Adding pictures to Titles

Hi all,
I'm making the journey over from FCP. Like everyone else I've seen some things I like and some I don't, but the truth is, I've not used in enough to voice an opinion. I saw some of the pre-made titles and want to use them in a project. Specifically one that has arrows in it allowing me to put in a short video clip or picture. HELP. It is not intuitive. I can't just drag and drop as I was hoping/expecting. I've tried numerous approaches, but I cannot figure out how to do this. I've consulted the on-line manual and it doesn't give me a clue.
Can anyone give me some advise. I'm sure it's simple, but I am lost...

Which title are you talking about exactly? They all have different controls and many work quite differently. If you mean Fold, you click in the drop zone in the Title inspector and then click on the clip you want in the browser or the project and thgen click Apply in the viewer.

Problems adding an image title?

Hi,
When I place an image in Muse I'm having problems adding an image title. When I Control click the image in Design view the choices I get at the bottom of the pop up menu are
Edit original
Edit Image Properties
When I looked it up in help it tells me I should also see another item "Add Title" but I don't get that as a choice. When I click on "Edit Image Properties" I get a choice of Tooltips or Alt Text but no place for a title.

To be clear when I right click on an image I only get the choice of "Edit Original" & "Edit Image Properties". When I click on "Edit Image Properties" I only get a choice of Tooltips or Alt Text, nothing for title

Adding titles and alternative text to images
After you place images on a page, you can access the Image Properties dialog box to set both a title and alternative text (also sometimes called alt text) that is assigned to the image.
Here's a brief description of each property:
Title: In many browsers, the title is displayed in addition to the image, typically as a tooltip that appears when a cursor hovers over it.
Alternate text: If the image file cannot be shown, this text is displayed in place of the image. Alternate text is also used to describe images to visually impaired visitors using assistive technologies to access page content.
It is ideal to set titles and alternative text for every site asset, to ensure that visitors have the best experience when navigating your site. Tooltips are helpful for including additional information about graphics and alternative text makes pages more accessible for screen readers that verbally present graphic content.
To add titles and alternative text, follow these steps:
1. Select a placed image.
2. Right-click on the image and select Add Title or Add Alternative Text from the context menu that appears (see Figure 3).

Adding pictures into keynote

I have a OD user who is having trouble adding pictures from iPhoto into Keynote. They are dragging photos from iPhoto onto Keynote Presentation and it is taking (in their words 5 mins) to add each picture. What could be happening here? Is there a solution?

Within Keynote, click Media in the Toolbar, then select an image from your iPhoto, Aperture, or Photo Booth library.

My idvd wont play sound in some parts of my i movie project, even though i can hear the sound in imovie. dont get it??? and at the end of my i movie i added pictures with music. it appears as tough there is some kind of ripple effect when i play in idvd??

Adding picture to mp3 files in iTunes Bugs found!

There is a bug when you adding picture to lots of music in an album. Which you when you finish adding the picture, some of them changed the picture...but there are some not changed. Those not changed picture mp3 files are all bugged, the bug is which your music will be repeating at the first few sec. Its kinda annoying! Need to delete the whole mp3 file away...
Please help to contact Apple about this bugs and fix it quickly! Thank you.

I was having the same issue with a few (not all) .m4k files on a NAS -- in my case the problem was something with file attributes/permissions (I'm using Windows 7).
ITunes could not change the actual file (rename/move to keep organized, add artwork, etc), though Windows would update the file date when I did attempt these things. Permissions seemed fine for the files, but the fix was to simply change an attribute and hit 'Apply' from the file properties window (right click file in File Explorer...Properties).
Specifically, most of my files had the Archive attribute checked, which I just unchecked and hit Apply. The issue wasn't the setting since all of my files have this attribute set and most can be edited by Itunes, but by changing the attribute, it fixed whatever weird issue there was with iTunes altering the file.

Address Book Slow Adding Pictures

Upon adding pictures to contacts, the Adddress Book app begins working very slow. Lots of spinning wheels, and waiting to load picture edit box, and then anything else in the app is slow after that.
Any ideas to remedy?

I just got a LG Enlightenment and google+ added pictures do it

I just got a new phone and Google+ added pictures to it and some of them i do not wish they were there. I tried to delete them but they won't delete. And i could not find them on my Google account how do i get rid of them?

