff from your iPod to your new computer. You can transfer iTunes purchaces to your new computer by:

After you move your stuff to your new computer you will have to let iTunes erase your iPod and then sync with the stuff that is now in your iTunes library. You will loose app data though. -
I have tried since Chrismas to use my Ipod touch and have not been able to! I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes more often then I care to admit! I called support and when I found out there is a charge ($59.95) I declined and hung up. I now can't even download itunes! I guess I find that a little fishy. I was so happy with this gift and now I am so frustrated I am about to return it and never purchase another apple product again! When my ipod touch is in recovery mode (when I try to re-store it) the itunes page sayes the website has been timed out and so it won't re-store. There is a limited time, whilst restoring the ipod, it lasts for approx 5 mins, then asks to start again all over again. Can anyone please help me?

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