Congrats on your new LG Enlighten! It's such a great smartphone to have! I use Google to connect with my friends and family so I am very familiar with your requests. It sounds like you would like to (1) prevent your pictures from automatically uploading to Google and deleting the pictures that were already added to Google . No worries! I have inlcuded the steps for both procedures, below.
* To turn off Instant Upload:
Open the Google application
Tap 'Settings'
Turn 'Instant Upload' off
* To Delete Pictures from Google account:
Open Google application
Tap the red Google plus icon on the upper left
Tap 'My Photos'
Tap 'Instant Upload'
Tap 'Menu' then 'select items'
Tap the pictures you would like to remove to highlight
Tap the 3 dots on the upper, right
Tap 'Delete photos'
I trust this information will prove successful in making sure your friends and family are only able to see the pictures you desire! Please let us know if you need anything further.

Adding a jpg title: what dpi?

I am trying to add a title to my clips like the BBC news in the form of imported jpgs, ie with logo and text on background BUT when imported it fills the width of screen and is not terribly sharp. I have experimented with various dpi but with no success. Am using PRE 9 + creating jpgs in CorelDraw. Ideas most welcome.

Technically dpi or ppi doesn't matter, since you're working in onscreen resolution. The only thing that matters is the overall measurement, in pixels. But most people just use 72 ppi anyway.
For a full-screen graphic, use a 640x480 pixel graphic. You can resize it as needed.
Your photos, by the way, aren't going to be terribly sharp no matter what you do. Remember that video resolution is only the equivalent of a 640x480 picture, so you can only get so much detail.
But, once you've added a photo to your video you'll see a red line above the clips on your timeline. Press Enter to render the timeline (the red line will turn green) and you'll at least have a better idea of what your final video output will look like.

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages? I just want to type a letter and add pictures and titles, and Pages keeps changing font sizes and doesn't let me "Do it my way". I HATE this!

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages? I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to. But NO! Pages keeps changing the font size! I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size! I am getting SO FRUSTRATED! I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter! Can anyone help?

The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!

Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".

Printing iPhoto Pictures with Titles

iPhoto provides for titles with pictures and a description with the picture as well. Is there a way to print pictures with their itle and description?

Within iPhoto the only way is using the contact sheet option as Daiya pointed out. If you want to put the info on the photo itself you'll need a 3rd party editor link Photoshop Elements, Seashore orAcorn. If you go to VersionTracker.com and search for "image editor" you'll get a number of candidates.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Adding buttons on title line

I am relatively new to Flex and I have run into a slight
problem that I that I think is because of lack of experience. I
have a panel and I have set the title attribute but now I am
required to add buttons to the right of the title. I am not sure
what the best way to do this is or even if it is viable. I have
read in other places throughout the internet that it is possible to
add buttons to the title of an object, but I do not know how to do
to proceed. I have thought about it and I think making an HBox and
adding a label for the title and then the required buttons might
work, but when it compiles it leaves a blank space above my new
HBox that just does not look good. Is there someway to override the
title of the panel or set its height to 0, or better yet some way
to add buttons to the title line of the panel? Any help would be
appreciated.

Adding a second title to a clip

I've attached a centered multiple to the first clip successfully. However I now want to attach additional text to other clips throughout the movie but when I click and drag, it won't take to the clip. The + symbol shows when dragged over the clip but no joy. Any ideas?

Ric - If you have inserted transitions between clips, the title will not "take". You'll need to either remove the transition or split the clip (as described in my previous post). The transition can be added again after the title renders.
As you have probably noticed, when placing the title in the timeline, if you drag over the clip it will move to the right to allow insertion of the title. My last post wasn't clear about that - you don't have to drag to the exact division between clips (I had forgotten that the clip moved sideways when hovering OVER it).

Using iDVD 5.01. Adding pictures to slideshows.

Good evening, I am having problems adding certain pictures to a slide show that I am creating. The program allows me to drag and drop some pictures but not others. All the pictures are from the same camera and the same format (JPG) They are not all in the same roll (iPhoto) in fact part of some rolls are allowed, while others aren't.
Any ideas?

Adding pictures/graphics w TEXT to DV movies

In the past - I was told if I wanted to add a picture ( with text titling mixed in) to a DV quality movie in final cut pro - that I should use: 720x480 300 dpi Tiff file - however looks badly smudgy/ pixilated post importing.
Q: Why does this look so bad? Should I be using a different size/format?

BTW: The Text is Built IN the tiff picture
Now, the question is... are you applying any motion
(scaling, moving, cropping etc) to your TIFF image in
FCP? Or, is the image just being used as a static
background with text on top?
I'm applying no Motion effects of any kind. I simply drag a clean tiff from the FCP browser to the timeline.
You might find that if you double-click on your TIFF
clip on the timeline, it opens up into the VIEWER
window as a perfect image... whereas, in the canvas
it looks fuzzy... this is basically a render
issue...
- when I double click - it seems as though the image looks equally fuzzy/smudgy in the canvas as well as the viewer
BTW: - I have the playback video quality set to HIGH and record to tape set to FULL quality.
Just to add... do you see the green preview render
line at the top of the timeline?

Workflow for adding 300+ simple titles

Hi,
I'm about to start a new project that involves adding about 300+ kids names to each 1 minute video segment of each child. When it's finished I'll deliver on 4 DVDs.
I'll occasionally need to move sections of kids between sequences so that each DVD is about equal in length. I want to make sure the title stays with the child.
I know how to do this in the simple case -- place my segments in the timeline, add a second video track. Then repeat x300:
In the viewer choose Generators->Text->Text.
Click "Controls"
Click in the "SAMPLE TEXT" area.
Type the kid's name over the words "Sample Text".
Click "Video"
Move the wireframe down so that it's in the lower third.
Click on the duration.
Change the duration to 3 seconds.
Apple-2 to bring up the canvas.
Apple-F10 to overwrite (Don't ask me why it's not plain F10 as the mouseover hint implies, I can't figure that out)
' ' to move to the next edit point.
My question is, is there a way to improve this workflow and make it more efficient? I intend to also name the segments with the child's name, so that I can find them easily if that parent requests an individualized cut. (Right now they all have names like "Segment 39 from Saturday Tape 02") Ideally I'd like to pull the "SAMPLE TEXT" text from the name of the segment, so that I only have to type each name once, while naming the segment.
Is there a way to save my text settings and bring them up quickly with keyboard shortcuts? I can't figure out how to get a keyboard shortcut to get to the "Controls" tab of the Viewer window.

The solution posted eariler is much simpler, creating the list in word still requires the TAB keystrokes to get to the next entry, and it doesn't have the integration of "What am I looking at as I title this?"
The solution above is basically "Do some setup, then:
Type the kid's name.
Tab.
F10.
Cmd-1
Tab.
Type next kid's name, 5 keystrokes, type next kid's name, 5 keystrokes...
It's very easy. I've even re-mapped "bring up the viewer" (previously Cmd-1) to the semicolon to mimize multi-finger keystrokes.
Speaking of minimizing multi-finger keystrokes, I attempted to re-map "Edit Marker" in the browser (orignially some combo involving M) to a single keystroke, but nothing I tried worked. I tried the letter 'g' and 'y' and 'r' and a few others, but most seemd to jump me either ahead or back in the browser list. I found a workaround while searching for a solution, but I'm still wondering if anyone knows why this is?
For completeness, the reason I was doing this is that my original footage is captured as one complete chunk then markers added with DV start stop detect. I wanted to make sub-clips and have them have reasonable names, but there was no keyboard shortcut to do that (or so I thought) so I was editing the marker names using a re-mapped CMD-G, but I wanted it to no longer need the CMD in front.
When seeking a solution for that problem I learned that hitting the ENTER key on the numeric keypad will allow me to edit a subclip name directly, which is actually better for my purposes.

PS. People reading this far into the thread are probably efficiency nuts like me, so I thought I'd share that the reason I used CMD-G to edit the marker is that I name each one with the reel and segment number followed by the text name. For the reel and segment number I cut (CMD-C) the first one, then paste it as the default name in the field for each subsequent marker, changing only the last digit. i.e. "01-003 Firstname Lastname" I cut-and-paste the "01-00" portion. I'd hold down on CMD and hit 'gv' and type the digit and the name.
